The people are wonderful. The building is lovely. One rainy night we stayed in and they made charcuterie and we had wine. Breakfast was elegant and tasty, tried my first haggis…Tons of great advice on where to go. Can’t say enough about Toravaig.

Great potential, but rather average stay

Staff were friendly and kind, and while the estate was pretty, we weren't big fans of the room. We had high expectations for this room, having paid what to us was a decent amount (£300). While we were prepared for the cozy (small) room, we were not prepared for the bin view out of the only window. It left a rather poor taste and given that the room was warm, we had to crank the windows open but was concurrently worried about flies and smells. They also provided a throw and extra cushions which looks pretty but given the warm weather, was more of a hindrance as there was no place to put them in the cozy room. A fan would have been much better as the room was really warm, and we are from South East Asia and used to the heat. Overall didn't feel like it was a great value of money. In our opinion, the sense of lower value similarly extends to the sister restaurant, which felt under staffed, unpolished service and small portions of food. Food tasted OK, but not worth the amount.

This property is more like an expensive B&B with limited services than a hotel. Restaurant was limited to breakfast. Dinner was only available at a nearby sister property with transportation. It is rather isolated from area attractions but was convenient for the ferry. The level of service was inconsistent. with an excellent staff member working the desk in the afternoon and evening.

Too small, no AC, not as clean as it should be (coffee maker coated with a layer of dust, so disgusting that we decided not to have coffee) very noisy - lots of noise pollution - woken up multiple times throughout the night by guests and noisy dryer vent noise. Road traffic went on till late. Had to leave window opened cos room was warm and stuffy.

Property is nice and well kept and has great views of the bay.

Note that there is limited dining on site; guests can get a free shuttle to the sister hotel which has a full restaurant and bar, which is unfortunately extremely expensive. We were not told that the shuttle service ends at 10PM, and received a call to the restaurant at ~9:45PM from Torvaig to ask when we would be returning. When we returned to Torvaig at ~10:15PM, the door was locked immediately behind us and we heard the staff member drive off the grounds as we stepped into our room without any word to us. It is not egregious that staff wanted to go home early on a slow night, but the service at this price point should be better - the staff should've asked how dinner was and asked if there was anything we needed before they left. Indeed, I'd returned downstairs 5 minutes later for an extra bottle of water to find it empty and locked up.

Another woman (hotel manager I think?) was pleasant, professional and polite the next morning on check out when we briefly explained some of the above.

One or two more front of house staff members would help offset the amenities weaknesses that the hotel has given that it has no on site dining and no bar. The few offers they do have should be executed flawlessly.

The stay was overall enjoyable, but at this price the level of service should be stronger. I'd recommend guests find arrangements for dinner/drinks that aren't Torvaig or its sister hotel.

Amazing stay

The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the pillows were as well. The bathroom was exactly as pictured with the rainfall showerhead and the big bath tub. It was sooo nice to have a bath after hiking all day. Service was prefect, friendly and attentive. We had dinner at the sister restaurant just down the road, i had the chicken he had the lamb and both were so tender... wonderful meals. Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back.

All my review is pertaining the Duisdale hotel which is the sister hotel of Toravaig, as due to their unplanned maintainence we were shifted to Duisdale.
The 2 night stay was great and memorable, all staff was helpfull and kind. Special mention goes to Ashnita where she checked us in and was very helpful. Being a hotelier myself i rate her checkin experience was fantastic and further she was present during our breakfast in restaurant as well where again she was fantastic. She is an asset to your hotel and i wish her best for future.
Overall the hotel features best and i would surely come back and recommend to others. Thank you !

The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Coffee, tea, and sweet snacks were provided. The desk clerk was very friendly. Dinner at Duisdale was scrumptious. Our only issue was that nobody told us we needed to leave our room key at the desk whenever we left, which resulted in our room not being cleaned, towels replaced, etc. Just be aware of that issue. Otherwise we were very happy with our stay at Toravaig.

First, We were well received by our hostess, Silke, truly an amazing time. We were treated like it was our home and just returned from months away at sea. Our Room was such a relaxing place. Wonderful tub to just relax after our long drive and walks. We had dinner at their sister hotel and that was just another gem! The service, food and our chauffeur (provided) by the hotel was all surreal. After our well rest sleep, we had our breakfast to order, just yummy. All in all, we couldn’t have ask or had anything better. Top notch to entire team.

This hotel was very quaint. The room was lovely and the staff was very accommodating. I had dinner reservations down the road and even though I had a car, they provide you with a shuttle service to get to and from the restaurant. I would definitely stay here again.

We were only told 5 days before our stay that we are put into a sister hotel called Duisdale House Hotel as they’ve decided to close this one for maintenance. The room was extremely small (we were told we got an upgrade for the transfer. Imagine how small it could even be if no upgrade..) There’s black mould on the bathroom ceiling. Mattress was terribly soft and with no support at all. I weight 52kg and sink into the mattress.. All in all, it’s absolutely a disappointment if you thought that’s a 4-star hotel.

You never know what you are going to get with smaller hotel/lodges - this place was a gem.
From the welcoming greeting on arrival through every encounter the staff were amazing.
Breakfast was freshly prepared and up there with the best I've ever had in a hotel.
We went to the Sister Hotel Druisdale for dinner - a dining experience - welcomed into the lounge with a drink and canapes to choose from the extensive menu, shown in to our table once the meal was ready, the food was amazing, the service was excellent.
I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Disappointing, overpriced stay

We had planned on staying two nights but due to a change in plans thankfully only stayed for one night. We booked the last remaining room which is descibed as a petite double. The room is very small and the shower room tiny. The room backs onto the staff service area which is gravelled and used by vehicles late at night and early morning. Because the room felt poorly ventilated we slept with the window open but the noise from the gravel prevented a good nights sleep. Coupled with a squeaking ensuite door neither of us got a restful sleep in the small bed.
On a positive note the staff were friendly and polite and the breakfast was good.
A very disappointing stay and totally overpiced compared with other hotels on our trip.l

More of a run down B&B with some pretty horrendous interior design. £4 for a Latte on a £230 B&B is shocking - some really odd choices (I.e. trying to send customers down the road to the sister hotel which was, from overhearing other guests, not fantastic).

I would not stay here again, and would advise potential travellers to stay at one of the other B&Bs instead.

Only a table d'hote menu available in the hotel but there is an excellent hotel 6 minutes drive away with a very good al a carte menu, The Eilean Larmain.

We were moved to a sister hotel (Duisdale House) and upgraded to a sea view as there was a problem with the heating in the Toravaig hotel. The room was very nice and the staff were all very friendly & helpful. The food was also lovely. I would strongly recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a place that is easy to get to (it’s close to the Skye bridge) and is ideal to explore the rest of the island

This was a pleasant surprise. Felt luxurious and the toiletries and bathroom, after a long hard day of hiking and driving made me feel like I just finished a spa treatment. 早朝に出掛ける人にはお薦めできません。私達はホテルの朝食が始まる時間帯より前に出発しなければいけなかったので、前日にそれを伝えたところ、親切にもサンドイッチを早朝に作り置きしていただけると、オファーをいただきました。しかしながら翌朝チェックアウトとサンドイッチの受取りのためにフロントに伺うも、誰もおらず、窓口も閉まっており、玄関も１階のどの共用部分も真っ暗で、大変困惑しました。真っ暗なフロントのカウンターには、用事がある人はここに電話するようにと置き手紙が。電話をかけるも誰も出ず。しかしその日の正午にはエディンバラに到着していなければ行けなかったので、移動中にホテルへEメールを送信。支払って食べられなかった朝食分はもちろん返金してもらいましたが、私達はこのホテルのサービスのせいで、スカイ島の最終日を残念な気持ちで過ごしました。

The food, presentation, attentiveness at dinner were spectacular. There is a castle ruin a short walk from the hotel by the beach, on the way, there is an up and coming distillery. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly. I would definitely come back for the dinner.

This hotel is easy to get to when coming off the ferry at Malaig. It is also right beside a new distillery that's open for tours.

The room we stayed in was lovely and is the one shown on their brochure. The only real downside to the room was the mattress. It is quite low and if they put another mattress on top, it would be the right height and more comfortable to sleep on.

The food was outstanding. Breakfast and dinner was made from an award winning chef.

The staff are amazing. Sarah helped to check us in, show us to our room, offer us to come down to the sitting room to enjoy the coal lit fire for a cup of tea or a drink from the bar. She also gave us some suggestions of where to tour around Skye the following day.

We were greeted by Neil the following morning. He was exceptionally hospitable, friendly and quite funny. He reviewed the comments we received from Sarah of where to travel on the island and concurred with her comments and offered a few more. He wanted to ensure we got the most of our visit and enjoyed all that Skye had to offer to see. We were not disappointed with either of their recommendations.

Thank you for making our stay in skye really welcoming! From your Canadian friends... one of whom is “allergic” to brussels sprouts!

Lovely hotel. Great decor and delicious breakfast. Dinner Menu is very complex and bespoke so preferring very simple food we ate out. We were called at 10.45PM by the Hotel asking when we would be back ! We had not expected this. Therefore do make sure you ask for a front door access key if you are going out for the evening. Otherwise a good Hotel.

The Hotel is quite small so all rooms reflect this. It is nice in a small way. The food & Service at Dinner was outstanding. The rooms are quite small and i had opted for one other than the petit double! This must be tiny. The price is over what one would expect normally but it is reflective in the fact that you are a captive audience. The professional finish to the bathroom was quite lack lustre. But even still regardless of this and the price we had a great stay and service was excellent.

Tasteful Toravaig

Lovely short stay. Rosemary a lovely person on reception.
It is pricey but worth it.
We ate in the dining room at night. Michelin star quality! Fantastic!

Tastefully Decorated Small Hotel

This hotel is a converted house so the rooms are small and the bathrooms are minute (anyone over 6ft will struggle to sit down on the toilet!). That said it is furnished to a very high standard. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff were excellent, I cannot praise them highly enough.

Lochside beauty & a quality stay!

Our stay with Toravaig House was outstanding. Loved the small house. Brand new renovation & amazing service. Rose Marie & Alistair made us feel right at home and catered to our every need. The food is top-notch as well! The owners even do a sailing excursion (at an extra cost) for all guests. WiFi is good but only in the downstairs lobby.

We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit to Skye.

Room abit small for more than a nights stay.
You had to keep moving chair to access wardrobe as nowhere else to put it.
