Room was quite small and dark, felt like a university dorm. Location wise it was great, right next to the station but i wouldn't say that this is a 4 star hotel. The shower pressure was really weak and it kept hissing, every other second it was change between scorching hot and then cold, the stand/bar which holds the shower head was also broken and loose from the wall.

Everything was good except for the wifi. There was no wifi in the room, although they claim otherwise. The only place I could get wifi was at the lobby and sometimes at the end of the corridor where the stair cases were. The staff didn't do anything to fix the situation. For this reason I cannot recommend this hotel. I could also hear too much sound from the rooms next door.

The room was extremely comfortable and clean. We were very impressed by the water pressure in the shower, and the fact we were able to check in an hour early for free.

The breakfast was disappointing. We don’t think it was worth paying extra for. Despite there being a lot of choice, the hotel seemed to be understaffed and so the food was not replenished frequently enough, so no matter what time you went for breakfast, there were only small amounts of food to be had. Every type of coffee was served lukewarm. The restaurant is in dire need of more staff - the poor man who was working down there was rushed off his feet trying to help everyone.

We booked a superior room, only to find that the lift did not go to that floor. There was no mention of this when we booked. As I have mobiltiy isssues, this was unacceptable, so we had to have a standard room. We didn't get a refund, but we offered daily breakfast (which was supposed to be included anyway). The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the bathroom tiny and difficult to enter and exit and there was construction work going on, around the entrance to the hotel and outside our room from 7:00am each morning. There were no dining facilities apart from breakfast. The staff were very friendly and hard-working. This was not the standard we expected from a 4 star hotel that cost nearly $300/night!

There were a bunch of homeless all around the property, which made me feel unsafe when I arrived in the midnight of the check-in date. The parking is very inconvenient, since it is not located onsite, it is a tiny closed spot shared with an apartment building located one block away, and this particular situation was not specified when I booked it.
The advertisement on Expedia says the hotel is located 10 minutes walk from the Duomo of Milan, when it is actually located 39 minutes walking from there.

Well located for metro and bus access. Friendly and very helpful staff. Rooms are not very sound proof, doors slam shut and can hear neighbouring rooms talking. Limited vegan breakfast options. Though they have soy milk but you have to ask, there is nothing that tells you that.

Hotel location outside of centre but Metro access at the front door meant a 2 euro, four station trip and your'e there. Go a bit further and you're at the main train station for the same price. Nice hotel appealing to the business traveller it would seem but fine for us as tourists. Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Plenty of bars/restaurants within easy walk.

Everything was great.

Very good city hotel for short break in Milan. Immediate locality has very little to offer but quick access to many Milan sights and attractions. Parking very limited : make sure you book if you need it. Breakfast absolutely brilliant value at €4. Staff really friendly and helpful. Will happily stay again.

Good value and great location

Good location, right next to Metro stop. Quiet area, but several good restaurants close by. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was not included with my Hotels.com rate, but apparently it is for some rates. In any case, it was only 4 euros and well worth it. The beds weren't the best, kind of hard, but not too bad. Did not like the hard pillows though. A/C worked good (rare in Italy/Europe from my experience).

The room is cramped and hot, very hard mattress gave me back ache. The AC never worked. The breakfast very basic and the coffee is always cold. The front desk staff were not helpful at all, they would not recommend anything. I do not know how this place get the 4 stars rating?

Great, clean hotel with a friendly staff, comfortable beds, and extraordinarily easy access to the rest of the city via the Lodi TIBB Milan Metro Line 3 (yellow) station literally right next to the hotel, or through quick 10-to-40-minute walks to anywhere in the southern half of the city core, from adjacent Porta Romana, to the Naviglio Grande. The minibar is well-stocked, but an Esselunga grocery store is just a few blocks up Viale Umbria if you need something more.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The only issue I had was building work in the corridor (right outside my room) starting at 8:10 am!!! This was far to early especially as I had a arrived late at the hotel, luckily the second morning I was up earlier

Good hotel in a great position with varied breakfasts

Booked in error as I thought it was next to the Central station but it turned out to be a great mistake. Hotel is right next to Lodi TBB tube which is on the main metro route to all the sites in town and its a nice friendly, safe part of the city. Friendly, helpful staff and all speak perfect English which was very handy.

Great selection at breakfast (only 3 Euro supplement) with cake (!), pastries, meats, cheese, fruit etc though I'm not convinced as peas as a side dish to scrambled eggs.

Great fish restaurant, Ivan and Frank's just over the road and others easily accessible via metro too

First, I was told that my reservation was for one person and that I would need to pay 100 euro for the 2nd person. As soon as I showed my reservation on my iPhone showing 2 guests, they quickly back pedaled. Not sure if this was a freak accident or an intentional fleecing of a tired American.
After that, all else went smoothly. Beds were very hard and pillows even harder, but it was clean and had tons of shampoo & such. No washcloths, which is not surprising. The breakfast was superb though- eggs, cereal, rolls, Danish, great coffee/expresso!
Hotel is located close to the metro which was very useful.

Reasonably priced and well located

This hotel is located just outside a metro station (although you don't hear it) and within short walking distance of some nice restaurants. It was ideally situated for a business meeting I was attending and is only a short metro ride into the centre of Milan. I stayed at the end of July and the rate was very reasonable. My room was well appointed and clean. Breakfast was an additional cost but was only three euros for a wide selection of food, both hot and cold, juices, coffee, tea, etc. Checking in and out was straightforward and there was no queuing at reception. The staff were polite and helpful and I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay. There is free Wi-Fi in all the rooms and computers and printers in the foyer that are free to use.
The only negative comment I can make is that although a bar was advertised, I haven't found it yet and this was the second time I've stayed at this hotel. It would be nice to relax with a nightcap before bed.

Nice hotel about 50 feet from metro

Nice big room. Buffet breakfast was wonderful. They will bring a coffee/tea maker to your room with cookies for no charge. Bathroom was nice and large although shower was a little small. Great restaurant a short walk away. Easy to get anywhere in Milano with the metro being so close.

Convenient and basic for american standards

The room was very small and dated. Not the cleanest for a 4 star hotel with 4 star price. I would grade it at 3.5 star at best. It was comfortable for hot summer and the beds were clean which is what i cared for after a long drive. The location is perfect. Its right outside the underground train going to the city center.Takes about 15 mins to get to duomo. We were also able to find quite a few restaurants within a mile walk :) sorry we like to walk in a new city. Its the best way to get the vibe of a city. One thing i was disappointed with was the 20/- euro i had to pay for parking. I thought parking was included when i searched. Not sure if i should blame the website that i booked through or the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful though.

Really nice hotel with lovely breakfast. It was a bit out of the centre of the city but right near the subway which was fine. Only problem was there weren't many restaurants in the vicinity so at the end of a long day sightseeing, we couldnt be bothered to go back into the city for food and ended up going to a takeaway pizza place nearby that had a few tables outside. In actual fact, the food and service there was lovely, so we were happy anyway! Really nice staff and had a nice tea and coffee tray in the room.

This is the first time I have stayed at the Hotel Major and I was so pleasantly surprised I have recommended that my wife and her friend accompany me the next time . Only 100 metres from the Metro which is 4 stops from The Duomo so while I do business during the day they can easily sightsee .

Very convenient for the Metro into the city centre

This hotel was originally booked for a business trip but when the meeting was cancelled I decided to use the booking anyway for a leisure break. The hotel is conveniently located very close to the Metro line that takes you into the centre of Milan and from there, there are good links all around the city. The immediate vicinity is not somewhere I would choose to stay for a leisure break and there are few amenities within walking distance. The hotel has no bar or restaurant and a bottle of water from the mini bar in the room costs over 12 Euros!
The staff were efficient and there was no queue at any time at reception but you couldn't describe them as friendly.
The room was of a good size, clean and with a good supply of essentials except tea and coffee making facilities. These can be provided foc if requested, so why not supply them anyway?
Traffic noise can be heard from the street below even from the 6th floor but the bed was comfortable and there was a good selection of food at breakfast.

It is close to subway - a big plus. We got exactly what we needed 2 rooms with a door between them as we travelled with 2 teenage girls. Good breakfast options. Friendly staff and helpful. Clean and neat. Overall it was what we expected to get for the money. Definitely would recommend.

Best location due to Metro Stop out front

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here in the past 4-6 years. We are staying there again on return trip. Comfortable but small rooms. Great breakfast. Location is fantastic for public transport to city center. Most staff are nice but 1 staff was a bit curt and annoyed when we asked too many questions; not very patient. Others were fine.

Great Location!

This hotel was right next to the Metro Station. The room was beautiful...not to mention the bathroom, which was breath-taking! The breakfast was delicious, specially drinking a Cappuccino every morning during our stay. Definitely staying at this hotel next time we return to Milan!!! Great location as the Metro Station is literally about 50-feet away....safe location as well. The Staff was also friendly. The only thing I would want to add is that the bed-mattress is not very comfortable, other than that, I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

We were very comfortable at this hotel. Its big advantage is that you walk out the door and straight into the Metro! The fact that it is a little out of central Milan matters not at all. The breakfast provided had a good choice of dishes - something for everyone, and cheerful service as well! Service at reception was excellent at all times and our room, although a standard one, was very comfortable with free WiFi. The only slight problem was that the newly renovated bathroom had not had the tiling done properly, so water ended up over the floor instead of down the drain. There is no evening restaurant here but we were sent to a local restaurant that was top quality - not what you would expect in this area. We went there twice in 5 days.

Whilst the hotel is out of the city centre it has a Metro station (Yellow line) outside the door and is four (4) stations away from Duomo, the centre of Milan. The metro is very easy to use.
An interesting city with many sights to see, time spent there was enjoyable.

This hotel is located right next to a subway station so you can get to the middle of Milan in 15-20 minutes (1.80 euro) which is very convenient. the street below is a little noisy so you must seal the window at night. The breakfast was very satisfying and staff were kind. There's a coffee machine in the lobby that didn't work during out stay (48 hours) although they promised that it'll be fixed in 24 hours (but anyway it was a surprise for us, they didn't write it anywhere that a coffee machine is there so... whatever). Would absolutely recommend this hotel. also has desktop and printer for guests use for free.

No way a 4 star hotel

I am not sure how the Italian rating system works, but to call this a 4 star hotel is outrageous. It is a good 2 star, maybe barely 3, but no way 4 star. The Grand Visconti one half block down the street is definitely 4 is there is no comparison between the two.

Room was tiny, but the right size for a 2-3 star. The shower was a 24x24 inch afterthought in a corner of a bathroom one person can barely fit into. Morning shower leaves the room flooded. Breakfast was disappointing.

If you assume this is a decent 2 star and can get a good rate, then it should match expectations.
