The front desk staff, Dipesh was very caring and helpful with us. There were a couple of issues with the room that we were initially assigned but Dipesh was able to resolve the problems with the room in a friendly and quick manner. Overall he provide very high quality service.

We had been told that the chef was starting at 6 on Christmas Eve and when we went down we were then told the chef wasn’t starting until 7 and we had to be elsewhere at 7. We were able to get a meal when we returned.
On Christmas Day we were told that there would be sandwiches available in the evening and there wasn’t so we had crisps and peanuts for our meal.

Staff very welcoming, but on checkin we were warned we’d experience noise as it was party night. We actually didn’t experience bad noise from the party or was the noise from the next room. Kept us awake til 4.30 am with their shouting and banging doors shouting Jill. I like to sleep when we stay in a hotel so sadly we won’t be returning.

I have never ever heard that in any hotel I have ever stayed in. We were unable to have a shower before our function held at the hotel. Many others had the same experience

Beds very comfy and perfectly crisp cotton sheets. Plenty of extra touches, tea, coffee and herbal teas as well as decafe options. Shower wash and body lotion. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel and the staff are amazing. From the minute we enquired about booking to our arrival we have received 100% customer service.Nothing is too much trouble to the staff.So helpful and friendly.

Easy check in and check out. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was really good and breakfast the following morning was equally good. We had a superior room which, although small, was clean and had everything we needed. The only minor issues we had was working out how to turn on the bedside lamps and bizarrely how to turn on the tap in the bathroom! Overall I would recommend the hotel and would also stay again if in the area.

I did ask reception on our first day if the safe in our room could be made to work (possibly a new battery). We were never told it was still not working. Would have been nice to have been told and also had to carry all my cards, handbag etc all the time whilst having breakfast/evening meal.

Nice Quiet Position But Service Poor
We arrived at about 20:00 on a Saturday evening to find the room like an oven with curtains wide open. Went down to the bar for a cooling beer to find no draught beer available as the pipes were being cleaned! The bar would not accept cash but the credit card machines would not work. We were told to pay next morning. Then on Sunday morning a cleaner burst in without knocking at about 09:00.

Arrived at 5.30pm after a long day of travelling and room was still not ready despite check in being 2pm - was told to wait at the bar (no complimentary drink offered) and I would be told when my room was available. Didn’t take long to gain access but when I did room was made into a twin configuration despite requesting a double, at this point I was too tired to request a change.
Hair found on pillow which isn’t great, bathroom outdated and tiles/grout need redoing. Breakfast was ok but friendly service lacking. Overall not great

Always use the Grange when in the area. Local to Silchester where we visit. Comfortable bed and clean room. Staff friendly and keen to help (i use a walking stick). Reasonable room rate. Lovely breakfast.

We were very impressed with everything at this hotel . From the staff the the rooms everything was spotless. Well maintained . Good food . And a great night's sleep . What more could you want . Unlike most hotels this shower was actually powerful and spotless . We will be back .

Stayed 1 night. Lovely comfortable bed and clean room. Bathroom was modern with a spacious easy to walk in shower.
All the team were friendly and helpful. They were managing a large birthday party in the main function room as well as our family meal for 11. Food was excellent. And the service was very attentive.
Hotel is quiet and has plenty of free guest parking. As with many venues, it is card only. Would definitely recommend, and use again in the future.

Nice lobby and grounds outside. Car park is decent size. No ramp for disabled people - have to climb several steps with suitcases, not suitable for wheelchair users. Rooms are a decent size, bathroom decent size. Beds not very comfy, one of our twin beds sloped sideways so you kept falling out of it. Room for extremely hot and no air conditioning which we didn’t think would be an issue in April. Over all decent but wouldn’t stay again

Not a good stay in first room as smelly, something like cigarettes. Reception staff knocked on door 5 minutes after going innthe room asking if okay, they agreed the room did have a smell and was moved.
The next room had a generator room on the other side of the wall that kept going off and was noisy, reported to reception and moved yet again to a ground floor room.
Unfortunately about 15 minutes later a generator right outside the room kicked in and thought this would be noisy throughout the night and would wake me up, i then went back to reception again and told them of the problem and wanted a room without these issues.
I was then told the only room available was the first room that had the smell and they can look at giving me another room the following day, the only good news was that i diid get a better room the next day which was okay.
Not a great experience in having to change rooms so many times in one evening, complaint raised and not resolved as the hotel seems to think it was accepted to change rooms so many times.
I won't be staying here again.

Pros: Laura on reception was helpful and friendly. Excellent parking and EV charging. The front garden is very pretty. A bus stops just up the road that goes into Newbury if you want to leave the car behind.

Expected to eat dinner off a coffee table in the bar after booking a table in the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was set up for a wedding the next day so was not being used. We cancelled the booking and had a really nice meal at the Berkshire Arms just down the road. The flush on the toilet worked but was very stiff. It was not clear which way to turn on the tap on the wash basin and so I kept dowsing myself and the entire room with water! The room was very hot. The air con seemed to work on one setting only, so was too strong. Turning it down had no effect so we turned it off.

Ok hotel for close to aldermaston with EV chargers, easy parking , down side was room very hot and waited a hour for dinner.

We stayed in the double room which was compact ,clean and comfortable and fine for a night or two with minimal luggage. Any longer, it would have been too cosy and any more luggage, you would not have room to store it. The staff were helpful.

Not stayed here for a few years and always used to be good. Hotel in the main was the same and a reasonable standard however, whilst the bed was freshly made, the toilet had not been cleaned at all. There were urine splashes around the rim, pubic hairs all over the rim and poo splatters on the seat and pan. There was a single pubic hair in the sink too. There was also a part biscuit wrapper on the seat that hadn’t been removed.
I complained and reception were apologetic and said they would clean it that evening while I was out. I returned at 10:15 to find the toilet was exactly the same but at least the pubic hair from the sink had gone! I insisted on a different room but by now I was so wound up I didn’t sleep well.
Breakfast in the morning was okay but the bacon had been under the heat lamp so long it was tougher than my shoe.
General management were very apologetic but for £127 per night I would’ve expected a partial refund as a minimum.
Not sure I would stay again when in the area, or use for colleagues when I book their accommodation, not a patch on what it used to be unfortunately.

A disturbed nights sleep as there was a function on at the hotel and guests at this function were stood outside my ground floor room partying and smoking until after 1am even though the hotel assured me my room was away from the function area. In the morning i had to sit on a low chair and table to eat my breakfast even the the dining room was set up and empty as it was reserved for the afore mentioned party none of whom had turned by the time i was finished and left. The experience was so bad I left that morning even though I had booked a second night there and lost my money on that one. The staff i dealt with didnt appear to care or offer any way to mitigate the poor service ie move room or have a room service breakfast. I have stayed here multiple times in the past and the service has steadily deteriorated over that time. Needless to stay this will be my last stay there.

We came to go to a family funeral and were really pleased to have our room upgraded. However the broken blind which looked mouldy, the mouse trap visible to customers behind the coffee machine at breakfast, the overpriced coffee from a machine when a proper coffee machine was turned on and just not used, did not add any further enjoyment to this.

Somewhat puzzled why my superior room is £50 more the day after. i have no objection paying over £115 for a room but it needs to be in good repair. parts of the room where broken, paint peeling by the door and the toilet flush very intermittent, the fan didn't work either so surprised the fire alarm didn't go off.

Arrived and had to wait several minutes for Reception, the hotel looked quiet. I went to my room and parts of it had not been cleaned. One of the bed side units had water spilt on it and they had marks from drinks on other parts of the room. The sink had not been cleaned properly and the towel had a hole in it. Disappointed considering this was a superior room, it did not feel like it and that somebody had previously been in the room. When I went to reception to complain there was nobody there due to the bar area being very busy. The Tv and remote control did not work correctly and often just switched off. I have stayed here several times and this was the worst experience so far.

When I arrived to check in around 6pm there was nobody on Reception & I had to wait over 10 minutes before anyone appeared. I even tried calling the Landline phone twice, nobody answered!

Small, noisy and uncomfortable rooms
Rather disappointing and uncomfortable stay - we were staying having attended a wedding nearby so needed to iron some shirts. The first attempt to get one was forgotten about by reception, the second attempt resulted in a broken iron and the third in an iron which left brown stains all over the shirts. The room was also very tiny and left about 50cm around the bed on all sides meaning that very difficult to navigate when trying to iron a shirt. In respect of the stay itself, the bed was poor quality, very firm and could feel every spring - not what you'd expect having paid nearly £120 for one night. Also there was a loud fan being run all night directly outside the room. On check out was not even asked how the stay was - we suspect because they knew it was not going to be a glowing review 😂

No air conditioning in rooms despite what they say
We had booked a room months in advance and the booking clearly stated in more that one place that the rooms had air conditioning. When we got there the person at the front desk responded to my question about whether or not there was AC with \"there should be\". There was not. Turns out only some of the rooms have AC. I can not express to you how little she cared. The response was, \"well we are fully booked so I don't think there is anything I can really do\". Hotels.com even called them and they did nothing about it. The one thing I would say is that the hotel is fine other than that, but make sure when you book that you call and make sure that your room definitely has AC. Also, we did not eat but apparently the food is terrible. There is a great pub down the street that had really good food. Berkshire Arms.

Reason being they had a party and we were told the party was on until mid- night but went on till 1.30! The music was so loud even though we were at the other end of the hotel, the drums were still very loud and it upset us, we had to leave and not happy with experience we had! We will not be going back!

The present house, where the hotel is located, was built by James Pettit Andrews between 1763 and 1772 to designs by John Chute.
This style is now known as Strawberry Hill Gothic, after the house created for Horace Walpole in Twickenham. The land purchased by Andrews at the time was not extensive and during his ownership, Donnington Grove could more properly be described as a house with grounds rather than a country estate.
The estate, which comprises of 550 acres, was a mixture of parkland, farmland and woodland, with the River Lambourn running through it. These variations in the landscape provided an ideal setting for a championship golf course.
Dave Thomas, one of Britain’s foremost golf architects was assigned the task of creating a golf course that was in keeping with the listed landscape gardens and lake to the south of the house. The construction of the course started in November 1991 and on the 12 June 1993 the Donnington Grove Country Club opened.
