It was so wonderful to stay in an area that wasn’t overcrowded like it was in Amalfi. it was very peaceful. Luigi, Salvatore and the entire staff was so friendly and welcoming. The food was really great! much better than the food we had in Praiano. The breakfast buffet each day was very good with lots of options.

The rooms are charming and clean. the view cannot be beat! The pool overlooking the sea is the absolute best!! They also have lounge chairs on each level which was very nice.

The Furore beach is a very quick walk from the hotel. The only downside is that it’s hard to get to places from here but next time we will rent vespas/motorbikes because the buses were not good at all. The drivers are not helpful and very rude. The buses are very full and they will just pass you up.

The staff was very helpful in giving contacts for car service to get in and out of Pompeii and Naples. We loved the contact they gave is and we used her (Katrina) twice. Very good driver!.

We highly recommend this hotel! it’s beautiful and welcoming and very relaxing! We would definitely stay here again.

This was the absolute best stay. Luigi and all the staff were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and enjoyed our stay. Me and my sister accidentally took the wrong bus, because the public transport isn’t the easiest to navigate, and Luigi was able to connect us with a driver back to the hotel. Knowing he cared so much about keeping me and my sister safe gave us such peace of mind which I am forever grateful for. This stay was so special for me and my sister, we would both happily come back to visit.

Wonderful getaway

Wonderful facility, off the beaten path. Halfway between Amalfi and Positano so not as congested. On the ocean. Wonderful owners and mangers. They make you feel like family upon walking in. Not an ideal facility if you are mobility challenged as their are stairs (steep) to all rooms.

Buses to Amalfi and Positano are convenient- albeit very crowded.

Cliff side hangout!

This is such a nice place to stay. It’s a down to earth hotel that feels like a guest house. The hosts are so friendly (the most friendly on our whole trip) and helpful.
You may feel like your in the middle of nowhere (paradise), but buses go in both directions ( right out front) taxis can be called, and you can walk to Praiano (20 min) or Fiordo di furore (highly recommend 5 minutes.
Our stay here was all about the outside views, wine and swimming in the ocean.

Breath-taking view from a room on a cliff!

Rooms are stacked up on a cliff so some climbing is required (but hotel staff will help with the luggage). It also offers a pool, and direct access to the ocean if you're brave enough to swim in it. The view is just unbelievable, directly from our room! Hotel restaurant also offers decent food. Would like to come back!

This was my second stay in 18 months. Love this place. Both times I had smaller rooms, Jennifer and Claudia, which were totally charming. My friend was in Ingrid, which was a knockout with its view above the cove. Food is so good, you could dine there most days and not miss much. I love that it's slightly remote, lushly landscaped, and full of secret nooks. You can still catch the bus to Amalfi and Positano easily. I'm a travel writer and Locanda is one of my favorite hideouts in the the world. I'm a swimmer, so I love the cove—you can even swim to the fjord in around 10-15 minutes. Staff is lovely and warm.

The location is solitary, but close to SITA bus stop, so getting around is easy. We choose not to drive, you will see why. Hotel is at road level, and goes down to the sea, which makes for easier access than the locations up from the road. Very satisfying breakfast with nice variety of foods. Service was excellent, staff was very friendly and helpful

From the minute we stepped in, the folks at Locanda Del Fiordo made us feel so welcome! Our view was stupendous, the room was comfortable, and the food was delicious. So glad we stayed here out of the hustle and bustle of the more touristy cities!

The hotel view is to die for. You will immediately fall in love with the location. It is at quiet area between Positano and Amalfi, but it has its own restaurant and Luigi help us with renting vespa. This really make us easy to get around. Breakfast was great, big spread and they even offer to make us omelletes. You can go down the hotel and swim from the platform straight into the sea. Very friendly staff and overall we are happy with our stay

Excellent location. Although is a little dated luckily location makes up for it. Breakfast is limited but again can’t beat the view with coffee and a croissant!
Make sure have lots of cash with you. If not taking a bus, taxis cost a fortune and they will charge you extra when checking out for tax if you pay by card!! Great visit and glad seen the Amalfi coast now.

This place is beautiful - the hotel is literally built inside the cliff. What made our stay so pleasant was the warm and friendly atmosphere created by staff! Luigi, the owner turned this beautiful villa to hotel/restaurant. He is very accommodating to make sure you have a great time. The breakfast was so delicious. All the ingredients were fresh from his garden above the hotel. The view from our room was stunning, as well as the view on the walk down the cliff to the sea. I highly recommend this place and will return.

Great swimming, but the property is a bit rough

Excellent swimming. This is the reason to stay here. We never went to the beaches on the coast. Also, the location near Praiano,and roughly equidistant between Positano and Amalfi, made exploring these towns very managable. The local bus stops at the hotel.

However, the place needs a good clean. Some fixtures and furniture should be replaced, as they were rusty, heavily worn or broken from years of seaside climate and guest use. Our room had mosquitos smashed all over the walls from past guests. The shower was a little moldy. The grounds of the hotel were in so-so condition. There was sometimes unpleasant odours from the pipes wafting through public areas.

The food is fine. Not amazing, not bad. Simple and homestyle.

Overall, a great location and prime swimming, but be prepared that the property isn’t spotless.

Friendly, helpful staff and a comfortable family-run experience. Good restaurant. We liked the location away from town. Loved the view of the sea from our room and while enjoying breakfast. We enjoyed being able to walk down the steps to the sea and jump in the clear water.

You will be treated accordingly too how much money you spend at the hotels restaurant. The staff were friendly but due to location you are limited to public transport which is a challenge to get around.

The staff at this hotel was so nice and helpful! a delicious breakfast every morning and they were there to help with any question we had. Luigi tried his best to find us a boat tour of Capri at the last minute but they were all booked. However, they then helped us rent a boat of our own for the day and we were able to tour not only Capri, but also the rest of the Amalfi Coast at our own pace. The Luigi gave us a ride to the boat rental. I think we made out better! I will say that our room for three was a little bit tight but we only used it for showering and sleeping so not a problem. I think they were redoing a part of the hotel so maybe the rooms were more limited. The bus does really stop at the front door and the hotel staff will help you figure out how to manage your bus trips. Luigi II (there is two of them) even said he would come pick us up if we had a problem. Be prepared... A bus trip along the Amalfi Coast is like no other. My stomach was up in my throat a few times. And be prepared for steps. Coming from a relatively flat state, the amount of steps on the coast was new to us and had us breathing heavy a few times. But if you follow the steps down at this hotel, you will find yourself on a lovely platform that is carved into the rocks where you can sunbathe or jump off and swim. A definite gem!

It was an amazing visit to Amalfi Coast but better for just a few nights. It was some what isolated from the towns on the coast and to eat dinner anywhere else you had to take a local bus or drive the insane coastal road on your own. Walking along road was strongly discouraged. Taxi might be another option.

Best vacation ever!

Oh where do I start? The hotel restaurant has the BEST meals we've had in Italy. We didn't even think twice to have dinner there every night. Breakfast was great too and has ample selection.

This hotel is probably one of the most unique hotel we've ever stayed at. It's literally built onto the rock. The hotel is located right in the middle between Amalfi town and Positano. Nothing is around, so nothing blocks your view while chilling out on the balcony. THE VIEW, my goodness, was beyond realistic. There's also a walk way all the way down to the water.

The room we were staying at was recently renovated, so everything was clean and new. Everything worked well. Since there's so many flowers and plants, so dont expect the ground to be sparkly clean.

Free parking on site, valet-style. If you drive there (we drove from Rome--fun 3.5hr drive), be sure you're EXTREMELY EXPERIENCED driver and SUPER COVER insurance--anywhere in Italy, really.. You'll thank yourself later. I'm talking about hilly sharp turns, small single lanes roads, huge buses that wont care. I think there's a bus stop right in front that takes you along the coast.

ALSO, there is no elevator and each room sits on the face of the rock, so if you cant walk up and down steps, this hotel is not for you. Carrying big luggage is a terrible idea. We stored ours in the car and just brought what we needed in a small bag. Same goes for Venice.

This is an awesome setting. The hotel is built into the cliff and each room has its own terrace area for sitting and watching the sun, sea and boats go by. There are steps down to the sea from which, if you fancy, you can have a swim though in late September I admit we passed on this option! The owner and his staff are friendly, accommodating and happy to help.
In terms of food, the hotel has an extremely popular restaurant and is frequented by loads of Italians so it is good! There is even parking which on the busy main road is an achievement. The hotel has a guy who will park your car in the tightest of spots: watching him at his work is entertainment in itself.
We found a few lovely places close by to wander to: there is a small port about 2 k away where there is a great restaurant/ bar called La Pirata.

The Best Hotel in the Amalfi Coast

Paradise on the sea.

Roberto, owner greets you, parks your car, carries your luggage, check you in then seats you for a meals and complimentary refreshment. The view of the sea are spectacular, the evening air blows through your windows. It is like sleeping on a yacht. The hotel is built into the side of a bluff with a rooftop restaurant that serves amazing, fresh food. The clams were sweet, succulent and extremely fresh. The house wine is smooth, slightly fruity with a mild flavor. Breakfast is included with the hotel fee. Best breakfast I had in Italy.

This hotel was great. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Each room has a terrace that looks out over the Mediterranean and Amalfi Coast. The view is amazing! You get a great view of Praiano and the Amalfi Coast. The location was perfect. It's away from the crowded towns but only a few minute drive or bus ride to Amalfi or Praiano. The hotel has a restaurant on the top floor and the food is amazing. The staff were all super nice and helpful. They were there anytime we needed anything and helped us with parking. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast. You seriously can't beat the views!

Picturesque setting, gorgeous layout

The stay started off amazing. The owner and staff are super friendly. They offered us a welcome drink right away (prosecco for the wife, Peroni for myself). The view from the entry and restaurant deck was unparalleled, deep blue Mediterranean water, houses and hotels built onto the cliff sides, etc. Dinner that night at the hotel restaurant was delicious. The raw seafood salad was tasty, and my pasta was perfect al dente. Breakfast was inlcuded, and the staff will make you any type of espresso coffee or omelette you want (don't forget to ask for an omelette)! You start your day off sipping coffee on the deck looking out over the gorgeous view. There are several decks just steps down from the rooms, right down into the Sea itself if you fancy a swim! Water is deep blue and warm. Location is perfect, right in between Positano and the town of Amalfi, so it was a short drive in our little rental Opel to the best spots on the southern Amalfi coast.

The only downside of this hotel was that the room was a bit outdated and the bed was not comfortable (that's the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5). We also booked the very last room available at the very last minute, so we probably got the smallest and oldest room. The other rooms could be much better, no idea. With a bit of money to renovate the rooms and upgrade the beds and linens, this place would easily be the best in Amalfi!! That being said, we would definitely go back, no question.

Perfect romantic getaway for active vacationers

We spent 3 nights here, eating dinner here twice. Excellent service and the location of the hotel on the cliff face is amazing. We had a \"superior\" room, three levels down and cut into the rock. We had a little patio just outside (shared with another room) and there are multiple additional patios down the cliff.

The hotel isn't particularly close to any of the towns but that was perfect for us. It's a .6 km walk to Marina di Praia and about the same the other direction to Marina di Furore if you want to beach or start hiking the Way of the Gods.

The hotel has a nice terrace at the water level for swimming, cliff jumping, and sunning. Perfect little getaway.

Paradiso on the Amalfi Coast!

This beautiful hotel with its magnificent views hangs from the cliff over the Mediterranean sea. Its rooms are carved into the walls, which have been left partially exposed. Louigi, his family and the rest of the crew are most welcoming and accommodating. They are as wonderful as the scenery. Take any recommendation they give you, especially anything related to food.

At breakfast, watch fresh fish and produce being delivered. Tour the restaurant's garden that sits on the cliff across the road. Sun on the deck near the sea. Relax in the jacuzzi, which we learned had to be delivered by helicopter. Enjoy the local wines at dinner.

Two things to consider: La Locanda Del Fiordo is not in a town, so visiting the rest of the coast requires driving or taking a bus from the stop right outside the restaurant. We recommend the latter, as it allows you to experience the area's bus drivers for whom the death-defying route's near misses are measured in inches. Second, because the hotel is on a cliff, there are multiple levels to navigate. The nearest rooms are three levels down, the water more than a dozen sets of stairs from the top. This is not a hotel for those who are unable or unwilling to make these climbs.

Once at La Locanda Del Fiordo, you won't want to leave!

Hotel is situated on a cliff and the view from our room was amazing! There are a lot of steps, to and from the room and ocean but all worth it. The waves were very choppy so we did not get into the water but we did sunbathe and got in the hot tub in our room. The rooms are clean and the staff is very attentive. The hotel has a restaurant at which we ate dinner all of the 3 nights we were there. The food is great! We didn't feel the need to go elsewhere, their seafood is fresh, delicious and fairly priced. They also provide parking, which is very difficult to find in that location. We left our car parked there the entire trip and used the bus that runs all through the Amalfi coast for about 3 euro on-way to go to the main town. We loved it there and will definitely return next year.
The only reason I did not rate a 5 on room comfort was because the water pipes or something to do with the plumbing was very noisy during the night. It is probably because of the location and something to do with the water pressure but it did not last long, woke us up but we were able to go back to bed. Like I said, no big deal. My family and I will come back.

Stayed in this hotel for a week . In the middle of nowhere . It is all right if you have a car . Bathroom to small and every time we used the shower there was a lot if water leaking which ended up on the floor and we did not get the balcony like most of the guests got . Some of the staff very rude . They were not helpful at all . There was not a lot for breakfast . We had to ask for eggs and toast . No cereal.

Gorgeous location

Absolutely a gorgeous location, on the sea cliff with breathtaking views. The owners and the waiters are extremely kind and helpful; we arrived late at night, nevertheless they prepared a deliciuos dinner for us. Yap, Italia food is superb here! The only problem is with the rooms, a few of them don't have a proper window, however they all have a sea view balcony. We wish to be thare again, in winter, when stormy waves shake the cliff.

We wish we could have stayed more than one day. Hotel is located on a cliff and views are breathtaking from the balcony. Some rooms don't have an ocean view but all rooms have a balcony. Breakfast was OK, but the owners are extremely kind and helpful and treat their guests like family. City bus has a stop right in front of the hotel, which makes it convenient to park your car at the hotel and take the bus to the other towns....Amalfi, Positano etc. Rooms could use renovation. We would definitely stay again, for the absolutely gorgeous location.

Definitely NOT 4-Star - Really a B and B

We were offered a room with no window. After complaining that we couldn't sleep in this hot box without air-conditioning (not working) we were offered a better room. But no way is this a 4 star hotel. It is just about a B and B. The breakfast consisted of coffee (I had to ask specially for tea) and sweet biscuits and cakes. There were some sweet cereals but no eggs, bacon or anything else - just very sweet, cheap, 'cakes' and fruity biscuits. There was a basket of hard rolls presumably from the night before. In order to sunbathe you will have to walk down a very long flight of steps to a piece of concrete with a row of sunbeds laid out (and of course there is then the seemingly even longer trek back up again!). Unfortunately it seems to be an Italian past-time to lay on these from morning till night and talk VERY LOUDLY on the phone - one call after another.... after the seventh call on the trot I gave up and we went out. Going out is another hazardous experience. We hired a car and worried the whole time about being driven into. The roads are narrow and wind around the coast. The Italians drive like maniacs - the bus drivers are some of the worst. Be warned - hire a very thin car! And one more thing ... in typical Italian style the owner rips you off at the end by charging one day extra tax - the day you leave! - with a big smile on his face.

Lovely hotel, great staff, good restaurant.

We stayed 5 nights at Locanda del Fiordo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, the sun decks were great. There was a very nice place to swim with a beautiful inlet/mini-fjord. The staff were helpful at arranging for us to get a scooter for a few days, since it is a 15 minute walk to Praiano (or further to Amalfi). There are other restaurants within walking distance, but the roads can be dangerous to walk on at night, although the drivers seem very cautious. The buses come by often during the day to go to Positano or Amalfi (and beyond). My only criticism of the room was the bathroom was cramped with the bidet, I would have rather had the extra space. In general a great place to stay, especially if you have a car or rent a scooter.

superb location

we stayed 3 days only at the locanda del fiordo but we plan to go more
Every room has beautiful scenery and the private beach at the bottom was outstanding
One should mention also the warm hospitality of sinyor Luigi and his family as well as the staff
Being between positano and amalfi-ravello one could travel easily which is important as the winding roads cause dizziness after 10 kms.
The breakfast was satisfactory and we had a lunch and a dinner also at the locanda -- again very good
(never ate anything bad in italy)
lets not forget the handy car park of the hotel and the internet connection everywhere-even at the beach downstairs

Awesome

Terrific hotel with great views. Nice local flavor with friendly staff. 10 min from Positano. Great dinner and great breakfast at hotel. Sun terraces and warm Outside hot tubs. Will go back for another stay.

Wonderful Place with amazing views!!

We were very pleased with this hotel. When booking online sight unseen you never know what to expect. You know that the pictures posted are showing the best side of the property. The pictures of this hotel don't do it justice!! I chose this hotel because it was about halfway down the Amalfi Coast and figured we could drive half one day and half the next. My Son is in the US Navy stationed in Naples so is used to driving over there and was able to drive us along the Amalfi Coast. We had a quad room and had plenty of room. We had a sliding door that opened up to the ocean below crashing onto the rocks. What a great sound to put us to sleep! The view was amazing! Breakfast the next morning was delicious on a patio with the most amazing views! The staff was helpful and spoke enough english that we all were able to understand each other. As American's you have to remember that European hotels are not as large and spacious as US hotels. Once you accept that you'll realize you're trip will be much more enjoyable! Remember, you're only in your room to sleep, you're in Europe, go see the sights!!

la locanda del fiordo

This hotel is clean and well looked after, the solarium decks are excellent, with a jacuzzi on one area. What really makes it outstanding though is the location, absolutely beautiful, and i would recomend the hotel on the strength of this alone.
