Nice, clean room with a cosy ambience. Staff were friendly and welcoming! Beautiful Peranakan-style hotel within walking distance to the buzzing Jonker Street.

Although the aircon in my room is “roaring” at times, it doesn’t bother me at all and I slept through the night.

I am sorry to give this rating, but in my opinion the hotel does not meet a 3-star standard overall. Please don’t get me wrong—the hotel itself is charming, and I appreciate the antique furniture and decorations that come with an older building. However, the cleanliness was below expectation. The bathroom items appeared worn and not well maintained, there was thick dust on the light fixtures, and the slippery mat was yellowed and unhygienic.

I sincerely hope the management will consider upgrading the facilities, especially by replacing old bathroom mats and carrying out a more thorough cleaning, to better match the hotel’s potential.

This charming hotel in the heart of Chinatown launches you back in history with its period furniture and ambience. Its location is close to the Jonker Street Night Market on the weekends and is within walking distance of many of the major tourist attractions and areas. If you arrive on the weekend, you may need to take a taxi with a driver who knows how to avoid the road closures; Grab would not accept rides. The breakfast buffet is ample with a mix of Asian and Western options. We opted to use the spa, which was a relaxing and pleasurable experience. The facilities are well kept, combining modern and historic. They could improve their commitment to environmental sustainability, such as offering water dispensers and refillable toiletry dispensers instead of using plastic bottles. The hotel did receive a bus load of mainland Chinese tourists, who were quite loud in the hallways and breakfast area. Although this is not the fault of the hotel staff, if they could have emphasized speaking softly and minimizing the noise level for the courtesy of all guests, it may have helped.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful. I wasn't going to book it as I don't stay in 3 star hotels but glad I did - as the hotel is fantastic. The level of customer service was noticeably excellent. Easily a higher 4 star hotel.

There's a lot of history about this hotel and it's owner. I recommend taking the time to research it.

100% recommended to stay here during your trip to Melaka.

The hotel is a converted \"shop house\" (actually a mansion) filled with period furniture and artifacts.
I had expected a \"simple\" breakfast but the choice was good.
Room a bit spartan and there is no lift except to the most expensive rooms. So if you are not good on stairs or have heavy luggage, ask for a ground floor room.

This has been our go-to hotel for Malacca. We like the location near Jonkers and the room quality has been reasonably consistent over the years and pricing is ok. Breakfast quality is basic. The coffee was somewhat weak.

Clean and comfort rooms with everything you need. (The laundry service was wonderful).
The only thing to note is that the ground floor room we had looked out onto a walkway and so we didn’t open our shutters for privacy reasons. I’d stay here again and would recommend this hotel but ask for an upstairs room.

Could be really good hotel

The hotel is in a beautiful old building with old-world charm and a garden. It could be a really good hotel.
However, it needs renovation work and a good cleaning.
Our room was very small; there was no place for clothes except for couple of hangers; the bathroom lacked shelves; the air-con had a suffocating smell of dirt and humidity.
On the positive side, the bed linen and the towels were very clean and the bed was comfortable.
It is pity that for such a beautiful place is not taken a good care.

Very beautiful lobby, feel so relaxed upon entering. Lovely courtyard too. Service is good and staff are very accommodating towards requests.

Stayed here with my daughter. The hotel has an aura of olde worlde grandeur. It is very peaceful inside with the Chinese influence evident in all the furnishings and decor. The courtyard garden is a calm oasis. Our room was quite shady during the day but that is welcome as it is so hot outside in Malacca. It is situated one street back from where the night market is and was only a short walk. Perfectly situated.

Great location in Jonker Street area. It’s a good experience living in a Chinese shophouse with many antiques. We have stayed here twice, once 10 over years ago. It has kept its old charm. Standards varies in sizes, it’s small but you get two comfortable beds and a clean toilets. Windows are locked.

Nice hotel & great facade. Hotel's 1st floor decor was great. Staff & service level was great. Breakfast service & menu was good.
However, lack of attention to detail. Floors were not well connected, there were many steps to navigate to get to our room. Room toilet was left running & unable to flush. A/C remote was difficult to use, there is no off button. Corridors were hot as these were open; worst when corridors windows were closed in the evening. Acoustics was bad with doors heard being closed & when people were walking through the corridors. Housekeeping had their radios on loud which worsen the noise level. We have breakfast in a side room; found the chairs & tables not clean; lots of dust. Overall a great hotel which is affected by attention to detail.

My Melaka home

Whenever in Melaka i try to stay here in this beautifully decorated hotel. Parking was full on one of our days and the hotel paid for our parking in near by lot. Nice breakfast with good variety. All staff are friendly and service oriented. Love this hotel and highly recommend it.

It was a great hotel with a lot of history and culture. The decor was spot on in line with the Peranakan style. Breakfast in the courtyard was simple and limited.Just that our room was a little small but lucky we had a window. Hotel rate was very reasonable and the location was smack in Jonker street which is very convenient. We discovered alot of hidden gems ie restaurants and cafes ie. Mamasitas and some relaxing massage parlours. Will definitely recommend Hotel Puri. Cheers

Overall was okey the stay with puri hotel. But, one of the room (twin room) i booked is not well maintained. First, the room air conditioning was poor. Changed to another room but the room shower was problematic. the water was too small to bath. Fortunately hotel side manage to rectify it.

Beautiful hotel in heritage Melaka

Puri Melaka is in a beautiful heritage building with many lovely places to sit and admire the antiques, plants and water feature as well as the building itself. Our room was quite comfortable with enough lighting, storage space, and lovely linens on the beds. Plenty of hot water and strong air conditioning added to the comfort.

Breakfast came with our room and was good. The hotel is is an excellent location to sights, dining and shopping in the heritage section of Melaka.

Parking issue

Location was great as it was just at jonker street. Hotel is nicely decorated. I feel that they need to improve abit on the room condition and also on the parking lots for guest. We did not have a parking lot in the hotel and was asked to park else where which is very inconvenience to us.

This is not your regular hotel that you are used to. The building is a repurposed Peranakan heritage building. If you want to experience what its like to stay in a peranakan home or at least pretend to, this hotel and similar ones in the area are a must try. With heritage buildings, the occasional creaky floor boards are expected and added to the charm of the place.

Is our 4th visit to Puri, lift breakdowns and family of 4 of us have to carry heavy suitcases up to level 3. We are not sure why hotel assigned 2 x std rooms at the end of level 3 last 2 rooms, where we dun see the hotel was fully occupied during our check-in & out.

As morning did not see much quests taking up breakfast, I guess these 2 level 3 end corner rooms were reserve for Expedia sales at low price offer.

This is my 2nd stay and I've even recommended this to a colleague with positive review. However, I won't be returning. I've booked 3 rooms this time round with the room I'm staying being the problematic. The bathroom smells of cockroach with its droppings on the floor. To my surprised, there's an adult cockroach there. Overall the room is just basic and clean enough beside this. Due to its strategic location, there's nothing much to give credit. Do note the kitchen is closed, so there's basically nothing much this hotel can offer but cheap night accommodation in a good location.

The lobby and main floor areas were amazing. The room itself was a bit tired/needed a bit of paint, etc., but otherwise nice ( I definitely wouldn’t call it a “superior “ room though). The corridors, however, were in dire need of new carpet, paint. Very disconcerting when you step out of the elevator to see the condition of the corridors. Breakfast was quite blasé. Coffee was horrible. Front desk staff, except the trainee, were not overly friendly.

Lovely public spaces. Beautiful old Dutch/peranaken property.
Room not clean in parts. Laminate flooring past it’s best. Lovely big comfy bed. Fridge in room with bottled water. Basic white tiled shower room but no complaints.
Breakfast ok. Nothing special. They ran out of yoghurt very early. Eggs, cereal, breads, Malaysian hot food etc.
Excellent location for all the historical and religious sites. Just a short stroll from everywhere.
I had a very cheap deal so I was happy overall except for the lack of cleanliness.
