We didn't really know what expect and it turned out be a very pleasant surprise. The hotel is compact yet there is plenty of room in the fire heated large and small sitting rooms. There's a wee conservatory as well with lovely views. The breakfast room was ample fir the guests. Restaurant was closed for winter but the Àn Praban bar served lovely food, emphasis on seafood/fish/ and local beef etc., with specials roughly every couple of days.
Drinks selection was great with a large selection of beers. There is a concentration of local spirits and other liquers in the shop which are made on site. All that we tried was delicious. There's also an interesting and varied wine selection.

The staff, many of whom are local, with some Gaelic speakers amongst them were simply excellent. They were lovely people, happy, welcoming, pleasant and very helpful from initial reception to setting the setting the fires, through to the bar and serving food.

We have not stayed in a hotel like before. We even extended our stay a couple of nights.

The positive aspects of this review is a genuine opinikn of our stay at Eilean Iarnain.

We shall be returning.

This is a really nice hotel, obviously aided by the beautiful location.
The food in the evening and at breakfast is of a good quality, with many locally sourced choices on the menu. The mussels were awesome.

Staff were all great, very approachable and welcoming.

The only thing which detracted from the quality of the hotel was the damp in my room (14) which meant that the curtains were mouldy - which is obviously a bit off-putting.

The bar, the breakfast and the room were all nostalgic, clean and comfortable. The meals we had there were delightful and homey. Not to mention how delightful the staff were! I definitely recommend, wish we could have stayed long and can't wait to visit again!

its really a terrible experence to order this hotel.

we book two twin bed rooms for two families, after arrival we realize accorind to the hotel, only two person are allowed to stay in the room, even kids less than 12 is the same.

Then we discussed with the reception to accomodate addtional one 9-year-old kid, the answer is no; or we add money to add bed, the answer is no etc. its 10pm at night, and in the island we could not find any hotel room available.

We were a bit confused when arriving about where to check in and went to the bar. The nice gentleman in the bar helped us find our way. Staying here was a wonderful experience and a lovely part of our vacation. We hope to stay there again.

We absolutely loved staying at Eilean Iarmain. The property is gorgeous with truly the most beautiful views. It is peaceful and away from distractions, one can just come and stay here without going anywhere else and still feel the beauty of the Isle of Skye. The area has wonderful restaurants but our favorite meals were here so I would suggest just having your dinners here after a long day of driving about the Isle. There is the coziest of pubs here with the same great food and drinks- it's very popular so get there earlier than later. the boutiques next door were also beautiful and we bought some beautiful Scottish coat and scarfs here. We had a family suite ( upstairs and down) and the views from every window was gorgeous! last ut not least, the service was so wonderful, everyone we met was so nice. I dream about this place and hope to return some day.

I am so glad we found this place. It was exactly as portrayed: an historic (and idiosyncratic) small inn/hotel; not fancy, very straightforward; on the water in a wonderful location; a great kitchen punching way above its weight. We arrived very late - our room types were standard double, but we clearly had the ones no one else wanted. I will preface that the location was amazing, the staff great with their communication and the beds comfortable. But it was old, the carpet was dirty and the bathroom was tiny. It was not worth the money for a room of the standard we given. The breakfast was ok, the bacon burned and the coffee machine wasn’t on, I was told they couldn’t flick the switch and turn it on. If it wasn’t over $300 a night - then this would be something to overlook. But at over $300, they need to step it up a little.

From the arrival, staff was really friendly and attentive, giving all information about the facilities. The room with private bathroom was quite nice, clean and amazingly quiet, which impressed us most. Really nice to rest and wind down.
Breakfast was nice, the pub excellent, really nice to interact with others. External tables and seats for enjoying the sun and the bay also brought a nice sense of nature in the surroundings.

The staff at Eileen Iarmain went out of their way to be helpful and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. The rooms are somewhat small but have everything you need. We stayed during a heat wave and the only thing we had to ask for was a fan. Other than that, the staff really went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

This is a wonderful hotel and was a highlight of our trip to Scotland. The hotel is lovely and so welcoming. The staff are over and above and we had fun chatting with them whether in the pub, restaurant or front office. We had a couple of early starts so missed the breakfast timing so instead they made us a great picnic lunch to take on our days out exploring. Dinner was fabulous. Our room had an incredible view and lots of space to enjoy a couple of days. Thoroughly recommend this wonderful hotel.

We had an amazing experience at Eilean Iarmain. My daughter and I were only there for one night as a place to sleep and shower before checking out the Isle of Skye. We arrived ten minutes before the kitchen closed, and they offered to make us something to eat before the chef left for the night. The hotel and room itself were beautiful and clean. The views from the hotel were amazing. In a world where customer service is a thing of the past, the employees at Eilean Iarmain were exceptional. They were very concerned with our comfort and making sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend staying here, and will do exactly that on my next visit to Skye!

We enjoyed a wee whisky tasting of their own whisky’s and got to play a little music in the pub for the staff after work. Very lovely experience! Close to Armidale castle and museum - very good museum to learn some history of area and people. Would love to go back.

A hidden gem of a hotel

This is a gem of a hotel, tucked away off the main road overlooking a small harbour and next to a small shop selling tweeds etc, a gin distillery and a building used as an art gallery. All very traditional styled buildings and very tranquil. Very friendly staff, spotless room with a very comfortable bed, a complimentary sample bottle of their gin or whisky…they have their own too…was very welcome.
Comfortable lounge with a warm traditional feel yet bright and airy. Alongside and part of the hotel is a lovely traditional bar, great selection of whiskies and good food.
Food at the hotel is very seafood based, all locally sourced and very fresh. A big bonus to the hotel stay. Breakfast is equally good with a selection of dishes. Definitely a hotel to come back to.

The check in was extremely smooth. You were given a miniature of their own whisky at check in which was a very nice touch. The rooms were well maintained. The service, in the hotel, bar and dining rooms was efficient and friendly.

The food was very tasty and well presented (and very good sized portions}. It was maybe slightly dearer than you would expect for bar food, but the quality/quantity made up for that,

There were open fires in both the bar and the residents' lounge which made them very appealing and comfortable.

The bar had a good selection of beers (including Skye Gold on tap) as well as a large number of spirits, including their own whiskies and gins.

The only strange thing was there were no televisions in the hotel (either the bedrooms or the residents' lounge), whilst watching television while on holiday is not high on the list of priorities in a place like Skye the weather forecast can be important. However the wifi coverage was very good throughout the hotel/bar and therefore it was easy to keep up to date with potential weather changes.

All in all a very good place to stay.

A charming welcoming cosy hotel. We had a beautiful room with all the lovely touches you would wish to see including shortbread. We had a beautiful evening meal, I had salmon with fresh vegetables and Maria had Fish a Chips, the fish the size of a whale.
A beautiful breakfast next morning Porridge followed by a full Scottish consisting of Potato scones and haggis pudding. A lovely touch from the staff, Maria asked for a banana with her porridge, the lovely lady serving us popped along to get one from her home, as they did not have one on site.
An example of the extra lengths they go to here to accommodate your every need.
The accommodation is situated at the tip of a beautiful peninsula with breathtaking views across the Isle of Skye.

Dissapointed though with the fact that even though we booked a suite, there was no heating on when we arrived. Rooms extremely cold and took hours to warm with the storage heaters. No instructions as to how to put these on.
Mentioned to staff but didn't seem that bothered.

our only complaint was that for £200.00 per night we had a tiny room with no space at all and a tiny bathroom. This part did not feel like value for money. however in a better room would definitely stay again.

Stayed a couple of nights. Ate dinners in the restaurant and had beer at the pub. The host Martin was excellent as was the cat, Bob! Room was cozy and comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure unlike so many others we have stayed in. Oh, the views - from the hotel, across the island, pretty much everywhere we went. Just amazing. For June, we wish we had brought waterproof boots to go to the fairy pools, still good, though. The Fairy Glen was amazing.

Great location, Great Food, Disappointing Room!

The two best things about Eilean Larmain is their location and food.

We booked a”Suite” at about $340/night. The Suite we received had an unobstructed view of the Loch. But it consisted of a very small main room with a very small bathroom. The Bedroom was upstairs. And the bed had to be situated, because of the room size, with NO view of the water. The furniture was also substandard for the price. If you book a Suite there, make sure it is not rooms 21-23.

As I said above, the location is superb. Additionally, the food was surprisingly good. Actually, I would say excellent. While we booked a table in the dining room, we chose to go to the bar instead. The scene there was much better. It’s where locals go to eat and drink. The Dining Room and the bar have the same menu.
