It was fun to experience old-fashioned bougie Sweden. Beautiful views of the water. Excellent food at traditional full Swedish breakfast. Antique interiors with high ceilings. And antique Swedes as guests. We did one spa day and it was quite basic sauna, hot tub, pool. The local area was beautiful. There are renovating the hotel so some areas are a construction zone and you need to overlook that.

Det här är den gamla sortens lyxhotell. Det märks genom möbler med intarsia, marmortvätt och stor garderob etc. Knut Agaton Wallenberg som inspirerats av hotellen på franska rivieran invigde hotellet 1893 tillsammans med sin hustru Alice. De krävde kvalitet i minsta detalj vilket märks än idag.

Hotellet er under renovering, så det er egentlig ikke fair at bedømme dets tilstand. Personalet var venligt, men det var irriterende, at personalet ved morgenmaden forsøgte at konversere. Det har man som hotelgæst ikke brug for. Desuden var det uklart, om “almindelige” gæster måtte bruge hotellets lille strand, eller om den var forbeholdt spa-gæster. I det hele taget var der ikke megen information om faciliteter - ud over morgenmadstiderne.

Väldigt trevlig personal och fantastisk byggnad och läge. Maten i paviljongen fantastisk. En större renovering hade påbörjats så en hel del i korridorerna var halvfärdigt. Det andra rummet vi fick var bra, men det första hade varken ventilation eller AC. Hotellet stänger inom kort under några månader just för att göra klart renoveringen.

Dyr restaurant, som vi derfor ikke prøvede. Det samme med pool-området. Vi er vant til, at pooladgang er inkluderet i prisen. Ladestandere til elbil var ikke i drift. Øv Øv. Mitt under renoveringen. Men magin kunde upplevas ändå. Vi ville vara i lugn och ro bara för 1 natts vistelse. Detta var perfekt. Strandpromenad, utsikt, lite mindre folk just denna period, extremt tyst och lugnt mot vad jag förväntat mig av en så gammal byggnad. Personalen är väldigt bra på sitt jobb när det kommer till vänlighet. Uppskattar att det fanns blandade åldrar i peronalen men mest 30+ (av det vi såg). Faciliteten behöver absolut rås om, vilket är i gång nu, men det var väldigt fint att få se det gamla och slitna också, för oss nostalgiker.
Nästa gång ser vi fram emot att nyttja badbryggan och spa:t.

Uns war bewusst, dass das Hotel gerade renoviert wird. Aber dass es im Zimmer mit Blick auf die Baustelle keinen Kasten oder sonstige Möglichkeit gab, die Wäsche zu verstauen, den Koffer außer auf dem Boden abzulegen bzw. der fast manngroße Spiegel einfach an die Wand gelehnt war und somit ein Sicherheitsrisiko darstellte, können wir nicht ganz nachvollziehen. Das einzig Positive war das reichhaltige Frühstücksbuffet.

Vaikka hotelli on nyt remontissa oli majoitus ihan ok. Tosin parvekkeella ei ollut tuoleja ja siellä oli lokinpoikanen jota vartioi kiukkuinen emo... Oltiin tilattu alkuun kuoharit ja hedelmävati ja ne jäivätkin kokonaan saamatta vaikka niitä pariin otteeseen kysyttiinkin.. Majoitus on sijainniltaan hyvä ja mukava mutta ravintola siellä ei niinkään.

Vi hade en i stort sett bra upplevelse på hotellet. Personalen var mycket trevlig och hjälpsam, och servicen överlag höll hög standard. Det märks att de anstränger sig för att ge ett bra bemötande.
Tyvärr drog rummet ner helhetsintrycket en del. Det låg i kvällssol och när vi checkade in var persiennerna inte neddragna, vilket gjorde att det var väldigt varmt – uppemot 29 grader. Det blev en svår natt att sova på grund av värmen.
Korridoren utanför vårt rum var dessutom något sliten och luktade inte fräscht på morgonen, troligtvis på grund av matlagning från frukostköket i närheten.
Spat var helt okej – särskilt utepoolen med utsikten över skärgården, som verkligen var en höjdpunkt.
Sammanfattningsvis ett hotell med potential, där servicen sticker ut positivt men där vissa detaljer behöver ses över för en ännu bättre gästupplevelse

Das Hotel wird zur Zeit umgebaut, was wir leider erst nach erfolgter Buchung erfuhren. So stand vor unserem sehr schmutzigen Balkon das ganze Baumaterial. Das Zimmer war schön und modern renoviert, aber es gibt keine Kleiderschränke, lediglich wenige Garderobenhaken mit Kleiderbügeln. Als wir nach Strandtüchern fragten, war die Receptionistin nicht gerade hilfsbereit.

Vackert hotell med stor potential – men servicen behöver förbättras
Vi bodde nyligen på detta hotell och överlag är det en mycket vacker anläggning med fina omgivningar. Hotellet håller hög klass i form av miljö och matens kvalitet var genomgående utmärkt.
Däremot saknades det genomgående den där lilla extra touchen som gör helhetsupplevelsen komplett. Ett exempel är en råbiff för 285 kr som serverades helt utan känsla för presentation den såg tyvärr mer ut som en hamburgarpuck eller \"hundmatsbiff\" än en elegant förrätt. För det priset förväntar man sig mer omsorg och finess.
Under vårt restaurangbesök måndagen den 16 juni runt kl 15 noterade vi att cirka åtta personer ur personalen stod samlade vid baren, samtidigt som vi var de enda gästerna i lokalen. Trots detta fick vi ingen kontakt, ingen som stämde av maten eller frågade om vi ville beställa mer att dricka. Samma sak skedde på kvällen trots fler gäster och halvfull restaurang satt vi i över 15 minuter innan någon tog vår dryckesbeställning.
I spat verkade endast en person arbeta, vilket ledde till lång väntetid både för att boka, beställa och få hjälp. Receptionen var likaså underbemannad, vilket resulterade i lång kö vid incheckning. Försök att nå hotellet via telefon både till spa och reception besvarades inte vid upprepade försök.

Vi bodde nyligen på detta hotell och överlag är det en mycket vacker anläggning med fina omgivningar. Hotellet håller hög klass i form av miljö och matens kvalitet var genomgående utmärkt.
Däremot saknades det genomgående den där lilla extra touchen som gör helhetsupplevelsen komplett. Ett exempel är en råbiff för 285 kr som serverades helt utan känsla för presentation den såg tyvärr mer ut som en hamburgarpuck eller \"hundmatsbiff\" än en elegant förrätt. För det priset förväntar man sig mer omsorg och finess.
Under vårt restaurangbesök måndagen den 16 juni runt kl 15 noterade vi att cirka åtta personer ur personalen stod samlade vid baren, samtidigt som vi var de enda gästerna i lokalen. Trots detta fick vi ingen kontakt, ingen som stämde av maten eller frågade om vi ville beställa mer att dricka. Samma sak skedde på kvällen trots fler gäster och halvfull restaurang satt vi i över 15 minuter innan någon tog vår dryckesbeställning.
I spat verkade endast en person arbeta, vilket ledde till lång väntetid både för att boka, beställa och få hjälp. Receptionen var likaså underbemannad, vilket resulterade i lång kö vid incheckning. Försök att nå hotellet via telefon både till spa och reception besvarades inte vid upprepade försök.

Saltsjöbaden is a fantastic place to visit, beautiful scenery with touch of the archipelago.
However, Grand Hotel is under major renovation which we immediately marked upon arrival. It would have been good to know in advance for setting expectations. We found it basically remarkable that so much was still undone at the beginning of the summer season. All respect for the need to renovate, but it was really too much. Particularly inside in the hallways.
Hotel employees showed a great deal og understanding and we were actually upgraded to a very nice room (although the WiFi didn’t reach it).
I know the hotel will be even more fabulous after the renovation.

Bra tema typ av mat, klassiskt och vällagat men obefintligt med garnetyr/ finish på rätterna och smakerna sitter inte riktigt med tanke på klassen på hotellet och läget mm!

First visit to Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden. Location, facilities, room, staff and food was impeccable. We are frequent guests to both Ystad Saltsjöbad and Villa Strandvägen, both exquisite hotels. But after visiting Grand Hotel in Saltsjöbaden, we have a new favourite! Our 40 sq m LUX room had a stunning ocean view, and despite ongoing renovation of the hotel, we could not help falling in love with the views and atmosphere of this old and impressive building. Dinner in the Franska Matsalen was without exception prepared to perfection - portions ample and pricetags reasonable. Waiters friendly and knowledgeable. And as a bonus we enjoyed recognizing numerous locations and settings from the tv-series “Solsidan”. Only fly in the ointment was really that access to the pool was an additional 250 SEK/head. Otherwise everything top notch. Hope to make it back soon!!!

Hotellet lever uppenbarligen på sin anrika historia och pampiga utseende på ett välbärgat område. Då behöver de inte bry sig så mycket om kvaliteten. Slitna korridorer och rum, vidöppna dörrar till kök och städförråd, Duschen saknade spillkant, mörka gardiner strålade solvärmen in i rummet, som var över 30 grader vid ankomst. Tavlan saknades på väggen. Pengarna verkar istället gå till att hålla en hög personaltäthet i restaurang och barer. Där var det snabb service och många som stod osysselsatta i barerna.

Mycket slitet och mitt i renovering. De rum vi bodde i var riktigt slitna. De hade dragit ner på varmvattnet så att det inte gick att ta ett bad. Efter att vi bytt rum till ett ännu lite mer slitet med utsikt över en byggarbetsplats funkade vattnet fortfarande inte. Den tredje dagen fick de tag på någon som kunde skruva upp termostaten. Gulliga och trevliga i receptionen men kunde inte lösa problemet förrän sista eftermiddagen och ingen som helst kompensation.
