Love Achenbach

Such a cool looking hotel. Wanted to just chill in the lounge and have a whiskey but I don’t think there was a bar. We liked walking so we didn’t mind the distance to the city center, you can always grab a scooter

Villa Achenbach is a lovely hotel, nicely decorated, quiet, with beautiful grounds. the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We stayed in a suite on the lower level with a lovely patio with a nice view of the grounds. The only complaint is related to privacy. The maintenance?/garden? facility is next to our patio and there was a constant flow of people at eye level across our room and patio, so we never felt like we had any privacy on the patio or in the room unless the curtains were closed.

I didn’t like being on the top floor in a property without a lift. Lugging bags up to the top of narrow winding stairs was not ideal.

Beautiful and convenient hotel

Beautiful hotel a mile walk or short tram ride from the old town. We came to visit the Christmas markets and the hotel added to our enjoyment because it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The staff was excellent and very helpful in explaining public transit and in helping us get to Cologne for a day trip. Highly recommend!

Beautiful, old-world European charm in this small boutique-style hotel. The staff was superb and treated us like royalty. Every time we went to the desk to ask for something, (wine opener, etc.), they would insist on bringing up to our room, personally. Breakfast was unbelievable—huge buffet. We celebrated an anniversary there and they brought us up a beautiful tray with champagne and chocolates! There is no elevator but the staff carries all our luggage up the stairs. We will be back!

Great stay at Villa Achenbach but with poor room

Everything was very pleasant during our stay at Villa Achenbach. Great service by the team nice breakfast selection and spacious room. But a room in the basement is NOT what we expected for the price we paid. Sorry Ms Katharina but here you messed up and in some way it spoiled our stay. How can you enjoy in your room if the gardener looks right into your room from above?? We would have expected a bit more

Comfortable boutique hotel. Pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good. A little expensive for the class. No elevators, but there was help in the business hours. I left at 4:00 AM, so I had to carry all my bags by myself. No English TV channel.

A hidden jewel in Dusseldorf

Having stayed in this hotel couple of times, I can say its a rare find.
Its got everything you need for a business stay. Lovely and clean rooms, a great shower and fast internet. Its conveniently close to the tram station and has loads of shops and restaurants near by. I found the staff extremely courteous and friendly, taking the time to explain in detail your room and how to make the most of it.

Exceeds expectations as a foreign traveler.

Villa Achenbach is nothing short od amazing. Their English is spot on across all staff members and as is their smiles. Rooms are one of a kind, and make you feel rejuvenated after any sort of travel. They exceeded all expectations and I would recommend thia place to anyone. The city is a short cheap ride in on the tram, which is located after a 30 sec walk. Surrounding area is beautiful and clean. Old town Düsseldorf is the same way as it is city worth seeing. Hotel Achenbach made sure the whole experience was tip top.

Comfortable & quaint in the city

The Villa is very quaint & a fine establishment. Breakfast is good & there is a nice garden. Our room was particularly nice, lots of nice period features.
Location is a bit out of town .... although the tram is conveniently close.
Lack of air conditioning could be an issue for some in very warm weather.

Fantastic Beautiful Hotel Definately Recommend

Was the last stop of a European 2 week adventure to leave the next morning to the airport and we all wished we had stayed here for a couple of days! Beautiful hotel in a safe and fantastic neighborhood that made us sad to be leaving Germany. Would recommend this Hotel and we will definitely stay again when returning to the area. Also front desk was excellent and got us reservations at a local Italian restaurant on our late arrival and it was fantastic.

Location is perfect, in an upscale quite community yet transportation friendly with trains around the corner which takes us to the busy districts within 15 min. The hotel is with only a few rooms but lot of privacy. The room is very clean & comfortable.
Could be a bit stuffy during Summer time. It's service is most commendable. Ana provided us a 6 star assistance on where & how to explore the city.
Won't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Beautiful Hotel

Owner was a great guy and loves his hotel and City. Very knowledgable about local attractions and keeps the place spotless. The desk attendants were very knowledgable and helpful.
Love the old decor with modern amenities.
Location was close to metro even though I had a vehicle. Make sure you reserve a parking spot for your vehicle prior to arrival, well worth the money.
Over all a great hotel and hidden gem.

Good hotel.....just when it's not warm!

No air conditioning so in warm weather the room is really stuffy. The only options is a fairly loud tower fan which ensured a terrible nights sleep.

A really rude man at the front desk does not help either although the rest of the staff are really nice.

Not a place to stay during the summer months.

Wot, no marmalade

Business trip to visit Metro (20 minute walk) easy drive. Very welcoming and polite hosts, lovely quality rooms, best internet so far and the only niggle was that this Englishman couldn't have orange marmalade for breakfast. I think I'll have to get some of those Frank Cooper miniatures to carry in my liquids bag.
But really overall, probably the best hotel I have stayed in for years. Well done.

The Villa was all you saw in the pictures. Redecorated by new owner five years ago.Perfect. The safe was so helpful and all spoke English.
In reception Godi and Ronja did a supper job. Hope to return soon, Made new friends. The neighborhood was really upscale, safe and clean.Breakfast was extra, but well done in a pleasant space.

Great ambiance and really cool decor!

This was the best thing about staying in Dusseldorf. The Villa is decorated really cool, and the bathroom seems to be newly remodeled. The staff was great too. We arrived late, but they stayed up past 11 pm to check us in and were totally nice about it. The breakfast was really nice too. The breakfast room was very nice and elegant. I'd definitely recommend staying here. Was also on a quite street which was nice and relaxing.

Beautiful hotel - very helpful staff!

We actually booked this hotel because Air Berlin changed our returning flight from Sicily to Los Angeles (with a layover in Dusseldorf) giving us an extended layover. I didn't have much time to research and wanted something reasonably close to the airport and stumbled upon this hotel because of its great reviews. I'm so glad I booked it! The hotel itself is beautiful and has wonderful history to it. The young lady who welcomed us upon arrival was very sweet and helpful and was able to give us directions to the cable car station and instructions and how to take it to the Rhine. I'm a bit grateful for the unintended layover now because our night out in Dusseldorf was so fun! The Rhine was only 6 short stops away via cable car and there were pubs, restaurants and live music (despite the rain.) Our rooms was comfortable and beautiful and seemed like it had a newly upgraded bathroom. The breakfast the next morning had a lovely presentation and a yummy selection! If we return to Dusseldorf in the future on our travels I will definitely choose this hotel again!

There were nice aspects about this hotel, definitely charming in its own way. However for a 4 star price you only get 2 star service. There is no food option outside of breakfast which is disappointing when you are 20 minutes from the city center. Hotel made you settle the bill the night before as staff don't start until 7.00am which is ok but once bill is paid you were cut off from the internet which you had paid for, also missed out on breakfast which you had paid for as breakfast didn't start until 8.00am. Also unhelpful in printing boarding pass for early flight, was told it was easier to print at the airport?

A Wonderful Place!

Excellent hotel, great room with lots of personality. Everything about it is first class. The staff was very helpful. The hotel is in a quiet residential area, about a 25 minute walk from central city. The tram stop is one block from hotel.

Good alternative to business travelers

First business trip to Duesseldorf and my only chance to experience the city was dinner out and the hotel in the evening. Staying at this hotel, which use to be a large family private home, was a nice local experience.

The hotel is lovely - great attention to detail in the decor and the rooms. The bed was very comfortable and the room well-fitted with amenities. Breakfast was excellent - I really appreciated the variety and quality of the food. The hotel is very close to a number of public transport stops, shops, restaurants and a couple of supermarkets, but still in a quiet residential area. All of the staff were very polite, helpful and friendly, and made my stay even more pleasant!

One of the best hotels I have stayed in.

I stayed in room 24 (on the ground floor) on Saturday 26th July. The hotel building is full of character and a lovely place to stay.

I was greeted in a friendly and professional manner including showing how everything works in the room.

The rooms were amazing and well above what I was expecting. In particular the bed was very comfortable meaning a very good nights sleep.

Breakfast was excellent with everything you could want.

Very German Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The location is on a tree lined road just off a major route into Dussedorf centre which made if convenient but not at all noisy. My wife commented about how quiet it was, she thought we must be the only guests but there were at least 10 other people staying there.
The staff were welcoming and all spoke excellent English, the first day we were there my wife was ill and this prompted concern from the receptionist who helped with getting painkillers which I found very helpful and touching.
The breakfast (only meals we ate here) were good but if you are expecting a \"full English\" be prepared for a disapointment, you get a \"full German\" instead. There was a good range for fresh fruits, breads, cheeses and cold meats available, along with cerials and fruit juices.
Would I stay here again? Yes, without hesitation. .

I booked a room to Hotel Villa Achenbach based on reviews. This hotel is simply great! It is truly beautiful, extremely peacefull and spotlesly clean. Staff is really putting a lot of effort to offer perfect experience for customers. Location is on a high end residental area walking distance from downtown and Altstadt. If you don't like walking trams are available one block from hotel or only couple of minutes by taxi. I honestly can't think anything to critizise about this hotel. You feel like you are a guest of royal family. Breakfast was extremely good also. I spend a lot of time on different hotels every year. In my books this little gem of a hotel is 5 stars. I don't even concider any other place when in Dusseldorf next time.

Villa Achenbach var verkligen ett supermysigt och häftigt hotell – något utöver det vanliga. Själva huset är fantastiskt och rummen har massor av karaktär. Det känns mer som att bo i ett vackert hem än på ett traditionellt hotell.

Personalen var också något extra. Väldigt personlig, varm och genuint serviceinriktad.

Frukosten var supergod och trevlig, med bra kvalitet och en lugn atmosfär. Extra plus att det gick att beställa vin till rummet. Lobbyn är dessutom jättefin och inbjudande.

Det enda som eventuellt saknas är möjlighet till kvällsmiddag på hotellet, men läget gör det enkelt att ta sig till bra restauranger i närheten, så det är inget större problem.

Helt klart värt ett besök – särskilt om man vill ha något annat än ett vanligt standardhotell.

Facilities are extremely limited - not much parking other than public parking in the area, no food other than breakfast, no wellness etc. In essence you get a room in a normal city house for the price of a four star hotel. I don’t get that and for sure don’t get the assessed stars for the property nor the achieved ratings. Breakfast was decent and the staff were friendly.

Prima hotel in rustige buurt.

Prima hotel in een rustige buurt. Goeie restaurants op loopafstand. TV is een vrij oud model die een vervelend kraakgeluid maakt. De mediabox kwam niet verder dan een stuk of tien duitstalige zenders. Hotel beschikt niet over nee lift wat vervelend is als je veel bagage hebt en opnde tweede verdieping slaapt.

Es gibt nur 20 Zimmer, aber jedes Zimmer ist wunderschön eingerichtet! Wir waren im Juni 2025 zu Gast & hatten ein Zimmer mit Balkon & Blick in den kleinen Hotelpark.
Man ist super nah an & schnell in der Stadt, aber sobald man die Villa betritt, ist es sehr ruhig & man merkt nichts vom Großstadtleben.
Das Bett war super bequem, die Einrichtung 1A! Andere Gäste im Hotel hat man nicht gehört.
Parken konnte man auf dem Grundstück oder wenn man Glück hat, direkt an der Straße.
Das Frühstück war sehr lecker & qualitativ hochwertig & hatte alles, wonach wir uns sehnten!
Die Bar ist auch zu erwähnen, um gemütlich bei wirklich schöner Musik zu verweilen.
Sehr schön fanden wir auch die alten Spiele (z B Domino) aus Holz, passte wirklich perfekt zum Ambiente!😍
Nicht vergessen möchten wir den wirklich freundlichen, tollen, höflichen Rezeptionisten Chris, der einen grandiosen Job gemacht hat & uns auch noch was zu der Geschichte des Hauses erzählt hat.
Wir kommen definitiv wieder & freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal!❤️

Wunderschönes Hotel im viktorianischen Stil

Das Hotel ist wundervoll. Es hat uns vor allem durch das tolle Ambiente beeindruckt. Unser Zimmer war sehr schön im alten viktorianischen Stil eingerichtet. Der Frühstücksraum und die Lobby waren ebenso viktorianisch geprägt und haben uns ebenfalls sehr beeindruckt! Man muss so etwas mögen, aber uns hat es sehr gut gefallen!
Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und das Personal war sehr freundlich!

Villa Achenbach ist ein sehr gutes Hotel mit Charme. Die Zimmer sind groß und authentisch eingerichtet. Besonders gut haben uns das Bad und das weiche Bett gefallen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Lediglich das Essen können wir nicht bewerten da wir auswärts gefrühstückt haben.

Traumhafte Zeitreise

Die Villa sieht von aussen traumhaft aus und es setzt sich innen fort, es ist so als ob man eine Zeitreise ins Jahr 1907 macht, aber positiv gesehen. Der Komfort und Luxus ist auf dem heutigen Stand. Badezimmer top! Wir hatten eine Junior Suite. Wasser stand kostenfrei bereit.
Kleiner Kritikpunkt, eine Kaffemaschine sollte heute standard sein und war nicht vorhanden, auch die Minibar sollte heut zu Tage im Preis mit drin sein.
Zum Frühstück kann ich nichts sagen da wir keines hatten, aber der Preis von 15€ ist üblich für 4 Sterne Hotels.
Alles in allem aber ein schöner Aufenthalt
