Loved the location. Staff helpful. Food good. Beautiful property. Only thing wasn't impressed with was size of room. Smallest room we have ever been in. We are small people so it worked but wouldn't for larger persons. They may of had larger rooms.

Our stay at Grand Royale was not very comfortable unfortunately. The room was very small and there was no chair in the room. The steps down into the bedroom were very inconvenient. My daughter is special needs and it was quite difficult for her to move around. The bathroom was also very small.

First of all, it’s a very beautiful older property, with a very unique ambience to it. The staff is absolutely wonderful, the in-house breakfast was great, the staff in the restaurant were excellent, absolutely stellar. The hotel lives up to everything they advertise. This is going to be my go-to hotel whenever I’m in London. I was very, very impressed. It’s also in a very good location, almost literally right across the street from Hyde Park and one block away from a neighborhood of stores of all kinds of varieties, and a variety of restaurants. Everything is within walking distance. You’re even close to the Albert Hall. This was an excellent find.

Great location. General staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was more than sufficient with traditional British breakfast selections, and more. Wait staff was quite welcoming/attentive each morning we arrived in the dining room. Our room was quite warm, but front desk was quick to lend us a fan which did just the trick. Overall, we had a great stay here!

Was the excellent breakfast, but like most businesses now a days cut backs have to be made definitely a different sausage! Just not what is was! But staff still very helpful!
Ideal location 2. Min to the tube station and HYDE park at the end of the road

My main gripe is the bathroom. How could any tourist accommodation get approval for a shower that was, at most, 2 feet by 2 feet and a sink that must have been borrowed from Barbie’s Playhouse? You could neither wash your hands, let alone brush your teeth without pools of water on the floor and wet walls. The bathroom is so tiny that you have to sit on the toilet sideways because it is blocked by the wee sink, and I am petite? Not value for money! The place may have been grand in a bygone era, but today is a new day and the conditions are unacceptable!

The area around the property was questionable. There was mold on the bathroom shower tiles. The air conditioner made so much noise that we had to shut it off at night. The space between the end of the bed and desk let little room to walk by. The lobby area was very attractive but the rest of the hotel is very tired. The headboard was extremely worn.

The room looked nothing like the ones shown on the website. The air conditioning switch was broken and the only option was the fan that blew warm air in. The temperature in the room was at least 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the property as it had no windows that could be opened. The windows ran from roof to the floor and acted as a greenhouse. The blind, presumably installed to reduce this affect, was broken. Staff didn't ask how our stay had been when we left. We will not be returning.

We booked a club room, so paid extra for it. We were very disappointed as we were in the basement, the carpets suddenly changed to what can only be described as resembling a travelodge. The room was
much smaller than average and the shower was tiny. The room was dark due to it being on a lower level than the street. We only had one glass for the room, we had to make a request for the bathrobes as they had been forgotten. The positive was the decor of the reception and breakfast room.

A prime spot about 3 mins from Bayswater tube station. I wouldn't recommend as it was way too expensive for the standard of the room. We didn't complain as the hotel was full and felt it would have been futile.

Our room was in the basement and although there was a window the room was very dark and the lighting poor. Bathroom was so small, knees almost touched the wall when using the toilet.
Breakfast room was very hot snd overcrowded and we were sat almost in the doorway whilst people were queuing along our table. Orange juice was dreadful, food ok, service slow

Breakfast was amazing, service was better than five stars, staff was extremely professional courteous and efficient and the building was a piece of London's glorious heritage structures. The hotel is in an excellent location relative to two Tube stops, groceries, attractions, etc. I had a double room. It was small. Bathroom is very, very small. Sink blocks half of entry to shower. My arms hit the sides of shower if I slightly raised my elbows. It was impossible to bend over in the bathroom to dry my legs without opening the door. Bolt on main door did not work. Be aware there are several steps up into hotel and no one at entrance to assist. Gorgeous flowers in lobby, but I could smell the stargazer lilies from the street with the door closed (overpowering and be aware if you are sensitive). With one exception, staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and in generally good condition. This is based on the standard double I selected. For the cost, I would probably choose elsewhere next time.

Rooms are very small, enough to fit a bed. TV does not have international news stations, so it is very limited, although there are 200+ uninteresting stations. Bathrooms are modern and clean. There was a lot of construction in the back of the hotel and uncollected trash from nearby hotels in the front, which was not the greatest experience. Nevertheless, its location is excellent, and the staff is very accommodating.

Do not be fooled by the pictures of some old regal areas of the hotel. Apart from the grand entrance , bar area and sitting room, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The rooms are so small and with very little to look out on, ie rubbish bins. All club rooms are on the first floor with no lift. The biggest bed they have is a queen bed. We requested two queen beds before we arrived, we weren’t told they didn’t have any rooms of this kind to accommodate us. The bathroom was far too small, getting in and out of the bath for a shower was difficult.
Breakfast was absolutely chaotic, full fat milk only, waited 25 minutes for hot water, food ran out regularly and took an age to replace. Queuing for breakfast was very long, with not enough space to queue, we actually felt sorry for staff at breakfast, they were running around but can’t coupe with the shear numbers . The bar did not stock gin and the draught beer was off. This is certainly not a 4* hotel, at best is 3*.

Brilliant location close to tube central line (just around the corner) and also only 5 min walk to another tube station circle/district line and close to buses to Victoria and Marble Arch. Shops and some resturants round the corner. Beautiful lounge and dining areas. Deluxe double was very small room but very clean. Reception staffs not particulsrly helpful and gave us the wrong room no and key cards to an already occupied room, honest mistake but for two females posed a safety risk which reception staffs didn't seem concerned about.

Our first room the windows didn’t open and there was mould at the top of the windows. The bathroom was also so small the door could only half open. Moved room and the next room was fine. Positives = the staff were very nice and the breakfast selection is good, location is also a big plus. Negatives, hotel is grand but clearly in need of investment to update it. Breakfast queue took 20 minutes just to have a table. They use cheap watered down juice at breakfast. Lots of rooms have stairs up or down to your main sleeping area.

Although this was another excellent example of where a former grand home has been turned into a hotel, it works and I liked the location close to the Queensway and Bayswater underground stations with connections via the Central, Circle, and District lines throughout London.

The hotel room felt old and in need of a nice rennovation and upgrade. It was disappointingly small and cramped. My wife and I were ill for much of the time we were there but the staff were nice and the decor historic.

Situated well. Staff ok. Room stinked really badly from the drain in the shower. I was exhausted so I shut the door, opened the window and slept. Workmen woke me up from outside, minimal sleep. Went to breakfast, good choice but had to wait in long Q 10 minutes. Tell chef boiled eggs should be put in non metal serving container then the yolks wont look green/grey. I had the single delux room, really it should be cleaning cupboard. When returning from breakfast, a man holding a toolbox came out of my room without permission from me to be there hadn't said anything so they already knew there was a problem. Very poor show. I want my money back.

Tiny room on the 8th floor up stairs which is fine however the door did not lock from the inside, the bathroom floor was loose ceramic tiles which were sharp on feet. Plughole of shower bath rusty, room generally very run down. Bathroom floor is dangerous. On check in the lady at reception was borderline aggressive. Not good at all.

The hotel is very beautiful however upholstery on some furniture can use upgrading. The staff is super nice and helpful with any of your needs. Only drawback is the size of the room. I literally could not open my suitcase that was on floor due to very cramped quarters. You also can’t close door to bathroom once you’re sitting on the toilet lol. The entrance to the tube is right around corner and there is a few dining options close by.Overall it was a good experience during our time in London.

While a beautiful hotel, the experience fell short. The standard room appears to be an old maids closet. For two people with luggages, we didn’t even have space to open more than one suit case at a time; the washroom shower has the tiniest glass partition that was supposed to prevent water from getting out but instead the entire bathroom floods each time you shower; towels were toddler size and when asked for extras, only one was given; toilet paper felt like sandpaper, and to finish it off breakfast was incredibly underwhelming. While the property is beautiful, the experience wasn’t. It’ll do for one night but it certainly isn’t a comfortable stay.

Stayed here for 2nts. Room was very very small. Could hardly move in it.Shower was in bath, which then flooded floor as only a very small glass panel.
Also had a job to get in as I am a pensioner. Had to queue to go in for breakfast. Not as good as the Premier inn.

Very welcoming reception and excellent service. They upgraded me from a single to a double. The room was very clean and easily passed a dust test. Although small this was expected from other reviews would suggest removing the chair from the table as this is completely unusable as it doesn't pull back to the bed far enough to sit in. Air conditioning worked quickly to cool the room. Tea and coffee facilities with biscuits and water provided.
As other reviews mention the bed was the only let down as was as firm as a plank. Fixed this by using a double quilt folded in two.
Breakfast is buffet type and was excellent with both a hot and continental selection. There was a short wait for a table but nothing dramatic and sometimes you get it just right other times you go down with everyone else.
Over all a great stay at an excellent price. Hyde park was literally out the hotel turn right past one building cross the road into the park. Queensway tube is the closest out hotel turn right past one building turn right walk about four buildings cross road into tube station.

We stayed for two nights. Good location, and staff aimed to please. The decor is old English, but not dusty as was reported in previous reviews. Breakfast was average, but did not have enough staff to keep up with the breakfast demands. The only complaint worth mentioning was the mattress on or bed, worn out and not comfortable.You could hear the springs squeak. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay here, but would not rate this a 4 star hotel.

Overall: A bit rundown, but the staff were professional and pleasant. It earns a cautious recommendation — if the price you’re getting is low/fair.

The room:
The “deluxe” single room is essentially a small dorm room. It has its own bathroom, but both are shopworn. The twin bed was jiggly with a lumpy duvet — no amount of redistribution helped. That said: kettle, tea set, a safe in the closet.

Supplies: 1 sleeve decaf, 1 regular coffee, 2 teabags. Sugar yes, creamer no.And a little pack of nice shortbread cookies!

The bathroom was clean and efficient, but plumbing fixtures were mildly stained and missing trim pieces. You get exactly 2 towels: one hand, one bath.

The bedroom carpet was tattered, and the TV remote was encrusted in something scary.

Common areas:
The hotel has a sweet little bar and a somewhat creepy — but genuinely inviting — sitting room. It really elevated the experience. Having a pleasant, lively place to settle in anesthetized the disappointment of the rundown room.

Stunning Property I wasn’t prepared for how extra special it was in every sense. The breakfast was truly amazing sometimes hotels have powdered eggs that they cook for you. This was real eggs, but what I love the most about the hotel was the historic beauty.

Friendly, helpful staff, let down by a tired building in need of an upgrade.
For our 3-night, joint birthday trip, we booked a Club Room and were originally placed on the Lower Ground floor. It was really small, with very little daylight.
A helpful member of staff on reception managed to find us an alternative (Room 708) on the top floor, which was slightly larger, but with a tiny bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom were tired and in need of a refurbishment. Eg the bed head was frayed, the holder for the shower head did not work properly and the digital lock on the safe failed, needing a maintenance guy to come and open it with a key.
On our last evening we returned to the hotel at 10pm and decided on a drink in the bar. There was no white or red wine stocked and the bar tender was of little help. Not her fault, but a result of poor management and training.
We booked the hotel because of its location - which is very good for Hyde Park and the Underground - and its history. It was billed as a 4* - we have stayed in plenty of 3*, 4* and 5* hotels, but the Grand Royal Hyde Park is nowhere near a 4*, I’m afraid.
Owners: invest in your hotel!

It was a small but clean room, and there was a full bathtub. (a rare thing in London.) One thing people should know is if they put you on the side of the hotel away from the street that there is construction going on and you will be awakened early to the noise.
Otherwise pretty comfortable though I did find the pillows kind of hard but hey some people like hard pillows.
Good food and coffee options near by and I like that it is near two tube stops.

Great location close to Bayswater and Queensway Tubes. Many great restaurants around. Excellent breakfast with smoked salmon, great toast and cheese, OK coffee. Iam a 3 time return guest to this location due to breakfast and various offerings for breakfast. My friend enjoyed fruit but I loved Salmon, English Cheddar, and mushrooms. In the bedroom neither of the anglepoise lights over the bed worked, there were leaks in the bathroom behind the sink taps and the shower screen was not big enough so the shower drowned the floor. We asked for softer pillows but they brought the same kind not feather (as stated the guide) . Breakfast was good but they ran out of large and smaller plates, butter and glasses, we had to queue to get in the restaurant at 9.00 . The hot food was good. Check in was very slow.

The staff were very helpful, the room however was soon cold. The electric heater we had was not working, the staff however supplied another heater that worked. We also requested an extra blanket because the room was so cold.
For a hotel of 4 stars in this location I would have expected the heating to have been working.
The lobby and front desk looks amazing, however the room we was in, looked like it needed a little tlc.
We paid for breakfast in the morning, this had loads of options, from cooked food to cereal, fruit and pastries, we went for breakfast early and it was a good job too. Around 9-10:30am the area for breakfast was so packed the line to go in, crowded the hallway where people's room are and where staff enter and exit taking coffee orders. Also where the lift is making this section really packed to get passed.
I stayed for one night with my partner, it was nice but there is room for improvement. Rooms could do with things being fixed, and we had a room at the back with large glass windows where draft came in. The heating for each room needs looking at also, we was not the only people who had this issue. Overall staff were polite and attended to our needs when we asked.

Beautiful building and decor room was tiny and strange in design as you had to walk up stairs directly from the door to the bedroom could be dangerous in the dark. Bath tap and shower controls needed replacing constant dripping no shower screen so floor got soaked when showering. Went for a drink in the bar no lemonade so had to go to the shop and get a can for a mixer then charged £8.00 for a gin with no mixer.
Bar also didn’t have ice not good enough for anywhere let alone a supposed 4 star hotel.
Breakfast was ok but no Cappuccino or latte etc just black coffee you can get a cappuccino in a travelodge so again not good enough all a shame really as the hotel could be a real gem

Lovely public spaces. Great staff. Very good breakfast. Prime location but the rooms were not as advertised. Very small (it looked palatial on the photos), and the décor was a bit tired. No dressing gowns or soft drinks as outlined in the info either. We enjoyed the stay but this is not a four star hotel.

The room was very small. When opening the curtains we could clearly see it was covered in bird droppings, which was unpleasant. There was also a draft coming through the windows, making the room uncomfortable.

On our last day we were sick and asked for a late check-out. The staff initially refused and only later allowed a few extra hours, which felt lacking in understanding.

This hotel is in a great location (near two tube stations, restaurants, and grocery stores). The staff are friendly, helpful, and eager to resolve any issues. The hotel was clean, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and the public areas are beautiful.

The Grand Royale Hyde Park is amazing! The staff is very friendly and treat you like family. The complimentary fruit, chocolates, and bottle of wine were a very nice touch. The room was great and very clean. I highly recommend staying here, the location is great.

The room was very inconvenient for someone with limited mobility, like myself. The bathroom was located five steps below the main level of the room. The door to the room could not be opened if the bathroom door was already open, and vice versa. I did not purchase the breakfast, so can't comment on that. seating at the desk was far from adequate. On the plus side, the staff were very pleasant and accomodating, and the hotel' s location is very convenient to transport and restaurants.

The breakfast staff were amazing! Very attentive and efficient. The hotel was clean. Sometimes had to call down for missed towels. Bring your own facecloth as none are provided. This is our second visit and we look forward to returning! Both visits were more than a week each.

Travel sites say 24 hour hotel service to the airport, at check-in they scheduled us a cab for €80. The elevator to the 6th floor wasn’t working, luckily we didn’t get trapped. The showers have no curtains, which cause the bathroom to get soaked. I would have stayed elsewhere if I had known.
