The hotel is not on the standard level as other hotels in the same brand. It is running more as a budget family hostel, very unprofessional with poor quality service. Hotel is located in the corner of cross streets, facing the tram station, and next to a 24-hour bar, very noisy.

I think the price i paid for it and what we got in the end was not really worth it as i paid for 1/2 price elsewhere and got 5 star service. Hotel location is somewhat near the train station. Many halal and turkish restaurants around. Hotel itself, not many ammenities. Not very well lighted. Very basic.

Hotel was a bit out of the main part of town but within walking distance to the old town (30mins). Hotel had lots of renovation noise occurring and we had an issue over the breakfast whether it was included or not but this did get fixed.

Nicole and the staff were fantastic! We had a jumbled schedule and they were incredibly helpful, hospitable, attentive and friendly. The hotel itself is a little dated, but it is clean. I can handle clean and dated over modern and nasty any day! The primary issue was the Wifi. It was an obstacle for getting work done. There were periods when it would work well and others when it was almost nonfunctional. Even though that is a significant minus for me, the staff's willingness to try and meet our needs, their friendliness and the price made this a value and I would consider staying there again.

I was on a layover to Chicago and picked this hotel for my one night stay. And even though it was a one night stay I was absolutely pleased with everything this location had to offer. Hotel was clean, staff was super friendly, location is great and close to everything. It's on a busy intersection but they did a great job on soundproofing the rooms. I didn't hear a thing from the traffic bellow. I would definitely stay here again if I happen to be in Dusseldorf

Hotel Residenz Review

I was very pleased with the staff. As well as their politeness it gave me excellent opportunity for me to practise my spoken German. Every time I visit Germany I endeavour only speak in German. This is the best way to improve oneself in a foreign language.

Although the weather was rather cold I enjoyed my short visit.

Great hotel

Hotel is ideal for those looking for a quality stay somewhere within budget. The location is 500metres away from the station and a 10 min walk to the Altstadt. Cannot fault the room and stay. Breakfast selection was also good!

Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the main station. Staff friendly, my room was small but I don't have a problem with that as I was using it to sleep in. The bed was comfy, everything worked, the breakfast was more than adequate. For the money paid for the room I don't think I have ever had better value.

Generally very pleasant, and the reception staff evidently speak many languages between them. We did feel the thoroughness of the bathroom cleaning lacked a little, and was a little surprised it would be possible to open the window and jump out! It was a short walk to the main station and some good Turkish Kitchen restaurants. It was also a little noisy being close to a large junction, and the trams were surprisingly noisy. The choice and quality of the breakfast was amazing and well delivered. Overall very pleasant and would have no hesitation in recommending Residenz or using them again

Excellent train service to/from airport as well. Hotel was very clean, nice European breakfast and friendly staff. Area immediately around the hotel a little run down. I'd been ripped off by this hotel!!!!.....

This is a cheap hotel that apparently only can make money by ripping off their customers, especially during commercial fairs and national holidays.
Smell like cigarettes all over the place. Old structure and not well maintained.
It’s based near to the Main Train Station, and this is the only advantage.

The Residenz Hotel is a great independently owned hotel where service and charm rule. The location is terrific - walking distance to the train station and theaters. A 10-15 stroll to the Altstadt, Ko and the new harbor. It is in an eclectic neighborhood with lovely small restaurants, stores, and markets reflecting the neighborhood's immigrant population. Quiet, but with a nice hum of urban Düsseldorf.

I stayed in the hotel for 4 days during August 2012: single room was very pleasant, spacious and comfortable, with double bed, good bed linen, minibar (which can be used as fridge for small items), bed-side chests, large TV, large full-length mirror, shower/toilet in a good condition. Tea/coffee machine is in a hallway with variety of teas. The breakfast buffet was very satisfying; staff and the overall service was great as well. Location is very convenient, right in the city center, 8 min walk from main train station with a lot of buses and trams even closer (3-5min), bus from the airport stops right there (you will see the hotel name from the bus). A supermarket open till late is located at the steps of the hotel. Lots of cafes and restaurants are nearby. For the price I got – I was very happy with the hotel.
Drawbacks:
1)On Sunday night was noisy from the traffic even with closed window, during the weekdays was quit.
2)Not very nice smell in the room, not very strong, but detectable, windows should be opened slightly all the time.

the hotel is within easy walking distance of mainline rail station. The room was comfortable, clean but as we were on the front of the hotel it was a little noisy in the evening. The breakfast was excellent value, a huge variety of everything continental!. would recommend this hotel as very good value for money.

Convinient location and great breakfast

This Hotel is conviniently located on the outskirts of Dusseldorf city. It has access to a tram stop (Worringer Platz), is near the main railway station and is a short stroll to the main shopping street (Shadow Str.) The hotel breakfast is great, there is plenty of food and lots of options. The only problem we had was the lack of reception staff, we couldnt find anyone to check us out on the last day.

In the middle of nowhere in a not so-good neighbor

This hotel is located in a not so-good neighborhood. It is walking distance to the train station (a place you don't want to hang out around). You have to take the train or bus to all points of interest and usually make a connection. The room was so small that we had to walk sideways between the beds and the walls. Breakfast was ok - nothing special about it. Worst thing: NO INTERNET!!!! I dont see myself going back there.

this hotel is located in the city therefore expect traffic noise, this did not affect our sleep

TV in room had several channels (none in English and english films were dubbed over in German) Fine for me but not for my husband who does not understand German

taxi from dusseldorf airport was €33.00 with Tip and return €28.00 the underground and tram are very close for an alternative option

The staff was very attentive and helpful. The room was a great bargain for the money I paid for it. I was at the Radisson in Medienhafen the night before and thought it would be a significant downgrade. But it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The room was comfortable, spacious. The bedding was comfortable. Internet is 5 Euros extra. As I decided that I didnt want to sleep off my jetlag instead of browse the net, I decided to return the cable. The internet money was refunded. No fuss.

The breakfast was really good and it is really close to the Hauptbahnhof (Main Station), making transport really easy.

The hotel is very welcoming and convenientl located for main railway station,room is clean and comfortable and i do like the clear glass lift! There are many shops and bars near by .
The hotel provides an excellent breakfast buffet and free tes/coffee on the first floor.

Mini bar is well stocked but expensive compared
to the prices in a kaisers supermarket opposite! The hotel appears to be in a red light district but don't let that put you off! only thing i didn't like was that the bed was too hard,staff seemed friendly and polite.
Price wise is good for location and i would probably use it again!

Very noisy room (directly on two main roads). There was a 3rd bed, although we only booked for 2, leaving almost no space to move in the room. Although the staff assured us to remove the 3rd bed, it remained in the room during the whole stay.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights having read the reviews about it on hotels.com.
I can say that our stay was very comfortable.The rooms were clean and well maintained.There was free tea and coffee available all day and the breakfast was superb considering the price of the hotel.The staff on reception were excellent and of great help and more than accomodating with their assistance.
It is about a 15 minute walk from the Ko and old town however there are plenty of shops on route.
Without a doubt this is the best value hotel I have stayed at and wouldnt hesitate to stay again upon returning to dusseldorf.It is about 2 minutes away from central station for all bus and train travel.
As mentioned in previous posts the only possible down side is that its on a main road and there is traffic noise however we never found this a problem at all.Highy recommended.

I had a two night stay at the Hotel Residenz. Just around the corner from the main rail station & within easy reach of the City Centre.
Very clean rooms & staff on hand if you have any problems.
Breakfast was well presented & plenty there. No hot food but that is to be expected in european hotels. Coffee & tea were plentiful with as variety of flavoured teas as well.
On the whole, very satisfied with a good quality economy hotel.

Hotel staff (front desk and breakfast room attendant) very friendly and knowledgeble about local attractions. I arrived at this hotel from airport via S11 train to Dusseldorf Hbf station (main station). No need to take the sky train at the airport to the station where you can also take the S1 to Dusseldorf Hbf because the S11 train is located walking distance from where you pick up your luggage (station entrance is opposite to McDonalds with escalator going underground). Paid only 2.30 Euro for train ride.
Hotel room was a little shocker to me when I entered (mind you I am accustomed to larger rooms and travel with my family as opposed to travelling alone this time). Single bed ...very small room but cosy and comfortable for the night. I usually don't complain about noise but this is the first hotel ever where I was aware of outside traffic and actually had to shut the window to be able to sleep. I instead opened my bathroom window and closed door for circulation in the room.
I was able to purchase travel card at this hotel. Travelling to this hotel from Dusseldorf Hbf by walking I did get lost and wandered about unnecessarily with my suitcase even though the walk is only about 13 min long. From main entrance at the train station turn right and when you get to the traffic lights it gets tricky. You have to curve right to cross the road (but i kept walking along the curve and under the small overpass) after crossing, you have to curve left and then cross again to get to the hotel...my google map was even confusing for me lol.
Hop on Hop off bus is located right across the train station (get out main entrance and cross the road at the lights and turn right ...head in direction of tourist info).
Breakfast room was very clean presented nicely. Food consisted on different breads, cheese, meats , cereals and fruits and hard boiled eggs. Juices and tea and coffee was also available. Nothing high end but very nice for the price of the hotel.
From the main Dusseldorf Hbf station you can obtain many different U (underground trains) to get to various destinations. I carried a train route map available for free at the stations with me to get around.
Don't expect high end hotel room, instead a clean and cosy room to rest up in at night after sightseeing with decent breakfast. I bought my alcohol from nearby stores to consume in my room at night. There also is no posting about telephone usage but you are charged a fee upon departing. good for the value :)

The hotel was 5 minutes from the Euroline stop and 10 from the main railway station and the tourist information centre. Only one problem that check in was not until 14:00pm which I found a bit late. The hotel was clean as was the room. If you fancy a tea or coffee there was a station on the first floor for this free of charge and self service. Breakfast was first class. Overall you could not complian.

Great hotel, even better location. Dusseldorf is a must. Loads to see and do. The old town has a great atmosphere. Try the ALT beer (black beer) its a must. Everyone is so friendly. Swiney Janes will serve you with a fantasic typical german dish.
The boat trip down the Rhine is a great experience, as the tower. I would recommend you make your own way to and up the tower though to save you money. It is in easy walking distance from the old town.

We cant wait to go back.

The Residenz Hotel is very conveniently placed near the station in Dusseldorf. At a reasonable price the rooms are fine and so is the breakfast - the hotel is well run. Main disadvantage is the noise of traffic outside: it's best to keep the windows shut, which is fine in winter but not so good in summer.

Yes this hotel is in the centre of all the attractions in Dusseldorf. It has an amazing breakfast buffet and there are many restaurants you can eat at, which is only about a 5 or 10 minute walk from the hotel.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, great customer service, they speak English as well as German.
Overall, I cannot wait to go back again.

Avoid this hotel - horrible, closet-sized room - very poor service - dangerous neighborhood

I was given a tiny closet sized room in an attic - elevator goes to 5th floor only, closet room is on 6th floor. There was no one in the lobby when i check in, and the lobby was locked shut when i arrived after my meetings - i was fortunate to have checked in early - else i would have been on the street for the night - where I was accosted by a hooker 1 block from hotel late at night. Unless you want to risk your safefy, put up with non-existent service and stay in a closet, look elsewhere.

Better than expected!

This hotel was a good value and better than expected for three stars. It was the lowest priced Hotel I could find during March 2011. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I was able to purchase internet access for my laptop for $5 daily. They have a nice breakfast. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is good if someone needs to use public transportation however not necessarily the best part of town.

Worst Hotel I Have Stayed at for Years

This place was a nightmare. The hotel uses a funky and very old internet system - where you get a device that plugs into the power plug of the wall and then run an ethernet cable to your computer. And I kid you not, the room was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in for years. The curtains were thin and nasty letting in all the light from the street. My room was next to the hotel's sign - which is brightly lit - I called down to complain and they finally shut the hotel sign off around 10 pm so I could sleep. I definitely won't stay in this hotel again - ever.

The Residenz Hotel is located only a hundred metres or so from the Dusseldorf Station, which is very convenient. However the area felt a little dodgy, and we would not have felt safe venturing out along after dark. The rooms were fine - the decor is very dated, but they were clean, and had all the facilities we required. The dining room for breakfast was fine, again a bit dated but it had everything we needed. Overall, the hotel was fine for our requirements. It needs updating, but it was affordable and we had no problems.

Good hotel with glass lift

A very good hotel in a very convenient location in Düsseldorf (the airport bus stop is only 100m away and the main railway station is 1 tram stop away). One of the guide books warned about the Worringer Platz/Hauptbahnhof area after dark but it was fine and it doesn't appear threatening in any way. The hotel itself has the unusual feature of a glass lift which looks out over the square. Breakfast was very good, I don't think I've ever had such a wide choice of breakfast cereals.

Good value for money

Residenz Hotel is a nice smaller hotel conveniently located near the main railway station and ca. 25 minutes walk from central Königsallee. There's a main tram stop right at Worringer Platz, from where you can get to most interesting locations in 20 minutes. The hotel itself was good value for money and the complimentary breakfast was ok. However they should work on their internet service. I find a wired internet connection charged pr 24 hrs to be inconvenient and expensive. There was no wifi.

excellent value for money real friendly and helpful staff and very clean hotel would reccommend to anyone visiting dusseldorf as the hotel is centrally located for transport and walking although on a busy road junction traffic noise was not a problem and breakfast buffet had good selection thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Great options if you need the Railway station or Eurolines

This hotel is perfectly located within 3-4 minutes walking to the Eurolines bus station, and 7-8 minutes from the Central station (Dusseldorf Hbf). Breakfast is FANTASTIC. In-room internet is 5 Euro per day.

Excellent For The Price

A budget hotel with 4 star value. excellent service and convenient location near the train station. It's hard to find faults, but you'll have to find another neighborhood for good restaurants and shopping. The low cost will allow you to stay in this beautiful city longer. The above average breakfast is worth noting. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

This hotel is cheap and cheerful. It is very clean but basic, we definately got more than what we paid for with excellent service. 2 complaints would be the noise of traffic but if your a heavy sleeper not a problem! It was very hot in Dusseldorf at the beginning of July a 37 degrees but this is unusual, due to this the room was very hot but the hotel supplied a small fan free of charge and opened the windows as wide as possible for us. 1 tip if you want fresh towels leave the dirty ones in a pile on the floor! 5 - 10 mins walk from the main station which is great for getting to Altstadt the place to be!

Great breakfast

The breakfast is great. Lots of choice with good quality food. I will stay here again if I go back again and would like to recommend this hotel to everyone.

Very close to center train station and old town. The last day, we had late flight, and they let us storage our luggages for free which made our day.

The downside of this hotel: 1. noise - if you do care. 2. No lobby to sit. Both didn't bother us anyway:)

Hotel Residenz Duesseldorf Decent room

The hotel was all around nice. It was a bit noisy at night though due to the trams rolling past; this would not have been a problem if the hotel had rollerblinds. The room had it's own single cup coffee machine which was a very nice touch. Breakfast was good and included 6 or 7 newspapers to read. A very convenient location too. Recommended.
