This hotel location and its staff will make your stay a comfortable one! The staff is willing to go the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one, the hotel being within a mall is quite convenient with many dining options and shopping within a minute’s walk! This combination really made our stay a great one.

Kudos to the hotel staff for making sure we always had what we needed and for always providing suggestions for what to do in Santiago and surrounding areas.

I’ve been in Spain for two weeks now and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. The hotel is part of a mall but has no lobby and no place to pull up to unload unless you use the illegal loading zone. I wandered around inside for several minutes until I found the reception hidden under a staircase. I checked in, went to my room, which was blistering hot. I turned on the air conditioning while I unpacked, only to discover that the air conditioning was not working. In addition the fridge was not working. When I reported this at reception, I was told that their central air was broken. Further, there was only one plug in for charging devices and it was in the bathroom. Neither side of the bed, the lamp or TV area had a plug. When I returned the following day after my visit to the Cathedral, I found that the elevator wasn’t working….and I was on the sixth floor. Not to mention that I walked in, greeted the two ladies at reception and then stood in front of the elevator. They didn’t bother saying anything to me until two more people arrived and told THEM that the elevator was broken. The only saving grace was the nice young man that checked me in. Although he tried to offer me another room on the second floor, I would have to pack my items and there was no central air no matter what room I was in

False Advertising of Rooms

When I booked this room the hotels.com description listed ‘2 Queen beds’. Ultimately 4 family members travelled together here and we could easily have slept in the room. At the front desk I asked that my 2 additional family members be added to the reservation but the clerk refused. I had to purchase a second room to gain access for my family (4 total). When I arrived in our 2 rooms I realized why I had to purchase this second room. There were no queen beds at all; only 2 twin beds measuring 39-40 inches wide vs a 60 inch Queen bed advertised. Very disappointed that I had to spend alot of extra money due to this false advertising.
Also the room service was poor; my sheets had a food stain after the first night so rather than providing clean sheets the maid simply made up the bed neglecting to change out the soiled sheets.
Also it’s an ordeal to get ice; there are no ice machines in this hotel so you have to ask the front desk to acquire a bucket of ice from the kitchen.
All in all I will not be staying at this property again.

This hotel is outside the historic streets of the city centre but only 10-15 mins walking to the cathedral. It is modern and very well appointed with beautifully comfortable rooms featuring a big bathroom with bath which makes a change in these parts. Check in was smooth thanks to Juan on front desk. The hotel is within a square shopping mall and is directly over a supermarket for any snacks or drinks you need. Breakfast buffet looked good value but I prefer to eat in small bars of which there are a few closeby. This was great value at the time I stayed and would certainly recommend it especially if you are doing the Camino. You will love the luxury

Comfortable way to visit the City and Cathedral

Dry pleasant and helpful multi lingual staff offering good local advice. Lovely room, comfortable bed, full size bath and shower, good Spanish style breakfast, plenty of fruit and coffee. Problem finding hotel entrance, avoid the underground shopping centre car park if possible. 2Kms from Cathedral, bus available though others have walked 200+Kms. Recommended for modern facilities and great staff.

The front desk was apologetic, but the damage had already been done, and I brought home some nasty bites as a souvenir.

The hotel is in a multi-purpose development. Staff were pleasant, hotel room was spacious and comfortable, buffet breakfast was fine. The only things lacking was coffee/tea making facilities and an actual lounge area to sit in if one wants to get out of one's room. Shame. I am finding Spanish cities/towns very difficult to navigate as nothing is well signed. I know GPS would help but I doubt that it would be much use in the maze.

Quirky location in a shopping mall

I was looking for a one night stay outside of the historic district at a reasonable price. I definitely got all of this. I have stayed in hotels within airport terminals but never in one literally part of a shopping mall. Curiously, it worked for me.
Not a terribly long walk, albeit uphill, from the \"Ciudad Histórico\", I eschewed the taxi option and hoofed uphill for my usual evening tapas crawl. Successful one, I might add.

We'd booked a single and a twin bedded room. On arrival we were told that they only had doubles, no twins. Lidia, the receptionist was in her 1st week at the hotel and she was on her own. She did her utmost to accommodate out request, but eventually gave up and gave us free breakfasts to compensate for our hassle. When we eventually got into our rooms (my punch card type key didn't work), we found that the \"single\" was in fact a triple, so I swapped with my cousin. The management should give reception information what is contained in each room. There is no safe in the rooms, as advertised under amenities: guests can leave a sealed envelope in the reception safe. The hotel is in a shopping mall. Rooms are dark and there is no view: my room faced into the mall. Our other room faced onto a wall. The hotel is some way from the centre of Santiago: the bus service is infrequent, so one really needs a car: parking outside is free and quite plentiful. Beds were comfortable; rooms were spotless and breakfast was good. Its a good choice if one has the use of a car and just wants a hotel to sleep in.

Twenty Minute walk from all the sites

The hotel was brilliant. The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and always friendly and helpful with excellent advice on the bus stop for Mount Gozo. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast where a range of food was available and the staff wonderful. Our room had blackout and air conditioning and we slept very well. We caught the bus from the airport to the bus station for 3 euros and walked to the hotel in about 15 minutes all downhill. We walked into the town every day and back again as we enjoyed the walk. It was uphill going and this may be a problem for people who find walking difficult but I am sure the staff would advise on local buses. The hotel is part of a shopping centre and very close to a large supermarket where you can buy anything you might need. This would be helpful to know to find it as we had to ask for directions, it is obvious when you know with a smart reception and lift to all floors. I loved it. .

Nice hotel with a good shopping complex attached

Very friendly staff. Air con was switched off in building when we arrived and it was unseasonably warm. As soon as i brought it too staffs attention it was rectified. There is a good shopping center attached and it is a ten minute walk to the beginning of lots of restaurants and 15 mins from the Cathedral. I would recommend then city and the hotel to anyone.

Although the hotel is located in a shopping centre, the neighbourhood is pretty generic. The noise from the shopping centre is irritating after a while, and the windows on that side of the hotel open i to the mall, therefore you cant really get any fresh air in your room. That being said, the staff were always very friendly and helpful, and its a decent enough place to stay if you just need to rest up. If you want to be in the centre of town, pick somehwere in the old town.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was OK - there's a bus into town or you can walk it in 20 odd minutes, Breakfast very nice. Room was clean but mine was small and next to the elevator shaft. I could hear the lift going up and down. Didn't bother me but might upset a light sleeper. My mum loved the hotel and she's in her 70s. Surreal having a view of the mall - I enjoyed this quirky aspect of it.

Area Central Santiago de Compostella...amazing...

This has been the second time I stayed at the Area Central. The expedia price which was amazing and the quality of the hotel is one of the best deals I have come across in a long time. I highly recommend this hotel. The only 'negative' and it really is a negative is that it is about 20 minute walk to the Santiago Cathedral. The modern facility, cleanliness, comfort and price make up for this many times over.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during October 2010 after completing the Camino de Santiago. The hotel is located about a 25 minute walk away from the Cathedral and is a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport. The hotel is part of the area central complex which includes a shopping centre with bars/restaurants & commercial/residential premises. Although a little modern & lacking character the hotel itself was clean, tidy and efficiently run. The only main problem that I had was the lack of privacy as the room was overlooking the shopping complex interior. Otherwise I had no real issues. Would I recommend this hotel to a friend? I don't think so, I would look for something with a little more charm & closer to the centre, although the centre of town can become a little tiring due to the large number of tourists. In a nutshell - if you can get this at a decent price, go for it.

Great Hotel, but not Actually in the \"Central\" Area

The hotel was great, and the staff were very helpful (and spoke English). However, \"Area Central\" is the name of a shopping center that is a bit outside of the central part of Santiago - it does not mean the central area of the city. The hotel is located inside of this shopping center. It is not far or difficult to find, but the name is a little misleading. If you are travelling by bus, this is a convenient location since the bus station is nearby.

While the staff at this hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful, you should know that it forms one side of a large shopping centre. As such, the noise from the atrium below sounds a lot like a public swimming pool. The walls inside the hotel are paper thin. Noisy and very basic!

La ubicación es muy buena.
Varios buses al centro paran en la puerta.
Forma parte de un área de tiendas , con un Alcampo en la puerta prácticamente y varias opciones para comer.
El personal muy amable y dispuesto y la limpieza de las habitaciones muy buena.
En la parte negativa , el mantenimiento general del edificio está un poco dejado y el desayuno es muy justito y desde luego no vale los 10€ que cobran.
