Mixed feelings. First impressions from arrival at reception were average at best. Room was good, although there was no hairdryer. When we asked, a brand new one was delivered to the room in minutes. Breakfast was hectic. They appeared short staffed, although the staff were very pleasant and tried hard to keep things running. We observed shortages of cups, glasses, silverware, the coffee machine was overrun, pastries ran out and salt sellers were non existant. Again the staff were pleasant and tried their best. Ultimately it needs effective management. Would stay again though.

Unfortunately, my experience was far below the standard I expected. Usually I find your hotel wonderful I get a great quick sleep and the amenities are great. It’s secure, nice and also quiet , which I really appreciate as most of the time as I’m going to bed people are actually getting up.
When I checked into my assigned room, I was shocked to find that it was already occupied by another guest, who was extremely distressed and jumped out of bed in his pants as i work on the railway so didn’t get to me room until 6am, i was then put in a single room when i booked a double and when I complained to hotel reception and wrote in my emails were ignored.

The room was a little disappointing. Seemed to have a big space in one corner which previously contained furniture. Besides the bed we had one chair and a dressing table. No fan or air-con despite the heat.

Disappointing! No heating on arrival, it was attended to but continued to be more off than on throughout our stay! It was freezing in the restaurant and were reminded to leave as breakfast was over at 9.30am, not what you expect in a supposedly high rated hotel!!! Coffee machines switched off no bread for toast, staff not happy. As we saw after leaving the staff were then having their breakfast so obviously we were holding them up!!! Not impressed!!

When my wife and I checked in to the Hotel at 15.00, we found the room very cold and the electric wall heater switched off. It took about 30 minutes to learn how to switch on the wall heater. However, the room was still very cold and so at 5.00pm we phoned the hotel reception to request a portable electric heater. The receptionist assured me she would check if one was available and call back, however, this never happened. So we had to endure the low temperature in the room. When we checked out the following day, I made an official complaint. The receptionist seemed disinterested in our plight and said she would report the issue to the hotel housekeeping. However, we did not get an apology. We feel the hotel management should have made some gesture of compensation for our bad experience. To date, we have not received anything.

lovely hotel but silly things let it down firstly lovely modern room but no walk in shower over the bath only with a old shower curtain a screen would be better restaurant no one watching products had to ask for everything needed and wait for it to arrive over 15 minutes for milk and had to go ask again before it arrived went for wedding should be a covered walk way from hotel to golf club only a short walk but if raining or in winter slippery would be soaked or could fall over before you got there and cost of drinks outrageous double our normal price and that was for a single shot of sprits not double would I stay again no

This is a fantasic hotel that seems to be lacking managerial oversight. On check-in the Receptionist was suffering with a severe cold with a high potentially passing it on to guests. In the bathroom there was a foul smell that on further investigation was coming from the shower drain which obviously hadn't been cleaned for a while. Matress protectors and duvet were stained. Thanks for the complimentary bottles of water but where's the fridge? At 6.45am I was rudely woken by the Laundry delivery truck unloading myltiple trollies in to the loading bay beneath my bedroom. It lasted for 20 minutes... I'm now fully awake.
At peak breakfast time it was chaotic... three young male staff trying to cope with no logic or order. Dirty uncleared tables not re-set for the next guests, unclean plates at the hotplate, hot drinks machines out of order and out of teabags, the cereal, pastries and bread counter was a complete mess with burnt toast and bagels just left on plates. Where was the supervision... in the foyer doing paperwork and chatting to the cleaner (who for some reason is cleaning the foyer during peak checkout time between 10-11 am).
That said, I enjoyed my stay and I liked the comprehensive and tasty full English breakfast. The setting of the hotel is beautiful and the communal area in and around the foyer is fantastic. Thumbs up also to prohibiting smoking outside the Main Entrance to the Hotel. Refreshing to see.

Booked a table for 4 in the restaurant, food was poor and dry, not wurth the money, staff were hopeless as told weddings were on so they were short staffed, bathroom had black mould around the bath and lights out, poor experience for the cost

However booked a double room and was disappointed to find it was two twin beds pushed together, with rather a noticeable dip between the two which made it rather uncomfortable when sharing a bed.

We attended a wedding reception at the hotel recently. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, with easy check in and check out. The hotel is located in a very quiet setting. We will visit again when visiting the area.

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. The bar food and breakfast were both very nice and the bar prices are very reasonable compared to some other hotel brands. We stayed in a junior suite which was very nice indeed. The decor is very modern and appealing and the conditions room is a little gem too. My plans now are to return to play some golf here some time soon.

However, the overall standard was seriously let down by room maintenance.
As a builder, I immediately noticed that the room felt damp & that this was caused by the Bathroom Extractor Fan not working, hence when showering the room was quickly steamed up & this transferred to the Bedroom.
I reported this to reception, twice, but was informed that the maintenance crew did not work at Wkds.
This meant that the room was damp & uncomfortable, which rather spoilt an otherwise eadant stay.

The hotel was lovely and the room was spotless.
One downside was the lack of flexibility from the restaurant- one of my daughters is a very fussy eater and wanted a burger, which is only served on the bar menu but not on the restaurant menu. We asked if this could be served in the restaurant while the rest of us ate from the restaurant menu but we were told this wasn’t possible, despite the food from the bar menu being prepared in the same kitchen as the restaurant - this was disappointing.

The hotel is in nice quiet grounds and includes a golf course. The are some pleasent walks to be had and the general ambiance is a quiet calmness. The rooms are standard hotel size but fitted out to a high standard. Parking is easy too.
Some small points about breakfast. There is a notice by the plates for cooked breakfast that they will be hot but no servietts to hold them with. The toaster was rather inefficient and I could not find any teaspoons. The hot breakfast was well cooked and there was a good variety of options.
