At check in we were told subbed where chargeable - luckily we had an email that told us ours were included - something about the date being 15/06 as chargeable - season change ? Otherwise that would have added €25 per day ! I do think hotels should not charge staying guests to use a facility ! I understand charging a day visitor
Overall a great place - just that minor thing that luckily we resolved (by saving the messages !)

Quiet location on headland adjacent to sea. Some building work in grounds in progress (new conference centre) with crane and some associated noise but not intrusive - September 2024)
Good buffet breakfast.
Short stroll into Petrcane bay with a handful of small bars and restaurants open.
Regular nightly entertainment in bar / main public space area, so noisy and difficult to avoid without sitting outside.
Not impressed by attention to cleanliness in room / bathroom during and between stay.
Staff friendly.
Tip: Ask hotel to arrange taxi transfers - €55 to/from Zadar airport - as we had to pay €85 from airport (after initial quote of €100.

Loved the decor & views. Staff in dining area were very attentive & efficient. Reception staff pleasant but missed telling us about a few of the amenities & how to access them.

Room - a little small, no bath mat so had to get an extra towel to use (didn’t want to slip). No kleenex in the room either.

We loved our stay at the hotel the only thing that put a dampener on things was the lady with the glasses working on reception. We have never encountered anyone so rude, dismissive and unhelpful in any hotels we have stayed in around the world. Every other member of staff was outstanding and friendly. This is the reason we would not return.

The location of the hotel is stunning. The food was great. The spa, gym and swimming facilities are also fantastic.

We would recommend renting a car for your stay as the bus service is infrequent. Uber’s were reliable but the cost can add up quite quickly. It’s only a 15 minute car ride to Zadar old town which is a must and so are the national parks.

Fun with relaxed vibe

We stayed at Hotel Pinija for a week break as a family, 2 adults and a toddler. The hotel location provided good facilities being on the beach and some on-site facilities (kayaks, mini golf, bikes) in addition to the indoor and outdoor pool and spa. It also provided a good base for exploring the region. Breakfast and dinner were wholesome, self service style. The events team entertained children with arts and crafts, swimming lessons and evening night time mini discos and movie nights.

The hotel is value for money. The only negative that we have is the condition and size of the room. It was portrayed as a 'Premium room' capable for 2+1. Being a regular traveller in my opinion there was nothing about the room (size and quality) that could be described as premium, I felt compelled to return to reception for an explanation. The fridge did not function, little things like the radiator was wonky and the shower leaked during our stay. Air con was also turned off by the hotel. We were requested by reception staff to return each morning to see if we could pay for an upgrade but were told they were fully booked. We tolerated the room for getting ready and sleeping only, we had anticipated using it more but chose to have our daughter's naps on the go. If you are content living out of a suitcase, happy with a bed in a room then its fine, if you expect just a little more space and comfort (what you'd expect with premium) than a typical economy room elsewhere then note this at booking.

Front desk staff where not as friendly as the locals in the village. Towels in the room had stains and garbage was left on the counter. The air conditioner did not get the room cold at all.The room never went lower than 25.3 C ( 77 degrees) even though the thermostat was set to 16 C. The hotel charges for everything, if you want to use a towel on their beach or a chair they will nickel and dime you. However the village it is in a great and as I mentioned before the locals are super nice and great food.

Terrible experience

When we came to our room, it was 40 degrees celsius in there. We immediately turn on air conditioning, but it did not help much as it was very out-of-date. So we were forced to go to lobby bar and stay there till 11 p.m. because the heat in out room was unbearable. We had to sleep with AC turned on, otherwise we would not be able to get some rest. The parking on site is free and in the shade, but you hardly get a spot, because they sell daily parking tickets for visitors, who come to the beach for one day. So you have to be lucky or have to come very late, when daily visitors already left. We stayed only one night, because we needed some rest before we continiued our drive back home, but we would definatelly not stay in this hotel if we were on vacation. At least staff was trying to be nice, but did not make much effort to help with the unbearable heat in our room.

I spent a weekend with my son at the hotel. The staff is great! From the reception to the restaurant, they are all great.
Breakfast is ok, dinner too, but don't expect anything spectacular.
All in all, ok hotel with a staff that make you feel good.

It was Ok. The free breakfast was great. Some of the food was a little different in a good way. Staff were excellent!
The only thing that wasn’t the greatest was it’s distance from Zadar. But I knew that when I booked it. The taxi service to and from was available but does cost 150 Kuna each way. No bus service to the area.
Zadar is an exceptionally cool City to visit. I’d rate it up there with Vancouver, New York and Tokyo. They are of course all entirely different places.

Not really a family hotel not enough for kids. A hotel for people who want to sit in the sun all day ever day and nothing else. Need lots of money for water sports. Swimming pool pumps have been broken for at least a year if you check reviews disappointing. Showers broken in indoor pool. Complained to staff replied we are very busy. Out door pool bar is shut till 2pm you have to go inside hotel to get drinks and bring them out not my idea of 4* treatment. All hotel. Com pictures are well out of date hotel does not look like pictures. Water flooding from lights in rain.

The location to the beach is great. We had a suit on the top floor which was light and great views.
When there are a lot of coach parties in the resturant is very busy and the struggle keeping the tables clear.its also hard to identify which tables are still in use when people go up for their food. We foind someone had cleared the dirty plates ffom the table they wanted to sit at onto the table we were still using but were not sitting at as we gone up to the buffet..

Except for the mosquitoes wanting to fly in the room and the tourist taking on the next balcony late at night and early in the morning, this was a great stay. Try out the sea view sauna. Wow. Amazing breakfast. Good large hotel. Lots of tourists. Nice staff.

The hotel is dated. Seems straight out of 1970. Mattress and air conditioner was ancient. Breakfast was amasing but with many tour buses at the hotel breakfast was a little hectic. Still a nice hotel but we were a little disappointed in its quality.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pinija, room was good we had a side sea view room which was lovely. Everything was great tasty breakfast lots of variety and plenty of it.The only criticism would be that all bars were closed except for the one near reception, the hotel was busy so pool bar would have been nice during the day. The surrounding area also was very quiet one restaurant open and a cafe bar which were both excellant but obviously all starting to close for the season. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Pinija.

The hotel is ok but not as nice the pictures shows.
Carpet in hallway are in rough shape and the smell is questionable.
The room was freshly renovated but the A/C unit was old and not really working and the mattress not that comfortable.
Overall the hotel looks dated. Lots of retired people walking around the building wearing only speedos...
The check out is 10am which is fairly early, but don’t worry the cleaning lady will walk in your room at 8am to make sure you’re not late for that !
Overall I’d say ok but definetely worth what we paid for.

We had a great time and were completely satisfied with the property and the service.
The only thing SOME people may not like, as this is the case in most if not all of Croatia, is that there is no sand on the beaches. If you MUST have sand go to Italy or Jamaica. Otherwise the water is great and everything else was fine. Not in Zafar. If sightseeing is on the agenda, you'll have to drive into town that is very nice.

Hotel looks better on photos! The beach area is not very pleasant, the breakfast leaves much to be desired, the spa cannot be used unless you book a treatment or pay a fee. The room was advertised as having a balcony and ours did, but it only overlooked other balconies and part of the very small pool area. Thankfully we only stayed here 2 nights due to our road trip! Staff at the reception was very courteous though, however, I would consider staying elsewhere next time in Zadar.

Misrepresented on tue website. Hoghly disappointing considering i drove an extra 2 hours to visit Zadar for 1 day. Claim it is on a beach, it is a cemwnt patio with cement wall. Tere is a public beach down the road but you cannot move because it is overcrowded. Room is too hot when entering. It is a place definitelyfor families an kids.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location

This is a lovely hotel about 10 mins from Zadar. The hotel is very modern and clean, the rooms are modern and spacious. There are bathrobes, slippers and a few toiletries in the room. The
hotel has a lovely indoor pool and you can pay extra for sauna etc
The restaurant overlooked the pool and had a good selection at breakfast
We ate there in the evening a couple of times, a serve yourself buffet which was lovely for about £15 a head
All the staff were friendly and helpful,

Lovely place to be but as out of season many things were closed near the hotel so choices were limited. The hotels own inside poolside bar wasn't available which was a shame but at least the outside pool bar was open!
Lots of choice for breakfast but for evening meals we ate in an excellent resturant with harbour views in Petrcane.
Lovely spa but you'll need to pay a little extra unless your are all inclusive.

Perhaps 1 too many stars!

The room was perfect. Comfortable and clean. The rest of the hotel not so great. The staff seemed to care very little about anything. The breakfas wasn't great. More about quantity than quality. We found worms in our breakfast and when we brought this to restaurant's head chef attention, we were told it was natural. Don't get me wrong, we understand it is easy to miss couple of small worms but the way the hotel staff hamdled the issue lacked professionalism. We were asked to pay for pool towels which is ridiculous when you have already paid 4 star prices for the room.

The hotel itself was fine. The food was fabulous - cannot fault it at all... our bedding wasn't changed at all despite it needing a change. Our bathroom door needed fixing as soon as we arrived - to be fair it was done very quickly. Some of the services offered aren't what they seem - they don't have an airport service just call a taxi which is double the price of an uber... and other bits and bobs which are minor but take away from the overall experience. Pool was nice but none of the jets / fountain extras were on... might be a private beach but not just for hotel users.

Petrcane is a beautiful town, and the hotel is in a stunning location. It is worth paying for a sea view :) Great restaurant next to the hotel. Regular bus service into Zadar and the bus stops right outside the hotel. Will definitely be back.

we were visiting the old town of zadar. The room was nice and clean. the place is about 20 mins to the free parking area at the old town.
The breakfast was good.
I don't know why the beach towels were not free (15 kuna for each) as the other resorts we visited in Croatia.

The Hotel is welcoming and in general is of a good standard. We had a relaxing time, the hotel is surrounded by trees but a moments walk from the shore line and a couple of minutes walk from the quiet pretty village of Petrcane.

The air con in the room did not work which it means we suffer terribly at night did not sleep well it was too warm in the room.we arrived at 11 pm and my 5 years old son bed was not made in the room. I had to make it myself after asking for some beddings at reception. We were told by receptionist there was a charge to use the indoor swimming pool but it was not true. Also advertising day excursions no longer valid.wi fi just does not work in the room but only in the hotel hall and restaurant very frustrating.a part from these things the hotel was clean and great relaxing location. Food was quite good.

Good property, wide selection of choice for dinner and breakfast. Dinner has many hot food stations and very good quality of food.
A short drive from Zadar and the reception staff can help advise where to park very close to the old town for a very low cost.
there would be great watersports and activities in the summer - we went off season so it seemed like a few things nearby the property had closed for season.

Not bad at all...

Standard holiday hotel. Booked a premium room. Which just meant newly decorated.. I shouldn't have bothered spending the extra money as there was nothing premium about the room, old TV, old ac unit small balcony and bad towels.
Staff offered no advice, and at 9.50 the day I was leaving I found out check out was at 10!
Pool area was lovely. And the area itself is quaint and beautiful.
I didn't use the spa so I cannot comment.
All in all, would be a fantastic 3 star, but lacks a little for the 4 it has.
Oh and food was decent, but far too canteen dining Hall for my liking

RUDE SERVICE, OLD HOTEL - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

This hotel is a classic case of photo fake out, where hotels bait you with fancy descriptions and doctored photos and then you arrive to something completely different.
Right off the bat, the phone in our room didn't work and the wifi didn't work anywhere in the hotel. We complained about both and were told there was nothing they could do about the wifi, and somebody would come take a look at the phone at some point. We stayed at the hotel for two nights, and neither the phone nor the wifi were ever fixed.
The restaurant is buffet-style only, and the food is reminiscent of a bad buffet in Las Vegas, and the atmosphere is equally sad.
We also tried the \"spa\", which you pay for in addition to the room rate. I asked about bathrobes but was told those could only be handed out at the check in desk in the lobby, which is on a different floor from the spa, and that I could go walk there in my bathing suit. The beach outside is rocky and the water is rather wavy, so it's actually not recommended to swim there.
There is nothing within walking distance of the hotel, so we resorted to playing cards in the lobby. We had bought a bottle of wine at a nearby winery that we figured we'd drink over cards. However, when we sat down a staff member (Zlatko) came over and KICKED US OUT of the lobby, saying that we could only drink our own wine upstairs in our hotel room. He began speaking very loudly (to embarrass us?) and said we must take our wine upstairs and leave immediately.

Enjoy Croatia

This is a brilliant hotel with everything you need for a relaxing time. It's right on the coast, although no beach as such there is plenty of access points to get into the sea and swim or just chill on the available sun loungers. There is also an outdoor pool which is very small and always seemed to be filled with kids, however the indoor pool is huge and was almost always empty!

Recommend eating at Konoba Toka nearby and also making reservation.

Hotel is lovely with so much to do. You could book all your activities on site. The price is decent.transport to central zadar is with a bus which u pay for everytime. There are local restaurants by the beach which are really good. The hotel had live bands and singers perform.beach is 15 seconds walk.water is crystal clear.plenty of options during dinner dinner service but no halal meat.spa is excellent. Staff are good but could brush up on english. Use the shuttle fly company. The have a website for pick up and drop off from airport. Cheaper than hotel and local taxi

Food was terrible. Cleaning of the room did not hapend.
The building reminded me of a sovjet military office.
The ac did bearly work.

Average Hotel with meals included

The rooms A/C and refrigerator did not work at all. They ran, but the A/C was like a fan running. When it is 90 degrees out and you only have 1 small window the room got very uncomfortable. Breakfast and dinner were included, but very average food. No iron was in the hotel room. The wifi barely worked unless you were in the hotel lobby. The beach area was nice, and prices for drinks were average. If you walk around the peninsula it is a very cute town and nice to walk around at night. Also, the hotel was very hard to find, because the address in the navigation did not work and we had to ask locals on the street to find it.

Beach is good

Hotel was beautiful but our room was off in the corner in the part of the hotel they didn't bother to turn the lights on . WiFi didn't work in room but beach was good

Zadar sunsets

We came for the sunset during a whistlestop tour of Croatia and we were not disappointed. The hotel is set in a pine forest with lots of activities like tennis, mini golf, spa. The hotel staff very friendly. We were here for a single night and didnt want to leave. The swimming pool and outside bar a great place for families during the day with ice cream parlour, snack bar and outside massage service adding to the experience. We were really impressed, didnt want to leave and will be returning with the family. This is a typical half board hotel experience, lots of families but few English holiday makers not that this was a problem just worth a mention, everyone spoke english. Loved our stay and if you want a single destination you can go to and not leave throughout, just focus on relaxing this is the place t

Great food - love the half-board option!

Couldn't find reasonably priced accommodation in Split, so we booked the 'Expedia special' at Pinija with the half-board option, and were pleasantly surprised. It was a bit of a drive (2 hours), but well worth it in the end.

I saw comments that to 'take or leave the half-board option', but I would definitely take it at the small fee that was charged (about $10 AUD with the expedia special). Dinner was open until 9 PM, which was great for us arriving at 7:30 PM. We love buffets, and the quality and selection of the hotel food was great - I was surprised at the limitless supply of mussels at dinner. There was also entertainment for kids (man on stilts making balloon animals, jumping castles nearby, etc.), so it seemed like a nice place to take the family on holiday (although we were a couple, and enjoyed it as well).

The breakfast was great - scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, sausages, meats, cheeses, breads, toast, about 5 juice types, at least 2 different desserts - lots to choose from. Check-out was at 10 AM, but the staff happily accommodated our request to leave at 11 AM.

The town Petrcane is small quaint, and seems like a nice relaxing place.

Stayed one night - highly recommend it if you have a car.

Great Hotel, just a little to early in the season.

Great Hotel, Only bad point I would say is that we were to early. A lot of the bars and entertainment in the hotel was still closed. We went the last week in May.

Very good hotel in many aspects

The hotel staff were most helpful in room upgrade, information giving, currency change; buffet breakfast of very good variety, waitors & bartender very friendly ... In addition, hotel location & beach are excellent. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Fantastic!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. I can't fault anything. The staff were great, very helpful, clean, food was lovely for hotel buffet food, always fresh and plenty of choice. Yes its in a quiet area but there is a bus that takes 30mins into Zadar and they run frequently. During the summer (june - september) they have daily trips available. there are only 3 restaurants and about 3 bars around that area but it suits it. Its such a lovely pretty place so peaceful. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going again. If you do go and fancy eating out try the restaurant with the boat on the ceiling, so cheap and food to die for, seriously.

Very nice hotel on the beach and very quiet.

It was very interesting because a group of german tourist arrived with a very happy own band after dinner. They were all happy, dancing and singing.
