The hotel was 20 minutes from downtown Zadar. 20euro taxi. We did not know it was all inclusive, but we did have a nice dinner. Unfortunately the lobby juice, bee and coffee machines were locked when we tried to go. We walked a lot, around the waterfront and in what is solely a residential area. At the entrance of the property was a bus stop to downtown. The people at the desk were all very nice. Quick easy check in and out. A nice pool.

I didn't expect much for a 3 star but it still needs to be said that the hotel would benefit from a deep clean in areas. I requested a room clean several times during my stay and still the dead wasp on my windowsill remained. Very flat pillow, had to request another one to avoid a bad neck, bed also not that comfy and the broken unsafe path to the beach is an accident waiting to happen, the hotel is generally in need of a refresh throughout. Food was mostly okay though not much variety with deserts. Overall I can't really complain for the price paid, just don't go there with unrealistic expectations.

Hotel was outdated, didnt feel very clean. We booked a room with one bed, however it came with two beds but one just didnt have sheets or pillows. We found a couple maggots under the mattress. Overall the hotel just needs work...

The complete lack of control of other guests (the couple hundred preteen/teenage footballers). There were no guardians holding them accountable to be respectful of other guests of which I complained to reception 3 times over the course of several hours. They were playing football in the parking lots, the hallways, the lobby. They were banging on doors, yelling at all hours, blasting music. I asked reception for an extra pillow around 10-1030pm which never arrived.

Hotel is in a quiet area, if you want to head into Zadar city centre you can't walk but Ubers are cheap.
Plenty of seating by the pool and in the bar. The hotel is right on the coast, which is a nice walk and the view of the sun set from there is beautiful.

The dining options tend to be same for lunch and dinner.

Room looked slightly old fashioned but the bed was comfortable, clean and the shower was good.

Clean hotel very repative food ,no diet drinks being a diabetic very poor , very poor for disabled people all toilets down at least 15 steps ,all double rooms very small my wife's in a wheelchair but hotel in nice location nice surroundings,but entrainment was poor no outside lighting all entertaining is by pool at so dangerous for small children to darkto see them if they wonder off.

So this was our second time here and it was even better than last time, seafront setting and cracking pool, definitely only a 2.5* as it’s a little tired but evidence that they are improving, food and drink options 6/10 but you get what you pay for 👍 Location has won us over 😎 if you fancy a change of delicacy one night, turn left out of the back of the hotel and a 5 min walk will lead you to the Famous Bar/Restaurant, great pizzas and perfect to watch the sunset 🌅

Nice hotel in lovely grounds virtually on the beach. The room was nice and clean with a comfy bed. We enjoyed sitting by the pool in the evening with a local brandy. Staff were lovely, the only downside was the bus loads of teenage schoolchildren arriving daily for a one night stay which made the hotel and dining room quite busy. The food was ok but mostly cold, even the fried eggs at breakfast, but there was a good selection for lunch and dinner.

Really bad outdated hotel ,all inclusive food was mostly tasteless recycled .i am diabetic and all drinks were full syrup and there was no snacks available throughout the day and no ice cream for anyone with children ,music blasting at pool bar was just about rave !! Dont go to this hotel you hsve been warned !!!!!
Dont know who done other reviews but they could never have stayed anywhere better

Ligger nära havet men långt ifrån city. Enformig mat och mest kaos i matsalen. Frukost, lunch och middag ingick i all inclusive men inget snacks, glass eller drinkar däremellan. Alldeles för få solstolar. Alla solstolar tagna redan innan kl 7 på morgonen och stod sedan paxade men tomma i stort sett hela dagen. Kommer inte besöka detta hotell igen. Absolut inte värt pengarna för all inclusive

Popular all-inclusive hotel in Borik

The hotel was built in the 1980s and it shows. The rooms are smallish, but kept immaculately clean. The hotel grounds are well kept. The all-inclusive program provides excellent value. A variety of warm and cold dishes is served 3 times a day. The nearby beach is pebbly and access to water is somewhat difficult. The hotel seems popular with German and Swedish visitors.

Hotel has seen better days - but is serviceable and AI makes it excellent value.
10-15 minute bus ride to town for 12kn along picturesque waterside. Coastal walkway on the edge of a spacious green site with various Falkensteiner hotels. Recommend Walk to Diklo and beyond.
Food in hotel repetitive but good choices available. Pool bar open all day til 10pm - soft drinks, beer,wine included.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a hotel. I called the front desk to confirm I could check in later than midnight and they said no problem. I showed up at around 2am and they said they are fully booked. The man at the front desk was also very unhelpful. He said that he could see my reservation but there were no free rooms. Eventually him and another found a room and went in to get it ready, which took an hour and a half. So finally after waiting in the lobby, extremely tired, I was finally let into the room, and was provided a lunch bag (very gross - slices of dry bread, a canned meat spread?, fruit and yogurt). I wasn’t really provided any info at check in either like when check out is or breakfast. Then to top it off, at about 8am someone on staff came into the room. There was also banging and loud noises throughout the morning. Overall a bad experience and would not recommend, especially at such a high price. Good note - nice location, very close to the beach.

Super helpful and friendly staff (more than happy to help me work on my Croatian whilst I was there). Food selection at the restaurant is good so I recommend all inclusive and watching the sunset from just behind the hotel is a beautiful experience.

Buses are easy to get into town (although I walked - about 45 minutes).

OK! that is all I can say,could’ve made my stay a bit nicer if staff were friendly! but that wasn’t the case, I was a lone traveller and they focused more on big groups or families! rooms are absolutely awful, very out dated and just really wasn’t pleased with anything AT ALL! I’m not fussed in staying at budget hotels but for the price I paid for, I’d expect at least kettle and coffe in my room!

the restaurant was good, plenty to eat, the pool was nice and the staff was very helpful. If you have a car , easy to drive to the old town, and park the car, have to buy the parking ticket, which is reasonable, At the port, you can buy short , few hour boat trip, at reasonable price.

Our week in Zadar

Great location and we had a room with sea views and a double balcony! In a double room apartment. Hotel little dated but clean & friendly staff. However not made clear about double room. We booked 2 when 1 may have been sufficient. Food was good. Plenty of choice & loads of it. The all inclusive drinks was not so good! Choice of soft drinks, still/sparking water, red/white wine, coffee or tea and 1 local beer. Usually you'd get at least 1 local spirit?! Quality not great. Shandies & spritzers order of the day. Also it was between 10am til 10pm. So you couldn't have a hot or soft drink in bar area B4 10am. You had to go to restaurant in other nearby building. Pool was nice size & kept very clean. Some Sun loungers around it would have been nice. Easy to get into Zadar Old Town by bus, cab or Fun Train! Plenty of alternative eateries in the local area Borik if you fancy a change from the hotel. Part of Falkensteiner resort so all the taxi driver familiar with it. Happy Hour for cocktails all day Monday & Thursday. Rep on site for excursions to see islands. Good if you like, nuisances if you're not interested! Overall, we're happy with our stay.

Hotel Donat is located very close to the sea. It is very convenient. The hotel has a swimming pool and a bar nearby. The bar always had free drinks (soft drinks, beer, wine, tea, coffee). The service was very good, the room was cleaned well. The food in the restaurant was diverse, it contained lots of vegitables and fruits, On the last day we were provided with lunch bags. We enjoyed staying in the hotel and would like to come back

Worth the price

We were a little bit unsure about booking this hotel because of some reviews. The hotel is indeed a bit dated but overall our stay was pleasant and surely worth the price we paid. There were a few groups but it was not too full as we stayed end of September. There are three buildings and we stayed in a room with partial view of the sea. Direct access to the beach from the pool which is decent size. The food was plentiful but not gourmet. There is parking and it is close to Zadar city centre, we paid around US$ 5 uber ride each way. There is also a tourist train that leaves close from the hotel every 1h for Kuna 20 per person each way. So, we think it was a very good deal for the price we paid.

Superb value all-inclusive hotel

We noted that the prices fall a lot from mid-September so we managed to get a room here for around £60 a night all-inclusive for two people. The hotel is one of three on the site, the other two of which are more modern but this one is fine. The room we were given included two bedrooms with double beds, each with a balcony, separated by a corridor with a sink, and a bathroom. The hotel has a small pool, and there is a free-to-use table tennis table.

The all-inclusive package included breakfast, lunch and dinner, with drinks available from the bar from 10am to 10pm (the bar is open to 11pm). The free drinks are all self-service, with wine, beer, soft drinks and coffee (from machines but using fresh coffee beans). We liked it that they use proper 200ml classes and cups, not the plastic cups that many all-inclusive cups wastefully use. There are plastic cups available for taking out however.

As we arrived late we were given a bag of food which was pretty unpleasant in taste, but fortunately we found the food in the restaurant to be very nice with a large, fresh selection. We enjoyed every meal there and it really is outstanding value to get all this for such a good price.

The service was very good, the room was cleaned well, the restaurant kept well-stocked (and it was not crowded), and the receptionists were helpful. On our last day we were allowed to have lunch and to continue having free drinks during the afternoon.

Hotel Donat all inclusive.

Got what I think was a good all inclusive deal online, I had stayed at the old Hotel Zadar next door before the war about 1990 and had a great holiday, that hotel is now closed and used for staff accomadation. the Hotel Donat has a spacious cool loby come lounge and bar area with friendly staff with access to the quite large outside pool with clean clear water with sun loungers around it You take meals in the building opposite which has a very large dining room enough to take hundreds at a time, the buffet is set centraly in two parts hot and cold in two locations in the room there are help yourself drinks dispensers for jiuces wine and beer. Along with a selction of fish meats veg pasta cold salads and deserts there is a selsction of fruits on the desert table, so personaly I enjoyed the food. My room was clean had a good bathroom a comfy bed and an unrestricted view of the sea from the balcony which had a table and chair.

The hotel itswlf is very dull and even the staff looked like they hated life. The room was ok but the bed was the WORST bed I've ever slept on. My back was in pain every morning and I literally couldn't sleep due to tossing and turning all night. The food was bland with very few selections, and mixed drinks are not included in the all-inclusive. The location is on a little pebble beach which would be nice in the summer but we came during the off season to avoid crowds. The Internet is decent so I was grateful to have at least one good amenity. I am a stickler for reviews and I hate to leave bad comments but spend your money elsewhere.

I didnt enjoy my stay at the hotel at all .....i found the hotel to be depressing .....some food was ok , breakfast was awfull ...couldnt believe there was no spirits to drink as it was all inclusive .... The hotel and bedrooms smelt of smoke to me , so many people smoked close to the hotel and around the pool .....
On a plus side the staff were friendly but i wouldnt go back there again

You get what you pay for!

I had read all the previous reviews and it was exactly the same. The hotel needs an update. It's old and run down. Staff are lovely and the room was cleaned every day. The rooms are very small. The food was fine. A huge variety every day. Although it is very heavy food ~ lots of creamy sauces.
The bus service from hotel to old town is very good and runs regularly.
On our second last day a group of kids arrived and they were very noisy. I was thankful we were leaving the next day.

Really nice Hotel!

Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. Food was beautiful, something different everyday, and catered for everyone's needs.All inclusive drinks of beer, wine and soft drinks, coffee , tea were nice and the pool was lovely. A fabulous Hotel with a lovely view of the sea.

Good Zadar base for our Croatia holiday

We stayed here early Oct - initially 2 nights and then, after 3 nights away, another 5 nights. The hotel suited us well: nice location by the sea; very good local bus service to centre & to main bus station; generally good food (some very good); acceptable all-inclusive drinks; very helpful staff; fairly well-equipped large room with balcony; overall, very good value for money. However, the hotel is not for everyone: it is not modern; it is definitely not stylish; we never came across a lift (our block had 3 floors); there were 2 errors during our stay - a missed wakeup call and our finding another guest in our room (he had been given our key by mistake) - but fortunately neither caused any real trouble. On the plus side, when we arrived the first night just before midnight, packed suppers were provided by reception (without being asked); we also obtained packed suppers on a subsequent evening when we arrived back too late for the dining room but this may not be standard (we were soaked to the skin after an eventful day-trip and may have been taken pity on!). N.B. the hotel is undersold on Hotels.com & some other websites, which state a significant charge for WiFi: however, WiFi was free while we were there and, from other reviews we have seen, it would appear that it was also free earlier this year [Hotel Donat & Hotels.com please note!!]. In summary, Hotel Donat met all our needs as a good base for exploring Zadar and the surrounding area.

Gone back in time

Felt like a cross between a refugee camp and a school excursion .Reminded me of a hotel with my family in the 1960's. Full of Croations families holidaying there.Only positive experience was the price was all inclusive meaning all meals , you just had to wear a white plastic armband . food not too bad served in a big reception hall buffet style!!! Hotel has not been updated since the 1960's , room very small and depressing .

This hotel is part of a complex of 3 hotels, all right next to each other, with this one housing the restaurant for the complex. It is right next to the coastline and has facilities to do various water sports and has loungers if you just want to chill be the sea. The staff are very polite and friendly, I had a single room and it had everything I could need for a comfortable stay, was very clean but everything was a bit outdated and could do with a refurbishment, but I was happy. This is an all inclusive hotel so you get meals and dinks included in the price, the restaurant was clean and very well presented and the meals come as a buffet for you to help yourself. I personally thought the food was tasteless, bland and tasted like it had been over boiled, even the meat. But there was a broad selection. The hotel is about 4km away from the city centre and is easy to walk or you can get the bus just outside the hotel for a small fee. All in all I wasn't impressed with this hotel, but if you just need somewhere to sleep and store your stuff it's ok.

was a little sceptical about this place after reading some reviews .it was however perhaps better than expected , the choice of food is very good at breakfast and dinner ,there was both meat and fish dishes as well as a reasonable amount for veggies . we didn't have lunch as we were out sightseeing each day / it is about 45 minutes walk to town but is served by buses every 15 minutes with a journey time of ten minutes and costing 10 krna the choice of drinks on the all inclusive was very very poor,. red or warm white wine and then just , coke ,orange ,soda etc or tea and coffee no spirits whatsoever not even house brands not exactly a relaxing holiday hotel but a fair choice for visiting zadar

The older generation and authoritarian staff

I had expected the dated 70's decor which greeted me as this was mentioned in a review I had read before booking. And in some respects I was looking forward to seeing it as partly my trip was inspired by seeing some of the communist history etc of Croatia. However, I had not expected the rest of the history to still be in place with retired older generation folk ambling arround, shouting over their televisions and waking up unsociably early. The staff viewed a young chap such as myself with suspicion asking to see my papers before I was allowed to eat my all inclusive dinner and the final staw was when mid meal I was turfed out of my seat for sitting in the 'wrong place' by a member of staff doing his best Marshal Tito impression.

Every meals are inclusive.
The beach is right in fornt of the hotel and has swimming pool and free drinks.
Though the food isn't so great but not too bad. It's a buffet.
The location is quite far from the Zadar old town but there are bus (no. 5) goes town every 10~20 mins and takes about 10 mins to get to the town.

I stayed at the Hotel Donat for 4 nights in mid July. The hotel was reasonably easy to find by public transport from the airport, although bus drivers didn't speak much English but were friendly. Check-in was fine. The room was conveniently located for access to the swimming pool and beach and had a balcony and air conditioning, which was good. While the bathroom was modern and fine, the bed was small and uncomfortable and the decor was drab and old-fashioned. The chambermaids got going early from 7.30 or so so not much chance of sleeping late. The breakfast buffet area was always busy but there was plenty of food to stock up on. The #5 bus stopped nearby every 20 minutes and travel time into Zadar was only 10 minutes. It was too far to hike into town, given the temperature was always in the 30s. Overall this hotel caters primarily for families so don't go if you're allergic to kids. The pool was often crowded with children so not really suitable for anybody looking to do a few lengths. And children played noisily on the amusements in the lobby area until 10.30 - 11.00 pm every night . There was some noise from motorbikes and the campsite nearby until 4.00 am but I think security clamped down on this next day. The sea and beach (stony not sand) was right beside the hotel so couldn't be more convenient. The restaurants near the beach were all fine and pretty cheap too. And the sunsets every evening were the best you'll see anywhere

Short Stay in Zadar

The hotel is far away from the town. The room is very small, the furniture is too old and of bad quality.There is a continous and disturbing noise from the equipments supporting the operation of th ehotel and there was not any sounf insulation at all. The aircondition is very noisy and you cannot sleep with the air condition on. There is not any fridge in the room. How to catch the bus into the old town...

The manager said walking to the old town would take about 30 minutes. The hotel should provide a written for getting into town from the hotel (with a bus schedule), but here's my notes: Walk 5 minutes to the bus stop outside the hotel complex. Take the #5 bus (Puntamika) to the stop for Mala Poshta. Have the driver or a local indicate the stop, they aren't indicated by signs or by the driver. From there, it's a straight walk across the bridge into the old town. On the way home, the stop for the hotel is called Puntamika. Again, ask the driver or a local to indicate it for you. A bus map can be found in the \"Zadar In Your Pocket\" guide available as a free online PDF and at the hotel (maybe). Also, be sure that you try the world-famous local \"cherry brandy\" liqeur (sweet and red) and the \"maraskino\" distilled cherry brandy (clear). They're both made by the Maruska distillery in town from Zadar's famous maraschino cherries. Get less expensive bottles at a grocery store like Konzum.

communist era, mass tourism hotel

This is a pretty classic \"communist era, mass tourism\" sort of hotel. There were several German tour buses in the parking lot when we pulled in and that really sums up the place better than anything else I can say. The great thing about the hotel was it was affordable,reasonably comfortable, and it came with lots of food included. The location was a little challenging -- probably great in the summer for access to the beaches but not great in terms of getting into old town Zadar (or getting there easily from the bus station. Their website doesn't really make it clear how \"close\" they are to the sights that they list as nearby. They are nearby if you really, really like walking. Still, the younger staff were really helpful and the room was large and met my basic needs. For those who are nostalgic for the 70's and Tito and who aren't particularly squeamish about dirty carpets, this is a great place.

This hotel has 2 different areas - beware

On checking in we were shown to a very small, uncomfortable basic room with a tiny bathroom, dirty shower and broken showerhead. It was on 3rd floor with no lift and I am disabled. We complained and were told another room was not available that night but we would be changed in the morning as we had booked 5 days all inclusive. In the morning we were put in a two roomed suite with views over the pool & beach with a much more updated interior, new bathroom and quilts instead of old blankets on the bed. Over the next few days it was evident that people were put in the 'hostel type' rooms unless they complained ! The food was all buffet and very good value - plenty of choice and filled up as soon as the trays became low. The drinks were basic but adequate and we were even supplied with picnics on the dasy we were out for the day. The hotel has a lovely position on the sea front and all of the Dalmation coast is rocky. The sunsets were fab. All in all I would recomend this hotel but beware of room allocation and don't be affraid to ask to move.

You get what you pay for

The hotel was more of like a retirement community. It has that funny smell that you get when you walk into your grandparent's house. The breakfast was not all that great, but edible. However, the room was very clean and the receptionist at the from desk recommended an awesome restaurant that was fantastic.

Min andra vistelse här. Läget vid stranden och med bra bussförbindelse till city är mycket bra. Maten är vällagad och god, det finns mycket att välja på. Personalen är trevlig och hjälpsam såväl reception som restaurang och städ. Det enda som stör är att det ofta spelas musik på mycket! hög volym i ba

Det som var fantastiskt bra var läget. Väldigt nära havet.
Annars var det ett slitet hotell. Vårt rum luktade lite lustigt. Väldigt dålig mat i deras all inlusive och oengagerad personal överlag på hotellet.

Ich war echt super zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Das Essen war richtig lecker und es gab genug Auswahl, ich hab eigentlich alles mal probiert und es hat immer geschmeckt. Die Getränke waren auch gut, sogar mit Alkohol keine Kopfschmerzen gehabt, dass sagt schon was über die Qualität.

Die Lage ist top: direkt am Strand, und vom Pool aus sieht man das Meer. Der Pool ist groß genug und angenehm warm.

Das Personal war total freundlich und entspannt, überhaupt nicht aufdringlich. Ich hab mein Zimmer viel früher bekommen als gedacht und durfte sogar kostenlos bis 14 Uhr auschecken, fand ich richtig nett!

Ganz ehrlich: Ich versteh nicht, was manche hier zu meckern haben. Klar, es sind nur 3 Sterne und kein Luxus, aber man hat alles, was man braucht, um einen schönen Urlaub zu verbringen.

Man får mycket valuta för sina pengar. Mycket god mat med varierande maträtter, speciellt olika fiskrätter inkluderat de alla bästa sorterna från Adriatiska havet, som på restauranger kostsr mellan 80 och 120 euro per kg.. Mycket höga hygieniska krav i matlagningen och serveringen som gör att man slipper turistsjukan. Alldeles i närheten av den bästa stranden i Zadar området
som är handikappanpassad också.

Slitet men bra mat

Hotellet/rummet var slitet men fyllde sin funktion. Maten var mycket bra och varierad. Superbra frukost. Jättebra pool och i direkt anslutning till stranden. Toppen solbäddar med tak! Väldigt trevlig personal och bra service. Rekommenderas! Sämre: dåligt wifi. Små hissar. Inga snacks tillgängliga mellan måltider trots all inclusive.
