The The room was very nice and the area around the hotel exceptional. The staff was helpful and the ability to park on site for a fee was very welcome. The restaurant breakfast was adequate but nothing great. The dinner options were good but very eclectic. The pricing was a little high and I don't know if the menu would meet everyone's expectations.

Everything seemed to be an inconvenience.

Chef walks around like he's a Master Chef with No one in the restaurant.

La propiedad esta ubicada en la Marina y tuvimos que bajar con maletas, lo cual es muy pesado, cuando llegamos hacer el check in, no nos ofrecieron ni un vaso con agua a pesar del calor y de la condición en la que llegamos, no son amables al recibirte. Para salir, misma situación, no hay quien te ayude con las maletas y la subida es muy muy pesada porque es todo de subida. El desayuno no me gusto, huele a pescado muerto la zona donde lo ponen y se ve no apetecible, sin embargo para calmar el hambre esta bien. Lo que si me encanto, fue la ubicación, tienes la marina donde te puedes refrescar, esta cerca del club de playa il pirata y del fiordo, puedes tomar taxis y tours y vale totalmente la pena, es facil transportarse a Positano o Amalfi. Las habitaciones son hermosas y descansas muy agusto despues de un dia lleno de diversión y de playa. Me encanto que nos hayan guardado el equipaje después de hacer el check out.

Read the bad reviews of this place. Everything is true. HORRIBLE and RUDE staff, literally some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. Don’t be fooled by the location. The accommodations suck, the people who work there are miserable, everything is extremely overpriced and they will nickel and dime you every chance they get. Avoid at all costs. You’ve been warned.

We enjoyed our stay at Alfonso a Mare mainly due to the location.

We wanted to experience the Almalfi Coast but wanted to avoid the crowded area of Positano. A friend suggested Praiano and after looking into accomodation options, we decided on this hotel due to the location. The hotel is located in the small cove beach of Praiano. The majority of accomodation in Praiano is located up high on the cliff, meaning any time you wish to go to the beach, it’s a mission. We knew we would spend majority of time at the beach and we also had a boat tour booked on one of the days that was departing from that beach which is ultimately why we booked this hotel. The area also has a few restaurants. We absolutely loved the restaurant il Pirata being within walking distance as we went there twice.
Our room had amazing views of the ocean from our balcony and the beach area and the room itself was spacious and clean. We could lock our individual room, however we found it odd that anyone from the beach area could walk upstairs all the way up to our door if they wished.
We didn’t find the staff very friendly or helpful, with the exception of one staff member.
If you wish to use the beach, you can use the public access area, however the rest of the beach is taken up by the hotels lounges (which hotel guests have to pay for).

Overall we really enjoyed the area so would recommend the hotel (only with the sea view rooms).

Loved this cute little beach side hotel. Room was recently updated and very clean. Bathroom looked brand new. The mattress was very comfortable compared to others we had been on in our trip. AC worked wonderful and then included breakfast was delicious especially the pastries. Perfect for our last night in Italy. Would highly recommend.

This property is right on the beach and has easy access to a small port to take water taxis and boat excursions around the Amalfi area. There are a couple of good restaurants very close and a couple more within a short walk. The complimentary breakfast was a very nice spread with many options. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The location of property is amazing, easy parking options but it is not free. Hot options in breakfast options limited, good bakery selection in breakfast. Rooms are good and have a great view. It has amazing restaurants near by.
No option of coffee or tea in the room you have to order from the restaurant.

The stay couldn't be better, it was an amazing team, during the whole experience, many kindly staffs so receptive and friendly.

We got our check-in facilitated, as they did it earlier, breakfast it was very good! Also we've did our check-out one day before, as we left early in the morning and the receptionist offered to us a breakfast for take away on the previous day, as the breakfast time it would be open just after we leave.

The view of the room it was super! Very clean.

Just the connection and the prices around the region are the drawback, but the view worth every penny!

We loved our stay here so much that we extended it by a day! The staff here are just absolutely amazing, kind, accommodating, and just wonderful to chat with. The views were amazing and just a fantastic environment to be in.

One thing that we would like to note is that the dinner is a little pricey for the portion size that you receive opposed to the other restaurants that are found in the same cove. Breakfast that was included was perfect and we also had pizza for lunch which was yummy as well.

It would be also nice that the chairs on the beach were included with a guests hotel stay versus having the guests pay extra for one. Having the beach right there is the lure of why we chose this hotel oppose to others, so that was a little disappointing.

Well what a shame! We had such high hopes but the owners of this place and their absolute arrogance destroyed the dream entirely. The location is absolutely superb, every other bar and restaurant overflowing with authenticity and warmth so our trip was saved by their hospitality.
The owners of the hotel sit like lords eating and grazing all day with absolutely no regard to the people supporting their business with not a word of hello, goodbye or enjoy. The rest of the staff are obviously miserable in a way I’ve never seen in Italy, usually it’s a joy to see the workers enjoying a meal together however it was quite clear this was not extended to them here.
Assuming it’s fully booked with or without effort makes them a lazy host and we’d will be returning to Praiano but will stay at La Conchiglia next door, a small family business whose warmth and kindness abounds like the lemon groves surrounding. The little bar and restaurant next door is sublime and always full speaking volumes to the empty tables at Alfonso. Watch out, your arrogance may well be your downfall.

I had really high hopes for this place.
Positive- employee at check in during our stay was really nice and helpful. She gave us information for the Sita and information for the area which was so appreciated. The rooms were nice and clean.
Negative- the beach chairs here were more than what you pay for at L’Incanto in Positano.
The hotel restaurant staff that we encountered was not friendly. We ended up eating at Trattoria Da Armandino.
Overall, I think this area is better for older crowd, would highly suggest going into city of Praiano, and eating at Che Bonita, best pizza and friendly staff.

My stay was wonderful. The property was great and staff were very friendly.
The only draw back for me, was when I booked a shuttle service through the hotel for my next destination I was quoted 130 Euro. When I arrive at my destination the driver insisted that it is in fact 180 Euro. I was really disappointed to have ended my trip that way.

The location is the most unique aspect of this property. To be clear, the beach is not private to guests of this hotel, it is shared with the public and other hotels in the area. While it's beautiful, it is pretty crowded for a small beach, and there is tons of boat traffic.

Our room was sufficient, with a great view, however it was pretty dirty, they did clean it again after we asked, but it was a bit disappointing.

Staff was perfectly \"nice\" but they wouldn't go out of their way for us. They never even asked us how are stay was.

Our stay was very unpleasant. We checked in at 1:45 and were told that our room was not ready, we had to wait at the beach. We were were not clearly told that part of the beach was not for hotel guest, we had to sit on the rocks with our bags. When I used the restroom that was next to the restaurant it was dirty and smelled. That was the reason we did not eat there. Room was very dated, old and did not smell well. Bed was very hard and there was no blanket on it. AIR CONDITIONER DID NOT WORK. We requested a manager to take a look at it, she pressed few buttons and it worked for about 10 minutes, and shut off. Room was very hot, by the time we were ready to go to bed, no one was at the front desk to help us. We did not sleep at all. Breakfast was brought to our room the night before as we had to leave early. Stale bread, ONE egg and box of Corn Flakes. I will leave it at that! Beach was nice, but small, barely any room to sit down. Overall horrible stay!.

The location is great, very close and walkable to Africana night club. The hotel was amazing and clean! The view is amazing! The restaurant at the hotel was delicious and so was breakfast! I like that they reserve the beach chairs for hotel guests, but they are $20 each, which wasn’t worth it for us because we only had 2 hours. Also, the hotel has onsite parking which is extremely rare for the the coast! Highly recommend!

The best

The hotel is a no frills establishment. The rooms are basic and clean with a mini fridge but not stocked. There is no room service. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food served at the hotel is on par with the other restaurants around. However I did notice that the guests weren't hurried and stayed open longer than the other restaurants. It has to be the best located hotel as it's right on the beach and no need to walk up and down a million stairs to get to the beach. You basically walk from your hotel onto the beach. There is a jetty where you can take water taxes to elsewhere on the Amalfi coast. I would suggest that they get a golf cart to take guests up to the main road to get taxis elsewhere

A Hidden Jewel in the middle of the Amalfi Coast

The location is excellent as most of the Amalfi coast is too crowded. This little bay of Praia is right next to Praiano (easy walking distance or ample parking if using car) but it is not so crowded; and it is so picturesque with protected swimming. The staff was very helpful and welcoming; most of our contact was with Sophia and she was wonderful. The room was older but very comfortable and spacious; everything worked and we had a beautiful view of the bay. There are a number of great restaurants right there and others in easy walking distance. Breakfasts at Alfonso were delicious with a balanced variety and excellent service. We especially loved the restaurant next to our hotel, Donna Clelia Bar Mare: delicious food and the best service (owner, Salvatore, made us so welcome).

Junior suite is gorgeous; location is best

Location is great. Marina di Praia has four restaurants right in the harbor, plus another handful in east Praiano within easy walking distance -- right along the \"romantic walk\" carved into the cliffs. The beach at the marina is great for wading / swimming, and you'll find other sundecks and places to sunbathe / jump into the water from the cliffs right by the hotel. Boat trips and taxis can be easily arranged from stands leading up to the dock.

As far as the hotel itself, it is convenient that they own half the beach chairs, so all can be charged to your room at a reduced rate. (Same with the restaurant across the marina, also owned by Alfonso -- which we recommend for easy lunches, but try the other nearby spots for dinner.) The junior suite is gorgeous; it has a ton of space, waterfall shower, and perfect balcony view. Not sure what the other rooms look like, but seemed like they'd be much smaller. For better or worse, Alfonso a Mare definitely has a family-owned vibe.

In all, east Praiano was charming; Marina di Praia was the where the action was, thanks to the beach and boat options; and the hotel itself seemed the most convenient by far in the area. Only look elsewhere if you want to be removed from Praiano itself, and would prefer to stay primarily at your hotel somewhere higher in the cliffs.

We were not informed about the price of parking prior to our arrival. The staff where argumentative and rude when I asked why they were charging us and why is wasn’t in the Itinarary that was sent to me when booking.
On check out i was informed that the room was not paid for disputed me clicking pay now on the Expedia site and seeing money come out of my account from the hotel.
To say I’m not happy is an understatement

Alfofonso a Mare was the absolute highlight of our trip through Italy this time. They are a family and they made us feel at home and treated us like part of their family. Such is the rest of the community of Marina di Praia.
There was nothing that they could not or would not do for our comfort and convenience. Their response to everything was \"certo\" (certainly).
I am a long time airline employee and have traveled much and always hesitate to recommend anything. But if you're going to the Amalfi area stay here at Marina di Praia. You wont regret it!

Ok hotel if your stuck

Old and run down hotel in much need of a face lift. Room was clean, but bathroom wasn't great. Hot water lasted minutes and shower filled up with water and would drain. Breakfast wasn't too bad, amazing location (right on the beach) and very close to about 4 good restaurants. But a little out of the main town, (you can walk there, but it's a decent walk considering the roads in that area)
