Not enough parking. Had to twice park in lower dirt lot and schlep said heavy luggage a long distance across parking lot, while stalls near room were taken by a boat??? and a motorcycle.
Name of the hotel is a misnomer. There are no views of the beautiful Bay of Islands.

The hotel itself was very nice. Lots of trees and parking spots. 10-15 min walk to the warf is very convinient. The room was big and had a very nice back patio. Uunfortunately the room had a very bad urine odor. We had to keep windows open or run ac unit non stop to vent the room. Since we only slept there for two nights it was fine but if you plan to stay longer or spend time in the room be aware of the smell. We appriciated ability for midnight check- in since our flight was delayed.

From the moment we arrived, check-in was fast and friendly, setting the tone for a great stay. The rooms were very spacious, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed, including a fridge and plenty of spare towels. The bathroom was immaculate, and the air conditioning was amazing — a real highlight.

Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options to suit everyone. The pool area was well maintained, with pool towels readily available, which made things easy. Check-out was just as efficient and hassle-free as check-in.

The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to shops, and there were lots of brochures available for local activities.

Most of all, the staff were consistently friendly and welcoming.

Would happily stay again.

I got very sick the evening before I checked out. The front desk gave me an extra hour in the room and I was able to rest in the pool area for 4 hours before I was due to leave for the airport. I had a tour booked that day but there was no way I could have done it. Having a place to stay put was immensely helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The property is simple and clean. Lots of rooms but it didn't feel too busy. Pool and lawn games were a nice way to spend the afternoon. It's a little bit of a walk to the majority of the restaurants, but easily doable. There is also an onsite restaurant (we didn't try it but there were quite a few people there).

We had an amazing time at this hotel! Great facilities, everything was always kept clean and tidy, the pool and grounds were maintained beautifuly, and the food at the hotel restaurant was wonderful! Hotel was an easy walk into the main tourist area and marina. The manager Debbie was absolutely fantastic - cannot say enough about how kind and attentive she was to us, espcially to my elderly mother. We had an issue with the AC at the start of our stay and she came in person to check it out and bring maintenance people to fix the issue. She was also very sweet to my mom, actually running her into the main marina east day so that she wouldn't need to walk. All in all, cannot recommend this hotel and staff enough! We would love to return!

We liked our stay here. Overall the property is well maintained, our room was nice, spacious and clean. The only drawback was that our room was on first floor accessed via wooden stairs. So with heavy luggage it is a slight challenge, but we liked our room on first floor as it had super high truss ceiling and overlooked a courtyard with balcony. There is plenty of parking available near each room so it is very accessible.
Only thing is that property is a few minutes drive away from main wharf area.

On the night of Matariki, we were staying at this hotel when some strangers started banging on our door in the middle of the night. We were terrified, and our child woke up crying. We couldn't sleep for the rest of the night. When we checked out and reported the incident to the management, they dismissed our concerns, saying that it was Matariki and that everyone in the area tends to be drunk and act strangely. We felt very unsafe during our stay.

Room was nice. However the tv only had 9 channels and the quality was absolutely awful probably 720p could also do with a small upgrade by adding a chrome cast.

Showers were alright. If you’re taller than 6ft you’ll probably have an issue as the shower is fixed to the wall.

Breakfast is a buffet but not the best one I’ve had. First day we arrived just an hour and 15min before the end of service and there was no hot food available. Only toast and cereal. There was a big queue for any hot food that came out.

Second morning we came to breakfast at 6:30am. Meal options average. Hash browns. Tiny basic sausages, baked beans, “yolky” scrambled eggs, mushrooms, plain mini croissants.

Pastries were good but there weren’t many.

No smart tv options.

The property is surrounded by green, close enough to the beach that you can walk, but there is no view from your room. The property is bit old, and not very clean, we found the previous guest earings on the night stand. Rooms are small but with high ceiling, \"neigbours\" can be loud if they choose to chat sitting outside. Staff are helpful and very friendly.

Overpriced and Under-Delivered

Booked a 3 day stay in the New Year. Room was large but dated.

Outside the room on the patio was a decomposing dead bird.

Black mould on the bathroom ceiling and spots on the walls.

Room was not serviced on the first day so I queried this with reception who explained that due to being 4 house keepers short the room wasn’t cleaned. They offered me replacement towels. The manager later called and offered to clean the room, this was done around 9pm. Although the bins weren’t emptied and replacement tea/coffee not provided. The next day the same situation. The room wasn’t serviced by 6pm so I spoke with reception who said it would be cleaned. This happened around 7pm.

On my final morning water was coming through the ceiling from the upstairs bathroom (through a light socket). Puddle of water in the bathroom. I informed the manager who was at reception and fed back on the issues experienced. She was apologetic and blamed issues with the laundry company for delays cleaning rooms. This differed to what I was told previously.

I slept poorly for all 3 nights that I stayed due to the poor sound proofing of the room. I was woken each morning by the stomping of feet and closing of cupboards and doors. This needs addressing.

Hotels guests smoking weed outside their room on the second day.

Disappointing stay. Avoid. Overpriced and under-delivered

Bustourismus Hotel, sanfte Renovation nötig

Dieses Hotel hat schon bessere Zeiten gesehen. Eine sanfte Renovation der Tische und Stühle in den Zimmern und insbesondere auf den Balkonen ist angezeigt.
Die Reinigung der Balkone ist schon länger nicht gemacht.
Das Hotel hat definitiv keine 4 Sterne verdient.
Superior Zimmer sind gross und Frühstücks Buffet ist in Ordnung, mehr aber auch nicht.
Lage in Zentrumsnähe ist von Vorteil, alles ist zu Fuss erreichbar.
