Yes the room was very clean, and most of the staff who we met were courteous. We also loved that it's peaceful, and that the beach was right at our disposal as we stepped out of the room. The only thing we would suggest are updated lamps, furniture, etc.(especially the bed that creaked and groaned from any movement).

Convenient location and beautiful views. Located just down the street from water taxi pier; makes it easy to get to. Restaurant on site has good food and makes grabbing a bite easy to do. The views from the beach are amazing and sunset is spectacular.

We really enjoyed our time here! Rooms were nice, loved the balcony/porches, beautiful view of the water, chairs available on the beach, nice bar/restaurant!! I would say not much is walkable, maybe a couple restaurants and water taxi dock are walkable, other restaurants, beaches, etc require transportation. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will be back!

The staff at this resort are wonderful. They take the time to learn your name and go out of their way to help. This relaxed beachside resort is all about the chill vibes. It's cute and has a decent and often lively restaurant, a bar area you can hang out in for hours, and comfortable loungers in shady spots under palm trees with a nice view. The private screened-in porches are a heavenly place to spend a quiet afternoon. Hits every note for a budget traveler.

I liked that it was right on the beach, I didn’t like that there was no microwave to reheat my food, so I had to throw it away. There’s no place on the compound to get any snacks and no ATM to get quick cash or EC.

Had a lovely stay. I was able to relax, reflect, release, and appreciate some personal time. I loved the screened-in porch (fabulous for days when it rains); David gave a FANTASTIC massage; Chef Ricky served a tasty chicken roti (the rum punch was DELICIOUS); the staff was kind and welcoming. The property isn't modern, but it meets your needs. If you want granite and luxury, stay elsewhere. This is truly quaint and familiar. I felt safe, respected, and a part of the family. The sweet goats roam the property at will, which is fine, except you have to watch where you're stepping. I was a magnet for the \"sand fleas,\" so bring plenty of anti-itch cream if you're going to sit on a beach chair near the water. The wifi was good in my room, but not while relaxing on the porch (that's what books and naps are for! lol). I do hope they look to redo the bathrooms (they just need a refresh: new sink, countertop). It's a really peaceful place, and I would certainly stay there again. Thanks to the ENTIRE staff of Oualie for welcoming me and making me feel so at home.

Oualie Beach Resort staff are very wonderful and very helpful. The atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful for a beach resort. The grounds are well cared for, picture worthy. There are ample areas for guests to sunbathe, have a picnic, and stroll along the beach without feeling crowded. The room was quite large for a resort. My favorite activity was sitting on the lanai in the morning with a cup of coffee watching the monkeys and birds. I look forward to a return visit this fall.

This was a wonderful place to relax and unwind, and convenient to get to from St. Kitts. Having the on-site restaurant allowed us to spend the whole day at the resort a few days and the food was great. That said, Oualie Beach is also conveniently located to get to other places to eat and sightsee, and there are other beaches nearby. The staff are very friendly and responsive. We felt safe and cared for!

I liked that it was on the beach well practically. However i felt the place needed some updating. We only stayed the two nights but i have stayed before for a longer period. The pillows could do with a wash or new ones obtained. we had a good time so no doubt i'll be back when its safe to travel again.

The room was very neat and clean. The screened porch was great! We sat out there every night and enjoyed listening to the water. The only downside to the room was the hot water. It sometimes took a while to get hot water, and the water didn't get that hot and steamy. But, we got used to it pretty quick, and didn't really need a super hot shower anyway.

The \"wildlife\" was very entertaining. We watched the monkeys every afternoon. The crabs are everywhere! We would stand and try and spot as many as we could, then take a step to see how many scurried away. The lizards and birds were always around. The goats, sheep and donkeys just kind of wandered down the street without a care in the world.

The restaurant on site was just about perfect. Most tables had a good view of the ocean. We usually sat right in front for the best view. I can't say enough about the food. The portions were just about right. We tried to stick with the local food as much as possible, and weren't disappointed. The catch of the was wahoo (sp) pretty much every day. Grilled was best, but the blacked was great as well. My wife really liked the chicken roti for lunch.

A beautiful spot/resort in need of some updating.

My stay was amazing. The staff and people were wonderful and very helpful. It felt like a family! However, it seemed understaffed. The restaurant staff often seemed overwhelmed having to waitress and bar tend. The resort is in a special location and the individual cottages are charming and clean. The beach is beautiful! The resort does need some updating. The resort would be perfect with updated bathrooms (especially better showers), new mattresses (I slept with a spring in my hip all week.) and updated/nicer beach furniture, lounge chairs, huts, the restaurant chairs. The food was excellent. The chef also was kind enough to even make fresh fish that we caught.

Staff are nice but the place needs some attention and care. It's pretty dated and needs a coat of paint. Restaurant isn't a good choice for vegetarians. If you rent a scooter or car, the location works well. Most rooms have a nice view of the ocean.

Great week away!

Went to Nevis for the first time and what a great place to stay. Being off season we practically had the entire resort/ beach to ourselves for the week. Service was great. Food was great. And the relaxing time was just what we needed.
Little bit of a hiccup with arriving in St. Kitts airport as had spoken with a resort employee at time of booking to arrange the transfer yet no one was at the airport to greet us. However St. Kitts is a very friendly island and people were more than happy to help us figure out how to get across to Nevis.
Overall a great week away!

This a natural laid back facility. Cottage style, but clean and island style feel. Not a hotel room, it’s what I enjoyed.
Siting on the Veranda directly on the beach with sunset views. Friendly staff there to help with any request.

Great low key Carribean style hotel. Staff was hit or miss, especially the front desk, but that wasn’t enough to interfere with our enjoyment. Would have been nice to have some assistance with luggage up the stairs to our second story room. Loved the screened in porch. The chairs in their are a bit awkward. They are more suited for on the sand at the beach. The backs can’t be adjusted.
We ate at the restaurant 3 nights. 2 out of the 3 meals were excellent.
Any negative comments are just an FYI. Would still recommend this for location and value.

Great little spot with an outstanding beach on Nevis looking out at St Kitts. There's a water taxi every 1:15 if you want to go to St Kitts for $20 per person. Staff is super friendly. The food at the restaurant is decent but not fabulous. The bar has a totally cool vibe. It's old school Caribbean with cows, goats, monkeys, and other wildlife wandering around the premises. If you're looking to get pampered with 5-star everything then perhaps this isn't the place for you but if you're looking for a really lovely little hideaway for a super good price then this is it. We rented a car which I would recommend. Other guests were jealous of us as they waited for their taxis.

Oualie Beach Resort is a wonderfully low key beach side resort on Nevis. The staff were extremely helpful in arranging airport transfers and rental car, exchanging currency and dining recommendations. The onsite restaurant was wonderful for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We loved watching the sunset each evening right from Oualie Beach and the live entertainment on Tuesday night was great fun.

There is a great deal to love about Oualie and some things that did not go so well. Having a 32 room boutique on the ocean is wonderful. Most of the staff was nice and helpful. The beach was excellent and would highly recommend for families including multigenerational vacations. The billing and front desk staff were not a great experience. Billing and credits from the booking of the room were not clear to the traveler between Travelocity and the billing staff. Then there's the little $1254.00 plus VAT of over $250 (yes that number is correct - I did not make a $1500 local phone call) that took way too long to resolve with the unable or unwilling front desk staffer. My recommendation is GO! but read your bill VERY carefully before you check out.

The rooms are very nice, our cottage was right on the beach with a screened in porch. If you wake up early enough you will be able to see monkeys around looking for fruits. There was internet tv so you are able to watch netflix or youtube. The beach was nice, relaxing and quiet. The restaurant itself was okay, there's a nice local crowd at the bar and it's nice to chat with them for recommendations or just about life on Nevis. If you leave from St. Kitts and take the \"private ferry\" from Reggae beach bar for $20/pp, it takes you right to the hotel. The hotel can book a car and the car company delivers it to the hotel. I would recommend renting a car as taxi rides are expensive, especially if you want to go to nice restaurants like Bananas or Golden Rock ($25 each way). We rented a car and explored the island on our own; if you get lost, just stop and ask for directions. If we come back, we would stay here again. Having experienced how expensive Nevis is ($30+ for simple breakfast of coffee and an omelette), this place is a great deal!

I loved how close this property was so close to the beach, breathtaking views of the islands, and nearby restaurants. It really immerses you in the beauty of the place and is so relaxing. The people are very friendly, the food is local and fresh, and I fell in love with their cat, Smokey. We also got to see monkeys every morning eating fruit from the tree in front of our patio. Nature comes to you- all you need to do is relax.

The property was neat, simple, friendly staff, private beach and room was big, spacious with own patio with ocean view. The dining experience was a bit pricey, average price for drinks at bar, fun entertainment but food delicious and drinks yummyand great hospitality of staff. We even met the owner just chillin at the bar and carried a fun normal conversation. Its not a fancy five star but the best place to feel relaxed, quite, peaceful and feel like its just you there, not crowded with lots of people. Allow extra spending for taxi, water service if wanting to explore island.

Lovely views,close to beach but hotel has seen better days. Breakfast menu never had everything available. No Bananas for a week, while they were plentifully available. Restaurant highly overpriced for quality of food,
Regular herds of cows, plus a bull wandering between the beach and accommodation, round the sun beds. eating the gardens and leaving ‘poo’ everywhere. Also donkeys, goats and sheep were regular visitors!
On requesting Rum Punch on our first night, it wasn’t available.. in over 20 years of visiting the Caribbean, Oualie Beach Resort is without doubt the worse place I’ve visited, and would not return if I was paid to!
The staff were lovely, and I felt sorry for them, as they worked hard to serve us and remain cheerful.

This is a true Caribbean resort in so far that sometimes things may not work and take a little time to get fixed but the staff are very friendly if you are toward them. The little gingerbread cottages are right on the beach and very roomy inside. It is a wonderful very casual place to go and relax.

Exactly what I would want in a beach front resort

Oualie Beach was exactly what I would envision for a beach front resort. The beach was lovely, the availability of chairs, hammocks or cabanas was perfect, and the location of the room in relation to this stunning view was perfect. We went off season, so I don't know how crowded they may get, but when we were there, things were not crowded and relatively peaceful. My only complaints were the distance from the resort to anything else you might want to see or do and the very limited menu at the restaurant during the slower season. I had seen the menu online and it had so many delicious sounding options, but the one that we actually received was much more sparse (I do appreciate that it changed daily though). A little extra lighting might not be a bad idea either, for people walking back to their rooms after dark.

Hotel personnel were very rude. The grounds along the beach area was littered with trash that the locals had left around but since it’s in the hotel grounds, the hotel should be responsible and keep it clean. Had no tv service at all. The positive things are the view and it was affordable for a two nights stay. Food was very good and the bar was sufficient also.

Sea breeze is THE best unit!

The pros - we were practically the only ones there! We felt like we had the resort to ourselves. The beach was beautiful and the view unbeatable. Our unit was the closest to the beach with a great view of the ocean from the bed. The dive shop onsite was also very good. Snorkeling on site was okay, but we did find a huge octopus!

The cons - although clean, the resort has seen better days. If you aren’t hard to please, this resort is so worth it.

Awesome villa style place on the beach

This place is amazing! It is on a super beach in Nevis, close to many fun places. Although the cable wasn't really working properly at this time, who wants to stay inside and watch tv anyway! The hammocks and beach chairs are free, and watching the sun set with the boats in the scene is a dream come true! The restaurant and bar are convenient, and we heard the most amazing steel pan player on a Friday night. What an awesome place this is to relax and recharge by the beach.

Places like Oualie are hard to find these days: genuinely friendly staff and owners, a beautiful setting, and a place where you can truly unplug from a hectically unhinged world. The food was wholesome (the buffet night was amazing), the location is sublime, and the vibe was absolutely restorative. This is not the place to come if you are used to chic, boutique-style hotels. However if you want to reconnect with nature, and explore the wonderful island of Nevis and its equally wonderful inhabitants in an unpretentious \"real-traveller\" kind-of-way, then Oualie Beach is a sure bet on Nevis. PS: we travelled with two young children, and they had a blast. Amazing stay, thank you Oualie Beach Resort!

Wonderful beachfront gingerbread cottage. The hotel is mostly green and the staff are the best. John, the owner, is friendly, smart and a fine singer. Check out the Tuesday night music jam, its fantastic!

Cottage style rooms right on the beach

The hotel is tired and the staff stretched, but once checked in, if you have a cottage on the beach you will love it! Large comfy rooms with fridge and coffee making machine/kettle. Wake up and enjoy being right on the beach, a great view. I would recommend this hotel if the location/view is important to you. The cost is so much lower than the other hotels on the island and its because it's really more of a motel than hotel. It has a small restaurant/bar and thats it. The beach also isnt private so anyone can walk past.

Prepare yourself for \"island time\".

Nevis is the quiet sister of the two islands so prepare yourself to be on island speed and island service. Overall hotel conditions are average. Staff service ranged from average to below average. Price is a bit high for the current condition, food, beach chairs and overall service. Very relaxing beach time.

Authentic Caribbean resort right on the beach

Our first impressions on arriving at Oualie Beach were that it was a fairly good but basic standard of accommodation, in an idyllic location right on the beach. However, as we relaxed and got into the Caribbean way of life we started to appreciate what this resort is all about.

The rooms are large and have fantastic views over the gardens and beach, where you can watch small boats coming and going from the pier. Our room would certainly have benefited from a little updating and a lick of paint, but this didn't detract from our enjoyment of our holiday. The furnishings were old and well used but functional. The room also had a coffee machine and a fridge and a (fairly noisy) aircon.

One major gripe was the wifi which, although was apparently new, was sporadic at best in the room. It worked fine in the bar and reception though (and on the beach strangely!)

We found the staff generally very friendly and relatively laid back.

If you are looking for a top notch 5* experience with all the trimmings then this is not for you. However, if you are looking to meet lovely people in a relaxed environment and soak up the most authentic Caribbean atmosphere then you will not be disappointed.

One night stay

King bedroom very spacious, huge bathroom, nice screened-in balcony. Very peaceful resort on the beach. Disappointed in TV, only 1 local channel. Was told cable tv was a constant problem on the island. Not sure that was the case because the Four Seasons did not have a problem. Towels were rather thin. Water pressure in shower not great. Bedding very comfortable. Dining room locale was nice but the food was pricey and just okay.

Easy going spot w/ great views

The view was great from the beachfront cottages and the whole property has a relaxed, island feel. The reception area was not fancy but our room was clean and had A/C unit. The restaurant was pretty good and definitely well-priced. The pictures on the website are a little misleading as the beach area was not maintained at all with mismatched beach chairs everywhere and lots of sea grass growing just a few feet into the ocean. Our cottage was well maintained but not decorated at all and the guest houses are right off the road so there is a fair amount of road noise.

Overall, it is a value compared to other spots on the island.

The cottages are very quaint with screened in porches and you can see the Caribbean. The room is very basic however but it met all of our needs. The beach was very nice. We wanted to see Nevis and this was a great place to stay overnight. Very relaxing and I would definitely come back again.

Paradise away from the crowds !

Really impressed with the setting, quite idyllic. The sun beds and hammocks are there right outside the room , the beach is 2 steps away and all you can hear is the lapping of the sea and the birds. Not jet skis or loud music to spoil the tranquility.
Definitely will return, the 3 days here were not enough.

Beautiful resort right on the beach

Besides the air conditioning not working, which may have just been a broken unit, this place was so nice. It's quaint, quiet and comfortable. You walk out of your room and go right to the beach.

Evening at the oaulie, A nevis institution

We stayed one night at the oaulie though we spend many fun evenings listening to music and days enjoying the beach. The room was ok but could use some love. The air conditioner made noise all night. We love the oaulie , but we would love it more with an update.

Nice hotel on the beach

Great protected bay. Great for swimming. Fun snorkeling, not much to see except conch and starfish. Front desk people were not helpful, did not know where the closest ATM was located. Seemed more interested in their devices.Stacy, however, was a bright light and very helpful and friendly as was John the owner.
The Tuesday night jam was great and welcoming.
