My husband and I needed a weekend away. The staff were very friendly, and helpful. We choose a king size room with jacuzzi. It wasnt inside the hotel, so if we wanted to use the pool or hot tub, we had to walk outside to get into the hotel. Not a big deal, but would have been a \"good to know\" type of thing in the description. The jacuzzi was nice, but didn't hold the water well, so while we were relaxing, you heard the water slowly draining out of the tub. We put plastic and a washcloth over the drain to help quiet the noise. Then it wouldnt drain unless I was holding down the drain lever. These issues were not horrible and I didnt put in a complaint because I was just glad to be away. The room was nice, I didn't hear neighbors, and the breakfast was okay. Glad to have a meal and not have to spend more money. Overall the hotel was nice and affordable.

The rooms were not bad for the price. The bathrooms were pretty clean, and the beds didn’t have anything that stood out as needing attention. This review is specifically for the hotel side, not the motel side. Overall, it worked well for our two-day bowling tournament stay.
The staff was alright, which is probably the only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. Nothing negative happened during our stay personally, but I did notice they seemed a little rough with other groups who were just asking simple questions or having a fun time.
Overall, it was a solid stay for the price.

The staff was okay. I had a hard time with the Netflix option on the tv, I called the front desk and the lady told me she couldn’t help me. The room was actually pretty nice for the price and we enjoyed the hot tub in the room. The room next to us had crying kids so it was hard to sleep even with the fan on. Over all it was just an okay stay. Nothing huge to complain about but just a few smaller things. The room was pretty clean over all we enjoyed ourselves. I wouldn’t be against trying to give it a second try in the future.

Check in agent tried to get us 2 adjoining rooms. After getting us 2 courtyard view rooms ( actually it was a view of a cement wall ) She realized one of the rooms was OUT OF ORDER !! So instead , I took a handicap room which was next door. That would have been ok had we had a hallway to walk through. However, our rooms had no hallway. We entered our rooms from outside !! As for the OUT OF ORDER ROOM…. My daughter and her husband heard loud voices from that room all night !!!!
We will look at other options for our next stay in Grand Haven. It I wanted an outdoor entrance, I would have stayed at MOTEL 6

Staff was pleasant as far as the room… when I booked I had some special requirements that were not completed one request was for a complete new clean bedding set sheets blankets etc that was not available for 2 hours after my arrival! So that prolonged my comfort the room was very dusty which triggered my allergies to the extreme so not only was I not comfortable I was in agony itchy watery eyes sneezing etc. the jacuzzi constantly drained even when I had it plugged I was not offered anything to compensate for my unconvince! This hotel used to be the only one I would visit but will possibly be exploring other options after this stay!

I was expecting a hotel, not a motel room. I was happy with the room, it was sufficient for what i needed. Not the most comfortable bed.
The shower curtain was dirty, so they obviously do not change those out between people staying there. Had to contact front desk for hand soap for the sink, went to pick it up.
The pool was nice. Clean area and actually had a warm pool. I do not use the hot tub, but it was quite busy when i was in the pool.
The location was good.

The door to the room could literally be snatched open, there was a stinch in the room and I don't know if they were painting hot tub and forgot to smooth it out, but there was a couple blobs of paint left in bottom of hot tub. The guy who checked me in wasn't so pleasant. Will not be going back.

This place is old and dirty. I made sure my bare feet never touched the floor. The inside of the door was grimy. This should have been noticeable to the cleaning staff, which makes me wonder what else had not been cleaned. There was a considerable amount of dog hair on the table between the beds.

The best thing I have to say about this hotel is although it seems old and outdated it was clean. We were put in a side building unattached from the hotel so use of the pool and hot tub were inconvenient.

The biggest issue I had was with the service. I checked in request connected rooms. I was told there are no connecting rooms but he would put us next to each other. I checked in about 5:15 (check in starts at 4). We went to dinner and came back to realize our rooms were 509 and 610 but on the opposite side of the building of each other. When I inquired and asked for a room change or solution no apology was given. I was told I should have checked in earlier and said that we have kids. Which I had been told our rooms were next to each other and he had asked if we had kids I said yes. He proceeded to tell me no he knows his words he didn’t say that.

A simple apology and we are booked up at the very least would have been nice. And if he said I requested no such things why would we have rooms 609-610 in numerical order? Obviously he made a mistake not knowing 610 is on the other side of the building.

Very poor customer service and not only to myself but I witnessed it of other guests. This may be an employee issue but also the inconvenience of being in a separate building makes my choice to never stay here again. There should be apologies or resolutions to valid guest complaints.

The hotel was very clean. nice staff. The “annex” seemed to be a renovated old motel with doors on the outside. Our room was very clean but the walls are thin and I could hear the guy next door pee. AC was a bit noisy when it kicked on. Overall I felt safe. Breakfast was the standard fare.

We had a medical issue (complete reverse shoulder replacement) that required I keep ice stocked for my husband throughout the night. I had no idea that the rate we booked was for a room with an outside entrance, which would require that I walk outside, by myself throughout the night, to an adjacent building to get ice. I expressed my concern over this, and was told \"really.. .. this is Grand Haven\". There were exactly 8 cars parked in the lots in front of the 3 buildings.

Employee refused to \"upgrade\" us to a room where I'd have interior access to an ice machine, unless I paid $20 additional. Her comment \"I can't just give away money - my manager would never allow this.\" Meanwhile, I discovered the next morning when I checked out that she WAS the mgr. I had not prepayed through a travel site - so she could have very easily made the room change for us. She most definitely had the authority.

Other \"accouterments\": Wall outlet for lamp and coffee maker, at the desk, had no power, and the refrigerator froze the fruit I had brought along for my husband.

We live 3 hours away, which is why we needed to come in the night before for my husband's appointment, and will also have 2 or 3 more trips to Grand Haven. We definitely won't be staying here.

One positive - Megan, who was at the desk the next AM, was exceptionally nice and apologized for the treatment we had received. She also knew that the mgr had cost the property 2 or 3 additional revenue nights.

The beds are great and it’s very clean. The moisture in the room is awful. Our room was ground level and the carpeted floor was wet with moisture. We did not take our shoes off unless getting in bed. Stay on a 2nd floor or above. Breakfast was not appetizing with rubber eggs so we left.

When we first got to the hotel they put us in a room that reeked like mold. I walked back to the front and stated we needed a new room. The second room was much better but they stated that the last room smelled like that because the do not use it during the winter. We were there for 4 days and nobody came to clean the room not even once. Our neighbors were putting garbage outside their room because they were having the same issues.

I was disappointed to be accommodated in a room behind the hotel that looks more like a motel than the Best Western l paid for. The picture is misleading you. When you book it you have to read the fine print and ask for an interior room otherwise they will put you in these motel rooms they have behind the hotel.The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was not very clean. I found a used plastic fork behind the nightstand while trying to locate an outlet. The room needs updates for additional outlets. There was a limited number next to the bed, making it difficult to charge a phone and plug in a CPAP. The carpet was dirty and stained. The paint in the bathroom was peeling. The showerhead was gross and needed serious attention to clean all the build up off. I do not recommend this place.

This is the second year I was assigned an exterior room at this location. I specifically selected interior as last year my experience was poor. The rooms in this detached portion of the property are dirty, damp, smelly and the bathroom popcorn ceilings are flaking off on the floors of both rooms I rented. Will not stay at this location again if they cannot honor the interior room I booked.
