This place was a palace! I had a two bedroom, two story apartment with a kitchen, living room, huge bathroom and outdoor deck with a view of the Belfry and the Church of Our Lady. From the front I had an amazing view of the Market Square. I was in room #4 and the elevator only went to 3, but staff was happy to assist in bringing my suitcase up the stairs for me. I really couldn't imagine a better hotel and location!

This was possibly the worst place I have ever stayed. It was absolutely nothing like the photos. Although the location was ideal, it was an apartment above a restaurant (which was really hard to find as there is very little signage even on the restaurant.) As there were only two small radiators working for the whole apartment is was terribly cold in most of the rooms (the weather was 20 degrees F outside!) There were times where there was no running water. The microwave and televisions did not work. There is a beautiful bathtub, but not enough hot water to even half fill it. I felt the whole place was only mildly clean. There were small blood stains on the sheets. And finally, we ended up with bug bites.

BED BUGS!! Do not stay here!! Not as advertised. The pictures are not realistic to what you get. Very run down, not clean, and there is no on site parking like advertised. I will stress again, BED BUGS!! You must check in at the bar of their restaurant. The first time we tried to check in they were busy in the restaurant and after waiting 15 mins to check in we told them we would come back. Second time still had to over 10 mins for someone to check us in. Hard to find as well because you don’t realize that the accommodation is above the restaurant as that is never mentioned in the check in instructions. Will never stay here again or recommend anyone stay here. The only good thing is the location and the view of the Cathedral right across the square.

Spacious apartment on the third floor overlooking Markt Square. A perfect place from which to enjoy the historic city of Brugge (Bruges) and its Christmas markets.
Unlike many buildings of this age, a small, modern elevator made access relatively easy for us. The apartment was quite well insulated from exterior sound and the bed was comfortable.
Would definitely stay there again.

It’s such a scandal you still have a collaboration with them. They don’t speak English and they’re bed bugs on a bed, we stayed there for 2 hours and then changed hotel for a much bigger price because of this inconvenience. It impacts your business as I was using Expedia for the first time, never again.

AWFUL AVOID AT ALL COSTS

It has incorrectly listed that it has onsite secured parking, which is false advertising? I would have never booked it if I had known this in the first place as stated before, we were touring Europe on motorbikes and was staying in different countries every night in hotels that had underground secured parking. It doesn’t seem fair that I’m unable to obtain a refund when, I didn’t check in, the male staff member was rude, approached me when I was speaking to a female colleague and asked her “what does he want”. She confirmed I had a hotel reservation and before he even asked for my name or proof of reservation he just replied with “your name isn’t on my phone so you obviously aren’t booked here”. I then proceeded to show him the booking confirmation and he just stated “well it’s not showing on my phone”. At this point I just avoided that conversation and enquired about where the secured parking was as we had travelled from Germany that day and done over 400 miles. Again, the same male staff member was rude, had an attitude and told me that the hotel does not have any onsite secured parking and that we have to leave our highly valuable motorbikes parked in the middle of the market with a load of push bikes.

After that I walked away, made contact with hotels.com to obtain a refund due to not checking in. They have refused this and I lost my money. Don’t make the same mistake as I did, the reviews speak for themselves and this hotel needs to take a good look at its standards.

Like being in a movie

I have always wanted to stay in a \"luxury\" European hotel like the ones you see in movies. This comes as close as I can get on my budget. Large, vintage furnishings, thick drapes, chandelier. It does show it's age in places, but it still felt luxurious and on another level from your standard hotel. I was concerned about it being right on the main square, but Bruges closes right down at night so it was quiet even with the windows open. I would definitely return.

Look at the Google reviews before booking, god knows how the rating on here is so high. The room was dirty, has exposed electric wires, and has bed bugs. This is not a safe place to stay. The people running the place fobbed us off, conveniently no one there was actually in charge. Extremely poor and this place should be removed from Expedia

Cheap stay in Bruges

This apartment is in an excellent position at central Bruges, right next to the Belfort tower and central to the Markt.
It is a 3-bedroom apartment (I was unaware of this as head read it was advertised as a 10window apartment overlooking the Markt).

The 10 window apartment was impressive with its positioning and was clearly once a very grand apartment. But, it is now a very tired looking and needs a good clean and upgrading. The kitchenette area(very useful for breakfast and coffee) needs a facelift and seems to be stick in the 90s. There was a plug socket hanging off the wall next to the bed and areas where a lick of paint was needed.
The bathroom had been updated and was nice, but needed a good scrub. Cleanliness was mainly superficial

The two other double bedrooms were looking a little tired and carpet in the hallway needs to be changed.

The strangest discovery was a drawer with various items and a cast iron chair in the seating area…

There is a restaurant downstairs, but we didn’t eat there.

Would I go back- not in its current state. With an upgrade, yes as it was so convenient and not noisy considering its central location.

OK, yes are some pretty dodgy reviews of this place and it’s certainly not the last word in luxury. But……. we’d booked the cheapest room (very reasonably priced) but ended up in ‘room’ 4, which it turns out is a huge duplex apartment on the top floor with kitchen, two bedrooms, roll top bath and a rooftop terrace. The B&B is right in the centre of the city. It’s clean, everything works it’s got bags of character.

The phone didn't work and no air conditioning.
The furnishings inside broken , old and in poor condition.

It was a beautiful building, a great restaurant below, unbelievable stunning location, expansive apartment with friendly staff and a chandelier above the bed. However, grubby bedding, blocked sink, mould in bathroom and another couple complained of bed bugs that they could see crawling! I wouldn't go there for a romantic getaway, but for the price it was a good place to explore the city.

A dream night !

The room size and 5 large windows on the central Market place was amazing!! The authenticity of the architecture, features and some of the furniture was most valued by me. Some modern additions were distasteful and cheap like sided bed tables but did not succeed in spoiling the fascination of the room size, layout, windows and view. Bathroom and toilet were comfortable and had all amenities. Sheets and towels were clean and of high quality. Books in old bookshelf were a bonus !!

Can’t fault the staff or the location. Perfectly located smack bang in the middle of the market square which is perfect for exploring.
Unfortunately we had bed bugs in our room, and so did a friend we travelled with in another room.
Despite the sound proofing the location means there are loud noises from surrounding bars and restaurants until midnight, and then street cleaners wake you from 7am. There was an event on in the square when we stayed so we were woken by a loud PA system at 6am.
The rooms are very charming but very tired. Our bed was missing a headboard and there were holes on the wall where it had been. The sinks and shower do not drain properly.
This is 2nd time we stayed here, but sadly due to the bedbug experience we will not return again, sorry.

The likes - location of the property, the views from the room and the size of our room, which had 3 beds.
The staff were nice.
The dislikes - immediate dislikes were the smell in the toilet area, flickering lights, open man hole in one of the bedrooms, some lights not working.
The kitchen area, and things in the kitchen are very old (toaster was in the oven) and there is no kettle (apart from a HUGE one on the stove, that would take forever to boil).
We didn’t even want to open the cupboard doors.
Key to our room also opened the restaurant door.
Lounge was badly stained.
We are 2 women travelling and this place had only male staff.
They just seem to be unaware of how to present a place, mainly for the dated and dirty things around.
When we arrived we questioned whether to stay or try and find somewhere else to go.
After our dinner (as we arrived late afternoon) we managed to find another hotel and ended up just leaving (around midnight) with nobody aware of this as there was nobody else in the place (we assume).
The next morning we went back and handed in the key, which surprised the staff member we gave it to.
It really is a shame that this place isn’t updated. It would not take much to change a few things and give the kitchen area a good clean.
Unfortunately this was an expensive part of our trip, given we had to change location, but we felt it totally necessary.
We would not recommend staying at this location, not until it is changed.

Loved it.

I booked this on its proximity to the Christmas market. Thecheck in is through the bistro and the staff could not have been more helpful. They even carried our bags to the lift. The luft is quirky but functional. The room was massive andhad a shabby chic feel. It had a fridge and kettle and a huge bed. Theviews from the windows were amazing and right into the square. If you are parking you need to stay at the bierkorf car park, very reasonable and close by. We stayed for 3nights and had a great time. There have been a lot of negative comments about this place, but it is not badly priced ,it has an amazing location and it is amazingly quirky. Staff were lovely and i would stay again.

There is no parking as advertised. Something wrong with drain as the smell in the bathroom was unbearable. There was a nice chandelier but only 1 bulb in it. There was a coffee machine but no coffee pods, eventually we got them from restaurant downstairs. The key for the room is the same as key for the outside door which means, that all rooms have the same key and anyone can come to your room at any time.
The room has so much potential but it felt like they don’t really care about anything. There is no working contact number for the property, so if anything happens (like you lose your key), you cannot contact them after 11 pm. The number on Expedia or google does not work.

Spacious, comfortable and great view over the central Markt. Ideally located for exploring central Bruges.
The customer service . . . not so good.
After checking in and freshening up we took a table outside to enjoy a local beer.
The same staff work the hotel and waiter service.
One of the waiting staff kept coughing over our shoulder - very offensive.
They brought the wrong order twice.
Hardly attentive when additional service required.
We decided to go elsewhere and requested the bill. This was quickly shown and then a card reader presented. I requested the bill and saw 3x incorrect entries added that we had not received, not even when they had brought us the wrong orders. I asked for a new bill. Suddenly it was his colleagues mistake and he would attend. The colleague attended and started adding up on a calculator. I asked for a new bill. He said not possible. I said hand written would do. He said not possible. I don’t know how any business expense mistakes could be corrected here then. I sensed that they were attempting a tourist scam with me. I said could they put it on my room so that I can sort out at check out. They hadn’t realised or remembered that we were guests. A new total was carefully produced.
So my advise is to stay here and enjoy the rooms and locations but go elsewhere to be a tourist requiring food and drink.

Location, size of room and views over the Markt all fantastic - can’t be improved.

On the other hand, this hotel could benefit from investment as interior is old-fashioned and shabby. Also bedclothes smelled funky, and some very odd architectural details such as a lecture and a broken urinal, and marble bathroom tiles that Tony Montana would be proud of.

Health and safety should be considered as there is nothing stopping a child opening windows and falling out.

Beautiful, large, 2 bedroom suite with high ceilings and large windows overlooking Market Square. The entrance is through the restaurant on the square so it’s not obvious; ask a waiter when you arrive. There is a small elevator and stairs to get to your suite. Amazing location on the square but it’s not quiet. Great if you enjoy being in the middle of the action.

DOES NOT HAVE AC, yet advertised as having AC. MOLD all over in-between tiles and along ceiling in bathroom. Broken toilet seat and falling off bathroom tray over sink. Curtains falling off runner and not able to cover windows. No screens on windows so excessive bugs at night due to windows having to be open since no AC. The location is Great if it had AC, but since it does not, the windows are open to the big square and you cannot fall asleep at night due to the noise, and get woken up early due to the noise (trash pickup, or in our case, the building of a Stage for a fest). Overall the space of the room is great and very walkable (only good thing to say). The Pillows are a joke, old and lack any support, we luckily had brought our own. The sheets had stains. The bedroom ceiling fans lacked covers for the light bulbs, and the windows would not close and latch in the back rooms. Has a kitchen however did not attempt to use, the dishes were hazy and appeared old and unclean. There is no separate check in or entrance, so you have to weave in-between people in the bistro tables at the restaurant to get in/out with your bags. Parking is listed as available, however it is a few blocks away.

It was beautiful! We are one adult and 2 teenage girls, and this was the best experience. Felt like staying in a family member house. Felt safe. Staff great, we had dinner at the restaurant, every time we came back the staff will greet as welcome home :) the room had the most incredible view to the main plaza, waking up with the horses sound was awesome!! The lights at the plaza go out at 11:30 pm- very comfortable we had 3 rooms, very clean, some dust in the chandelier and big curtains but nothing to complain. We were out walking the beautiful city most of the day, stayed 2 nights. It has an elevator!! Comfortable beds, clean towels, hot water, fridge, oven, coffee maker. Will recommend

We had a huge room. It was very unexpected in a fabulous way. The proximity to the square is excellent as you can overlook the square from your room. There is no checkin or out so you just need to go to the restaurant to pick up your key. We didnt ask about dropping off the key as we had to leave by 8am so we gave the key to the cleaning staff as the restaurant wasnt open. The hotel is a bit eclectic but adds to the charm. It was clean and convenient to everything and a great price. I highly recommend.

This is a restaurant with three rooms. It does not have a front desk, parking, or AC. When we finally arrived we had to check in with the wait staff. We were charged an extra 8.00€ “for local tax.” The gentleman then gave us a key, told us where there was public paid parking and sent us on our way. We drove around Bruge 2 miles to find parking.
The room was dirty and hot. They have weird fake fur rugs on the night tables. The furniture was gross and very dated. The sofa caved in when my husband sat down on it. One lamp was on the floor and the other on the fake fur nightstand. Both did not have lamp shades and were not even plugged in. The towels were stained and old.
We had to open the windows to cool the place down and were woken up at 5am by people outside and trash trucks. Absolutely a nightmare stay. To top it off the restaurant downstairs charged us 13€ for two cups of coffee. The wallpaper is torn and falling off the walls. Dead plants and spider webbs in the windows.

Terrible decision to stay there. The room pictures must be from 30 years ago because the condition of current state is very poor.
This wouldn’t be so bad if it was clean and tidy but unfortunately we couldn’t even get that.
The kicker was when I tried to make coffee but the machine wouldn’t turn and was sitting in a puddle in its leaked out water.

Forgot to mention… parking is NOT available! There is no parking at all, If you have no parking then say so!

This is effectively a 3 bedroom apartment with one of the beds in the living room. There is also a kitchen, and is decorated like a old palace!
It took a while to find it as it’s not a traditional hotel it’s a restaurant and you have to check in with staff there. Although the description says “parking” there’s is none and we ended up in a paid car park that wasn’t that close.
Although the place was clean and with fresh towels and bedding my wife did get bit by something so not so great on that part.
On a plus it is right in the middle of where you need to be and close to everything.

This was the worst room I have stayed in.
No Maintenance.
The safety security light out side our room at the top of the stairs did not work.
The front door Handel on the inside of the room was nearly falling off.
The bathroom shelf was also falling off.
The man hole cover in one bedroom room was ajar/open.
The bathroom had 4 lights but only 2 worked.
The lounge area has many lights but only one worked. There were two light stands with no gloves in them. The ceiling light was 3 down lights, one missing, Two not working.
The main bed was in the lounge room, no issues but the light was a chandelier more than half the lights were not working.

Other than the servers lack of lighting, the main room, lounge and bedroom had windows facing the Markt square, there was a lot of light from the square coming in, plus there were outside spotlights on the window sill pointing up to highlight the building from the outside. The issue here is most of the light came into the bedroom. I found 2 curtains in a wardrobe, and even so I think more were missing. The bits to re hang the curtains were missing so they could not be hung and therefore the light came into this room all night. The room was so light you could not use this bed and bedroom.

On the Markt square, so position is awesome. You can come back after dinner with a drink of your choice and sit with the windows open and gaze across the square. Incredible. Yes the fittings are dated, and some have seen better days, but the size and position cannot be beaten.

This is not a hotel. It is a Restaurant that has some rooms for rent. There is no lobby. You just get to the restaurant and ask for your room key. Very old place but the location is super good

You can’t beat the location and the price tbh! However, the place wasn’t really clean. It was insanely old. My door handle and that actual lock came completely off LOL! I went downstairs and the property is run by the waitstaff? They said the head guy was gone for the day so their was nothing they could do about my lock being gone. Ummm what?! Luckily another waiter was able to help. Honestly if you are just looking for a place to crash, it’s fine. If you are looking for any customer service I wouldn’t choose it

Wow, what a stay. Utterly perfect location, right on the square. We were lucky to get Room 3 which is the one shown in the nicest photos. Decor is high quality but dated (but we liked that), it’s basically a flat with a super comfy bed, great shower and a view over the square to die for. If you look on Google reviews you will see a lot of mixed reviews, but these are for the restaurant underneath your rooms. We would definitely stay here again. There is also really convenient underground parking (4 mins walk away for €16 a day) nearby.

Nice location but falsely advertised

This is not a hotel, but a collection of rooms above a cafe.

The rooms are a lovely size but the work done to refresh the condition is poor, and in addition they are falsely advertised.

If this matters to you then it will have a significant impact to your stay:

There is no car parking
There is no AC
There is no disabled access (there is a lift internal to the stairwell, but the lift is only accessible once you have already climbed a flight of stairs)
It is not possible to contact the hotel as their phone number has been cut off

The actual rooms are still nice though and the location is nice and central.

Terrible. No communication. Number doesn’t work.

Terrible (no) communication with this hotel. Our trip was delayed and we booked for two nights. I emailed them repeatedly to notify them that we would not make the first night and wanted to keep the second night. I expected to refund or price adjustment, only that they would hold the room for us. No reply. No reply to emails. Tried to call and no heir number is out of service. Hotels.com agent could not contact them either. If the hotel will not or cannot communicate with the client or hotels.com agents, then they should be removed as a hotels.com hotel immediately. Lost two nights including cost and rewards points and had to rebook at another hotel. Pull them from the hotel.com site, pls, to prevent more unhappy customers.

Great but could be so much better

The actual place was good, the room was great, the wardrobe have broken doors, a lampshade was missing, a curtain rail was broken as well. The electrical points look slightly a tad worn as well, some people may look like it as nit picking but it's stopping this place from a great place into a awesome place. It's well placed, with a great restaurant underneath it, situated well in Bruges, it just needs abit more t.l.c

The room, (#3), was definitely not what I expected. Huge...with the most amazing view of the Square. I would have to stay here again if I ever came back...and I will. If you are on the fence about staying here...I am here to tell you to just book it. You will be very glad that you did.

Only look at the most recent reviews as they are relevant to current condition of this property. It seems that this place must have changed ownership during COVID period, because it has gone decidedly downhill from reviews in 2018-19 that give this place a rating in the 8s. Location is great, but beyond that the place is shabby. We booked for two nights, but left after one as my wife and daughter couldn't stand it. Not a hotel. Sent message to manager to try to get money back for night we didn't stay. No response.

You cannot get a better location in Bruges. I stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment with my family and we very much enjoyed our stay. It was a cozy stay with charm and I recommend you stay here.

Fantastic location and friendly staff.
The room is very dirty and not cleaned properly. On arrival we was greeted with dirty dishes and opened bottles of wine from the last guest. Most of the lights dont work and most of the room is falling apart. Still it was a beautiful location and the staff that work there are really nice. If they could just sort the rooms out it would be fantastic

I am not sure why Expedia allows a owner to list apartments as a hotel. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL! These are apartments above a restaurant. There are no terrace, or lobby, or hotel service to be spoken of. The flat was large, much larger than what we needed and smelled stale. The linens and pillows were the lowest quality. Too much light as they did not turn off the building façade lights at night and curtains were broken and not black out. The hallway we were supposed to use as in/out access after hours was clogged with junk, presenting blockage of the emergency exit. I am curious what the fire department would make of that. If you are on a budget and want to travel with a large family / group, this can be an afforable option but do not be followed: THIS IS NOT A HOTEL! There is no terrace, there is the outside sitting area of the restaurant. There is no lobby, there is a computer in the restaurant bar and a rack of keys. Expedia needs to inspect places like these and require they categorize properly!

Great location on the main market square with friendly staff and a large room, although you get what you pay for. Room was shabby and in disrepair, the curtains were torn, there was a broken sofa bed in the middle of the room not in the description or the photos. The shower did not drain, the windows were missing panes, and their phone number has been disconnected for weeks making the property unreachable (which they noted they were aware of). It was a budget friendly option, in a great walkable location and we did not spend much time in the room but it is NOT as nice as decorated or assembled in the photos.

A horrible experience that never got resolved

A room without hot water, with broken plumbing, and negligent security compromising the safety of our valuables. Add to this unreachable hotel management & lack of apology and/or communication.

wiFi was out during my stay. The room itself was great and exceptionally clean. The coverings, (i.e. slipcovers on sofa, bedspread) were old and a little tatty but clean. The furnishings were also old but are consistent with the nature of the hotel, as it is very old. Location couldn't be better! The best part of the room was the exceptional assistance the staff gave me, as a foreign traveler with no maps and no internet connection, they were more than accomodating,

This property is in an excellent location if you want to be right in the middle of the tourist activities on the market square. The B&B is in a narrow building with one room on each floor. We had two rooms. One was on the second floor. It was large with huge windows overlooking the square, a king bed, and a spacious sitting area. The second room (the third floor) was huge. It was actually a three room apartment with a full kitchen, two additional bedrooms, a large sitting area, and great views. If I had known this room was so big I would not have booked two rooms. The rooms were dated but very comfy and had everything we needed — toiletries, coffee, tea, robes, dishes, cutlery etc. After long days of sightseeing, we were so happy to return to this room. The B&B is run by the family that also runs the restaurant on the ground floor. They were extremely friendly and helpful, and provided very nice breakfasts. I normally love a stylish hotel, but I would definitely return here for the casual comfort, space, and great location.

A beautiful room overlooking the bellfry and grand market of bruges. You can’t beat this property in terms of proximity to main sites as well as having a room that makes you feel like a medieval lord. With that being said, it is important to note that the the property is part of a busy restaurant. This means that check-in/check-out as well as entering and exiting the building will be not ideal if you were anticipating a hotel. Also the wifi signal was pretty weak in the room.

The key to a great stay at this property is to understand that it is more like renting an airbnb then a traditional hotel.

Overall a good experience!
