Lovely small hotel

We enjoyed our stay! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good. The hotel is very well located - a 15 minute walk to the main square with the Belfry. The room itself was a little small and the shower was a hose with a head that you have to hold. This all was fine for us but be aware if it’s an issue for you.

We enjoyed talking with the owners and learning about the area. Mark was able to get my husband on the local golf course and arranged the tee time, the clubs and the taxi. The breakfasts are so wonderful here. And the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms are sparkling clean! Really enjoyed staying 3 nights here.

We had an amazing experience at Ter Duinen. We traveled with two teens and booked the quadruple room. It was a great size for all of us. We took advantage of the parking. It is covered spots very close to the hotel.
The breakfast is fantastic! Fresh bread, fruit, yogurt, eggs, ham and cheese. It felt like a bed and breakfast.
We thought it might be a little too far from the center, but it was a perfect location. Right along the canal, within walking distance to everything, and away from the massive crowds of the city center.
We absolutely loved this place and will definitely stay again when we return.

We loved our stay at Hotel Ter Duinen! Tastfully decorated converted building with friendly service at a family-run hotel right in Bruges. We unloaded our luggage right outside the hotel, then parked our car just outside Bruges at a free lot that the owerner told us about. Took about 15-20 minutes to walk back to the hotel. The included breakfast at the hotel is gorgeous: croissants, meat, cheese, fruit, eggs, buns, fresh jam, tea, coffee, danishes - all served in a lovely dining space indoors or a stunning courtyard outside. Outside the Bruge walls we visited the Passchendaele museum (highly recommend), Tyne Cot cemetery and many Canadian war memorial sites. Within the walls we did the canal tour and a bike tour that took us to Damme where we got to explore a working windmill. Throughly enjoyed both tours. We walked aimlessly and explored. Bruges is a must see, and Hotel Ter Buinen is a great place to rest your head.

The BEST

Where to start? We stayed in 5 hotels throughout our honeymoon and this was the best! The rooms are a bit dated but SO charming, the view from our window was to die for, we felt like we were in a fairytale, or a postcard or ... just gorgeous to wake up to that. Spectacular breakfast (4 months later, my husband still talks about how lavish and tasty it was), and the attention and service they provided made us feel so special. We WILL go back someday, for sure.

Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms, located next to the canal.

Our room was at the rear of the property on the top floor and had a great view. Our bathroom also had a rainshower (which we hadnt expected) and this was a lovely surprise.

Breakfast was served in the beautifully decorated dining room, which was light and airy. The owners had decorated the fireplace with a seasonal display of autumn leaves, pumpkins and squashes - which was a lovely touch. The breakfast itself was perfect. It is a contintental buffet with fresh fruit, meats, cheeses and breads. With a hard boiled egg and croissants brought to the table fresh for you.

We had a wonderful stay here and would definitly return to Hotel Ter Duinen. Thank you for a lovely stay.

So welcoming and stylish, you won't regret it.

For us this was a perfect stay, such a treat. The hotel is spotless, the decor faultless and the bed was the most comfortable we've ever stayed away from home in. My husband had the all clear from cancer the week before and was given the thumbs up to travel so we needed a quiet break and this hotel ticked all the boxes. It's quiet central location to the main town is ideal and it's in a very quiet location with a canal right outside the front. The staff were all so welcoming without being overpowering. Breakfast was superb, fruit,cereals,croissants fabulous bread with various cheeses and hams and sweet spreads. All the staff speak various languages fluently, amazing to hear them switch from to another without a pause. We also added the car parking which was a great idea as we had our own garage, a little tight for our E class but my husband got out easily. The 2 guys at reception separately recommended places close by for us to visit, if you want ideas don't hesitate to ask. One evening we sat in the courtyard out the back with a glass of wine, it was bliss, beautiful garden. Air con was available which we gladly accepted. Cannot recommend this hotel enough as long as you are not expecting bright lights and bingo, bring a book, comfortable shoes and a smile.

My family of 4 (kids ages 12 and 15) loved our stay at Ter Duinen. The small and charming hotel is a gorgeous 10 minutes walk along a canal from most of the tourist spots in Bruges and so away from the noisy crowds. Our room was clean and comfortable (and air conditioned which mattered a lot the week we were there in August). Breakfast was fantastic too.

We stayed here for two nights while traveling to Bruges. This hotel is quaint and very charming. The breakfast was very good, served in a beautiful dining room. The hosts were wonderful especially when we had a medical emergency and Marc went above and beyond to help us out. I would recommend staying here if you travel to Bruges. 10-15 min walk to the city center.

BEWARE the fine print

Before booking, check out their harsh cancellation policy. They emphatically do NOT make exceptions for extenuating circumstances beyond the guest's control, like a flight cancellation, etc. (as you can probably guess, I learned this the hard way). If there is ANY chance your plans might change, even slightly, book at one of the other lovely hotels in Bruges.

Here's what happened to me: When my flight was cancelled the day of my scheduled arrival at the hotel, I informed the hotel immediately that I would be a day late due to the cancellation, and moreover I offered to extend my stay by 1 night on the other end, so that they would not lose any money from the adjustment. Instead of accepting this courtesy, they impolitely informed me that I would be charged full price for the night I was missing, no matter what I did.

This was after they questioned whether I was really me, and expressed skepticism as to whether my flight had actually been canceled.

I would never stay at a hotel that treats people this way. No amount of historical charm can overcome such a complete lack of decency, and class.

Perfect Location for Bruges

We spent 2 days and 1 night in Bruges. Side trip from Amsterdam. So happy we booked our 1 night at Ter Duinen Hotel. We had a car and knew to reserve ahead for a parking spot in their garage area. Thankfully we did. Hard to park in Bruges. We were greeted by very pleasant staff who helped us plan out the sites to see. The hotel is quaint with old world charm. Elevator to our rooms, clean comfortable beds. Small rooms but you are staying in a beautiful historic medieval town. Easy walk to the main square. Actually an easy walk to anywhere in Bruges. 10 minutes in each direction gets you around. For dinner (Sunday evening many of the fine dining restaurants are closed) we went to a wonderful pub right down the street from the hotel. Breakfast at Ter Duinen was perfect. Beautiful dining room, table set beautifully, fine china, plentiful buffet and delicious fresh croissants and pastries. My husband enjoyed the living room by the garden for his early morning coffee. Friendly staff, very helpful in assisting with all our needs and directions. Can't wait to return and spend more time in Bruge.

3 night trip to enjoy the beautiful architecture of Brugge. Hotel Ter Duinen is a little jewel a 20 minute walk or a 10 minute bus ride from the centre of town. Big fully air conditioned bedroom, nice big bathroom with a wonderful Monsoon shower head. Superb breakfast food selection, as much or as little as you wish, fresh squeezed orange juice and soft boiled eggs also. If you drive a car there, there is, for a small charge, a fully covered and lockable garage.
A charming and very hospitable host & hostess with good advice and help if required.

A perfect base for beautiful Bruges

A lovely little family run hotel situated on a quiet canal, 10 minutes saunter from the centre of town. The view out of our window with the ever moving water and wonderful bruges style houses opposite greeted us every morning and heralded another great day. The dining room is exquisitely period and the experience of breakfasting there is a great set up for another stylish day in Bruges. The owners and staff could not be more charming or helpful - I will personally be recommending this hotel to all my friends and family.

Nice enough hotel, too far away from the 'action'

Let's face it, you don't go to Brugge to party, it is a quiet town, so for us, this hotel was too far away from the \"action\". The hotel people are nice enough and attentive and the other room might be fine, but we had a loft that had a light come on every time we rolled over in bed (we did take the light out but the noise was still very loud).

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff, particularly the husband and wife team who are the owners of this nice facility, were very helpful. It is a little outside of the center of town, but very easy to get to on foot or by bus. Less than a ten minute walk from the center and right in front of a bus stop in a quiet section of town, right next to a nice canal. If you like small nice hotels owned by local folks who are very friendly and helpful, this hotel is a good choice.

Nice hotel away from the crowds

My husband and I spent a weekend in May at Ter Duinen. It is a lovely little inn with a delicious breakfast. The front desk/foyer is small, so more than a few people checking in at once makes it seem cramped. That aside, the employees were very, very friendly and helpful. The check in was efficient. Our room, on the first (American 2nd) floor was nice; not much of a view though. The furnishings were not lavish, basic but comfortable. The bathroom was roomy and the water pressure good. The hotel is on the bus route to/from the train station and a mere 10 minute walk away from the main square. It is a very pleasant walk along the canal. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel in a wonderful city

A gem of family run hotel, located alongside of a canal, close but not too close to the tourist areas in the lovely city of Bruges. Although this hotel is classed as 'three-star' it compares favourably with many four star establishments we have stayed on our travels. Personalised service and intimate feel to this place far outweighs what you would get in corporate chains hotels.

Wi-fi was excellent, breakfast was our taste (we like continental style food anyway) and room we stayed in was large for a family room with sizeable bathroom. TV was a bit small in comparison to technologies of late but this was OK as we spent most of our time wondering around Bruges and its many areas of interest. Our kids enjoyed the stay (eight and 13 years old) although we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel but wondered in and around Bruges and its many attractions.

Hints:
- Lovely pub about 5mins away along the same street towards the town centre
- Most shops are closed on Sundays and public holidays
- The hotel offers garage parking a few minutes away

Recommended for like-minded people.

Enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel owners and their staff were wonderful and very helpful. Our room was very clean and modern. The breakfasts were superb and the service was great. We like giving our business to smaller operators if we can and in this case, it was a wise choice. The hotel is not right in the thick of things but to walk along the canal which is in front of the hotel into the Markt area was quite nice indeed. Local flavour is a good thing. I do a great amount of research on where we are staying on holidays and this hotel did not disappoint.

Wonderful family run hotel

We had a marvelous stay. The couple who run the hotel are welcoming and charming; the room was simple but very comfortable; the breakfasts are just as terrific as other reviewers have said; and the sun room is a fantastic place to curl up with a book between explorations of Bruges. The hotel is a nice ten minute-or-so walk from the Market square along a peaceful canal. We will certainly return here if we visit Bruges again!

We were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is compact,beautifully maintained and within a very leasurely stroll of the tourist parts of town. The staff were helpful and friendly and conversations in English were not a problem. Breakfast is perfect with genuine and personalised care for what you wanted Rooms may have been a bit warm but it's easier to cool a room than heat a cold one. Only suggestions would be to have a simple head height fitting added to the bathroom for the hand held shower to make it a more conventional hands free shower. Car Parking at the rate of 18 euro per night was a bit expensive and warrents a negotiation at Booking point or the start of your stay.

Perfect for our one night stay to see Bruges

Very nice little hotel we used as our base to visit Bruges over the weekend. The staff were particularly friendly and made us feel very welcome. They even gave us a lift to the train station instead of letting us get the bus! Rooms were pleasant enough, we had the canal view which was definitely worth the extra money. A wonderful hotel in a quiet part of lovely Bruges

We had a great three night stay at the Hotel Ter Duinen in Bruges. The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us and were only too happy to provide gluten-free food at breakfast for my wife who is coeliac. The hotel is an easy 5-10 minute walk from the centre of the city, so both convenient for all of the main sights but also in a quiet part of town, along a beautiful canal. The rooms were simple but very comfortable and also very clean. We would thoroughly recommend the Ter Duinen and would certainly stay there again next time we were in Bruges.

The staff were extremely helpful, went out of their way to supply soya milk for breakfast and arranged a car share with some other guests when we discovered that there was a train strike and had to get to Brussels for our flight home.

Nice hotel but small rooms, and expensive

Pleasant hotel and nice people but the rooms are basic and small. We paid £175.00 per night, which for that money you would expect a much better room, and breakfast is very poor. You are simply offered a boiled egg. There is a small amount of cereal etc, but for that money you would expect a better room and a much better breakfast.

Lovely little hotel with the friendliest staff

We've been to Hotel Ter Duinen before and the experience was just the same, perfect. We arrived just after ten in the morning and the owner couldn't have been nicer and even though our room was not ready he made a garage available for us to leave our car and took our luggage. When we returned from exploring the delights of Bruges, our luggage was laid out in our room. The staff always have a smile and seem genuinely interested to talk to you, which is such a rare quality nowadays. Breakfast was as expected, brilliant. Continental done at it's best, super sweet and juicy fruit, lovely breads and pastries with many different meats and cheeses. Fresh orange juice, great coffee and good service. The owners were closing the hotel for a holiday on Sunday but still allowed us to keep the key for our garage until one o'clock and just asked that we post it through the door when we left. If you want a quiet little hotel base from which to explore Bruges then this is the place.

Bruges weekend

Our stay at this hotel was really lovely. We wanted to stay in a quaint and homely place which wasn't a big hotel chain and you could have been staying anywhere in the world where all the bedrooms etc look the same.
This hotel hit the bill and the very individual service was amazing. Hosts were very friendly and advised us on good places to go and eat. Breakfast was lovely too. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we came back to Bruges.

Nice hotel along the canal. We're walkers and were able to walk to see the sights. Nice breakfast buffet in the hotel too. They had a garage space reserved for us so we didn't have to worry about our car. Would stay here again.

Wonderful hotel and hosts!!!

This hotel is simply wonderful! The hosts are charming and welcoming. We liked the nice simple breakfast. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It is right on the canal. For us, the walk to downtown we pleasant, but potential guests should be aware that it is about a 15 to 20 minute walk.

Quiet, cosy hotel close to tourist sights

Tius is a quiet, charming hotel in old Brugges. It's in a lovely location overlooking a canal, about turn minutes walk from the tourist area.

The staff are all very welcoming. Breakfast was good and plentiful (though obviously 'continental'). Our room was spacious, very comfortable and well maintained - the shower was superb. Only down side was that being on the ground floor with a 'garden' view (i.e. a courtyard) the room was rather dark.

Overall I would definitely recommend thus hotel.

Beautiful Bruges

We spent three days in the and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's it's about 15 minutes of a leisurely stroll from the Markt and surrounded by beautiful canals and architecture. The numbers 4 and 14 busses stop right outside the hotel and you can get them from right outside the train station. So convenient. The rooms are a lovely size with en suite bathrooms bigger that those of a lot of places I've stayed in and a full size bath. The staff are lovely and so helpful and the breakfast provided is super. I am going back again whenever I get the chance!
