The hotel's location was good, a little far from the city center, but walkable. The room was nice, with a great view of the canal. By American standards the room was cool, set at 68, but the duvet was more than enough to keep warm. The breakfast was very good.

We stayed from 27–30 November 2025 as two couples, booking through Hotels.com. At about £550 per couple for 3 nights and with mostly “Good” 7–10/10 ratings, we expected a straightforward mid-range hotel.

Instead, it turned out to be a very “low budget” place (only obvious from the sign on arrival), and the standard rooms we had don’t appear in the listing photos.

Rooms were clean but extremely basic for the price:

Shampoo / Shower Gel, Tea Making Facilities and extra pillows all chargable as extras, but not explained on the Hotel.com site.

Our room did not even have hand soap to wash after visiting the bathroom.

Both rooms did not have a wardrobe, just 3 hangers on the back of the door. We had two shelves, but our friends room didnt even have shelves.

Tiny sofa-style pillows, with a note saying you must pay extra for an additional pillow. And we had to.

In our room an open shower with no door or privacy and a mirror that gives a direct view from the bed.

One folding chair.

Clean, yes, but extremely poor value and not what we believed we were booking. We would not stay again or recommend it.

The best thing I can say is that the location is excellent. It is a very basic hotel, with very small rooms. The breakfast was quite good. You have to pay extra for things like a blow dryer, shampoo, extra pillows. We didn’t have to pay For the blow dryer as we were staying a week.

the location is ideal for walking about the city - no shortage of restaurant options, the view from the room was literally open window to the canal. A lovely courtyard, great breakfast and very friendly front desk staff (when present). It is about a 30 minute walk from the train on very cobbled streets but once there it is absolutely perfect

My only complaint is the trouble I had tryin to get in when I arrived in early evening. I have no smart-phone, and found the keypads outside the door would not work (e.g. there was no hash sign, so impossible to key in the details I had been sent). Luckily, someone came out after I had spent about 10 minutes trying to get in.
The manager and staff could not have been more helpful and I had a very confortable stay, athough shower room was very tiny!

We were fortunate to have a room where the window opened directly to the canal. Room was very tiny and basic but having the canal view with swans swimming up to say hello each morning made it magical. The hotel was undergoing renovations but this did not impact our stay . Breakfast was adequate and coffee delicious. Hotel was walking distance to everything we wanted to explore in Bruges and convenient to use bus to central train/ bus station. We would stay again

The hotel is half finished (bare concrete in the corridors), the room (a so-called 'comfort' room) didn't even have a proper bathroom just a shower cubicle with a curtain that opened onto the sleeping area with no extractor fan so the whole place was full of steam and a toilet where the light automatically turns off after about 30 seconds. Heating is mandatory, you can't turn it off and it was totally unnecessary. The room contained only a bed and a sink.

They put a reserve charge on my card for both rooms I booked and, despite having paid at check-in, a week later the reserve on my card is still there and they're no help at all trying to resolve the situation.

If you want to seep in a sauna and create a cash-flow nightmare it's the hotel for you.

It was not clear that it was a self-service hotel when I booked. Not easy to get into the hotel via instructions. Instead of having a canal view, I had a view of scaffolding. There was a patched hole in the ceiling of my room and the decor was scruffy. Sliding door of the bathroom was sticking. Staff were helpful and pleasant when present.

The exterior of the hotel matched Bruges medieval feel. The reception and hall were clean and tidy. The corridors felt like they either had a flood or were in the middle of redecoration. Laminate floors were lifting and there was bare plaster on the wall. No skirting boards or flooring in places. Small blood spots where guests had splatted mosquitos on the walls were evident.

Our room was clean and tidy. It is a canal view hotel but we quickly learned after the first night that you couldn’t have the windows open at all. I was bitten by mosquitos at least ten times and we were out of bed several times and killed ten of the little invaders. There was no mesh or netting on the windows to stop them coming in. Therefore our room was too warm and steamed up because the shower extractor fan didn’t work. Finally there was no room to hang clothes apart from a couple of hooks on the back of the door. This experience was disappointing.

I liked this hotel due to its location. It was next to the canal and close to the main attractions in Bruges. It was lovely waking up in the morning and seeing the canal outside our bedroom window! The continental breakfast was excellent, great choices and filled you up for the day. The reason I didn’t rate this hotel higher was I didn’t like the self service check in and no assistance with bags even though we had to go down stairs to access our room, however we did enjoy our stay.

Rooms are really small and badly design you cannot walk past by your roommate without bumping into each other, and they charge you for basic stuff like shampoo, rooms are hit by the sun the whole evening and don’t have AC so I hope you like sleeping inside an oven. They serve breakfast after 8 am so if you have to leave early you are out of luck. I’ve had rooms all around Europe for the same price way in better conditions.

Good budget hotel close to the main square. Our room was large and bathroom was adequate. It being a budget hotel, there wasn't any shower gel but not a problem. Beds were made and changed as were towels. Floor wasn't hoovered while we were there even though there was crumbs and bits on it. Breakfast was fair fo0r a budget hotel with food being replenished on a regular basis. A free shuttle bus takes you to the train station and around the inner city which was really good. All in all a fair hotel and we would stay there again..

Initial card details were declined 1week before due arrival. Informed via email that if i didn't respond within 24hrs then my reservation made several months before would be cancelled.
Phoned several times without success as reception is sparsely manned, hence emailed in desperation. Thankfully someone phoned me back a couple of days later and my original card details were resubmitted and accepted, the anxiety and stress of potentially trying to find another hotel at short notice was something i would have sooner avoided.
Upon arrival thankfully check in was manned and this was relatively straightforward.
The room although a canal view was basic however an ensuite shower and toilet had been fitted within meaning the toilet floor was soaked after a shower, it could really have done with a shower curtain. The wall of the wet room was very flimsy without any sound proofing.
The facilities themselves were disappointing with things such as kettle, hairdryer or an extra pillow having to be rented at an additional cost.
Furthermore there was an cost for cleaning levied to our stay. I woud have considerd this to have been within the room price as its not something that is optional.
On plus side really comfy bed, breakfast very good and location was near to most things required.
In conclusion i've stayed many times in brügge at different hotels, this one unfortunately was the least value for money hence i do not intend staying here again when i return.

The hotel was in a lovely location but the room was strangely laid out. The sink was in the sleeping area and the shower was open to the room and had no shower curtain. The toilet was in a separate room and the light went out about every 30 seconds. This is very inconvenient when you are sitting and have to get up and wave your arms. On the positive side, breakfast was included and it was a nice European spread.

We went to Canalview for a girls trip. Check in was easy, room was spacious and beds were comfortable. The hotel staff were very pleasant anf assisted with everything. Breakfast was great, it had everything we needed for the day and the setting was gorgeous. Front desk agent was helpful. An ok hostel but not a hotel...overpriced

From the outset it was not what we were expecting. It was more like a hostel than a hotel with self check in. We were charged €4 a night per person tax as advertised but an admin fee of €4 per person per night was also added on. It was under construction with scaffolding everywhere. Our floor had an unfinished floor and walls. Contruction noise started at 7am until 7 pm and one of the builders even dropped a roof tile onto the window of our roof, scaring us as we were getting ready in the morning. The walls were very thin, and you could hear everyone coming and going.
The room was big with a large bed but it was so high we had to jump up on it, which meant not being able to get in/ out of bed without waking the other person.
The bathroom was not a separate room but a plastic ' insert' inside the room with a tiny shower basin and toilet. There was a small plasitic door which was open at the top and the bottom, which meant you had very little visual covering whilst on the toilet and absolutely no sound proofing. Fine if you are on your own but if more then one person inthe room, you need to be very comfortable witg eachother's bathroom behaviour.
We were told breakfast was 8-10 but when we arrived at 9 there was nothing left for us.
On our last day we were told by a staff member we could take the bus to the station but as we got on the bus, the driver said he doesnt go there.There were only 2 buses so seemed like something staff should know.
Overall overpriced for what it is.

The property is very well located close to all the main areas. But that is about it. The rooms are cold and poorly maintained. Everything you could imagine you had to pay for. An extra pillow, a towel, even body wash all came at an extra charge. They even charged you to pay your city tax classed as an ‘admin fee’ which I have never experienced at any hotel in Europe. We have previously stayed at this hotel and booked again as we had had a good experience. Whilst the hotel is in a good location and the breakfast is excellent, the communal area of the hotel that we stayed in was very poor- half of the flooring was ripped up, holes in the walls and poor decoration. The room was very clean and well provided but canal view might have been pushing it a bit!

We have stayed at the hotel a number of years ago and while it is very clear they sit at the value end of the Options in Bruges it is good value for money.

Accessible from the station on free shuttle bus (or the paid 1 and 2) it’s is a few mins from the centre of the city.

If like us you only really use the hotel as a place for a breakfast and somewhere to sleep it was comfy, quiet and the breakfast simple but plentiful.

A hair drier, toiletries etc… were all chargeable extras so do be aware of that. Would stay again

Great location and good value for money

This is a great little hotel at an amazing location just on the canal and a few minutes walk from the Squares. The staff are friendly and obliging and the included breakfast is a nice touch. It's continental but also provides boiled eggs. Make a note to bring with you tea and coffee and shower gel and shampoo as there is an additional 5 euro charge for tea and coffee making facilities and also a shower pack. The nimber 1 and 2 busyops are a couple of steps up the road and there is a free shuttlebus to the station
The rooms are clean and basic and there is wetroom. We had a great view out onto the canal (if you don't like canal smell, specify a room without this view) There is a little courtyard for relaxing between the main building and the annex. Non smokers beware as the courtyard is the only place one can smoke, so people do. You could try specfying a room that doesn't have windows overlooking the courtyard.

We stayed during the hottest heatwave ever and could have done with some air conditioning. We decided to open our windows and so predictably got mosquito bites. I don't think that one can expect an inexpensive hotel in Northern Europe to have air conditioning as the problem is not normally hear but cold.

All in all good value foroney and we enjoyed our stay and would come back

They put us on the bottom floor, below reception. The stairs were the only way to get there and they were sharp metal grids—perilous with luggage, and of course, the staff offered absolutely no help with our luggage. In fact, they were condescending, rude, and unhelpful. Our room was about a foot above the river in the canal. We could easily touch it from the windows. The room smelled as though the water had overflowed into the room — very moldy. It was discomforting and noisy to have the water so close, and boats going by and sloshing the water up even higher. We did not stay. I found another hotel immediately and we left. I am used to older rooms and small rooms in Europe, but with the treacherous metal grate stairs and the unpredictable water level, noise and mold, this was the worst ever.

Unfortunately I stayed at this hotel. It's been my worst value for money stay so far. Pictures in the website look nothing similar to reality. We were in a basement full of humidity where you could not control heating in a freezing room (reception told us we had to pay 50€ additional to control the heating). No soap in the toilet, terrible bed and the ceiling was almost touching my head (1.90com). Very claustrophobic. Terrible breakfast and worst attention from reception. I would recommend for people to look for other options at this price.

The room was excellent as it was a large size with a good bed and a good shower. Breakfast was also good with plenty of choice.

The limited reception service is a bit of a negative though as I arrived without anybody there (I was warned about this advance and was advised of arrangements to get in though). It was also annoying to have no one there when I left in case of any last minute issues.

We stayed in the Canal View room and their was limited toilet paper. They did not have any soap in the shower. Only Hand soap on the wall. The room view was beautiful but the fact that the heater worked poorly in the room was disappointing.

Good budget Hotel.

This is a budget hotel but renovated to a good standard and run efficiently. If you are looking for a comfortable place for B&B while you spend your time exploring and eating out, this is perfect. Oh, and good, central location.

The location and surrounding views very good. There was nothing extra in the room which would’ve made the stay more affordable. I feel also you need to change the bed in the room, I woke up yesterday morning and this morning with bite marks on my leg.

not a good deal

The stay was fine. However they didn’t give us the room we booked with canal view. And gave us the room on top floor with a very small window and said it’s an upgrade. That’s a total lie as they didn’t want to give us the room with view. They also cleaned one of the rooms and didn’t tell us we left a pair of expensive shoes. When we reached out they said they might have one but the hours of reception closed so they couldn’t do anything about it. Can you believe it. I had to literally compel them to give me back my expensive shoes. For towels they were charging additional fees which I have never heard of. One entire day reception was closed for whole day except they opened it for an hour. This is not acceptable. The reception desk manager was lil rude. Please book hotels around if you want to have a pleasant experience in Bruges. Thanks.

Breakfast was excellent, but could of done with the addition of a toaster in the breakfast room. The bedroom was clean and the bef was comfortable. The addition of a fridge to keep drinks cool would have been welcomed.

A great budget hotel room that was right on the canal. The rooms are basi but clean and functional. The provided breakfast is also basic but did the job. Since we spent most of our time out exploring the room was perfect as a place to crash.

No soap, No Frills

Things you should know before booking: No soap: owner of hotel refuses to pay for soap anywhere in hotel-even lobby bathroom. It's unsanitary. The employees have to buy their own soap too and thankfully one was nice enough to let me borrow theirs until I was able to buy some. You have to buy some at a store, which stores are far from hotel.

Other items: if you want anything like another pillow or blanket to make your stay more comfortable, they charge extra for each item. See picture. You also have to bring/buy shampoo/conditioer.

Comfort level: basic. Small pillows the size of small decorative or throw pillows. Paid for comfort room rather than standard and still had barely any room to walk around. Had to store suitcase under the bed to be able to walk around. Bed is just okay. Not a great room but not terrible.

Location: do yourself a favor and find a room closer to the town square area. There are so many other hotels that are cheaper and closer to the attractions. I chose this hotel for the canal view, but since it's so far from everything it wasn't even a cute canal view. It wasn't worth it considering how much I paid (and again, I looked at other hotels that were so much nicer, bigger, closer to everything which is worth more than a view of water in my opinion, and cheaper)

Reception desk: there are only 3 employees so desk hours are about 2-6 so hope you don't need anything out of those hours. Otherwise they are cleaning the rooms/prepping breakfast etc
