Excellent waffles for breakfast, great staff.

Older, smallish, comfortable room. I requested an upstairs room when booking through the Hotels.com app but was told upon arrival that they can’t change the reservation for some reason. It was pretty quiet. Excellent, friendly staff. The made-to-order waffles are great. Bagels, muffins are available as well. Not a full-continental breakfast.

The Sunset Inn was a great place to stay. The front desk, staff, and other guests were friendly! The room was comfortable and spacious. The entire property was clean and well-kept. Our small dog was welcomed. The only things that could have made it a bit more convenient for us was to have a little grass for our dog to go potty, a coffee pot in the room, and more exterior lighting on the parking lot! We would definitely stay here again on our next road trip!

This is one of the most affordable hotels in Alamosa. It’s not fancy. But, it’s clean, comfortable, has friendly and helpful staff, and is super close to Adams State University. The breakfast is basic but has fresh waffles. We’ve now stated there twice.

This mom&pop, built in 2017 according to the owner, is in excellent condition inside and out. But, the rooms cost 3/4ths what franchise places cost in Alamosa and they cut a few corners. Only blinds on the windows, the smallest bar of soap (but you could ask for more), good quiet A/C, a nice but more limited breakfast. Very clean, spartan, neat. The only complaint was that the pillows were like a sack of sand. I'd stay there again.

Site indicates a hot breakfast which is deceiving as its actually only waffles and bagels M-F and eggs and potatoes Saturday and Sunday. Cats running the hallways not sure they belong to, perhaps staff? However its just not professional! They have a marked emergency exit locked with a sign that say\" sorry of the inconvenience\" its a fire exit and that is a code and safety violation and needs to be unlocked and useable. The guy that works a night obviously doent want to be there and it shows, has very bad demeanor.

We have traveled all over the U.S. and abroad and I can say confidently that the lady at the front desk, Mindy was one of the friendliest, kindest and happiest employees of any hotel that I’ve ever visited. The only negative about our stay was that we couldn’t get the tv to work. The only option was to scan channels, but nothing would ever come of it. We had a staff person try but she couldn’t get it either. Had wanted to watch the Olympics🙂

Overall stay was nice. It was for 1 night. The staff was very courteous and professional. The individual who made breakfast also did many other tasks at the hotel and is a very hard worker. He was very friendly and even brought people items at their table sometimes. Would even come and talk with folks at the tables to ensure they were finding everything they needed. Very good example for other staff.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times in the past. I was taking an excursion with the friends of the cumbres and Toltec railroad in antonito Colorado. The only thing that I can recommend is that I wish they had a swimming pool!

Very nice and friendly front desk staff. The room was clean. I spent only one night and it was fine. The only problem was the breakfast, but it wasn’t a big deal. I went around 8 am and there were only few waffles left. The eggs , muffins, and bagels were gone. If you want to get that really good breakfast, get up early and try to be there at 7am.

The bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned. This is a big deal for me though it may not be for others. The sink still had soap scum on it. Difficult to see in the picture bc it was a white countertop. The gentleman at the desk was pale and sweaty and seemed to be highly distracted. We asked for towels twice, and I ended up having to go to the desk and just wait. The gentleman also allowed a cat into the building. There was only 1/2 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, and when we asked for more, he gave us two half rolls from the employee stash. Based on cleanliness and what we experienced, we did not feel safe eating breakfast there.

The morning breakfast was very limited for the price you're paying for their room and service. The morning shift staff wasn't helpful at all. He didn't seem interested in providing a decent service during the breakfast instead he's just trying to rush and wrap up the foods. Wouldn't recommend next time. Thank you

No hot breakfast past 7:30, Dirty cats in Hall

It was clean and comfortable. I called to confirm a late arrival and was told \"Expedia overbooked so we don't have the rooms that you requested.\" However, as soon as they got a cancellation they called us. The hot breakfast was not served for the full time scheduled. So we didn't get to have it. and 2 dirty cats were in the hallways - apparently belonged to maids who live onsite.

Staff was questionable. Breakfast was not good. They showed online to have a good selection, this was not the case. There was 2 muffins and a bagel. Cereals, & milk were very low. Had to find employee to have them make a waffle. Didn’t even have napkins available. If looking for a hotel with the convenience of breakfast DONT stay here!!

Very Clean, Well Appointed Room, Friendly Staff

Extremely clean, well appointed room & very friendly staff. It was nice to have a fridge & microwave in the room. The only complaint I have is that I didn’t know about the extra fee for using a credit card. I think it was 3.95%. It seems that more & more businesses are doing this these days. In my opinion it is a cost of doing business & the customer shouldn’t have to pay for it. How are you supposed to pay a hotel stay without a credit card? You can’t carry that much cash on vacation.

Room and bathroom was very clean. Complementary hot breakfast is not bad-- better than the \"continental breakfast\" some chain hotels offer. Warning: no coffee in the room, but I prefer to stretch my legs and head downstairs for the 24 hour coffee. No decaf coffee though. My suggestion is for Management to provide decaf teas, and perhaps a few hot chocolate sachets close to the hot water airpot. These are not complaints. This hotel provides good value for the money you pay. We enjoyed our quiet stay, mainly because this property is not on the main highway, yet conveniently close to wherever we wanted to go.

The staff were super friendly and down-to-earth. The area suffered a power outage the night we stayed, and the staff took extra care to make sure we understood what was happening and could find our way around. The room was basic but very clean & comfortable. The window coverings did not adequately keep out exterior light (no problem if you have an eye-shade). Midweek breakfast includes waffles made-to-order (no meat items). The staff added eggs and potatoes as a special \"thank-you\" for our patience during the town power outage - much appreciated! We had read about the hotel cats in other reviews. The cats have their own room overnight, and are outdoors during breakfast. The only time they are around is during the day, after most guests have left. They are very sweet - and we enjoyed hearing their stories from the employees! Would highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, quiet surroundings, and personality.

Front desk experience - wonderful!

I recently had a knee replacement. I was booked into a 2nd story room, but when I explained my problem with walking and climbing stairs, I was immediately booked into a ground floor handicapped room without any extra cost. The front desk lady was friendly, funny and very accommodating.

The only place I’ll stay in Alamosa

I always like staying there. Great price no frills just a safe, comfortable clean room. It’s not fancy but has everything you need for a comfortable stay whether it’s one night or multiple. I’ve stayed there a few times and will always stay there when I’m in Alamosa.

Property is fairly new, but just a block or two off the main \"drag\" so it was quieter inside and out. They also had a full complimentary breakfast with real eggs, sausage, and fried potatoes all freshly made by a hostess as we ate. Staff was very courteous and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Better than chain hotels

Nice hotel! The rooms are spacious and it was nice having the little kitchenette. Breakfast was great! Very animal friendly hotel, had cats walking around inside the morning I left. Outside grounds are still being renovated. There’s not a great grassy area for dogs to be walked, as everything is gravel. A turfed area would be a great addition to this hotel! Overall, nice place to stay especially for the price. I would definitely return.
