Room must be renewed: windows must be changed with noise proof. We hear everything from the main street and from the hotels in front, no place to put your luggage, no shelves. Bathroom is outdated amenities are a joke.

Hotel in need of some upgrading works

This is among one of the worst hotel that I have ever stayed. The room is dimly lit, carpentry showed signs of aging damage, balcony is coated with dust, no view at all, in close proximity with opposite hotel. Television ancient bulky CRT. Worst is the bed, stained and smelly bed sheets and pillow cases, spring of the mattress totally gone. Towels old, frayed, stained. The bathroom consists of just a shower head, toilet bowl and basin. Rusty joints, mouldy tiles and no hangers to hang anything while taking a shower. No kettle and cups to make a hot drink. Bar below the hotel is not operating.

Good value, great location but a few issues.

The Fundee boutique is a very good value hotel right next to Bangla Road and Patong beach. The staff were mostly very friendly who have no problem with you bringing guests over to stay the night. There were a few problems with the room however. The air conditioning in my room, while very effective seemed to make me ill on the first day so I'm not sure how well maintained it is. When I had a guest over to stay, they also reported the same. Can't say it's the same for all the rooms though. Another issue was that the mattresses on my double bed were basically broken. You'd sink into the middle of them and they offered very poor support. Other than that, all good, complimentary water and clean spacious rooms with a small balcony to hang clothes.

Management Insensitive to Guests

Management mistakenly charged me for one extra night that I could not use because of my scheduled plane ticket leaving the country.

When explained, they understood and agreed I would not be able to use the room. Initially they said they would give me a refund. A few minutes later they rescinded, saying they have a no refund policy.

Thus they kept my money for a room I did not use and they acknowledged I could not use!

I have never before dealt with any business organization that would do such a thing.

There are probably better choices. The room was large and had a balcony but was so close to the next building that I had to use the balcony and crane my neck to see what the weather was like. It was reasonably clean but run down. It wasn't too far to Jung Ceylon shopping centre and even closer to the fresh market.

Clean No Frills hotel

The hotel was relatively clean and had decent sized rooms. The king bed however was two twin mattresses pushed together with a small gap down the middle.
The staff were helpful and were able to book tours, taxis etc however I think they were much more expensive than if we booked from tour companies directly.
The restaurant across the street has karaoke outdoors which was a bit loud even with all the windows closed

FunDee.... wasn't so fun afterall

Totally business oriented. Zero hospitality and not customer oriented.
I stayed with my wife. We had the worst stay in this hotel. Room (301B, standard) was below standard. The window opened in front of another hotel. No privacy. Had to keep checking on the curtains if they were properly closed.
We came at 12:30 PM and asked to check in (check-in time is 2PM). The young boy asked for extra 500 THB for early check-in. Had to wait at the reception area for over an hour. While in bangkok (Hotel Smart Suites), the generous staff allowed for early check in.
The room was not properly cleaned. Had to call the boy to come up and clean the messy room. One of the bed mattress was a bit hard.
The worst thing was that there was no hot water in the bathroom. We stayed for 2 days and the manager did not get it fixed. Just said that engineer is not available on weekends. After a long day at beach tours, a warm bath is necessary to feel fresh. That was the worst part.

Wifi was not so strong. Internet is quite a necessity when you are on international roaming, and you need to connect to your home or search for the nearby attractions. Also, the two internet terminals placed at the reception area were out of order (which were supposed to be working for the guests). Maybe the manager didn't get it fixed too as it was not fetching extra bucks.
Only good thing was its location (which is how the manager is earning)

Just out of the Bangla Road rat race and the noise but less than 10 minutes walk to shopping centre and Bangla Road activities, enough shops within 2 minutes walk or nice restaurants within 5 minutes walk , so convenient and easy for sleep and getting back at night.

Nice hotel, close to Bangla Road.

The hotel is very very good, I was staying at their super luxury room though, which is like in the pictures. The personnel is friendly as pre-mentioned and at no point they tried to sell me any service, although they made me aware they were renting scooters at a very reasonable price. Location wise, it is next to the APK hotel, meaning it is 5 mins walk to Bangla Road, 3 mins walk to Muay Thai stadium and 2 mins away from a Thai food Market with fresh foods and ingredients.
The only downside, was that they never in the 8 days of my stay, changed my sheets! I didn't ask them to be frank, but I wouldn't expect I'd have to, as most of the hotels I've been they change the bed's sheets and covers every 3 days.

I would recommend it to other, and I might stay there again, if I go to Patong (I will ask them to replace the sheets though)

Not really a good experience.....

Booked 2 rooms on 28 Nov through experia (fully Paid), upon arrival on 24 Jan, told us only 1 room available, either me or my friends have to stay at another hotel somewhere nearby. Although promised upgraded the room and provide 3 free breakfast to us, not the compensation that matter, but really cause us many inconveniences.

Btw, the next day when we were having breakfast, they told us only 2 breakfast is provided, mine have to pay cause my room was already \"upgraded\"......

Ok if you are on a budget

My boyfriend and I booked this through Expedia with the flight and hotel included. It wasnt our first choice for hotel, but we wanted to look for something affordable with good reviews. We had booked for the hotel to pick us up from the aiport for 1000 baht (around $25-$30) but no one ever came and when we called the hotel from the airport, the receptionist first said that we had never booked for hotel transport but then 5 min later said \"oh yeah, you did book for transfer\". By then we had been waiting for 20 min so we decided to just ask one of the taxi drivers at the airport. We arrived before check-in (2pm) so we had a few hours to kill. The best part is being able to rent a motorbike from Fundee. We rented one motorbike for 250 baht which is around $8 and you get to keep the bike for 24hrs. We were then able to take the bike around Patong Beach and even to Karon Beach (about 15 min from Patong). The rooms are okay. It was tile floors and the \"king\" bed was just two twin beds pushed together. The beds were pretty hard and uncomfortable but I heard it is like that for most of the hotels in Thailand. Staff speaks okay English and the breakfast was not included with our room. You can find cheaper breakfast at the hotel across from Fundee. If you are looking for a resort type or 4 star hotel, this is not the hotel to stay at. It is almost a hostel feel with private rooms/bathroom.

Great people. Horrible rooms.

The front desk crew was so amazing! The owner (or whom I assume is the owner) is very present and is super helpful! He was there when we checked in and was actively running around to help everyone. He recommended some great activities for us and organized all of our rides.

With that said - our room was horrendous. We had a room right off of the lobby which was horribly loud all night. Not to mention there were no windows and felt like a closet already the noise made it that much worse. Not to mention we woke one morning to find a puddle of water in the middle of our room from our fridge. That isn't even the worst part! The second night we were there we were woken up in our sleep to the sound of some horrible scratching animal sound coming from our ceiling! Between the fears of some drunk person coming into the room and the animal scratching it's way into our room it's safe to say we got very little sleep.

Very good location - 5 minute walk to shopping mall and Bangla Road, 10 minutes walk to beach. Bed very comfortable, room very clean. TV has a number of English speaking channels. Staff - very helpful. Great value for money. One needs to provide ones own international telephone or email devices. Quiet. Safe neighbourhood any hour of the day or night. Nearby main street roadworks generate some dust/mud at times on that street.

We stayed for 6 nights at the Fundee Boutique Hotel - personally I wouldn't recommend Patong to anybody - it was like Blackpool meets Benidorm, however I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Patong and want somewhere quiet to stay - the rooms were a good standard and the hotel was very reasonably priced, the rooms were very clean. The hotel is only a 5 - 10 minute walk to the beach and the main drag of Patong - but is far enough away so you don't get any noise at night

Great affordable hotel with friendly helpful staff

We spent 5 days here and really enjoyed it. The staff are great and it is close enough to the nightlife of patong but far enough away to get some peace. Rooms were cleaned daily, free wife and mineral water daily too along with shower products. Only one little gripe was the double bed was two singles pushed together but not the end of the world and wouldn't expect a small hotel like this to limit their room selections and just have double beds etc. Would stay here again for sure.

location was excellent! saved plenty of money as most places were 2-5 mins walking distance eg Mall (plenty of places to eat, shop and see a movie or 2), Markets (night markets for food were delicious), convenience store, pharmacy, professional massage, Kickboxing stadium, Bangla Rd, Patong beach. Friendly Aussie staff, provided details of good activities and places to eat. Hotel owner organised transport to and from activities and to the airport. Free use of wifi and power adaptor was very useful. highly recommended, great stay, close enough to the nightlife but far enough to get a good nights sleep.

The location of the hotel from the beach is about 2.0 Km. So we have to walk for at least 2 minutes. The best thing about the distance is, you get to walk and sightseeing and feel the infamously busy street and local shops of Patong. So the location is pleasurable. Secondly, we were disappointed when we get to our room after a long journey from the airport to the hotel (1 hour drive by mini van), we were informed by the hotel staff we have to change room due to technical problem. There is no electricity supplied in our room. The sad thing was, there were none superior room available that day,so the hotel gave us Standard Room for substitution. Because we booked our hotel through your website, the hotel can't give us our money back. The standard room is at the ground floor with no windows and balcony which unable us to smoke. Fortunately, the next day, we were finally able to get to our Superior Room. Because of the Owner of the Fundee Hotel was friendly to us, I would gave them 3 stars instead of 4.

Room is of decent size and well-lit. However, the design of the elevator could have been better. You will need to either climb up half a floor or climb down half a floor to reach the elevator doors, which open on either side. That was a bit inconvenient for us particularly as there was no hotel personnel assisting us to carry the heavy luggages.
The regular upkeep and cleanliness is decent. We always got the necessary assistance from the reception.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the BangLa road, the heart of Phuket attractions. you can hire a motorcycle from the hotel. I found most of those to be in very good condition. Be careful to note all pre-existing scratch marks on the motorcycle (the hotel personnel will show you) before you sign on the contract. We had a happy stay overall and would recommend the hotel to a budget traveller.

Exceptional, without fault.. The most bang for your buck you'll ever find. Location is fantastic, staff top notch,in fact they're not just staff they're more like family. Nothing was too hard for these wonderful ambassadors for Phuket. Local info was very handy and made our stay seamless. Wish we could have stayed longer. We chose this hotel based on the excellent ratings it received. We were disappointed with a few things which, done right, could have made out stay a lot nicer.

Upon check-in, the owner/manager was quite rude and abrupt. The other staff, however, were quite helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Almost daily, at least one of the \"fresh\" towels provided had stains on them.

We organized a tour through the hotel reception, which was never booked.

We saw the owner/manager verbally abuse one of his staff.

Although the price is quite good, a few bad incidents ruined our experience at this hotel.

Fundee the little big hotel.

Myself and 3 mates stayed at the Fun Dee for 2 weeks during December. The staff were great and always able to help and cater to our every need whether it was to book a tour or with directions around town. Everything is so close, main shopping centre is literally a 2 minute walk, Bangla road (main street) 2 minute walk as well. The rooms are very well air conditioned (which is needed as it was hot in December), cleaned every day, and even free wifi in our rooms which some hotels didn't offer across the road and it's a great price too.
If you are thinking about staying at the Fun Dee I recommend you do it. It's not somewhere to just lay around in a hotel, but when you do come back from your tours, shopping, partying, beach. It has all the necessities you need. Shower, bed, tv, aircon, wifi.
Elias and his staff are top notch and when you leave you almost feel as part of the little fundee family. Planning my next trip for New Years and will be coming back with 10 people I rate it that much!

This hotel was pretty horrible. We pre-paid for two nights and only stayed one. As soon as we saw the room we starting searching for other options. The \"helpful\" staff must have been off duty during our stay. The kids that checked us in seemed nice enough but had trouble speaking and understanding English. And we literally had to bang on the desk to wake up the guy to check us out. The in-room safe was broken. The shower had mold and there was no curtain so the water went all over the bathroom. The bed had broken springs. The walk to the beach was a bit far but if you want to get off the main drag it is not a bad walk.
We spent two weeks traveling around Thailand and this was the worst hotel the whole trip. It was the only place we stayed in Patong beach, however, so I cannot compare to other hotels within a few miles. We stayed on Phuket but found another area outside Patong to stay for the rest of our stay on the island.

A small Oasis in the Patong madness.

This place is a small little 3 star, a little tough to find. If you give the address to your mini-van driver from the airport, no problems. The room we got had a crummy air conditioner, but they immediately moved us to a better, larger room at once. Maria at the front desk was a doll, and we chatted with her and got got great tips on the area. Patong is a frat house wonderland, not the greatest place to stay unless you like to party. It has become an over-priced, annoying tourist trap in general. BUT, we used as a base, rented a great scooter from the hotel for 10 bucks a day, and cruised to Karon Beach to the South, which is a bit quieter, and also to Laem Sing beach to the North, past Kamala town. THAT beach is the best in Phuket, and once you find it, you will be glad you hassled the hike down to this private cove. Shhhhh its a secret! Anyhow, this is a 3 star hotel, which means the shower has no enclosure in the bathroom, only one room key per couple and no room service, but its a good value in this wacky tourist trap town.

The customer service there was just beyond anything that i could have expected, the staff are so nice and polite and very helpful, the only problem i had was i stayed whilst they were undertaking some renovations so got a little noisy in the afternoon but never interrupted sleep, it was far enough from Bangala Rd that you couldn't hear the music but close and safe enough to walk alone and also a short walk to the shopping centers and anything you might need to see or buy

Newer Hotel Offering Good Value

The room was relatively large with a comfortable king-sized bed and a small balcony. Ancient 17 inch CRT TV had a poor picture, but who goes to Phuket to watch TV? Soundproofing between rooms was barely adequate. Rooms facing the alley had no cell phone reception and, of course, no view. Huge frosted glass window between bathroom and bedroom was unusual, but louvered bathroom door was definitely bad as it allowed odors and noise into the bedroom. Our request for extra pillows was ignored. The Philippino receptionist (really!) was very helpful and all the staff were friendly. Many power outlets for cell phone chargers, computers, etc... The hotel was about two blocks from the giant Jungceylon Shopping Center, three blocks from Bangla Road and five blocks from the beach, but to get to restaurants, tourism sights, etc.. , renting a motorcycle is worthwhile IF you are an experienced rider and stay sober. Overall, we thought the hotel was worth what we paid to stay there and would stay there again if we returned to Phuket.

Nice Cheap Quiet

Very nice staff & not too far away from the main Bangla rd & Jungceylon mall. Scooter hire is cheap, and you can get around anywhere with it. Room spacious, clean and is cleaned daily. Only downside is the construction going on around but you will find there is still alot of construction just about everywhere.

Trip : 4th - 7th September 2012 It was an extremely pleasant stay. The staff are very polite, accomodating, helpful and can speak English very well. The rooms are simple but very clean and well maintained. comfortable beds with clean linens, air-con and in-room toilet with 24/7 hot shower. There's also free wifi in the rooms. But I'm not there to stay in the hotel and use the amenities anyway. Location is convenient with Jungceylon, Banzaan Fresh Market and Soi Bangla all within a short walking distance, but far enough so that it isn't too noisy from all the partying going on at night. Overall it's a fantastic place to stay for a no-frills, free and easy holiday experience. Would definitely recommend it to my friends. Cheers!

Stay was pretty good. No real complaints. Had a small issue with the initial they gave me (the door to the balcony would not lock) but they quickly changed my room (was a lot bigger as well). The receptionists spoke English and were very helpful--suggested places to eat, activities to participate in, places to stay away from and gave advice on things Patong-related!

We paid something like $35-40 per night. The best quality for its money. The staff are so friendly and they will help you with everything.

The only dislike was the shower. It was combined with the toilet with no shower screen/shower box.

The bed was huge, and the balcony was just enough to have a coffee and a smoke in the morning.

The aircon was excellent gave me fantastic +16 in my room.

they even organize the bike hire for your convenience.

This hotel is lady friendly.

AAA+ will return to this hotel next year.

Can't think why you would stay anywhere else

The location is a few minutes from the Walking Street and the beach. The rooms have good decor and are comfortable, with marble floors, flat screen TV's, free WI FI, and a safe in the room. During my trip to Thialand I visited Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattya. The staff was by far the best. They were friendly, responsive, and spoke fluent English. If you are looking for what I was the best bang for the buck I don't think you can find a beter deal

The place feels new and well maintained. The personnel are nice and helpful. The room was clean and nice. The hotel is close to Patong though not that close. It's not as noisy at night as being on the party scene so sleep was good. Free internet with their wifi and complimentary desktops. Will stay again.

In March I travelled back to Thailand for the second time, and went solo after having travelled previously with a group of mates in 2011. I first heard of FunDee through Expedia, and after reading quite a few glowing reviews and being pretty impressed by what I saw in the photos, I thought why not.

And let me say, it turned out to be the best out of the 3 hotels I stayed in elsewhere during my time travelling around Thailand. Such was the level of my satisfaction I not only stayed there during my initial stay in Patong from 4th-8th March, but I also went back and stayed during the last few days of my trip during my return stay in Patong prior to heading home.

First off, the staff at the front desk where VERY helpful. Not only that, but most importantly, they were quite friendly and really made you feel at home, and if you had any questions or queries they were only happy to help. Ended up having lengthy conversations with the guys and girls at the front, and were awesome people. Joe is one in particular that made my stay a joy. Awesome bloke!

The rooms were very clean, and quite spacious. The bathroom was a nice size, and the shower worked like a charm. After room service had cleaned the room, everything was left spotless. I remember instances where they'd even folded up the pile of clothes i'd left on the floor! The aircon was very efficient and effective! 5 minute walk from Bangla as well!

Can't recommend this hotel enough. Will be back here for sure! Cheers! :)

My husband and I stayed at the FunDee Boutique Hotel for eleven nights in January 2012. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were pleasant and helpful and spoke very good English.

The Hotel is in good condition and was much more than we expected for budget accommodation. The location is fantastic, very close to Junceylon Shopping Centre, Bangla Road, Patong Hospital and Patong Beach.

I recommend this hotel for those looking for reasonably priced accommodation. The room was cleaned daily and the hotel laundry service was only 70 Baht per kilogram.

The only issue that I had with this hotel was that the hot water did not always work for the shower. There were a few nights where we had to have cold showers.

I picked this hotel because I wanted a 3 star priced hotel that was conveniently located. The hotel was right at the top of Bangla road and gave easy access to the nightlife and the beach while being on one of the main roads that took you in and out of Patong. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was really a pleasant surprise. Very friendly and very helpful. Arriving with 3 star expectations, I was pleasantly surprised by the room and service.

Fun Dee Boutique Hotel Kathu Phuket

The Fun Dee Hotel appears a little out of the way of things when you first arrive but in reality is a short and very safe walk fom all the local must see sights.
The Hotel is very modern and spotlessly clean. The rooms are the same standard and have all you need for your stay including a room safe.
I have to say the most outstandiing aspect of my stay at the hotel,(four nights) was the initial welcome and continuing high level of attention from every member of the hotel staff enquiring as to my well being, any time,day or night. As a lone traveller and only four night to see the sights the staff were always happy to chat and help me make the most of my visit, on a friendly basis and not just doing their jobs.
I don't usually see early mornings in Thailand (for obvious reasons)but one morning I went on an Adventure Day ,which included a Rope Slide, White Water Rafting, Quad Biking and other activities and was enjoyable and safe.
I was very fortunate that two members of Fun Dee hotel staff (Mod the lady manager and Jackie another staff member ) also came along on the trip on a fact finding mission for themselves and the hotel
We struck up an instant friendship and enjoyed all of the activities together......laughing and screamig !!
I imagine other people on the trip must have thought we were old friends we had so much fun together.
It will always be the highlight of my stay and I will never forget it or forget Mod or Jackie.
The rest of the staff Joe Joe,Jo,Fern and Tanya I will not forget either.
I also rented one of the hotel motor cycles which was in very good order and safe.
I had minor problem on first night with a faulty aircon and as soon as i reported it next morning it was fixed.
I ejoyed my stay at Fun Dee very much and after only four nights stay I felt quite emotional leaving
such a special group of people that make the hotel a special place.Thank you all !

The FunDee bills itself as a higher end boutique with personal service in a great location - but it isn't. The location, while OK, is pretty far from the beach and not quite in the \"center of everything\" in Patong. If you want to go explore the Patong nightlife and have an easy trip back to your hotel, there are many better options. It's also a hefty cab or tuk tuk ride to the nicer beaches at Kata or Karon which can take some time during (often) heavy traffic. Also, the hotel is down a small street away from the main drag so even if you have a balcony, you have a view of the building across the street.

The hotel staff is probably the high point - they are extremely friendly, professional, and really want your stay to go well however there was just mishap after mishap. We arrived late on Sunday and there were multiple issues with the room. We reserved (and paid more for) a deluxe room but there was nothing deluxe about it. There was no balcony. No LCD TV. The shower cap wasn't secured and had to be held up as we showered. There was a roach on the floor of the shower when we arrived. The shower itself is part of the bathroom (not separated) so the entire room (toilet, sink etc.) gets soaked whenever you shower. There was no laptop safe. There were no extra towels or pillows ever during the whole time we stayed there.

For what we paid, we were pretty disappointed. The swanky-ish lobby and attentive staff helped a little, but not enough to make us want to return.

If you're looking for a good quality, small boutique hotel in the heart of Patong, then the Fundee will not disappoint. The Australian / Lebanese owner takes great care to ensure his guests are well looked after by employing well educated staff, all of whom speak good English and are attentive to your every need. The hotel itself is conveniently located near to the main shopping and entertainment centers but just far enough away to avoid the all night noise from the bars. It has been recently renovated..so everything works...and the decor is contemporary and modern. The hotel also provides a full range of additional services such as laundry, excursions, motorbike rental but be prepared to pay a little over the going rate of other local providers.

Don't bother

Hydrogen sulfide gas (sewer gas) wafting up stairwells through the open lobby so that when you open the door to your room it fills with gas. Very smelly and if you are sensitive to smells as I am then stay somewhere else. Also heavy construction during the days in November, 2011 so don't expect to sleep in with a hangover. Also, there was a plumbing issue during my stay that left us without a shower for about 24 hours.

I took a chance and booked this hotel just based solely on the name and i got pretty lucky. I would stay again. The location is perfect. The rooms are spotless. You are within a 5-10 min walk of everything. Bangla rd, open air food market, the shopping mall, several dozen restaurants, thai boxing arena and even Patong beach(20 min walk). If you do book a room spend an extra few bucks and upgrade to a suite. I had the standard room and it was on the first floor which was very noisy.

Great location, Great price, Great Service

I stayed at Fundee for 7 nights with a friend of mine just recently. At first we thought it was a little out of the way but were pleasantly surprised to find that it was within close walking distance of Jungceylon and Bangla Road.

The rooms are spacious, the staff are friendly and the owner George hangs around quite a bit and is very helpful with ideas/suggestions of what to do during the day around Phuket.

You can also conveniently hire a Moped from the hotel for 300 baht a day as well as have your washing taken care of at 70 baht per kilo.

And for the price, it's an absolute steal.

Hotel Fundee in Patong

the hotel is good overall on it's price. hotel staff are helpful.
only one thing, there is only one type of rooms on website in this hotel, which is deluxe, but when we got there we were told if we wanted to upgrade our room to deluxe o luxury rooms(dont remember exactly how they call it), newly decorated, bigger and with better facilities; and we realized the pictures showed on web actually are these rooms, that was why we see our rooms different from the pictures on website.

the hotel is very near to the biggest shopping mall in Phuket, there are lots of restaurants in it, you can get almost everything you need there. on the way to Patong beach, you will pass the most popular street in Patong.

sometimes the bath water got cold when we took a shower.

overall, the hotel is good for its value.
