The gentleman that greeted us and stored our luggage because we were early was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and extremely roomy for a twin and king bed. There is no restaurant onsite but very walkable to lots of nearby restaurants. Location very central to the weekend night markets.

You get what you pay for. Room was tidy but wasn’t a nice stay. The cooling system wasn’t strong enough and the shower pressure was super weak. No slippers or face towels. Also want to flag a tourist/non-resident tax issue during check-in. When booking through Expedia, the tourist tax is paid by Expedia and this is confirmed in writing in the booking confirmation email. I showed this to the front desk lady during check-in and she insisted that I still had to pay. The amount was trivial and not worth arguing. But I raised this with Expedia and they refunded me. Seems like there’s some sort of misalignment happening here.

Time to change the mattress and the blanket. The blanket is very thin and it is very cold in the night with the aircon on. The aircon controller basically cannot adjust the wind strength. It is always at the higher fan even it has set to the lowest. Location is very good. you can walk to the jonker street.

The hotel is a very short walking distance to the major tourist attractions in Melaka.Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is provided. Rooms are very dated and my room had water damage which has not been repaired. The room was made available to us with the toilet and bathroom soaking wet after being washed. The room itself is dusty and not clean. Would I come here again? I don't think so.

Staff were uninteresred before 3pm. Reception was present but on the phone. Only saving grace of the hotel is Wong who attended to us when we arrived before 3pm. We were allowed to deposit our luggage. Rest of the stay was \"meh\" corridoor was covered in obvious water patch. Rooms were spacious, everything was chargeable. Nice if you like bugs for room mates

Was a good stay. Had all the basic amenities and was close to the red square and Jonker street. They had maintenance on our floor which took out power and water but we were heading out anyways and by the time we were back, it was all functioning with no problems.

my room didnt have hair dryer. my sisters' room didnt have air-cond.

my room was more expensive than my sisters' rooms but was so basic and ugly. their rooms were so nice.

my room didnt even have a window. very claustrophobic.

The facade is all colonial but the amenities are few. Parking was sparse and outdoor on rocky surface. The towels and other hotel supplies were below my expected standard. Having stayed at other colonial type of hotels, I expected a higher standard. Even the welcome area / reception was dull and not inviting but the hotel room was clean and spacious enough. Breakfast was OK.

The building outside look nice but the service and facilities were very dissappointing. Firstly, the receptionist not very attentive. She only provide my breakfast voucher when I request (she didnt aware). Secondly, the room was small and didnt provide tower. Third, the breakfast area was really small and lack of choices. Great location

It’s a stone throw away from Jonkers street. A lot of local food outlets nearby for meals all day. The room is acceptable, with limited TV channels.
Free parking onsite provides great convenience.
The blanket and sheets kind of thin, so don’t blast the Aircon if you are afraid of the cold.
Overall a good hotel at great locations.

We had a room for three which was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helped us book taxis. Breakfast was in the rooftop bar and had a variety of foods to suit different tastes. It is only a short distance to walk to the tourist attractions in the town and some very good, cheap restaurants in the nearby streets.

The hotel looks great from photos and exterior, as this is my 5th or 6th visit to Malacca. However when I checked in my room, the floor mate is wet and the washroom has clearly been used by previous customer who may just checked out. When I talked to the cleaning staff and manager outside, they said the room service had been done and it was ready for check in. However the toothbrush and shampoo kit are not properly put, don't even mention the soaked floor matt outside washroom and the wet glass. After negotiation with front counter staff, we got a new room next door but when we went in, there was a strong smoking odour. By the way, the cleaning staffs there that day were three men who look quite blur about what to do. Beware of suck kind of service, you may be let down and hopefully you won't run into the same situation like me.

Great potential but not quite there yet.

Hotel is in the middle of renovations everywhere and is damp- evidence of leaks everywhere. Location is absolutely excellent and staff try their best. Breakfast is basic. Hotel has great potential if renovated and maintained regularly. I hope the owner focuses attention on it asap - can be a real gem if looked after properly.

Awesome Location

There is something special about staying in a colonial building in Melaka and The Sterling is the place to be. Quaint and clean. Suuper close to where you want to be. The surrounding area is quiet aftet 830pm but take a 5min walk to the riverside and you will see people enjoying the cool night, dining at little cafes along the river. You'll also find a pretty awesome cafe called Malaccafe serving really good cakes.

The Hotel condition is good but the Service is bad. Never prepare any Tower and Bathroom stuff (Soap, Shampoo, Shower Gel) in room even after they make-up the room. House Keeping no body answer call and we need to go reception to ask for it.
Bathroom condition also no good. 1st day Halfway shower suddenly there is no Hot water. 2nd day totally no water. have to call Hotel staff to repair it. They need to improve they service.

Yellow stains on mattress cover, black and yellow stains on pillows, loose hairs found on pillows. No hot water, no manager on duty to reflect my frustration. Hotel staffs need to refer to manager for my complaints but even the next day, no attempt by anyone to contact me. A four star hotel as indicated by Expedia is not necessary the case. The star rating is unreliable. The room I stayed was so dirty that I will make a formal complaint to local authority about the hygiene and management of the hotel.

Upon checked-in, I took a shower and realized after that there were no towels in the bathroom. My daughter called housekeeping and was first told that they would be sent in 10min. After 15min, she called again and was informed that the towels would be arriving at 4pm from external laundry service. It was around 2.30pm then and I was shivering in the bathroom. We had to suggest to Housekeeping to get towels from unoccupied rooms for our emergency needs. The towels came 10mins after we offered the solution.

When checking us in, Front desk should alert us that the rooms are ready but without towels. We will expect staff to be able to solve their logistical problems without the need for guests to provide advice. Never staying here ever again.

The Sterling was an UNPLEASANT stay. They do not provide water heater. They are facing serious plumbing problem-water choke. Their aircon is not cold. they are unable to provide technical service and solution to resolve upon request. My Family members got sick because of the uncomfort stay in this hotel. I will not recommend for future stays.

The room had areas which looked unpresentable from wear and tear. There was no hot water in the shower and jacuzzi after a day of rain because their hot water supply is solar powered, which to me posed to be the most unappealing feature of all. Calling the front desk to get something done for me i.e. providing new clean towels/cleaning room, meant taking at least 1 1/2 hours before you can expect someone to be at your door. On the up side, employees at the front desk and maids were very polite, albeit the latter being slightly too noisy when they are cleaning nearby rooms.

Nice and spacious room to begin with. Friendly counter staff and check in was a breeze. A tad too much of scents which is not too ideal for people who are sensitive to the scents or etc. Nearby quite a few local eateries which we find it amusing since we are traveling the local way instead of the touristy way.

Bad experience for my 2nd time choosed ur hotel.Such disappointed for the cleaness and bathtub.The room 201 was smelly and the bed,curtain very dirty and uncomfortable.

Good location with a short walk to Heritage Area and Jonker Street. Breakfast buffet and restaurant area was below par. Leaking roof as it was raining. Huge tables and chairs for such a small dining area.
