Our stay was overall pleasant, and the resort has a nice atmosphere. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. The bed sheets were very light, and heavier bedding would make the stay more comfortable. The bathroom also needs some upgrades and better attention to detail to match the rest of the resort. With improvements in these areas, the overall experience would be much better.

The resort is wonderful. I stayed for 5 days and I was extremely happy with staff. They are very attentive and always greeting you with a smile. The rooms are very clean. The food was absolutely delicious and the whole vibe was relaxing a overall happy. I will gladly return.

If you are looking for a “caribbean experience” close to the beach…this is it. However, if the beach scene isn’t your goal, you may want to look elsewhere. We had a group and chose the property for our last night in country. It was pretty noisy with party music and lots of activity until 11PM. Emmanuel at the desk was very friendly and helpful…however there was a misunderstanding with the breakfast buffet. We went to the restaurant expecting it to be free and the waitress was rude indicating that we must pay. Had she handled the situation better, we would’ve likely ordered there instead of going off site for breakfast. Beds were ok, facilities are somewhat dated. View of the ocean-beautiful. Beach access and quality—great!

Staff were fairly friendly, but some seemed annoyed that I only spoke English and I was actually ignored on 2 occasions when trying to order a drink. Management kept saying if we had issues to let them know, but every time we did, they would say there was nothing they could do about it. We were there 2 weeks and had no running water on 3 occasions for over 2 hours minimum and one time for 8 hrs! Beautiful beach and lovely locals made our trip worth it, but this resort has a lot to be done to make it a place worth returning to!

Staff was great, room needs extermination for ants in the bathroom. Pool was great but the beach you can't relax and enjoy because every 2 minutes someone is trying to sell you something, I respect the hustle but no is no and they keep on other then that everything else was fine.

Overall I would say the customer service needs a bit of an improvement. Rooms could be updated with simple things, like a mirror in the bedroom, corner shelves in the shower, being able to contact the front desk on the phone instead of walking there each time for a simple question, concern, room issue. Having some clarity if there are issues that occur like no running water (apparently it occured also in other areas in DR) so not completely the hotels fault, but atleast tell guests what is happening. More lounge chairs for the amount of guests that are there.

The staff was wonderful and very hard working. The pools were always clean and they were constantly cleaning. The resort advertised tennis courts and there were none. The activities were limited and the entertainment in the evening was not very entertaining to me. Apparently some of the rooms are nice but the one we had needed a lot of updating. I need an accessible room and although there were grab bars in the shower there was none by the commode which was problematic. Some of the walkways were flat but to go to the reception area, the smaller pool, the gift shop and the à la carte restaurant there was uneven stones with holes and if it wasn’t for my teenage grandsons I never could have gone to those areas.

The shower water smelled like pure sewage, the toilet was filthy, the sheets are too small for the bed and the tv did not work. I complained the same day I checked in and they told me to run the water and it will go away. It didNOT go away!!!! Couldn’t get pool towels the whole time we were there cause they claimed not to have. The food was NOT good. I will never return.

The room conditions were horrible and disgusting. The pillows had small bugs crawling around and animal feces. Upon complaining they switch us to a different room. Another disturbing situation was seeing a cockroach crawling in the buffet area near the food. I wouldn’t recommend this place or return. Finally, the pictures listed on Expedia are not accurate to the actual rooms.

First it'll, when we came the receptionist check us in and told us to go straight and make a left for our room,he didnt say it was in the third floor with no elevator,next day the service from breakfast it was terrible there was no natural juice ,sometimes no cups, and no coffee cups, and no plates,,and the beach it was no control over the venders, i dont mine one or twice, but not all the time,if this an all inclusive hotel, why do u need a deposit for beach towels,and i couldn't even it in my room

I’m so glad we had a great stay at this all-inclusive resort in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. My wife and I visited for my birthday 1/21 2026 to 1/ 25 2026.From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations.
The room was spotless, very comfortable, and cleaned daily with great attention to detail. The staff truly stood out—everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with a smile. Customer service here is excellent and makes you feel valued as a guest.
The amenities were great, from the cleaning pool and beautiful and calm beach and it access access to the food, the buffet and drinks included. Everything was well organized, relaxing, and perfect for enjoying a stress-free vacation. The resort itself is very clean and well maintained.

Honestly, all of the above. This place delivers on every level.
We would absolutely return and highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Whala Boca Chica. 🌴🇩🇴

Service was slow and messy.
They would take forever to serve, clean, welcome, or at table. It was not well organized. Dinning was always full with dirty tables. Food was not great. They need to work on culinary food and better options
Staff was ok. Our room smelled like sewage all the time. The water was never functioning between midnight and about 5am. No water at all.
One of the night shows with the culture of DR was great, I enjoyed that BUT the other one was degrading women and sexualising them. I did NOT enjoy that, not very family friendly.
They did not have plenty of beach sitting or outdoor tables or chairs.
Beach was clean.
Room was spacious and outside there was a rack to hang wet clothes.
They can also have more activities thought the day.

The food was not all that great and the beer tasted spoiled, but they had amazing staff and they definitely made up the for the rest. The rooms are in need of some upgrades especially the bathrooms. Also the night club does not open during the weekdays which they do not disclose on their website or to clients when we come in, that was a bummer because I only picked this property because I did not want to have to exit the property to party.

Overall amazing staff, food and drinks not up to par of the price of the stay.

My sister and I stayed at Whala Boca Chica from Dec 22 - 28 and we had the best time! Check in was simple and courteous. We arrived a couple hours early so we couldn't go to the room yet. They give you your wristbands and take your luggage to an office room that allows you to explore the resort until 3pm. Immediately we were greeted by bartenders ready to make us a drink to take to the beach. At 3, a helpful staff member showed us to our room and carried our luggage all the way there. We stayed in a double frontal sea view captain room and it was great. Very clean, cold AC and fridge, no issues. We had a balcony with a breathtaking view. Dining was good and the buffet had plenty of options at each meal. The snacks were so convenient for a late night bite. The beach was stunning. Lot of cabanas and places to sit. Once we reached the weekend, it became slightly crowded and the drinks were a little watered down, but it wasn't really a problem for us specifically. You can also order straight shots at the bar. Watet was available throughout the resort to stay hydrated. There were also fun activities and shows each day/night. Overall it was such a memorable experience and we'd love to return!

We had a great experience in this hotel during our stay. The staff remained friendly, helpful, and attentive. We would like to give kudos to Virgilio at the reception, Juana at the buffet, Yhon and “Chichi” at the bar closest to the buffet. Very clean, food was great (except the snack bar), beach was beautiful. Could use more chairs on the beach and around the pool. If you don't claim in the morning, you will likely have a hard time getting some. Activities were good. Spanish speaking highly recommended. If we didn't have flue t Spanish speakers in our group it would have been a bit more challenging to navigate our week. Vendors on the beach are constant but No Gracias is all it takes, and get, we bought from many of them and got multiple messages. Really enjoyed our stay.

Staff was very unpleasant especially Ernesto manager was yelling at me when i was filling complaint about not working tv in the room there were 2 adults one child and we had only 2 towels. Rooms were cleaned but very outdated. Food was okay dining area very dirty tables especially when i asked to clean table i got yelled by employee and when asked for silverware i was told to first sit down to get it. Parking was impossible to use because people from city who came to the beach used that and the staff told us to drive 3 blocks down to park which we refused because we paid for hotel with parking on a side. I would never stay there again

It’s everything anyone could need and want. Staff are very friendly and attentive, rooms are cleaned daily. Food was good and for Xmas and New Year they really made it special! It’s right on the beach with private beach, loungers and umbrellas. Two swimming pools and 2 bars. WiFi is available.
The only issue we had was limited WiFi in the room which was fixed towards end of our stay and very loud music in the pool bars and especially after 9pm in entertainment area.
Also there is very busy bar restaurant just next to hotel that plays loud music at night and significant amount of visitors adds to level of noice

Although my room didn’t have a view, the overall experience at the hotel was delightful. The place itself was charming, and the staff couldn’t have been any friendlier. At the buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they kept everything spotless, clearing and cleaning after every meal with remarkable attention to detail. My only downside was that I expected more entertainment and opportunities for guest participation after meals or at the pool. Despite that, the cleanliness, service, and welcoming atmosphere made my stay truly enjoyable.

Whala! Is very dated. The pictures were taken a long time ago it doesn’t look like that now. Staff do not speak English so check in was a challenge. It’s all inclusive but in the drinks area there’s no Coke Zero, no Fanta, no sprite, just juices and basic alcohol. No labels!
The staff have very little enthusiasm.

The shop on sight has no prices the young boy makes them up as he goes along as how can someone actually remember the price of a whole shop?
The pool area was cleaned daily but the water always seemed murky. There is plenty of space but not enough beds.
The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, the shower was sometimes hot but often cold. The rooms were cleaned daily and to a high standard but the rooms are so dated. The front door is made of single pain glass which didn’t seem safe to us. On arrival you get two small bottles of water but then this is never replenished so you need to buy water.
The food was limited and basic so we ate outside the hotel.
I will not return to whala! It needs a big injection of money to update it.

Only thing i complain and really felt overwelmed for was that when we visited the beach there's lots of vendors booming you for: massages, jewerly purchase, tours... and a \"no thanks\" is just not enough to make them stop. They really insist and even get mad if you say: -no. Staffs at resorts should try stop this since i didn't get to enjoy so much the beach because of the situation.
