We stayed at Lago Mar Resort and had a wonderful experience. Everything was excellent—from the beautiful grounds and clean rooms to the outstanding service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we truly enjoyed every moment. We highly recommend this resort and would love to come back again!

The property rooms were slightly dated but everything was in good repair and working order and very clean and the pools and ocean access were fantastic. The staff was helpful and friendly and we had a great time during our stay. It was not in the middle of all the city attractions - but that was not something we were looking for. It was perfect for just relaxing on the beach or by a pool. It is definitely suited for families but we were able to enjoy the adult pool and didn’t find the family vibe overwhelming.

I've come here a handful of times, usually bringing my son for a late August trip. This visit was to celebrate his high school graduation, so earlier - end of May. I reserved an executive suite and was quite disappointed at how dated and worn the room was. It was depressing. The worst was a pillow had several long hairs on it, leaking tub faucet, a dead moth-type bug in the bathroom (it's Florida) and ants in the bathroom and bedroom. When I woke up to an ant on my arm, I freaked out thinking it was my worst nightmare - a bed bug. I began to wonder if all the bedding could be dirty, not just the one pillow. It bothered me so much. I contemplated checking out early and chalking it up as a loss, but I decided to talk to staff who kindly agreed to transfer us to a new room. While a smaller room, not a suite, it was much better and similar to past visits. That said, it was a tad outdated. The pool was filled with dead bugs and so much sand. I gave up and went inside. Everyone was friendly, even security who banged on the door at 1105 asking when I was leaving although the front desk agreed earlier to letting us stay an extra hour (12pm). Parking also had security standing outside, different from past visits but no issue as they must be addressing some issues with random visitors. I don't think we'll return for a sixth visit. Lago Mar has passed its prime and there are nicer, similarly priced resorts. I am very grateful for the memories and will hope mgmt invests in renovations.

If you like ocean views without cruises and container ships constantly lining up to get into Port Eveglades, this is not your place. The beach is clean. The hotel is very family oriented.

Checked out of the family owned Lago Mar to go on the Destiny. It was highly recommended to stay here. Not coming back. I think it’s more suitable for larger parties and people who want a lot of activities before the cruise. I just wanted rest and maybe to go down to the beach for a little. They charge for beach chairs which is interesting considering a standard room with no view here is $300 and the rooms are stuck in the 90’s (although I like feeling like I’m in the Golden Girls). As a solo female traveler, this is not the one for me. I booked a smaller room because I rest better if I can see all of the exits. They put me in a larger suite (although they said this is a standard room), and I couldn’t rest. I researched the rooms and watched so many videos and nowhere did it say these larger rooms were standard. They just put me in the worst room is all and wanted the argument that I was I a larger room. They do put a $75 hold on your credit card for beach chairs, food, Evian water in room, etc, and the food here is overpriced and average. I got the restaurant salmon and crab cakes. The salmon was okay, and there were steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. There were only two okay crab cakes. Spent $50 on that. Would have been better off door dashing.

The room was big and comfortable but definitely a bit outdated. We didn’t mind it. We even got a bit of an ocean view from the balcony when we looked to the left. Food was ok except for at the fine dining where it was subpar. Pools were fine as well. Staff was mostly helpful. The one problem we had was that they kept putting holds of hundreds of dollars on our card even though they told us it was only going to be $75 a day. (2 night stay) When we confronted them, they said that it was just a hold and that when we checked out only the amount we used would be charged. Well they charged everything then refunded us later. Thankfully, we don’t have an issue with our credit card limit but this could be a bad situation for some other ppl. Very bad front of house procedures. Just a warning to those who might not have a high limit on their cards or were hoping to use that money on something else right away. The refund could take days to get back to you account. Overall would recommend for a short stay but might consider someplace else if the trip was longer.

This is a jewel, minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ft Lauderdale. The large and comfortable suites feel a little vintage, but not tired.

The food and service are great. Both a family pool and adult pool have plenty of seating and a tiki bar with great views of the ocean.

We had a great stay at Lago Mar! Loved the ocean view room, the relaxed vibe, clean rooms, and very helpful staff throughout our stay. The pools and private beach access were excellent, and the property was very stroller friendly while traveling with our infant. We also appreciated being able to use DoorDash deliveries to reception and made good use of the kitchenette, microwave, and dishes provided in the room.

The only slight downside is that the hotel is a bit farther from Las Olas Blvd and the more active restaurant areas, so you’ll likely need to walk/Uber for more dining options. But that also makes the hotel quieter and more relaxing overall.

The resort was absolutely beautiful!
The scent they pump through was so wonderful we had to get the diffuser from the gift shop to take home with us.
The ladies at the “soda shop” for breakfast were fabulous- my kids had to go back the next morning. We played a lot of pickleball and enjoyed the fantastic pool. We only stayed 2 nights before a cruise, and will definitely be back!

My room did not really have an ocean view. It had more of the Bay view. It was big and comfortable. I love staying at this hotel however, the beach chairs have become out of control expensive if you want to sit next to the water.

My wife and I are local to the Ft Lauderdale area, and wanting to spend a couple of days at a resort by the beach, we were drawn to Lago Mar. The prices seemed reasonable, having free parking and no resort fee, so on the surface, it was already a cut above any resort you'll find along the Southeast Fl coast. It's not until you check in that you discover that they do not allow personal beach chairs, or umbrellas. Naturally, if you want sun protection, you'll need to opt to rent the umbrella and chairs, which will run you $32 for the umbrella , and $10-15 each for the chairs. You will also be socked with a 20% \"service charge\". TOTAL $66. So much for no resort fee!
Tried to get a refund since, due to weather, we were only able to use these for one hour! I was told that this concession was run by a third party, and I would need to talk to them. That was ok but since they left early for the day, I called the desk one more time, wondering if they could at least give me a credit voucher for food and such. Was immediately told no. Up to this point, I was as nice as humanly possible, but it was evident they didn’t want me pursuing the matter. So the no resort fee is a farce, hidden behind amenity charges that are forced on you, since we’re not allowed to use our own chairs and umbrellas, coolers, nor even a sandwich and drink on the beach. And the cost of $66 fo a day’s use of umbrellas and chairs is exorbitant. Despite the place being nice, no, we will NOT be returning!

The hotel was nice and our room was clean and comfortable. Check-in was easy and they let us use the pool before our room was ready. 4pm is very late for check in. The staff serving us at the adult pool and the pool bar were quick and kind.
They say it's a beach resort, and there are a few chairs right in the sand, but if you actually want to go down by the beach/water, you must pay for chairs.
Free parking is a great perk- but this hotel is not walkable so you need a car or taxi to get anywhere.
Definitely would recommend- felt like vacation vibes.

Everyone seems to say the place is dated, and it is, but it’s not tacky. The staff go out of their way for you, and I have no idea if they are faking or sincere, but they all genuinely seem to love it there. The bedroom windows face the hallway, so if you open the shutters you become a peep show. The vent is in the living area, so the bedroom takes quite a while to cool while anyone in the living area freezes to death. I loved the coffee they give, but it’s a keurig, so one cup at a time. The security level is concerning. Doors open outward with the hinges exposed to any passerby, and there was a man who I assume was mentally ill yelling on the beach for hours before he was addressed. The design of the door prevents you from securing it if you felt unsafe. The bed, and pillows, and shower were great. The beach is wonderful as are the pools. The breakfast buffet was amazing. Some of the smaller things are nice, while others just feel wrong. Such as bottles of water left in your room that are $5/ if you open them. This could be an amazing place for a family, but due to the very serious security risks I can’t recommend it.

The pools were beautiful. Grounds were lovely. Lots of chairs at the pool. Room was very comfortable. Staff was nice. The beach looked amazing but $32 a day for an umbrella plus between $10 and $32 per day for a chair each plus gratuity per day was out of our budget. I was annoyed with it. The bathroom fan was extremely loud. And the eggs they served were not real, they were egg beaters.

This resort was the perfect get away as all of my kids had something to do. Besides relaxing by the pool and beach this resort offers so many activities for kids and adults too! The property location and condition were very good.
Our room was a mini suite, which was beautiful, fairly well appointed, and we overlooked over the pool area and could see the ocean in the horizon.
The issue is there were a ton of kids at the resort. My guess is that Lago Mar is a precursor or a day after property for those that enjoy cruising out of Fort Lauderdale. We were there for three days and could not get a seat at the pool. There is a children’s pool with a ton of kids and an adult pool that is nowhere near big enough.
If you want to go to the beach, there is only one company that you are allowed to rent umbrellas and chairs from. One umbrella and two chairs is $62 per day plus gratuity. So if you’re staying for a few days, do the math…
The ownership needs to reevaluate some of the real estate within the resort area and allocate rarely used ball courts for additional pool space.
The director of Food and beverage was fantastic and bourbon expert! He was great. Thank you Dante!

The hotel and pool area is very nice but busy, need to get sun beds early if you want some. The room was nice with comfy beds but with a connecting door you can hear noise from the next room including in our case a crying baby and loud mother. For the price you might expect a free bottle of water included but they’re $5 each.

Room was clean AC in the living room was very cold not very strong in the bedroom. Had to maintain door open to try to get some air from the living room into the bedroom to try to sleep comfortably biggest drawback is when you want to watch TV to wind down the Chromecast only available feature built into the TV does not work properly . Does not stay connected so you cannot watch Netflix or prime video or anything properly . Lago mar needs to upgrade their televisions to have these apps readily available where you can sign in with their own accounts to Netflix Prime Video and so forth to be able to watch .TV function is basically useless unless you want to pay for a premium movie

The best family vacation so far!
The location was beautiful! The cleanliness of the rooms and the resorts overall was exceptional! It was very peaceful place. No loud parties and music.
They thought of everything! As funny as it sounds I love that they even had a scale in the room :) Everything is so convenient at this place so you just leave your worries at home and enjoy your time there. We love the history of this place and that it’s family owned. A lot of the staff there works for decades which itself speaks a lot about this place and the owners. This was our first time there but we fell in love with this place and we are committed moving forward to visit there at least once a year if not more.
