There was a family mart nearby to buy things. Not too happy with the AC in our room. Had to endure above 25 degree C first night until we changed room the next day. Even then the AC in the new room was not always strong enough to hit target 21C as set. We were comfortable enough with 22 and didn’t complain further. The staff were friendly and helpful but there’s only so much they can do. Didn’t visit the gym as there’s plenty to do near the property.

Rooms are okay. Staffs have no clear separation of labor/duties. One staff asked me to sit and wait in lobby while they will help me call for taxi. Then she may be asked someone else to do the job. I waited there for about 20 minutes and felt not right. So I went ask her. She looked at me like why I am still here. And instead of helping me, she and the other supervisor started talking and another dude standing behind him for order. What I understand was they gave the taxi to another hotel guests. No apologies what so ever.

Fantastic location - a short walk from 鹽埕埔 station. Room was overall relatively spacious. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Drinking water dispenser available on every floor. Bring your own water bottle, toothbrush and toothpaste and you'll have everything.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the breakfast arrangement during my recent stay at this hotel.

Based on my understanding of my membership benefits, I believed that complimentary breakfast was included at this property. However, upon check-in, I was informed that this was not the case. This came as an unpleasant surprise and caused considerable frustration, as it affected my expectations and plans for the stay.

The many mirrors throughout the room, including mirrored walls, made the space feel uncomfortable. The low ceiling made the room feel cramped and congested. No breakfast was provided. Employees chatting at the lobby entrance, oblivious that they’re blocking customers entering. One of the elevators smelled like pee. My room was spartan with cheap carpeting and not very clean. The toilet seat was not sized for the bowl. Disgusting shower doors. All in all, it’s like an extended stay quality room, not the luxury hotel it says it is. (I stayed in other Chateau du Chine properties and those live up to the branding.)

Fairly bland hotel but good quality and service. We stayed in a deluxe king room and very spacious with walk in shower and a bath and a comfortable bed. On check in our shower head wasnt working and someone was up to sort it out within a minute or two of making a call. Breakfast was extensive, although mainly chinese food (to be expected - there were only a couple of other westeners and its a sizeable hotel). There is a lounge upstairs where in the evening you can free, coffee, soft drinks, beer ans snacks, which was a bonus. There is also a free communal laundry facility. Small gym, although shame not equipped with any weights. Decent location with MRT station less than 5 mins walk and around 15 to Pier 2 area.

My husband and I have traveled around the world and have stayed at many 5-star hotels. We like Chateau de Chine and this is our second visit since 2019. We have good comments on the performances of the staff. However, we feel that front desk and lounge staff could have shown more friendliness with smiles. Breakfast buffet is wonderful, but cafe latte is lukewarm. Toilet is clean. However, toilet seat bolts needs to be tightened. Bathroom is clean and good, to be more user-friendly, we recommend adding a bottle of bath gel at the side of tub, and a box of tissue beside the sink.

This hotel is quite old and run down. There is a lot of humidity throughout the hotel, especially in the elevators. The layout of the rooms, elevators and staircases are reminiscent of a cruise ship from the 1990’s. They do have free laundry machines, which is a fantastic perk. However, the stacked dryer takes hours to dry. Try to get the front loading dryer on the 10th floor that dries in about an hour.

They ask you to pay for your room when you check out. Which is strange.

I chose this hotel based on its high ratings and was somewhat disappointed. What partially makes up for it is their “happy hour” from 6-10 pm where they offer free snacks, pop and unlimited taiwan beer!

The pros:
- Excellent staff: friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
- The rooms are big and well designed with comfortable bedding and relatively good soundproofing.
- The breakfast is delicious with lots of choice.
- The hotel is located close to a subway station and is easily accessible.
The cons:
- Our room was in the back and the kitchen(?) ventilation starting at 5:45 AM kept me awake, in spite of the insulation (do not open the window, this sounded like a rocket starting!).
- the neighborhood is not great, and youll have to walk or take the subway to go in the most interesting part of the city.

Great value for money.

Super good value for money. For the cost of a budget hotel, you get a decent 4 star full service hotel. You even get VIP lounge access for free snacks and drinks. How good is that? Thats usually reserved for elite members in a proper hotel chain.

Its also very close to MRT station very easy to get around. The downside is that its in the old area called Yancheng district so not a lot of modern shops around. But it has its charm. Many nostalgic markets and hidden street food thats only known by locals. Its also very close to the cultural precinct Hamasen, so for someone who likes a bit history and nostalgia, it was the perfect place.

The hotel staff is so helpful and accommodating and will immediately respond to requests. Our room was upgraded to a larger room at no charge. The room was large clean and quiet and very comfortable. The free breakfast buffet is truly excellent with many delicious dishes to choose from. There are many restaurants in walking distance. A very nice vip lounge open to all guests is on the 7th floor with complimentary beverages and snacks. Our stay here has been outstanding and we will return to this hotel for sure the next time we are in Kaohsiung.

Excellent property with beautiful lobby. Also provided a business lounge with free coffee and snacks (not sure if this was available to all rooms or only those on the VIP floor where we booked). Room was very comforably arranged with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Close to Love River and History Museum. The dim sum in the hotel restaurant was of very good quality! Did not use the gym but had a look and there were treadmills and eliptical machines as well as bikes (and well air conditioned). Self serve laundry was available and all machines functioned well. There is a wedding hall on site, so when there is a function, there will be some music noise, but it ended very early in the evening...so not an issue for us.

The service was excellent. Room comes with happy hour lounge access (6-10pm). When we stayed there, we used the lounge over three nights. Each time a staff, Yuan Yuan, was exceptionally welcoming and friendly to not only my daughter but also other children as well. Really made the difference.

My recommendation is for the hotel to relook at the breakfast. Other than the porridge, most of the other offerings are either average or below average. I rather a smaller spread that is better than what I got over the last few days (wide spread of average or below average items):

To the chef, your cold tofu was off. The sauce didn’t taste right. Your bbq char siew is not char siew. Your beef balls need vinegar. The irony is that this hotel has a Cantonese restaurant but it appears that the chefs don’t communicate.

The hotel was much nicer than expected. It’s near Yanngchen MRT and a McDonald’s. The VIP access offered free beer, drinks and snacks on the 7th floor. It was a bit annoying to be in the presence of a few rowdy kids though. Wufu Section 4 has tons of bars, coffee and dining options. I enjoyed Rovers Pub, Oxford Pub and Marinas Pub. Marinas had pretty good food too. For coffee and tea, check out Chill and Bake. The hotel was clean and comfortable. I also appreciate that the staff didn’t harass me to get out the day of check out. I hate hotels that do that! 5 out of 5 stars in my book. Hope to stay again. One more thing, the staff is bilingual and the check in was fast and easy.
