Wonderful location on a secluded island in the centre of Stockholm. It is about a 15 minute walk to Gamla Stan.

The hotel is a historic building in which great care has been taken with the design inside and out. We loved the gardens and it was wonderful to sit outside on the terrace to have breakfast in the glorious summer sunshine. The breakfast was very good- freshly prepared with quality ingredients. Staff were always polite and helpful and our room was clean, quiet and very comfortable- although quite small. This is a lovely hotel and we very much look forward to our next visit.

Lovely quiet setting close to the city centre, but it was advertised as having AirCon, which it doesn’t have. That may not usually be an issue but we were there in a heatwave when temperatures were 30C. All they had was an air movement system which made little difference. Staff told us that the room would cool down overnight (obvious really as temperatures fall at night) but it still made for an unbearable night so we had to leave after the first night - thanks to Expedia for helping us sort the problem.
We were also told that it would be difficult to find a hotel with AirCon in Stockholm as heat wasn’t usually a problem so far north. Needless to say it’s a modern European city so finding a modern hotel with AirCon in the city centre was easy

This hotel is a true delight. Based on a small island right in the centre of Stockholm, its serving is nonetheless distinctly rural: the gardens are marvellous.. The rooms are stylish, the food is excellent, the staff always charming.
This has been our fourth stay, and now we would never consider going to any other hotel in Stockholm. CanI award it six stars?

Excellent design hotel - in a great location to enjoy the city but still feel you are away from it all… Hotel felt more like a beautiful Scandinavian designed apartment building home with many access routes without having to go through reception or busy lobbies all the time. Excellent restaurant with an extensive breakfast buffet and a small but beautifully formed menu for lunch and dinner. Saw this hotel 9 years ago on my first visit to Stockholm and knew i would stay when I returned , it exceeded all expectations.

Beautiful design without other facilities/ amenities in the property (gym, lounge except restaurant, etc). Hospitality is also not their forte and since I booked the room from Expedia, all attempts of communication took too long and it was not different when I got to the hotel to check in (staff not even asked about my reservation details when I asked for early check in, which was offered via email). Beautiful location however for a short stay in Stockholm I don’t recommend it.

Uniquely sited on Skeppsholmen (ship's island), an island within sight of the old city, within 17th century barracks beautifully reconfigured into exceptional hotel accommodations. Resort like, even though in the middle of the city, connected by a short bridge to the larger city, served by frequent public bus transit with a stop almost at the front door and a ferry dock adjacent. The island is also home to museums and other historical sites. The hotel restaurant serves breakfast (lunch and dinner also), exceptional in its range of choices. Highly recommended, guaranteed to exceed expecations.

We stayed at Hotel Skeppsholmen for the nights in May 2024. It was unseasonably warm outside, but the air-conditioned room was always nice and cool. The hotel's location is convenient to get around Stockholm, yet tranquil and quiet. The island of Skeppsholem has the Modern Museum, the Toy Museum, and a few restaurants. It is nice to walk around in the evenings along the water. The hotel itself is in an old army barrack which has been beautifully redesigned and updated. Due to the age of the building, it isn't sound proofed but this wasn't an issue during our stay. The rooms are a decent size, but the beds are a bit on the firm side. Mattress preference is individual, but for me the beds were very hard. Some of the design of the bathroom is very much \"form over function.\" The shower and sink both get water everywhere, so be sure to keep items you wish to stay dry away from the shower door and sink area. Breakfast was adequate and quite good! The staff were all friendly, helpful, and professional. If ever in Stockholm again, I would definitely return!

As frequent visitors to Stockholm, this has become our automatic place to stay. The hotel is brilliantly positioned geographically within the city, with easy access to all parts via either boats or bus.
It is set on a small island , and is based around 300+ year old buildings brilliantly modernised. The grounds are a delight. The breakfasts are superb, the cleanliness immaculate.
BUT do not offer any Swedish money to pay your bills- only plastic cards are accepted.

A lovely hotel in a perfect peaceful setting for visiting Stockholm. Comfortable beds and very helpful staff.
Tea and coffee making was an optional extra and not provided consistently but requests for what we needed were dealt with promptly and pleasantly.
The breakfast buffet was excellent - although it was cleared away on the dot of the ending time.

A retired frequent business and pleasure traveler who has spent countless nights on the road, my general recommendation is to take the best reviews listed here to heart. If you enjoy being just another room number in a large hospitality factory, avoid Hotel Skeppsholmen. Otherwise, please read on.
Beyond comfortable rooms with nice views, good amenities and well-prepared food, Hotel Skeppsholmen is a nightly romantic walk “home” to its own quaint, charming islet, 10 minutes across the bridge by foot, but a world away from bustling central Stockholm. What truly sets Hotel Skeppsholmen apart from the pack, however, is its staff who puts their heart into their work. From the moment you walk in, there is an inexplicable, comfortable sense of being, a familiar place, perhaps as if staying at the country villa of friends or family.
Special accolades are in order to the restaurant staff for making each meal feel like we were dining in the home of very special caring friends. Likewise, accolades go to the guest services Manager and crew where attention to detail and little surprise touches (I won’t ruin) are in store for guests. It is readily apparent the Skeppsholmen Managing Director has an eye for assembling an outstanding crew worth its weight in gold.
Thanks to them I often daydream of yesterday at Hotel Skeppsholmen, yet fight a bit of sadness at being unable to return until Summer.

It's Skepps-tacular!

Very pleasant stay at Hotel Skeppsholmen. Lucas at the front desk was really friendly and helpful during our 3 nights. The room was clean and had a lot of interesting design features (lighting, bathroom fixtures, etc.). The hotel is very close to the Modern Art Museum and reasonably close for walking to other parts of Stockholm. We also had several meals and drinks in the restaurant/bar which were also quite good.

On the plus side: brilliant location, convenient, great views, very quiet, clean, friendly staff, very stylish design.
On the minus side: there is a fine line between minimal Scandinavian chic and lack of comfort. We told the staff our heating wasn't working in the room and had to use a small, old, portable heater for the duration of our stay as the radiators were not repaired, thank goodness it wasn't freezing cold! One low level bare light bulb in the bathroom may look understated but no one can see to get ready!
There weren't enough staff at the Valentine's dinner. The staff seemed completely out of their depth, everyone knows Valentine's night will be a busy night. We were encouraged by email to book this special meal. At breakfast too, guests milling about looking for tables, clearing their own tables and wiping them while a few laid back staff walked around is just not on. Where was the host?
There's also a fine line between being laid back and being positively horizontal.
Some guide books I read led me to believe this would be the epitome of stylish comfort. Lower your expectations.

Bring your walking shoes!

Lovely hotel in picturesque setting. Easily accessed by ferry or on foot. Unfortunately apart from the museums there are no cafes/restaurants or bars on the island and no bar in the hotel so you have to travel back to city centre for these. In Winter this is worth bearing in mind.
Would be nice if there was a lounge area with fire for relaxing after spending the day in City.

I have been here a couple of times with very pleasant experiences. However this time we where not so pleased or impressed. We got a very dusty room(211) with a bad smell. Receptionists where happy and professional. An over priced lunch with self service and very little attention from the restaurant staff is not what we expected. Really good breakfast, however again the staff was hiding and where not very interested. Not really the experience we where looking for all in all, will be looking elsewhere going forward.

Poor service at dinner. Staff both bus and serve tables and cover too many tables. I waited 20 minutes in the bar/restaurant area without any greeting by staff. Got up and left.

We stayed at several hotels on a recent vacation in Sweden and this was our favorite. One can imagine that if one lived in Stockholm, one could have it all - lively city with the beauty and tranquility of nature within a few minutes walk. Thus, Skeppsholmen, on its own island with the super modern art museum, blends the comfortable, contemporary design of the rooms with the fresh air and views of the water - all within walking distance of the city center.

A wonderful stay

A lovely place with really friendly and helpful staff. The location is excellent and there are boats a short walk from the hotel which take you to the Old Town (Gamla Stan) or the amusement park/Abba musuem/beautiful park gardens. The hotel also sells transport tickets which makes it very easy for a first day in Stockholm. The breakfast was fabulous and there was a wonderful outside area in which to eat. A great stay and highly recommended.

When talking with people around Stockholm, Skeppsholmen Hotel was described as the best lodging experience in Stockholm. My stay will support that. It's on the peaceful and serene island of Skeppsholmen, and was previously an army barracks building, that after six years of extensive renovation opened as a boutique hotel, with excellent service and a restaurant recognized for its true, traditional Swedish cuisine. I was so lucky to have found this gem. My hats off to Sandra and her very accommodating staff. I really enjoyed the hotel, its restaurant, and Stockholm.

Hotel was a lovely respite from the busy city center. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast and coffee were excellent! Only downside was that the amusement park across the bay was noisy well into the night. It was hot and we had windows open and it was a slight distraction. Otherwise it was perfect!!

Beautiful contemporary eco-conscious hotel on Skeppsholmen island about 10 minutes walk from centre. Fabulous breakfast and super helpful staff. Delicious food though menu quite small especially for non meat eaters, though staff happy to provide what you want. Coffee lounge/bar at one end of dining room so not enormous but we were here out of season. Coffee/tea facilities in room would have been nice but other than that, absolutely no complaints.

A week holiday

Had a wonderful stay here. Staff really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and bed comfy. The shower powerful, as is common in a lot of continental hotels no bath. Good view over the Baltic Sea from our room. The breakfast selection was very good with a large choice of food, both continental and English cooked variety. The French toast in particular was very tasty. A selection of breads was supplied as well. The breakfast is a buffet style but laid out well with candlelight on each table. The restaurant food in the evening is of high quality. We would stay here again. The atmosphere in a cold December was really good.

Nice boutique hotel in a quiet area of Stockholm

This hotel was a nice quiet retreat within Stockholm. It is just a few steps to the commuter ferry and easily walkable if you want. The included breakfast was excellent and the dining room was one of the highlights of the hotel with its modern furnishings and plenty of windows.

Peaceful hotel

Had a lovely stay in this hotel. Loved the leafy location and gorgeous views. Food in the restaurant was delicious and breakfast was a very chilled affair...yum! Rooms were comfy and the toiletries were lux. I liked sitting in the afternoon sun in the garden a lot. Super cool staff. Wonderful place!

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting

The only complaint we have is that the phone was never answered at the desk. Everything else was so great we overlooked that. Excellent food!

Charming hotel on historic island

A historic building that once was part of a Swedish naval installation and is now tastefully restored. Our room was small but comfortable, and the hotel staff members were consistently welcoming and helpful. Located on a beautiful and quiet small island with other historic buildings and the wonderful Stockholm Moderna Museet, it's a easy walk or bus ride to Stockholm's old town, tour boats and other main city sights.

Food at the Skeppsholmen was quite good. That applies to both breakfast buffet, which can be booked with your room, and the very well-prepared lunches and dinners. Guests have the option of sitting either on a lovely patio looking out at gardens and the sea or a series of cozy indoor dining rooms.
