The place is very high end and clean. However, we encountered a few problems. The building itself is old and has very loud squeals and banging noises from the pipes. When other rooms use their jacuzzi bath…we hear that too. Also conversations from other guests as the walls are thin. One night, the electricity went off completely. One night we were locked out as we shut a set of doors that were not clearly marked to keep open. The staff was nice but did not always communicate with us well or act on our reports in a timely manner. That said, the fixtures and fittings are very nice. Nice to have a kitchenette as well. Bathroom could use some hooks and shelves as there is little room for toiletries, makeup or to hang towels. More pretty, less practical. The restaurant next door is great!

The entire stay was extremely well organized, from the pick up at Fiumicino, to arriving at Luxury on the River, to the cleanliness of the room, available amenities, and the pick up by taxi the next day. Well done!!! Highly recommendable. The location itself is prime. A Carrefour Express is less than ten minutes walking distance. Piazza del Popolo is nearby. Great stuff!!! Will book again if I visit Rome.

Charming old building about a 15 minute walk to the Vatican and Castel of St. Angelo. Room was nice size for Europe accommodations, with a nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. The room had a staircase leading to an upstairs area with extra space for a desk and a big walk in closet, but this was fairly useless for guests only staying a few days (didn't want to lug everything up the stairs and then down again). The property made no communication ahead of our arrival (as most others did) and there seemed to be only one person to greet us when we arrived. She was very nice and accommodating, but within an hour she was gone for the entire weekend, so it felt a bit like guests are just left on their own. We were okay with that, but some people may not feel comfortable with such a skeleton staff. The list of recommended restaurants that the property provided was spotty. One (Ristorante Enzo) was really pretty bad and should not be on the list. Another, located just downstairs and two doors to the right, was excellent and super charming.

This location was perfect, safe, walking distance to The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, The Spanish steps, many restaurants, pretty much everything. We walked all night until midnight. Our room was clean, quiet, the bed was comfortable, and most important, our hotel host Luisa was a sweetheart and very helpful. She arranged our pick up and drop off from the airport and even helped us book our Colosseum tour with pick up from the hotel. I loved this place and would definitely stay here again.

Great location—close enough to walk to everything we wanted to see, but far enough away from the main tourist crowds to feel relaxed. The manager was extremely nice and helpful; we’d give six stars for the service alone.
The only real observation is that parts of the room showed some wear and could use maintenance. For example, the wood (or particle board) around the kitchen faucet was worn and loose, so it was flapping around a bit and the fridge either didn’t close all the way or took a bit to cool items down.
Overall, though, the service and convenient yet peaceful location more than made up for these small issues.

Lucia is great - super friendly, attentive and helpful. The hotel is comfortable, the bed was great. Feels like staying at an apartment in an older historic city building. If you are looking for luxury this is not the place for you but if you want a comfortable and safe place to stay that is in walking distance to major city spots but not right in the tourist area then this is for you. It’s very close to the Vatican City, cute places for breakfast around the hotel. Check out Pops diner. Also close to a bus that takes you right to the center of town and 10 min walk to the metro. We really enjoyed our time.

Loved the Staff. Luisa, and the rest of the staff were great! Helpful in every way. The room was not your common room. Large bed, large closet and large bathroom and shower. High ceilings and large windows. The elevator was fun for a Yank. There is a nice reading/relaxing area off the lobby with comfortable couches.
Downside is, other then taxis, there is no transportation near the hotel. There are a few restaurants in the area. It is Rome so the restaurants are good.

This was a great place to stay. Close to transportation as well as multiple sights in Rome. The hotel’s A/C was great and the room felt modern and was always clean. The luggage drop off after checkout was very much appreciated. The elevator initially looked a little suspicious, but it was reliable. Luisa was also very communicative. If I ever return to Rome I would absolutely consider staying here again.

The junior loft is spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable with a full kitchen. The location is great, which is within walking distance of a lot of attractions. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. We were given a city map, taxi and restaurants information. We will defintely comeback again next time we are in Rome!

I am so pleased we stayed here, it was so convenient for getting around in Rome. Beatrix was a fabulous host with all the information and the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. If I had 1 niggle it would be that I when I saw a picture of a balcony I had hoped we could sit out with a glass of wine after the children had gone to bed and enjoy the view, however the balcony is tiny and too small for chairs with no view (it’s at the bottom of a courtyard), but the owners can’t help that and I could have asked before booking too. Thank you for a wonderful stay x

A hidden gem of a hotel in Rome. Good and safe location, only about a 25 min walk from Vatican City. So many restaurants and shopping locations minutes away by foot. Room was superb, clean and quiet. Very friendly, nice and kind staff. The staff is knowledgeable of the area and will answer any questions you have. Enjoyed my stay at Luxury on the River. I will gladly stay here again. Definitely recommend this place to families, friends and solo travelers.

We enjoyed our stay and the staff were really nice and helpful. The property was good not what i was expecting...my own fault really as i imagined a little accomadation that sat right next too the river but it is in an apartment building across a busy road to the river. Nice to walk next too. I had an apartment which had a seperate bedroom, bathroom and kitchen on second floor. The bed was comfy and we had access to netflix on the tv which was so lovely to watch and relax after a full day of running about around Rome. I do have to say that the jet tub which was the selling point for me was a little bit of a disappointment we put it on and took ages to run the bath deep enough to then sent lots of dead spiders out from the jets so im guessing it hadnt been used for a while. We abandoned use of it. Other than that it felt safe and we were located right in the centre of everything we wanted to see so it all was no more than a 30 minute walk away which didnt even feel like that because there us so much to stop and see on the way. Would stay again.

Terrible customer service
We booked a suite with a jacuzzi tub, full kitchen (purposely requested) and separate bedroom, so we had comforts to enjoy five nights in Rome. We were sadly disappointed at 8:00 am on our first morning, to be awoken by construction, directly above our bedroom. Workers were pounding out old flooring and drilling concrete, for hours. Not only was the noise unbearable, our rooms were vibrating. When we complained (reception were aware construction was ongoing)) we were told they weren’t obligated to tell us and that ‘worse things could happen’. We asked for the manager and were told he wasn’t there. When we returned several hours later, we were told he never replied to messages and the calls went to voicemail. We were told we could move to a small room, which was only a bed and a small bathroom. This room was exactly behind the reception and had a common area outside where any/all guests could meet and sit for coffee, etc. We could hear everything and would be disturbed all day/night when every guest came through and any phone calls, coffees, etc were made. This small room was much less expensive and NO refund or compensation was offered, for us to move. We said we would stay in our suite, so we could at least have quiet evenings. The reception called the ‘foreman’ and asked them to wait until after 10:00 to start drilling; this happened one day only. Every other day, we had hours of drilling. The guesthouse never offered us anything for destroying our holiday. Horrible

This hotel is amazing. The staff is so great and friendly, they helped us with any question or need we had. Staff does only work on site limited hours, however they are available 24 hours if you do need them. The room was so comfortable and clean! The location is right outside the City Center, but you can walk there in minutes, walkable distance to the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and the Vatican. There are many dining options near by.
It is really in the middle of everything, we only had to take a taxi once the entire time we were there. When we go back to Rome, we will stay here again without question. I highly recommend this hotel.
