One of the best hotels we've ever stayed! Excellent central location. Beautiful hotel, classic style and decoration. Bedroom was very well appointed with everything we needed, very comfortable, little luxuries. Very friendly and attentive management and staff, very knowledgeable of Bruges, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was superb, great selection of cheeses, meats, fruit, nuts, breads, plus a small hot food range. Small car park to the rear (pre-book with the hotel).

THE place to stay in Bruges!

This is THE place to stay in Bruges. The entire hotel is curated for comfort and ambience. The hotel staff is very friendly, they served us drinks at the chic bar and they gave us coffee in the morning room. Lovely atmosphere all around.
They have private parking on their own property, which is pretty much a miracle in Bruges.
The bed, room and bathroom were all of standard/expected American size, so we didn’t feel claustrophobic.
Location is wonderful, all sights are within easy walking distance; and lots of shops and restaurants right around the corner.
We will stay here again.

The room and bathroom were well furnished and adequate in size for me & spouse & clean & comfortable. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast had a lot of food options, and good coffee. So much character

Beautiful old hotel in the heart of Bruges. People stop to take photos of the beautiful building and then you feel quite smug when you go inside. The rooms are beautifully decorated and and staff are lovely. There is a small car park round the back - the entrance is quite tight but wide enough for a big SUV. Would definitely stay again.

The communal areas of the hotel were luxurious and tastefully decorated. The receptionists are extremely professional and helpful. (Thank you Nick!) The room itself was tiny, dark, with sloping ceilings and dormer windows with fabric blinds on metal rods, trying to move the fabric in order to let more natural light in- I had to stand on one of the chairs and the metal rod fell on me, so I gave up. In the bathroom to let the steam out after having a shower you have to climb the toilet(, which is quite tall) in order to be able to open the skylight. There’s no full length ( or even half length)) mirror in the room. The bathroom mirror is so high on the wall- I could only see the top part of the head, which made drying the hair a pain. And yes, I’m petite at 5’2 (155 cm). But the worst thing was mosquitoes ( it does say in the room’s leaflet they are active in the summer), but opening the window even during a day for short periods of time was enough to let them in and a week later the bites are still visible and itchy. We stayed 3 nights and after one breakfast decided it’s not worthy- couldn’t find any butter for the toast ( till a lady turned up 10 min later and got it from some cupboard), scraped the last small amount of scrambled eggs from a hot sever dish and it was overdone and hardly warm. The honey provided was in honeycomb and having tea full of waxy bits wasn’t enjoyable at all.
I would recommend staying at this hotel, but not in the summer and in a different room.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel on the end of a quiet street. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a nice sitting area to have a drink in besides a chic bar. They also have a nice outdoor patio area. There is a breakfast room but we don't typically eat breakfast so we didn't utilize it. The ensuite room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I would stay here again!

This place was wonderful. The location was quiet and a short walk (5min) to the main square. The room was small but beautiful and eloquent. The shower was large and the water was HOT, great for winter travel. The front desk persons were all so nice, friendly and welcoming. The shampoo, conditioner and soap smelled so good, I took the extra hope so I can find the company. The bed was very very comfortable. I would stay here again if I do come back for a visit.

The family that own this former bishop's residence have done an amazing job at decorating to a very high standard. The staff we met were either family members or friends of the family. Breakfast in the old cellar was excellent. The sitting room for tea in the afternoon and drinks at night was beautifully and comfortably done. The only thing I would change would be in the room we booked. The bathroom was spacious, but the bedroom (though beautifully decorated) was a little small. If we're ever back in Bruges, we'll book a larger room instead of their smallest, least expensive room.

Beautiful hotel with friendly, helpful staff just a short walk from the station. In a lovely quiet street, yet so close to the centre. Our room was spacious with a huge comfortable bed. Loved the garden area for a drink at the end of the day with candles everywhere and blankets. The art deco room was also stunningly beautiful, a lovely place for afternoon tea or evening drinks. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit Bruges.

We arrived on time for our 3pm check in but the receptionist took over 30 minutes to check the couple in front of us in. Such a slow laborious procedure. Wasting our time. We didn’t get to our room until 4pm as he took an excruciatingly long time to check us in. We had had a very long day of travel and just wanted to get to our room and relax. He didn’t listen to us when we kept saying, “No thank you, we are good”.But he would then proceed in talking and showing us things we didn’t either need to see or know While the rooms where lovely it’s a shame the staff weren’t. We specifically left the do not disturb sign on our door as we didn’t want anyone entering but the staff still proceeded in entering. We felt violated and extremely upset. The manager did nothing to appease the situation.

This stay exceeded my expectations. The hotel was beautiful and the staff accommodating. I was able to check in early, which was great after a long day of travel. And that mattress! This is our second stay at this beautiful charming hotel which always goes above and beyond for its guests and are so welcoming. We love the breakfast which is always a highlight and has so much choice. This family run hotel is well worth a visit and we will continue to stay here when we visit Bruges. The location is minutes from everything you’ll want to do in Bruges although still very quiet at night.
The only negative is the bath. Although elegant looking it is unpleasant to use when having a shower due to the shower curtain touching you every time you move.

It was very disappointing, the waiter was very rude, and the guests were arbitrarily suspicious and forced to deduct the money after the guest left, completely ignoring the explanation and insisting on his own way.We received a call from manager of Hotel de castillion at 1:40 this afternoon. He told me that we are charged for 240euros because the window system was broken, we rejected him because we didn’t break anything. When we check our bank account we found the money was already charged at 9:40am. Then we called him again to ask him to show the evidence. He emailed us a photo about the window handle and said it’s in our room.
We try to communicate with him but he held a bad attitude and said that we are lying.We called hotel manager again. And he communicate with us with bad attidute and always say we are lying. We try to call it back and explain we did nothing however the manager turn the phone off.
That’s what happened today. I don’t want to have a guess that who broke the window handle after we leave , but one thing can be sure is that everything is fine when we check out at 9 am this morning. So there is no reason and no right for the manager to charge us.
We didnt broke any thing especially this item. Because nobody could sleep under sunshine with open window at early morning such as 5 a.m.
