Good access to amenities. As English tourists disappointed that we were not allowed to have breakfast or evening meal in the hotel restaurant .we were told that the hotel was fully booked and could not cater for all the residents. Very expensive for what was on offer

This property is a beautiful location - walk to the ropeway, shops, beach and all else in Miya-jima;

We had a huge room because one in our party cancelled last minute; we had a large family suite which could probably sleep 6;

A living room area was nice to relax; on the balcony, a private hot tub, cold plunge and sauna completed the private spa; a public hot springs bath also on site - very private; no fitness center;

Our room was brand new and spotless;

It was very pricy, but was like having a full apartment; you might also get a smaller room with a view for cost savings;

I recommend including breakfast and dinner in your reservation as many restaurants in town are fully booked;

There is a lovely coffee/snack room overlooking the beautiful gardens;

Bring Google Translate and you will do well communicating;

We used the luggage forwarding service and traveled very light to return to the ferry, JR train to our next destination; if you’ve not used before, highly recommend.

Hotel is great and the public baths. Staff is excellent and very helpful. My only complaint is the wifi that it keeps dropping and takes a while to reconnect.wifi in room is bad but at lobby the signal is strong but also drops a lot and needs reconnecting.Enjoyed my stay and great hotel and staff.

Great location, lovely staff and so helpful. We had a Japanese room and after Tokyo and Osaka it was HUGE ! An amazing experience best sleep we have had.
We didnt book meals but probably should of booked dinner as that was stressful!
Gift shop on site with great items.

Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto

We were after a traditional Japanese style stay and we were not disappointed from the moment we got off the ferry. We were greeted by the friendly local deer, which the kids loved. The Staff were very friendly, courteous and very attentive and accommodating. The room was very clean - traditionally kept - we slept on futons, floor was tatami mats, ate on the traditional tables and bathed in the onsen. Highly recommend if you’re after a traditional experience!!!

What a great ryokan experience! Definitely a highlight of our trip. This was our introduction to an onsen and it was perfect. The meals are a must! The food is so fresh and delicious. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend the Grand Hotel Arimoto and would come again.

If you are planning on spending a night in Miyajima, this hotel was fantastic. The staff is amazing, they pick you up and drop you off to the ferry terminal, even though it is a 6/7 minute walk. There is a small japanese garden and a public bath.
The island itself is magical, small and cute. The restaurants close early and some open until 8:30, but it might be a good idea to find same day reservations once you find where you want to eat. The hotel offers a room with food/restaurant service that you can purchase when booking.

We stayed in the room with the open air bath and it was a beautiful room. The open air bath was worth it with a view of the famous gate. The staff was amazing and so respectful. The location was close to the shrine and shops and not far from the rope pull to go to top of mountain. Highly recommend this hotel!

The service at the Miyajima Grand Hotel couldn't have been better. Shuttle bus to collect us from the ferry, bags carried to our room (which was lovely), staff on hand at all points, exceptional dinner, onsen in the building - we had such a great time!

Very little to find fault with but the menu is very fish/seafood heavy so not great if you're not a fan of that!

This ryokan was so cozy and the staff was incredible. I would have given them more stars if I could have. We had a Japanese style room with private garden and a soaking tub. In the first floor of the ryokan you can find the public onsen. When you first arrive you are greeted by all the staff and check in on the second floor. Dinner and breakfast were included in the price for the room we stayed in. We were shown to our room and had tea and fruits/sweets waiting for us in the room. The hostess/geisha prepared green tea for us and asked about our dinner menu choices. Dinner was delicious with some of the freshest sashimi I have ever had. Very enjoyable stay. The hotel offers a free shuttle for its guests to and from Miyajima ferry. Also if you like to hike the trail (2.4 km and very steep with plenty of stairs) that takes you to the top of Mount Misen is just around the corner from this Ryokan.

Beautiful location, amazing room and the staff were just incredible. We contacted them ahead of time about the possibility of vegan alternatives for meals and honestly we were blown away by the level of effort they put in. The best food we had in our entire holiday by far!! They were so attentive, obliging and friendly too. Best check in experience we had all holiday, most helpful recommendations about the local area and just an all round fantastic experience.

We looked at so many options including Iwaso who never even bothered to reply to our email (!) and other luxury options. I am so so glad we went with this place and delighted we were able to experience it. Without doubt we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Had a wonderful one night stay. The outdoor soaking tub with view of shrine was heaven, as was the dinner and breakfast. Really helpful to speak at least basic Japanese, though - the lady who showed us our room spoke no English, she was very patient and gracious, but we wouldve been lost if we didnt speak any Japanese at all. The staff at the front desk spoke more than enough english for check in/out, as did the shuttle bus driver, so dont be totally put off even if you dont speak Japanese. An unforgettable experience in an iconic location.

The hotel is well located. But our room, although large, was disappointing. All in all, this hotel did not live up to the very positive online reviews.

Almost a disaster at check in when, despite booking for a family of four (all ages declared) for dinner, bed and breakfast, staff advised they would be charging us an additional ¥6,000 to cover our 2.5yr old as they assumed it was a baby and wouldn’t need a bed or food (?!). In the end we agreed that 1 meal would be sufficient to share between our 2.5 & 4.5yr old so no need to debate but not a great start.
Staff were very friendly and the room was nice although we got twin beds rather than a king size bed.
Dinner was a good traditional Japanese banquet, breakfast was generous portions too.
Very convenient location.

Arimoto hotel is amazing! Everything about it was delightful! It was walkable to all sights, and they offer a shuttle to pick up/drop off at pier for convenience. The rooms are spacious and equipped with nearly every amenity one could possibly need. The dinner/breakfast was delicious - lots of variety and excellent service. Every staff member from the shuttle driver to the front desk to housekeeping was exceptionally kind, friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect Japanese immersion

The Grand Hotel Arimoto is superb for those who love the Japanese culture and beauty. It has all the modern amenities and yet remains very traditional. It is very close to the main shrine and torii, allowing for night viewing of these amazing sites. The staff was very welcoming, the food was delicious, the room spacious and beautiful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the hot bath. Pricey but absolutely worth it.

First Class experience in Miyajima

This was the most impressive hotel we stayed in during our recent trip! Arrived in the morning and caught the hotel shuttle from the ferry dock. Since we couldn't get into our room yet, the staff took care of our many bags and checked us in. Hotel was just minutes walking distance from main attractions and shopping street. When we got into our room we were shocked to find they put us in a suite with tatami room, western bedroom and a sitting area! Evening stroll down to Torii was magical, wearing yukata. Kaiseki dinner down in dining room was excellent as was the Japanese breakfast next morning. Throughout our stay we were assigned a staffer - Mio - who was very attentive and friendly. Didn't have a chance to try the onsen. Next time!

Wonderful Miyajima Grand Arimoto

The Miyajima Grand Arimoto offers a synthesis of Japanese and Western experiences. The multi-course dinners are amazing - wonderful food, fabulous presentation and excellent service! The sashimi box with shells filled with dry ice is exquisite - a treat for the eyes and the tummy. The rooms are very clean and it's a fun experience to wear yukatas to breakfast or dinner.

All round good hotel

Hotel is in a decent location just behind Itsukushima Shrine close to all attractions, little far from Miyajima ferry port if you have a lot of luggage but hotel has bus that will pick you up. Nice clean room just a little small particularly the bathroom but this is normal for Japan. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good quality and plenty of food, walked away without finishing. In general for a hotel on Miyajima island it was well worth it.

Very near the giant tori gate and shrine that have made Miyajima famous.

Incidentally Expedia inserted a highly incorrect info in my confirmation which said:
'There is no front desk at this property. To make arrangements for check-in please contact the property ahead of time using the information on the booking confirmation.\"

This is absolutely not true. Not only is there a highly qualified front desk but I was picked up by the hotel shuttle bus upon my arrival at the ferry.

Nice Japanese style room that was very clean. Person who escorted us to our room did an exceptional job in explaining the features of the hotel, and was also the person who served us our dinner and breakfast. Excellent Japanese style dinner with a lot of food. For breakfast, we had 1 Japanese style and 1 western style. Japanese style was good, but the western breakfast was below average.

Onsen was nice, but pools were a little shallow.

Hotel is in a great location for the shrine. The staff were friendly and helpful. The evening meal was a banquet, a set menu (all in Japanese so we had no idea what we would be eating) - 14 items! Very Japanese cuisine, lots of fresh fish and an enormous sashimi platter which was beautifully presented - excellent chefs.

Stayed at the Japanese/western room. Beautiful room, very clean and spacious with a nice balcony over looking the Tori Gate. Service was fantastic as staff tried to explain the amenities and services in the hotel. Dinner was great too. A short walk to the tori gate, gotten the chance to see the beautiful tori gate and itsukushima shrine at night. Will recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to catch a beautiful scenery of the UNESCO site.

A great way to experience Miyajima

This is a very good hotel which is well situated on Miyajima Island to allow easy access to all the island has to offer.

The room was clean and comfortable (with the beds being a little hard for our liking) and we had a view of the O-torii Gate from our balcony.

The hotel staff were very friendly and willing to assist. A shuttle bus service is available to and from the ferry terminal which makes access much easier. It is also and inexpensive taxi fare away from the terminal.

We stayed for two nights to allow for a bit of down time on our recent trip and Miyajima is a great place to do this. After the day tourists leave the island is very quiet - with nothing open, so make sure your hotel offers and evening meal as part of your package.

The evening meals provided the opportunity to try a number of local dishes and seafood.

This is a good hotel and spending a little extra time on Miyajima Island allows you to see all that is has to offer, including the different views of the O-tori Gate and Itsukushima Shrine at high and low tide. Both are illuminated until 11.00 pm at night, which also makes for a great view.

Splendor Overlooking the Shrine

Fabulous. Nestled in the hills and deer-filled forest overlooking the harbor and the world-famous floating Torii gate, this hotel rises up to greet and embrace you in superb comfort and hospitality. From the shuttle bus driver who greets you at the ferry, the front desk staff, the hostess who walks you to your room, the kimono-clad housekeeping staff to the servers who guide you through a traditional meal as delicate as it is delicious, the service is simply remarkable.
The beautiful modern lobby blends modern, Western style with traditional Japanese decor, a view of their flowing water garden, and quiet jazz. Our room was large and very comfortable, combining excellent Western-style mattresses and tatami mats, with sliding shoji screen doors and a sofa and arm chairs in-between.
The in-room welcome includes tea service at a low table with a tree tops view of the harbor and the world-famous floating gate. Add the multiple shrines, town & hill walks, and plenty of shopping and neighborhood restaurants, staying here made our trip to this small island fifteen minutes from Hiroshima jump from a delightful day to a blissful memory that will linger.
The only mark against this delightful hotel was some furniture that needs refinishing.
We recommend this spot to anyone who wants to experience the best, a romantic evening or two together, to balance a somber, thought-provoking visit to the Hiroshima with a restorative time in the beauty of old Japan.

A grand experience on a magical island

Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time as you'll want to spend as much time enjoying the hotel ambiance and amenities as you will sightseeing this wonderful island. We loved our stay at the Miyajima Grand. It was so nice to be on the island at night. The hotel staff was very accommodating and the service fantastic. The dinner at night a huge treat. The room we were in was a little dated (fixtures) , but lovely view of the bay and gate. We slept well, family of 4, two on western beds, 2 on japanese style. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We paid a little more than we wanted to staying here - but it was worth every cent. Stepping off the ferry we asked the info desk to call for the hotel to arrange our pick up. Upon checking into our room we were run through menus and other things by a friendly staff member. Our room was amazing there isn't much more to add on top of that. We then went for an evening walk around the island - beautiful. Dinner was held in our own private little room and there was sooooo much food it was crazy. They held our bags for us during the next day after we checked out so we could explore the island a bit further. Staying on the island is simply a must and I would highly recommend this hotel to stay at for service, quality and location.

Wonderful experience and highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore the beauty of Miyajima. Only minor gripe we had was that there was no air-conditioning in the rooms but luckily it wasn't too hot. Was informed by staff that the hotel was 'centrally air-conditioned' and to simply open a window. However, if you're paying $$$ for a room air-conditioning is pretty standard. Furthermore, not sure we would agree about the 'central air-conditioning' as the hallway/public areas were clearly a lot cooler than our room. There are several other hotels in the style of ryokan too so next time we visit we might try them out.

3歳、2歳の息子と妻と4人で宿泊しました。
予約した時から息子の食物アレルギーの件で何度かやりとりをしたのですが、とても親切に対応くださいました。

館内の綺麗さ、お部屋の清潔感、立地のよさ、送迎サービスなどはもちろん、スタッフの皆さんのホスピタリティの高さがものすごかったです！！
夕食、朝食共に地元の食材も使われておりとても美味しかったです。

サービスがいい、食事が美味しいなど素敵なホテルはたくさんありますが、スタッフさんがここまで素敵な方々が揃っているホテルは初めてです。

まさに感動品質でした。

大人だけで来ても、子連れでも心身ともに癒されるホテルだと思います。

清潔な室内、スタッフの方も親切で、お料理もとても満足しています。
また、館内に装飾されている、木目込み人形がとても素敵でした。
また、是非お世話になりたいと思います。
