Room was a good size with a nice bathroom and a good safe. The breakfast ensured a good start to the day. I also used the pool, which was small but fun and did some running on the running machines. However, what really had an impact was the staff. I had good suggestions from the receptionists and the doorman. I would stay here again if I visited HCMC!However

Overall the location of this hotel was great and the air conditioner in my room kept me cool for my entire week’s stay. The breakfast was fresh and I appreciated how many different options they offered each day for different cultural tastes. However, I booked this hotel because of the nice photos and because Expedia listed it as a 4-star property but it definitely was not. My room did not even have its own window and I had no view of the outside. When I asked for a room with a window like the photos showed, they told me I would have to pay even more, which was a real disappointment after traveling for 24hrs and arriving to find out I was essentially blindsided for the entire week. The pool was nice but I just wish it truly matched the 4-star quality it claimed to have. The room also did not feel very clean and had more of a motel feel where dirt and grime slowly build up and start to show when things are not properly maintained. There also did not seem to be any designated quiet hours since the doors were not soundproof and the hallways echoed so much that you could hear everyone opening their doors and having loud conversations throughout the night.

The room had a very strong bleach smell, breakfast was quite inadequate with near empty jams and no syrup, the rooms window opened up to the hallway so light came through all night long and the bathroom lighing was very dark. The tv reception was very bad. This is not a four star hotel.

Staff at the hotel were very welcoming and helpful. We arrived and the driver dropped us across the street. The doorman rushed over and helped us across. He was there everyday and always welcomed us warmly. The breakfast was very nice and fresh. Very close to Ben Thanh markets but make sure that you check out the Ben Nhy food court/market around the corner. It is by far the best place to eat at in the area.

Never a four star hotel

This hotel is a complete dump - heaven knows how it got a 4 star ranking. I have stayed in 7 hotels on this trip to Vietnam, five of them 3* and the Sky Gem is well behind them in terms of quality.

The bedroom was without window, smelled damp and in need of renovation and redecoration with ancient electrical fittings. There was no proper desk/table to work at. No glasses bar tooth mugs. The bathroom had a small bath with mold on and around the grouting.

Breakfast was abysmal - no fruit jiuce, cold coffee (hot plate not even switched on), dishes of dried up food less than lukewarm. no cheese or tomato and the poorest selection of fruit I have seen at any Vietnamese hotel. The breakfast staff were like grumpy school dinner ladies barking at guests how many minutes they had left.

Even clothes sent to the laundry came back damp.

If you don't care about food, cleanliness or amenities, the location is good,

Lovely hotel in central location

Lovely hotel in a great location, 3 mins walk to Bến Thành market with lots of shops and rest nearby. The staff are all lovely and very helpful.

They should replace the bathtub. Because it’s too high for the tenants to get in or out of the tub. Also the exhaust fan for the bathroom to circulate the air.

Positives:
Matthew and (I think her name was) Vivian front of house staff were very polite, knowledgeable and helpful

Great location.

Bich and Hung especially Hung exceptionally good at massage and reflexology teqnique.

The superior room was a small double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (it felt as if the bathroom was inside the room itself - pretty cramped).

Experienced a lot of interruption on the English speaking tv channels

Doors are not sound proof, seemed to be ordinary doors (as when stood by the lift I could hear a couple being intimate)

Currently a construction site next to the hotel which insists on starting work at 7am (a lot of noise, banging, drilling)... whether you wish to have a late sleep or just relax in your room, it is not possible and out the control of Blue Diamond.

AC dated and is loud at night

Bed not very comfortable (but that is truly subjective opinion)

Breakfast is geared more to the Asian culture, there are egg options, but not cooked well at all, even the boiled eggs yokes are darkened due to length of heat. Very limited option of fruit, I was served only Watermelon. I didn’t enjoy breakfast at all and forfeited eating any on my day of departure.

Areas to improve:
Masseurs need to respect quiet time during the massage. The tend to talk to each other during treatment, and talk very loudly when not working which disturbs the enjoyment of the time spent.

The room was comfortable with bath tub. There is free breakfast buffet and afternoon tea. Hotel staff were friendly too. We book a day trip to cuchi tunnel over the hotel counter, and the travel agent pick us up at our hotel the next day for the trip. Nice service! Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

We had a good budget stay in Ben Thanh area for 5 days free and easy trip.
Jointed the local 1/2 day guided tour to Cu Chi Tunnel only 10 USD per head included entrance fee.
Went to War Museum on rental bike, paid 40,000 dong per head for entry ticket.
We had rental bike for two days travel round the Ho Chi Minh City from district 1 to 4....
Shopped at Lotte Mall, Taka Mall, Saigon Centre and a lot more.....
For those who like soft shell crabs should try out this place name Quan Thuy 94,
Last not least, Blue Diamond giving afternoon tea FREE... :) :) after a half day shopping, back to hotel to have a break and recharged with free tea refreshment, and continued the shopping till midnight.

Fantastic location in District 1 nice and central.

The staff were very attentive and friendly and were very helpful when booking tours or organising taxis. The buffet breakfasts provided a good range of options. Room service was brilliant and the room was clean - only minor drawback was a slightly musty smell. The spa provided a good range of services and the foot massage was awesome - very relaxing after a long day exploring Ho Chi Minh! All in all we felt the hotel was perfect for our needs - a quiet haven to relax in at night and very convenient. I would be happy to stay there in the future.

Can't beat location. Room was a bit tight for two persons but very clean and staff was very helpful. Ask for a room away from the elevator. Our first night was noisy because of elevator, but upon request, they kindly moved us to another. I must commend the hospitable staff. Pretty solid breakfast.

visited at march 2017, stayed at 6th floor. Acoustics isnt good. can hear people talking when they walk pass the room door. Bed and pillow is abit too soft. Room has smoke smell likely due to smoking neighboring rooms, bought a air freshener to keep the room air in OK condition.
Other then these, location is great, good food in walking distance away(try the local one opposite ben thanh food market for cheaper but good as well good), shopping is good as well.

Convenient and great budget hotel

The hotel was in a great location, within walkable distance to Ben Thanh Market, Saigon Square, war remanent museum, independence place, and president place. It is also reachable by Bus 109 from the airport.

Love how the hotel allows us to check in at 12pm, although we were supposed to check in at 2pm; we reached there around 10am. Was surprised that they knew who we were upon our arrival, as we have emailed them in advance despite not receiving any reply from them. Advisable to email them in advance if you want to check in early.

The room was great for a budget hotel; large enough for 2 pax and luggages, with bathtub, clean towels, daily replenished bottles of water and toothbrushes. The con side of the room was the non soundproof walls and uncleaned bedsheets; there were some minor blood stains on them. There also weren't much tv channels for us to watch, as most channels were in Vietnamese language.

In all, we think the hotel is great in their services, providing guests with complimentary tea breaks, as well as remembering their guests and which room they are staying in. Breakfasts were sufficient with a rather wide range of selection.

We will definitely be staying in this hotel again for our next visit.

Nice but not so nice..

Location is great, courteous staffs, clean room.
I have one big complain - they are doing some construction works at level 5 & it was very noisy. Specially on our 1st day as we want to take a nap & you cannot sleep even for a minute. The hotel should have advice their customers during check in.
Buffet foods are just so-so & you can observe that everyone doesn't enjoy their foods. They should consider to improve their menus.
