at Bruges hostel - is the soap dispenser same as shower gel?
I brought my own ( don't see any after checking in?) but the cap of the travel size showel gel dropped into the uncovered hole in the room sink ( private room). Informed staff but the next day, on my own managed to dig it out using my wooden chopstick after seeing that water retains but does slowly seeps down. Also, informed staff in case they go looking for a problem that's already resolved - my suggestion is to have the hole covered (partially) to prevent future things that shouldn't drop through.

Didn't know have to use paid locker before or after check in.

Checked in late ( evening) so didn't want to use the welcome drink or the discounted food privilege immediately. Thinking to use next day.
But another staff rejected saying it's expired. We booked another night with another booking platform, not direct with St Christopher's Inn this time. But eventually, staff allowed us to have it.
Actually, we do have an extra perk - courtesy of Eco Wanderer who rewarded us with a free pint of beer because we took Flixbus here.

What makes St Christopher Inn a good hostel is the team, they were amazing! Sadly no atmosphere which other hostels have, this could be because the room where the bunk bed was, was away from the hostel and the pub. The personal light was broken, so was hard to see without disturbing others. No clothes hook, no complimentary shampoo like other hostels. I reserved 6 weeks previous and you would think it would be cheaper than buying on the day, but could of saved 10 euros by not booking in advance. Sorry to be negative but the day before I came from YUST Hostel in Antwerp which was cheaper and was on another level to what was offered at St Christopher Inn.

Excellent location, only about a 12-14 minute walk to the Old Town. Very helpful and cool staff. The bar attached is awesome, it’s typically full of locals who appreciate the atmosphere. I liked this hostel so much that I booked 3 nights in its sister location in Amsterdam.

Fantastic hostel where you can rent either a bed in a dorm or a room. Lockable facilities for your great in each room. Showers and washrooms are clean and functional. Great location in the city, with a brilliant pub/cafe downstairs. Nice staff.
I first styted here about 40 years ago on a cycle backpack tour and it was just as good! Highly recommended for the price, don't forget is your want privacy you will need to book a room rather than just a bed in a shared dorm.

I was hesitant for a long time about booking a hostel, but my first experience proved me wrong! Maybe it was beginner's luck—who knows?

The hostel is a 10-minute walk from the city centre, located in a quiet and safe area. I booked a room in a flat, and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and cosy it was, especially the bathroom, which was very well-maintained.

The pub has a lovely vintage design that enhances your experience. Although there weren't many pizza options, the ones I tried were very tasty.

this is a bar with a hostel, not a hostel with a bar. hostel itself is decent, keep in mind there is no kitchen area at all or common area after 1 am. bar is pretty and not terribly overpriced but be prepared for aggressive/weird/rude regulars. bartenders largely permissive of bad behavior. go during the day if you must, after all the beer is good.

Stayed in the individual room and it was nice. Top floor with a nice view of the city. The bar is nice down below along with the breakfast. It was well heated and the bed was comfortable.

I'm not sure if this is always the case, but during my stay there was a really repulsive smell coming from the bathroom/sewer. This was in my room and also I could smell it in the hallways of the regular shared bathrooms.

There are mosquitoes in the main reception and bar area, and bed bugs in the rooms. This is so sad to have to share this review because we had stayed a few years ago and between the ease of being in town and quick tram to the beach, its been a great location. But, they’ve expanded and theres just one guy who swaps between the bar and cleaning the room and it seems like he’s also picking up the slack for his girlfriend who works there and the result is its just not hygienic.

Guy who greeted me was very friendly. The room itself was pretty comfortable. For the price I have no complaints. My issue was the noise. It sounded like kids shouting and screaming, running around slamming doors all night long. For this reason I won’t be back.

Worse nightmare of my life, do not stay here. Room 2 B. Missing light fixtures, no night stands or lights, needs paint, broken doors, mold in the bathroom, the ceiling needs paint, left over lunch outside my window, what a view! Most disgusting hotel experience for 185€. Basically you get a 1/2 star hostal for almost 200€ and far from downtown, about 0.6 miles. Disgusting, disgusting and disgusting. Must see pics!

Nice property, although the dorms and rooms are in flats - quite different from what I'm used to. Decent facilities, there's a great kitchen in each flat. Great area. Only issue was our room looked out onto (and into) at least 3 other properties, meaning the curtains in the room and toilet had to permanently be closed so no one could look in at you.

The property is within the city centre and an easy walk to the sights you need to discover in Brugge. The apartment we stayed is on the 1st floor and with heavy luggage its a struggle but its understandable as its an old buildings (no lift).
The room is expected for a hostel (we have 4 single beds with a private bathroom). The bathroom is small and its smelly (from the drain and shower curtain thats not been washed for a while). We also found 1 sock and a plastic water bottle under the bed (not ours). The view is good fromnour room though. There is also a bar on site if you wanted to experience the beer tasting.
The breakfast is excellent on site for €7 on the day and €6 if you book online.
Our Brugge holiday is the best holiday so far in Belgium because of the proximity of the accomodation to the famous sites .

The apartment was nice and clean. There were 3 rooms and we sympathize with one of our roommate, we share lot of good times together, we made a party in a pub close to the hotel. We had everything we need into the apartment : TV, fridge, plates, and so on.
I kindly recommend the hotel regarding the price/quality and the proximity to the center.

The person who checked me in was incredibly helpful. What didn't like was the luggage storage area. It wasn't free like some other hostels I have been on this trip and the system didn't remember when you first put your luggage into the locker. If you opened the locker before your time was up it would charge you for a whole days worth of storage.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but what a wonderful place to stay. We had a private room with bathroom on 3rd floor with a skylight. Perfectly located in town. Short walk to market square. The bar was a little too loud for me but I’m not a bar person. I think someone young would love it. I was traveling with my daughter. They offer pizza late and free walking tours in day and night. Love Bruges and highly recommend this location to stay.

First, I want to say that there were a number of great things about this place. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms, not the hostel. The service was wonderful, staff was helpful and kind. The room was clean. The check-in process easy, and a great bar is attached.

However, no amenities in the room, very simple, no safe. Bathroom was very small, mattress was not comfortable, no curtains on window, and the walls were thin so the doors closing was very loud. This hotel room is great for €80 or less, but not worth more than this unless in a bind (which we were).

A good option for Bruges

Bruges is a beautiful place to visit, this was about the only economical place to stay. The room had two single beds, there was a compact toilet shower handbasin compartment. The room was clean and there was an outlook onto nearby rooves and buildings. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar / restaurant had a good breakfast option.

Nice place to stay near central Brugge

The hostel is fairly nice and quiet. The bathrooms and showers are easy to access and convienent to use. Here is some advice in staying there: request to sleep in a lower bunk bed. The bunks are rather encapsulated and heat rises so if you stay in an upper bunk you may get too hot at night as the heat is on steadily in the winter.

It was a great night in a cool city along our Europe tour. The hostel is outside city center, but it’s a very short walk. Avoid Sunday ;) the city kind of closes down. Hostel was great, glean with everything basic thing you need. We had the family room. Be aware that it’s tiny, but for the price, I highly recommend.

We were in a private room and had the BEST beds & bedding & pillows that I have encountered at a hostel before. So great! The private rooms are in a sort of apartment style with 3 private rooms sharing a kitchen, living room and bathroom.

Book direct with St Christopher's to get breakfast included.

The one complaint that I do have is that there was a weird smell of sewage in the hallway to our \"apartment\" area.

This is a great hostel in Bruges! The staff are so helpful and it’s close to the main square. The walking tours they recommended were great and the adjacent bar was so fun! The only thing I didn’t like was the shower and how you have to continually press it to keep the water going. Other than that, a great stay!

It is a hostel spread out over a handful of houses inside the old town of Bruges. We had a private room with bathroom. The bathroom was not bigger than that of a camper. Parking is on the street and free over night but not during the day. Good place for younger people and as base to explore Bruges.

Nice hostel with a good atmosphere. Was a little quiet as it wasn't busy but still managed to meet people at the bar. Great selection of beers at the bar and the girls working the night shift were really friendly. Decent breakfast and rooms were ok. Not enough toilets or showers for the place though. Enjoyed my stay here and Brugge itself. A 15 min walk to the town centre.

Excellent location, breakfast was sufficient but repetitive if you stay for more than a few days. Curtains allow for privacy and the locker cages under the beds ensure your belongings are safe (bring your own lock). The pub was a fun spot to hang out after walking all day. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Nice hostel, problem with electricity!

It was a nice friendly hostel, only problem we had was the electricity to our room decided to cut off at 1am! Which is obviously not good if you're staying at hostels to charge your technology whilst traveling. When telling the receptionist to following morning, she didn't care or even apologize, which was quite rude for me.

Spend a little more, go somewhere nicer.

Not very nice at all, the rooms were very dirty with huge piles of dust under the beds. I could only find several toilets in the whole building so I think the toilet to occupant ratio must be something in the realm of 1 toilet for 10 people. Shared showers were miserable. Check in was nice, and staff are friendly. Also it is not near the main tourist area, but only one road to get there.

The location is not far from the city centre, that was nice since in time of holydays not much was open around. Rooms are ok, curtains on beds, a reading light and sockets were nice little touches that gave you feeling of privacy, that is usually not expected from a hostel. If there were hangers it would be perfect!! Having a bar is a good thing, so there is no need for walking in the centre again just for a beer, but beer tasting nights, fun as they are, leave souvenirs in the bathroom; although it is well taken care of the cleanliness!! Still don't understand if the breakfast is free or not, since I understood it is not and didn't check how it works.

I just got back from a 10 day trip around Europe, I visited Glasgow, London, Amsterdam, Bruges, and Munich. This was my first trip to Europe since high school (paid for with graduation money) and also my first time staying in hostels. Most of my experiences were good but my time at St Christopher's Bauhaus Hostel was easily the best time I had at any hostel. My room was somehow small & cozy, yet open & spacious at the same time. The bar was lively enough on a Sunday night and everybody I talked to was very friendly. There were also some other interesting dive bars a couple blocks up the street worth checking out, and obviously all the sights to see were only minutes away. I would definitely consider coming back here and I will be recommending this place to all my friends.
