On approaching the Hotel , we were not impressed, the building next door was derelict. However, Hotel Faros itself was a well maintained building well decorated. The Hotel was clean and the room was slightly smaller than anticipated, but spotlessly clean, with a comfortable shower. The staff were wonderfully helpful and attentive. Breakfast was well laid out with Turkish breakfast fare. The location of the hotel is superb, once you get your bearings, it is literally 3 minutes walk from Taksim square. We would definitely stay again.

I was appalled by this place. After staying at over 10 hotels in the last 2 months I couldn’t believe it. The staff are so rude. I pointed out problems with the room such as holes in the floor, dirty beds and a strong smell - however, the staff were so rude to laugh and not take any responsibility. Not only this but they were talking about us in a rude and impolite manner to each other - not knowing we speak fluent Turkish and can know exactly they are saying. I reccomend everyone avoids this place

My biggest problem You can easily hear the sounds in the next to you other room,
Location very good close 5 min walk taksim.
For family not good because to many Arabia people walk in otell, but for single person fine cheap anyway

Good budget hotel...room was very clean and was equipped with everything you need. Lift goes up only to the 7th floor so if you are given the 8th floor rooms, you will have to lug your luggage up 1 floor. Located 5-7 minutes walk from Point Hotel stop for Havabus and Havaist. So location is great!!

We would like to express many thanks to everyone at Faros hotel, they were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help my mothers wheelchair needs & mobility issues. The were kind enough to arrange our transport. A very friendly and genuine hotel service. The food was also very delicious with a lot of variety and the overall cleanliness was excellent. We would definitely stay again should the need arise.

We stayed 2 nights. The rooms was very clean, Bed was comfortable. The staff at the front desk were helpful. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices. The only problem I had was the noise. There is a club close by that payed loud music until 4:30AM. It was impossible to sleep. The hotel is close to Taksim and will definitively recommend as long as you take ear plugs for the noise.

It was a scam, whatever shows on the website pictures isn’t the hotel! They take you to some small hotel with awful spacing and old furniture! Never felt the urgency of leaving while staying! No refunds if you didn’t like your room. I wouldn’t even spend a dollar there, 1/10 on being there.

The room was really big and very close to the Centre of Istanbul. Room was ok, it was so noisy, the cleaners talking so loud in the morning, you could hear everything from the rooms next to you. One night at 3 am staff were banging on the door in the next room to me for ages and kept ringing the telephone and is was loud, Why? I do not know. I had really poor sleep at this hotel, the breakfast and service was very poor.

I like the staff. Very professional and helpful. They was no problem to get the room at the arrival day although we arrived at 12pm. The day of departure, we had a n early flight from Sabiha airport, so we had to check out at 6.45am. The Receptionist offered to make sandwiches for us as the breakfast opens at 7.30am. That was very appreciated.

My wife and I always stay at the Faros Hotel when staying in Istanbul. Not only is it in walking distance to Taksim Square, it has 2 restaurants in the area where you can have a lovely cuisine (Mediteranean or Kebap) and as a guest at the hotel you will receive a 15% discount. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Always there to help make you feel welcome and attended too. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, showers are powerful. The breakfast is always full of variety also. A great experience for all.

it was a patatic hotel it was totally different it was not a 4 star i chq in and after 15 min i chq out room were is worst shape bad smell was in the room at the back some 1 was cooking and that smell was also coming in the room i request them to change the room 1st thay say we dont have room then they say we have same room with same problems on 7th floor i called hotel.com they also not reply they say we talk to the managment and managment said we already recive payment we can not do any thing its a hopless experience i stay in that room for 15 min if i will not get refund i will never use hotel.com

We had a room for 2 and the room size was a little bit small. I did't like the fact that the toilet had 3 partitions. It wasn't very comfortable.

The hotel's location is great if planning to stay around Taksin square. 3minutes walk yet also provides a calm space to escape the day's noise and crowd. The hotel maintains a new modern feel.

The rooms are a bit smaller than shown in the photos. The bed is huge and the rooms have a lot of natural light.

The staff are very friendly, helpful, and non intrusive. It's very good for short stays and reasonably priced.

Functional hotel with everything you would need

I was in Istanbul for a conference at Boğaziçi University. I chose Taksim when I found no hotels near the university that were affordable, and because Taksim is so central to the city.
The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The room was always cleaned and tidied beautifully. It even had a nice view over the city since I was on the 7th floor.
I would recommend researching your travel options thoroughly before arriving in Istanbul though. While the hotel staff helped me as much as possible, the bus system is a bit of a mess, and very unclear if you do not know Turkish and have never visited the city before. I spent 3 hours trying to find my bus the first day, before giving up and walking 6 miles across the city just to see that there was a metro stop right outside the university, and another one in Taksim square. In general around Istanbul, there is a distinct lack of signs, maps and other little features that are helpful for the visitor. But no problem if you know before you go and do a few minutes' research on the internet.

Pros:
Affordable price for a decent room. While room wasn't large, it was comfortable. The hotel itself is clean and modern.
The service is friendly.

Cons:
There are so many noises from the hallway and outside that it was close to impossible to have a good night's rest. Everything from noisy neighbors to cats meowing and roosters crowing could be heard throughout the night. The wifi was really close to non-existent.

Dirty, Bad location, worst housekeeping!

Booked this hotel last minute, very disappointing, I got given a twin room even though I specifically booked a double. The room had a really bad smell, I asked for someone to do something about this but for a 4 day stay nothing got done.
Had a black long hair in my bathroom and even showed it to the housekeeper but like the smell this stayed right there for the entire stay.
I didn't even try the breakfast as the downstair restaurant looked dark and dirty.
I would never ever stay in this area or hotel again!

Exactly what we were after, very clean, great location only minutes to the metro and popular istiklar street but also quite and no noise when going to sleep. The rooms are on the smaller side but time is not to be spent in the room. We did also have a great view. The staff were the most friendliest and helpful. Would definitely be back.

Want a pleasant, comfortable and welcoming boutique hotel? Choose Faros. Situated just a few minutes walk from the Taksim Square and the popular of Istikal strip you are never far from the action. The staff are ever so helpful and and very familiar with city and its best offerings. We were suggested the Bosphorous Strait boat tour and highly recommend this trip, we had a blast. They also provided us with a free shuttle to the historic Vezniceler Turkish Bath's which were affordable and quite the experience compared to others we'd seen. Would we stay here again? Totally.

Cozy room, contemporary decor, perfect for one or a couple. The front desk staff doesn't speak much English, but we understood each other perfectly in the end. The hotel is on a main--but dicey-looking--street, but it's literally a block away from all of the Taksim Square action, so it's totally fine. Would definitely stay there again!

I stay in istanbul often for work and always stay in Taksim. It was my first trip to Faros and I mostly loved it. Great staff, perfect location and a fun modern feel.
Biggest problem, unfortunately, is the extremely temperamental internet! When it works, it's slow. Often cuts out. I stayed 2.5 weeks so this was extremely frustrating.
I did complain to the excellent staff who have assured me it has been noted and will be changed. But it affected my stay greatly.

This Hotel is well situated near Taksim Square and istiklal street , the staff is very good and helpful , they have provided me some informations and Istanbul map at my check out , don't hesitate to ask questions or help , also the room as small but very Clean , good for Couples and singles .
The morning breakfast is good as well according to the price .
The hotel is also situated not far the Metro station , Taxis and Buses .

We were disappointed after we checked in since the room were too small and the bathroom smiles in the room. When we spoken to the reception, he inform us that there is a bigger version of the room with the same price (the one in expedia).
We received the room the next day, I would say it was little better but bathroom smells still in the room (they must do something about it).

Main problem with the hotel:
1- two type of rooms, avoid getting the small one
2- Bathroom/Shower smells in the room
3- Music is laud from the club near by during weekend and they can’t do anything about it

Good hotel--so-so neighbourhood

This is a good hotel--good staff, good service--but on the edge of a so-so neighbourhood. The location near Taksim Square is good. But the actual site--construction, urine on the carpark opposite--is not so welcoming. The room was comfortable though a little small. The only odd thing was that the bathroom had walls into the bedroom that did not go up all the way and the bathroom door cannot lock. There was a small exhaust fan that must have worked as I did not smell anything bad in the room itself. If you are looking for this location and somewhat of a budget traveller, consider this.

Good location (though on a side street which can be a bit difficult to find at first), modern feel to hotel and rooms. Had a bit of trouble with email communications with hotel prior to arrival. Rooms are laid out in a bit of a non-typical fashion and can feel a bit cramped. Great breakfast downstairs.
