Terrific place to stay in Melaka’s old town. Great location with all the main sites easily walkable or a short Grab ride away. Spacious, spotless rooms with lots of charm. A real sanctuary when you need to rest between sightseeing adventures. The staff are great too, and the hotel is very safe and secure. Cannot recommend enough!

It is right next to the famous Jonkor street and easy access to all the main attractions in Melaka.

It's an older house revamped to be a two stories hotel with about 9 rooms fitted in. As expected the rooms in the middle have little to no sunlight and relies on small internal garden section to get some lights in.

The room it self is not bad and the water pressure is very good. However the room itself is a bit old and the towels needs refresh.

Convenient but can be better

Location was good as it was within walking distance to Jonker Walk and plenty of dining spots. But villa was full of mosquitoes and had a strong misty smell. Only 1 key given for 3 families staying together. Would have helped if housekeeping had (1) air the house before check in, (2) provide some mosquito repellent coils, more bottled water and toilet paper, (3) provide 2 or more keys so that family members could have gone out or return at different timings without constraint of only 1 key. Front room was very noisy and there was basically no sound proofing at all. We could hear people talking anywhere in the house, TV and people talking in the living room on 1st level could be heard clearly on the 3rd level.

I had the upstairs room at the front so traffic noise was constant. Bathroom well appointed and the room was fine but basic and furniture pretty tired. Property overall is lovely and the location is perfect. Plenty of food and beverage options around and everything is walkable. Staff were pleasant although there was little interaction and they were unable to assist with any tourism questions or information.

Excellent for short stays.

A simple no frills hotel, good for a short overnight stay for a single person, at least for the price and size of my room. It was a small space so a couple will find it a challenge to move around the space but, of course, anything is possible when one is on a budget.

I feel the room was more than pleasant in this category. The pics look better than it actually was but no complaints there. It was still better and nicer than others I have been in Malacca. I would go back and I highly recommend it.

Oh, very importantly, for bikers from Singapore, the hotel has a secured backyard for your bikes. That’s a huge plus.

The hotel is a true surprise to us. It was nicely converted and renovated into a modern hotel in an older building. Only one block from Jonker street entrance but far enough to avoid the noise and traffic during the night market. Within walking distance to mist of the tourist attractions in Malacca. Will definitely stay here again.

Uniqueness- it’s quaintness. It’s like a family living together. Staff were polite and smiled but no have had no conversations at all with us .
Breakfast is a good time for small chats but it was mostly served in silence .
Coming back to hotel , we were always greeted with a smile followed by a good night straight away. Small short conversations would have really made the stay amazing .

Rooms were beautiful , bathroom luxurious . No room for 2 nd luggage though. Quite inconvenient . Hard to move around. The bed without bumping into the next person .
Overall- pleasant . Will recommend you others !

We are so glad that we chose this hotel. One block off from Jonker street and convenient for sightseeing. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. Staff are friendly and helpful, our room was clean, nice mattress, coffee, tea, etc. The breakfast buffet was very nice as well. I went back for the third plate. If you are vegetarian, they can accommodate but you need to request in advance.

I really loved our stay at Gingerflower! The hotel was clean, our first room was good for our 2 nights but management upgraded us for our second night (we were satisfied with everything and had not requested).
We enjoyed the hotel breakfast very much (local food).
I had been to Malacca many years ago and remembered enjoying seafood in a certain sauce; when I described what I remembered at the reception they found me a restaurant which was exactly what I had hoped for... ,helped me get there.
I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN AND I RECOMMEND GINGERFLOWER!!!!

Warm welcome and general greetings by the staff. Location was good. Parking is right behind the property. Please call before you arrive so they can prepare the parking spot for you. The room that we were given was smaller than we had expected. Breakfast was decent and simple. Please inform if you’re vegetarian. All in all, good hotel. Very nice room very nice finishes and details. All comforts included AC fridge nice shower tv screen wifi.. The hotel has been created out of a typical period shop house so Pls note all bedrooms have windows opening either onto the internal corridors or the internal lightwells.
Ensuite showerrooms slso very nicely designed with marbles and nice fittings..ghe only drawback are the doors to the showeroom : they have a perhaps 20 cm gap at the bottom that doesnt leave much privacy..very good location in the heart of historical city centre. Staff very attentive and friendly.

Overall a nice place for a big group of 10

The apartment was huge with 4 bedrooms and 4 toilets. It was a lovely apartment with comfortable bedding. However, it’s in a separate building from the hotel so we had to walk to the apartment with our luggage though the hotel staff did help. The stairs to the bedrooms are also rather steep so need to be careful going down. Breakfast was not fantastic but reasonable. Again, we had to walk to another location for breakfast. On the first night, one of the heaters was spoilt but fortunately the hotel staff managed to fix it the next day. Parking is really a problem though as there’s really limited lots.

Overall an enjoyable stay!

We had an excellent stay at Gingerflower Boutique Hotel over the week. Location was strategic, just a stone throw away from Jonker Street. Hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. We took the Premier room all the way at the end with a balcony that we step out to enjoy the cool breeze at night. However, the music with the passing by tricycles were loud (but not within the hotel's control). Overall an enjoyable stay!

Very small clean rooms, no real windows, opens to inside only. Location in the heart of Melaka at Jonker walk but quiet. Easy taxi ride from Sentral bus station. Breakfast was really only toast, 2 spoonfuls of noodles or rice left from day before at the buffet set up on front desk. Staff pleasant but not very helpful. Hot water enough for half of a shower. Ginger Flower Boutique - Perfect

Lovely happy and welcoming environment. Balcony room gave us a chance to relax outside and admire the evening activities. Bit tight for a queen's size bed to fit in terms of accessing side of bed but understood as it is a very old hotel (before larger beds). Unfortunately Melaka itself has allowed illuminated rickshaws throughout the day and night with extremely over the top booming sounds - interferes with anyone wanting to go to bed before 10.00pm. Lovely 'valet' service (surprise).

Prepared for PTD (Post-Travel Depression)!

My group of 7 longed to experience in pre-war heirlooms all to ourselves. And to chance across this Urban townhouse place is wildly amazed. The place is ideally located behind the tourists' Jonker street so you can savour the sound, sight and smell. If we want to venture further, we use Grab car; come within 5 minutes - almost like your chauffeur. One of the night was raining, we stayed in and just catch up in the living room.

The house has a huge living room, kitchen on the first floor. 4 rooms with queen/king size beds and 3 toilets on the second floor and attic. (One room is a split unit with toilet on level 2 and 2 beds at the attic - ideally for a family of 4).
After our stay, we all have this PTD (Post-Travel Depression). We want to go back again.

Great hotel closed to Jonker Walk. Hotel is really nice and the room is clean, nicely decorated and especially the bathroom with the rainfall shower. There is plenty of hot water. The front desk staff is very helpful and nice especially Hasan who was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend the hotel especially booked the room towards the back with the balcony. The balcony overlook the Malacca River. Will definitely stay there again.

Socket not working, kettle kept boiling (jump switch not working).
1st day, one of the pillow case was dirty. 2nd day we notice one of the pillow case was not change.
Didn't fully replace all the toiletries for 2nd day. Eg.one towel and one bathrobe for twin sharing.
Different rooms have different TV channels.
Didn't provide extra dishwear during breakfast time.

Great location just mins walk away from Jonker Street. Limited Parking though for those driving. upgraded to a room with window expecting to see the streets but nope the window opens to the coridoor so dont bother booking a room with window unless you want others to look straight into the room. Water heater temperature was fluctuating making it the only uncomfortable thing.

Pros:
The room was tidy and the location is good right on the jonker street area and next to river.

Cons:
Very small rooms. There is only one small table so very little space to keep your stuff.
There is no wifi in rooms which was quite disappointing as we had left many cheaper hotels for this reason.
On the whole, the hotel was very minimal in terms of amenities and not really value for money. Will recommend staying here only if one gets a great price.

Initially booked online from hotels.com. upon arrival hotel staff informed me that air con is not working so we are shifting you to our nearby hotel i.e heren heritage ...that was about 4 min walking from original hotel. After that we saw that toilet and bathroom were on lower section of the room and bed on top. It was not confortable to clime up and down justfor loo....very much disappointed. Next day breakfast was also not of good varity. Found very costly to pay 178 rm for one night with this discomfort.

A great hotel for a great place to visit

On arrival was upgraded to a larger room at the Heeren Palm Suites, a sister hotel in the same street as the Gingerflower. The room was excellent, with a large bathroom, a small balcony and lots of charm. Like the Gingerflower the Heeren Palm Suites is a beautifully restored shophouse in what was millionnaires row. The public areas of the hotel are to the same high standards as the rooms and very spacious for a small hotel. A delicious breakfast was served each morning by the fiendly staff who on my birthday presented me with a cake and sang 'Happy Birthday'.
Outside the hotel, Malacca is a great place to visit for anyone with an interest in history. There are lots of museums, some of which are very similar, but it is the preserved town centre that is the real gem, a living museum. A great place to drop in for tea is the Cheng Ho Tea House, two streets over, and don't miss the Jonker Walk market on the weekend evenings. Take time to explore the junk and antique shops.
I hope to return one day.

A Great Hotel that you should not missed!

The Hotel Location is excellent, easy accessible to all tourism spot. Hotel Breakfast is simple but good taste. Most important is, they have their own private car park. The Hotel Staff are friendly & helpful. Special Thanks to one of the hotel Stuff, Nick who has provided excellent service to us during our stay, thumbs up!!! Will definitely return again!!
