I love it here the beach is impeccable, it’s so serene! The place is clean and staff friendly. The spa is great. I will say I was a little disappointed in that there is no real gym last year there was a little outside gym nothing great but it worked, this year it was total demolished with only one machine standing. Other than that though I love it. Also, while being an Expedia gold member and getting the perk of 20% off the personal RT airport to hotel transfer that’s very convenient however there is an option to save money, there’s a ferry to look up no one told us about that option so I take away points for that but I also don’t mind the convenience of personal travel it just cost significantly more. Of course I’d go again hopefully the gym is upgraded next time.

Room was quiet, good sound proofing from windows, bed very comfortable. Evening meals in both restaurants were of a high quality and at times outstanding. Private beach was clean with amazing clear water. Reception staff were very nice and helpful in dealing with broken light and sink.

Unfortunately, we visited at the end of the season and lots of the spa facilities were broken. There were weeds everywhere in the lovely but poorly maintained grounds. Day trip boats pull up by the beach resort and use the ‘private’ beach and sun beds, which I found strange, as no one stoped them. Breakfast was of a poor quality (hard pastries, toaster a bit unsafe and took ages, fruit hard or tinned, had to queue for a hot drink drink then walk to the other side of the room for milk, fruit juice watery),

Great hotel with good facilities. Island was lovely and when the day trippers had gone home you had it to yourself. Coming to the end of the season so some of the area around the hotel was showing a bit of wear and tear, (decking on walk to private beach). Only other slight negatives were the Wi FI and hot water in the rooms shower (temperamental to say the least). Otherwise hotel, staff, location, food and other facilities were excellent.

Arrived at the hotel via the public ferry from Port Gruz, hotel is a 10 minute walk. The hotel itself looks superb and has an art deco vibe to it which we loved. THe reception staff were very friendly and provided a lot of information and assistance.

The rooms was clean and tidy and well looked after, only thing i would pick up on was that due to mosquitoes there were marks on the paint work where previous residents had got the little blighters!
The bed was incredibly comfortable and spacious, there was tea & coffee facilities which were adequate. The bathroom was clean, the shower was in a bath so if you have mobility issues you would need to let them know.

The breakfast was very varied and had something for everyone, it was a shame not to sample everything!

The hotel pool was lovely and quiet but a great suntrap. The beach is small pebbles so wear footware but the seas was lovely and the staff attentive.

We generally ate out for lunch and dinner but did have dinner in the hotel on the one evening, the steak was superb and cooked to perfection, the dessert was lovely and completed the meal.

The only reason it hasn't got 5 stars is it is due a referbishment and is a little tired in places but otherwise its a great place to stay if you want somewhere to switch off and relax.

Lovely hotel with everything you could need for a nice relaxing holiday. Private beach and spa was gorgeous, well looked after and not busy. All staff were friendly and happy to help with anything at all times of day and night. Shower in room was slightly temperamental with temperature but thats about it.

While this property is very beautiful. It is unfortunate that the staff is so unorganized. From when we arrived there was a lack of explanation on where certain things were in the hotel. Then a DAY after checkout I realized I had left some of my belongings in our room and called the hotel to see if I could arrange to come back and pick them up myself, or arrange for someone to get them to me somehow. I had to call 21 times, 21 times just to receive the answer that they could not locate the cleaning lady to ask her. I was told they would call me back the next morning- they never did. Not once. I had to involve local hotel staff at our other hotel, in order to arrange a private transport for my belongings via skipper to the mainland. Hotel RMH Lafodia did not even ask for my address to see if they could possibly mail it to me, nor did they ever even check the room! 3 hours before my flight departed and another 10+ calls, they finally acknowledged they had my things. Needless to say- I paid 200 euros to have my things brought to me on the mainland Dubrovnik, with little to no help from RMH staff. It’s unfortunate this is how my stay ended. I will not be recommending further.

The first day I was here I had breakfast. It’s from 7-10 am. I went at 7 so everything was fresh. The eggs were cold and the potatoes were overly salted. I let the server know about the eggs, he looked me dead in the eyes and said “I don’t care about your feelings” and walked away.

The third day, my door wouldn’t lock. I called the front desk, waited 20 minutes, called again, and then went downstairs. The latch where the door locks was broken off and the door panel wasn’t lit up as “door on, guest here” like the other rooms were. I asked housekeeping since they were a room over from mine how to get my door locked. They said “That door doesn’t lock but there’s a camera on it. So that’ll be fine.” I went downstairs and spoke to two receptionists; they informed me to leave my bags and come back in a few hours. I said “I prepaid over $2,000 for a hotel room. I’ve been here for 3 nights. I’m going out for the day and need to put my belongings in a locked room.”

On the website they state they have foam pillows upon request. I asked them 3 times for a pillow, because the one in my room was very stiff and I had neck aches for 4 days. I never received a foam pillow even though it’s stated on the website, they’re available upon request.

I was also charged for 7 days, and I stayed for 6 days. They refuse to refund me the $290 for the 7th day.

We have stayed at this property for many years and it is absolutely fantastic every time. Every room has sea view, the crickets are so lively and the rooms perfectly appointed and look brand new.

The hotel itself is good, and the private beach is great, but the food prices are extortionate. I went in July peak season, but paying 30 Euros for a burger and beer is ridiculous.

The whole island is like this, having a captive market of customers.

The breakfast is okay, nothing special.

Word of warning, on the Sunday night I arrived a bar on the Island played music until 3am at a DEAFENING level. I mean seriously loud, so there was no chance of me sleeping until it stopped. Fortunately this was just the Sunday night as it would have ruined the holiday had it been every night.

Also the website was vague as to whether there is a gym; there isn’t. It’s a small area outside about 2 minute walk up the hill with 2 dumbbells and a broken piece of resistance equipment.

Unfortunately, our shower leaked initially and we had no working phone for our entire stay. The food on-site is solid, pricing is fair, though it is nothing mind-blowing— I recommend venturing into town a couple of nights.

It is an absolutely stunning property, and I would recommend this hotel 100% because of this— but it is not perfect, so keep that in mind. The staff is SO lovely and so willing to help and or accommodate where they can.

What an absolutely amazing place. We have fallen in love with the hotel and the Island and didn’t want to leave.
However we did have a mess up at check in which I think the hotel could have handled differently. We checked in ( after the stated check in time ) and were given our room but when we got to the room it was already occupied. We were told by reception to take a seat and they would look for another room. The hotel was obviously not full but we were kept waiting for about 2 hours. Personally I didn’t think the receptionist really knew how to deal with the situation. Anyway we eventually got given another room which was fine. The place is so relaxing that the check in incident was soon forgotten.
Breakfast is basic but ok.
All staff were great and friendly, but a special mention and thank you to Venus who looks after the beach, so helpful and friendly. By far the most helpful member of staff at the hotel.
We will definitely be back

This hotel is located on an island in Dubrovnik. There is a 45 minute ferry to the island from the mainland. Well worth the trip. 6-10 restaurant options on the island, no cars, beautiful beaches. The hotel is stunning. Lots of options to relax: private beach, large pool, hot tub, spa, gym… or just taking in the scenery. It is a 1km walk along the shoreline from the ferry to the hotel.

We stayed in the Sky Cloud Suite and enjoyed the peace and quiet very much. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful with any request.
Small downside was that we arrived on a national holiday and there were no ferries going to the island until 8:30 PM so we were landlocked in Dubrovnik for almost the whole day (there are worse places to be stranded for sure). This is something the hotel could've warned us about and they could've even earned a sale on their own (expensive) private transfer.
All-in-all, we enjoyed the stay and we would recommend this place, at least in the early season when we visited and not at the full price we would've paid in summer.

A lot of potential but overwhelming disappointing

This hotel has a lot of potential. We chose it as the weather was looking a bit dubious and the hotel had a gym and spa advertised. We arrived to find that there’s no gym, the pool was shut for the day and that most of the spa was working (outdoor jacuzzi, indoor pool, jet spa, private indoor jacuzzi. The WiFi didn’t work for the three days we were there. The light of our floor didn’t work when we arrived. The staff we lovely but didn’t really know what was going on as a lot of them were in training. The hotel really needs some love and proper management. It would be great if they could sort themselves out

The hotel could be great, but why do they not encourage their guests to stay onsite at the hotel bar and restaurants?

When we did buy some drinks at the La Baja bar they were extortionate - 2 local lagers, one cola, and 2 rums - £34 by Croatian prices that's costly.

Infinity pool was nice, as was the sunbeds at the private beach, but the owners of the hotel really need to improve on keeping the hotel guests there, as nothing was opened...so it's not really as advertised on their website.

Can't fault the room however, it was excellent. :)

I \"Adora\" Hotel Amfora!
This place was so perfect that as soon as I arrived, I didn't want to leave the property!!! I enjoyed fabulous customer service from the start when Miralem rescued me and transported my luggage to the Hotel! Then, the manager, Elio, made sure that My stay was superb! I even dined in the Restaurant for dinner and it was delightful! I walked along the Adriatic and watched a beautiful sunset! Happy in Hvar!!!

The hotel is VERY NICE! The reason it’s not a 5 for me is initially they gave me some push back with an upgrade I was due to get but eventually after a couple of days got it together. The other thing that may matter most to you all is one of the jacuzzis don’t bubble up, the whirl pool which is so nice idk if it’s suppose to do something but it didn’t it was just a pool (amazing view). The gym I felt was advertised to be more than it was but it was still effective, I think they should add more to it but again still effective. For those reasons it’s not 5 star I would give it 4.5. I would definitely stay there again because the spa was very nice, jacuzzi nice, food was decent (morning breakfast hot and cold foods was good, the restaurants in the area are so delicious and very close in proximity.

Good hotel with a great outlook and private beach which is fantastic. Housekeeping is very good and the staff are generally friendly. We had good massages in the spa, our room was good and we really enjoyed our stay.

I’ve knocked off one star for several reasons. The “fitness area” is appalling, the worst I have ever seen. It is outside, which is the first negative, there are two machines, one of which is broken, there is a wooden pergola around it which is about to collapse and it is strewn with rubbish. They really need to find somewhere inside for a proper gym. Also breakfast ends at 10 which is far too early for a holiday resort, should be 11. If you want a lie-in or morning swim in the sea it doesn’t leave you much time as even getting there at 9:30 you feel rushed, it is not a relaxing start to your holiday day. Everything is cleared away by 10:05. Also checkout is 10, should be 11am. The hotel does need a bit of updating, the reception area decor is just weird. Having to call reception to change the temperature in your room is odd, but we got it right the first day of our 4 night stay so have no issue with it.

The hotel is beautiful, with modern decor and amazing views from the bedroom. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, like island hopping, kayaking, and music evenings, which were great.

However, everything comes at a high price. For example, there are no irons available for guests—you have to use their ironing service, which is ridiculously expensive (9 euros to iron one dress). They also don’t provide complimentary water.

There were also some service issues. When I called room service to collect clothes for ironing, they entered my room without knocking, which was uncomfortable. Additionally, when we tried to change our restaurant reservation, the manager agreed but never informed the restaurant, causing confusion.

While the hotel is lovely and offers lots to do, the high costs and service problems made the stay less enjoyable.

Poor and broken fitness facilities; no breakfast

We were grateful that the hotel had air conditioning and access to a beautiful beach. Still, we were disappointed in the fitness facilities and staff communication.
The advertised fitness facility was a significant factor in our decision to stay at your hotel. However, we were disappointed to find that it only had a very small “outdoor gym” with two machines, one of which was broken and unusable. For future guests who value a well-equipped fitness facility, this might be a point to consider.

The hotel provides very good breakfast. On our last day, we had to leave 15 minutes before the breakfast opened at 7 am so we arranged a box breakfast with the hotel reception the day before, giving them our room number. Number of occupants and time of departure. Unfortunately, when we checked out the next day, the receptionist said they did not have breakfast for us and that another family who had checked out earlier had taken our breakfast. I understand that mistakes happen, so I asked for a simple breakfast - yogurt, a piece of fruit and bread for our long journey, but we were told it was impossible. I found this confusing as I knew several staff members were one floor below preparing breakfast. Eventually, we were given two small plain yogurts for our journey (no spoons).

Poor and broken fitness facilities; no breakfast

We were disappointed in the services promised for fitness facilities and breakfast.
One of the main reasons we We choose this hotel because the profile said ir had fitness facilities. The images looked like it had gym equipment.
When we arrived we looked everywhere for the gym but could not find it. When we asked staff about it they told us they only have an “outdoor gym” that may not be operating because they had rainy weather. We finally found the equipment outside. There were two pulley operated machines but one was not useable because the cable was broken. Someone had manually tied the cable but it still had no tension so the machine was not usable.

We used the in house travel agents to book our airport transfer on the last day. They said we had to leave at 6:45 and it would take about 3-4 hours to get to Split airport. Because the breakfast opened at 7am, they said the hotel could provide us with a boxed breakfast. I arranged a box breakfast with the hotel reception the day before, giving them our room number. Number of occupants and time of depature. Unfortunately when we checked out the next day the lady at receptions said they did not have a breakfast for us and that another family who checked out earlier took our breakfast. I understand that musk takes happen so I asked if she could simply get us some yogurt, fruit and bread for our long journey but she said she can’t. I found this confusing as I knew there were staff one flore below preparing breakfast.

I don't usualy write reviews. However we went as a suprise for my wife on our anniversary. Straight away it looks magnificent arriving by boat. Very straight foward check in. Told us some things but just sai pop to reception and ask any questions we had. ( there was a que forming) always polite and I was gappy with that. Issue with room and we mentioned it and they forgot to look that day. Mentioned in the morning and they appoligised and went straight away. ( it didnt effect us) the vuews an room was spectacular. So quiet and peaceful with the clearest seas i hace ever seen. Staff all polite and made alot of effort, breakfast was ok but main food also awesome. Even swapped evening meal to dinner when we was going on a night trip. Couldnt fault it at all and wished we could of stayed longer. Fanstastic anniversary break with just the two of us.

The biggest and grandest hotel on the island

The biggest and grandest hotel on the island. Clean and very well appointed, staff very friendly and helpful, This was our fourth visit to the island and second to Lafodia, Breakfast was good and plentiful with several restaurant’s bakery and supermarket near by. The hotel and island are very played back and tranquil. But not cheap. Dinner for two can easily be £100.
The not so good bits
The bedroom temperature is controlled via reception which is a pain to ring every time you want a change.
The wi fi is none existent could not use for the entire holiday, when I complained I was met with a shrug of the shoulders and a response it is an island, yes the same island where most of the restaurants Han BG signal!
The bedrooms are well appointed and appear clean, but the maid missed ours one day, two other days only changed the towels and left no cleaning, on our last full day all the bedding was changed bizarre, the top up of tea coffee and milk was hit and miss.
Yes we have booked for next year but the hotel and island are getting too expensive.

It was probably a very nice hotel when it opened, but has not been maintained.

Spa hotel with a spa that was closed. Reviews on google suggest this happens far more than it should.

Reviews for restaurants looked awful, so we avoided them. Didn’t want to risk it as all other information seemed accurate from reviewers- wish we had checked before booking.

The island is nice though, although not much on offer.

Amazing hotel in Lopud!

It is a fantastic hotel , beautiful private beach , spa and pool . A pretty interesting outdoors gym with a fantastic view. Just be aware that there are not public ferries all day long , so if you arrive after 8 pm to Dubrovnik you will need to take a private transportation (boat because it is an island). Pretty calm island (at least in September) with multiple options of restaurants and bars .friendly and helpful team at the hotel. I will definitely return to this hotel in the future

This hotel is truely a 5 star hotel. I love the fact that we get access to the spa. I love the way they manage the collection of towels. The hotel is clean, serene and the facilitates very well maintained. The reception team great and very helpful. The waiters for both restaurants are not really friendly. I will highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

Highly recommended: Lafodia is located on a beautiful island of Lopud (Croatia) with lots of forests, fantastic hiking trails, crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea and plenty of good restaurants. The hotel is very nice, with fantastic beach, great food and super kind staff. My room was squeaky clean. Highly recommended. Excellent value for money. See u next summer, hotel Lafodia.

I simply loved everything about RMH Lafodia.
The moment I arrived to Lopud, I was delighted about the location of the hotel.
I go in, I received the best welcome from the staff! They were very very friendly especially Ivana. At that point, even before seeing my room and the other facilities, I knew I would have an excellent stay with them.
My room was super clean and comfortable.
The facilities, including the private beach & the spa were very well maintained. The breakfast was of a good variety. The green space was something else.
I really had the best stay there (I travelled solo) and I will be going back again soon!

Tranquil car-free island. Paths to walk, beautiful views, sea and pool to swim. This hotel just gets everything write - rooms all seem to have sea views, balcony, comfy bed. We were in early July - so not yet peak season - but really calm. Good music on every other night, out by the sea. The staff are amazing. Everything super clean. Breakfast good. Hotel private beach is great (nicer than the sandy one on the other side of the island). Very much want to go back to this place!

Our stay was amazing from start to finish. From the moment we arrived on the hotel’s private boat transfer( the only way to travel!), we were greeted by friendly staff, a lovely room and a beautiful view from everywhere in the hotel. Activities were easy to book but lying on the private beach or pool was easier!
We did feel the restaurant prices were too expensive but there are other restaurants a short stroll away. The evening live music in the bar was just the right touch. Thanks for a great holiday.

Amazing relaxing stay

We arrived on the beautiful island and made our way from the ferry drop off to the hotel where we received a warm welcome.

The room was great and the “partial sea view” we had booked was definitely selling it short given the great view of the sea that we had from the 6th floor.

I had pre booked a body scrub for both of us and the service from Luciano and his colleague was unbelievable. Fully recommend. He tapered the service to exactly what we wanted. Thank you so much for looking after us so well.

The beach area at the hotel is great and the waters clear and stunning. The local area is also amazing.

There’s a decent fitness set up on the top of the hotel which does the job too.

The pool area was very nice with lovely views.

The only thing I thought was a little steep was the price of soft drinks. €5.50 for a Coke Zero can felt a bit excessive. But that’s just a small niggle.

Fully recommend the hotel and the island though, we had a great stay and 3 nights just weren’t enough.

Lafodia hotel is an amazing place - from its location on the beautiful island of Lopud, to its architecture, amenities, rooms (each with sea view!), food (we had half board), beach, pool, and most of all its people. We had the most wonderful family vacation - a full week of fun for 8 people aged 2 to 83. We also had family accommodations for the young couple with 2 kids - 2 connecting rooms - which was very comfortable. We also used Lafodia’s speed boats for transfers, which I highly recommend. Lafodia’s staff is knowledgeable, courteous, professional and kind. They are ready to make a vacation memorable. I have no words to thank all of them for their kindness and care.

Our room was overall good, the service was very poor- staff were unhelpful and unfriendly- they were abrupt and sometimes came across as rude. The hotel swimming pool was closed when we arrived and didn’t open whilst there so therefore we had no time around the pool which was really disappointing, not only this but we were not told when we arrived that the pool was not in use and nothing was said during our entire stay. The beach bar was also closed the first night of our break. There was no iron available and the only solution was to have everything sent back to the mainland for their dry cleaning service. On my last day I left a bag of personal items at the reception desk for my friends who were still staying at the hotel which the staff were very happy to do- I have now found out that she did not get her personal belongings back as the reception staff said they did not receive anything!
Overall we were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel and will not be returning and also would not recommend to anybody!

Perfect couples retreat in a stunning location.

This hotel is located in one of the most beautiful places in Croatia. The hotel has fantastic facilities like a modern spa, drop off swimming pool and a private beach. The beach has clean, clear water with a stunning view of a mountain range. The staff are extremely friendly and down to earth. They are happy to always help and cater for your every need. The island is very chilled out which reflects the theme of the hotel. It is the perfect located for couples of all ages looking for a relaxing week away. I could not recommend staying at this hotel enough!!!

This hotel is wonderful. We absolutely loved our stay at the property because the attention to detail was bar none. The room was spacious and had blackout curtains which I appreciate as it makes all the difference to your quality of sleep. It had a lovely sea view. The breakfast was amazing - so many choices and again attention to detail to ensure variety and freshness. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone

Terrible service from Hotels.com and Lafodia

No Staff made the first part of our stay terrible. It was clear the moment we got there that they had significant issues. Rooms not cleaned for 3 days. Breakfast was a war zone, you had to clear your own table and hunt for cutlery to get the meagre servings on offer. Hotel not answering the phone. It did slowly improve during our stay and i would hope it will be back up to speed soon. The hotel management realised they had a problem and at least were honest about it. I think the hotel will recover and this was a one off as the setting and island is great. What was more dissapointing was the truly atrocious service from Hotels.com. Who refused point blank to get involved. So we were left in a situation were the hotel said, you are booked through Hotels.com, we will give you a partial refund, but it must go through Hotels.com and Hotels.com refused to be engaged as the hotel would not answer the phone!!!! Having been a gold member of Hotels.com for a few years, I am used to there appaling service levels. How they get away with it is beyond me. I will write to ABTA but i guess that will be a waste of time as Hotels.com doesnt appear to be regulated.

I liked the location and the hotel is quite nice.

What i didn't like is:

- at arrival they have assigned us a lower grade room then the Intimate Premium room we paid for.
- The room was dirty, bed undone, milk carton open in the room, bathroom with towels and robes previously used on the floor. Next to the bed there was a dead cockroach with a glass on top of it.
- I have complaint and received a room mostly identical in the end with what i paid for after 2 hours wait, however the room was not cleaned daily and if it was cleaned it consisted of making the bed and adding toiletries in bathroom.. not actually cleaning the room or changing towels.

Overall really bad experience considering this trip was made with the idea in mind to ask my girlfriend to marry me.

Overall a lovely stay and I would recommend

The island of Lopud itself is stunning, with plenty of amazing restaurants. The resort is set on pretty grounds and in a great position for swimming etc. Overall, we had a lovely stay and the staff were all very friendly and serviced our needs well, incluing the spa facility. Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID, they were short of cleaners and this meant that we only had our room quickly given the once-ish over a few times. The breakfast buffet wasn't great either, often without full food offerings and not the tastiest of options for the British pallet, although the fruit and yoghurts were nice.
All said, we would go back and we do recommended. The staff did all they could for us during their stay, given the impact of the pandemic. Only other advice is that they could do with a general shop on-site.

Great hotel , island lovely , huge issue was the staff. They are unhelpful, I am still waiting for a dental kit. There was also no iron. The worst part they did not clean our room. We went out for the day hoping we coming back to a nice clean room. They did not visit at ALL. There is NO GYM.

We had a wonderful stay at Lafodia. We are a husband wife and 20 year old son. Everyone was happy. We booked transfer from airport to hotel with the hotel and everything went so smoothly. Hotel manager greeted us on the dock, upgraded our room and showed us around. We felt so welcome and taken care of. The resort is lovely, we had great massages at the spa. The hot tubs and indoor pool were not working or not running and that is the only thing that disappointed us but didn’t keep us from having such a good time

Do NOT Leave money in your safe, PERIOD.

We discovered the maintenance man ALONE in our room mid-day (the same guy who helped us unlock our safe when we first arrived)
later in the day when we opened our wardrobe (where the safe is) the safe WAS OPEN! Having known it was previously locked I checked the content and found that 115 Euros were missing (I had quite a stack in there - he skimmed just enough thinking I would not notice I guess)

Hotel Manager Renato Todesca did nothing.

Very nice looking hotel on beautiful place of Lopud. Beach is very nice while pools are small and dislocated. The hotel has 2 buildings which look like end of cruiser. Breakfast is nice with average variants. No irons in room and service works only until 5pm. Balcony with very nice sea view.

Beautiful hotel, stunning location and fabulous views. Lots of amenities and great concierge, who was very helpful with local info and arranging excursions. Night visit to Dubrovnik was a highlight for me. Hotel staff generally very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well supplied with essentials when I arrived. Unfortunately, this did not continue: three days after arrival, my bed linen had not been changed. When I asked why, reception apologised and advised that policy is to change beds every two days; my bed was changed next day. However, after another two days, when it should have been done again it was not. In the mean time, I was left without soap/shampoo and towels were taken away without replacement; floors weren't cleaned every day either. Also an issue with shower thermostat, but didn't complain as only discovered after unpacking and didn't want to move then. Food at La Baja and Itali restaurants was fine and reasonably priced by local standards (expensive and far less value for money than in Ireland). Serving staff were lovely. La Baja, which is in a great outdoor setting, had nightly entertainment, sometimes very loud (could hear it from another restaurant some distance away and quite clearly from my room on 5th floor with balcony door closed), so if you don't like noise or have young kids, this may not suit you. Overall, Lafodia is a good place to stay in an amazing location, but in-room housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired.
