Some maintenance would go a long way. Update furniture from the Temu stuff - paint and maintain items. Wouldn’t be a bad place. Currently it’s a little rough. Light switch was broken fire place didn’t work. Fairly dusty rooms. Great location walking to beach - mind you there construction. The septic oozing out of the driveway cap could use some attention.

I stayed a week and daily cleaning consists of trash pickup. I got clean towels once. Never new coffee pods had to look for myself. One day hung the sign for room cleaning nothing was done. I left at 9am returned at 8 pm. on a previous trip I tried talking to the manager and he was very rude did not care. Only channel I could get was Netflix it was in Spanish. Luckly my granddaughter was able to help get it in English. The only reason to stay there is the location.

I really loved the room—the comfy bed, clean bed linens and towels, the quiet atmosphere, and the nice renovation. The staff were very nice and helpful, and it was easy to park the car. It was a perfect getaway next to Zuma. Overall, it was an excellent experience. I will definitely come back.

This part of Malibu (Zuma beach), is this place to be if you’re looking for a LA getaway. The inn had everything we needed; ocean view, outdoor space, king bed. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the place. Rooms definitely need a paint job and windows need to be cleaned. Bathroom is well kept but still it all got the job done. Would highly recommend if looking to stay outside of trendy Malibu (nobu area) and looking for something more scenic and secluded. Point dume hike is a must (unreal views). Also, would highly recommend a trip up to matador state park beach!

Absolutely horrible stay. GM was friendly and welcoming… but my god the cottage room has not been kept up or touched since I stayed here years ago. Smelt of mold and had black spots in corner of shower so we didn’t use it. Given you’re in Malibu and there is no ac in the rooms you leave your windows open for air and a breeze… No screens on windows made that impossible. The mosquitos and flys were flying in non stop so after being bitten we closed the windows and suffocated and sweat alll night long. No sleep. What a let down in a property I used to frequent regularly. Seems owners are waiting to sell it or completely tear it down.

For the cost of one night I was disappointed in how poorly maintained the room was. None of the window or door shutters worked correctly and there was a 1 inch gap at the bottom of the door. The door sill was missing. I had to put towels in the gap to prevent anything outside from crawling in. When you turn the bathroom light on it would turn itself on and off. Must be a short / open in that circuit. The lock to lock the door was a cheap handle lock made for an interior bedroom door. It was just myself and I can tolerate a lot but I would not advise anyone to stay there.

Spider webs everywhere, the property ia dirty and definitely not take care of. There are multimillion dollar homes around the corner of the property and it just doesn't add up.

The courtyard wasn't kept up, the seats were full of cowebs. The grass had water bottles and trash. The light fixtures looked like they were from a Halloween night. Just completely covered in spider webs....

The room was dated, the couch/pull out sofa was dirty and old. The tables had many digs and scratches. The counter also seen better days. The front door was dirty and had left over tape on it. Made it look super uncared for. Ohhh and a massive spider web on the light fixture running down to the door handle was a great way to start the trip.

The bathroom was actually nice...but the tub looked like it could use a power wash.

The fire place in the room almost killed us with the smell of gas. Turned on the switch and after 5-7 mins, we had to exit the room. It was too much. I had to use a portable charger to hold the window open as well as All the latches on the windows were broken. The glass was super dirty its was hard to see the ocean from inside.

And finally the smell, it smelled like sewage. Walking up and down the parking lot hill was truly nauseating.

Overall assessment of this property is 2 stars out of 5.

This is a very charming and beautifully located interesting property. If you’re looking for five starts this is not it but to walk up having our own private balcony overlooking the water and our own hot tub with the gorgeous gardens they have was very special. For the price this place is awesome to enjoy Malibu. The floors in the room and bathroom are extremely slippery when wet be careful.

The overall property was very pretty but wasn’t very well kept. When I got in I was told I was staying in the only room attached to the lobby. I noticed that there was another room across that had a resident living there. While I had been throughly instructed that smoking was not allowed on the property and would result in a fine, I was greeted by the resident smoking multiple times during my stay. I was also kept up by the noise of another room above mine. The room was overall fine besides the bed being broken on one side. The bathroom had no sap, shampoo or conditioner. The location of the property is nice but to say it is walkable to anywhere is a stretch as it sits on a busy street without a sidewalk. The hill leading down to said street is quite steep and has a drain with a constant water flow that causes the already steep hill to become quite slippery and dangerous. The pool hours are 7am to 10pm but when I checked in they let me know it was 7 to 7 and when I followed up, asking if it was open till 10 they told me it was but I had to quiet if I wanted to go after 7pm. Which is fine but odd they would say it’s open until 10 if they don’t want guests going after 7pm. Overall, I would not recommend.

It looks like there might be some updating in progress but our room was awful. The only storage/dresser was broken. The fireplace wall was chipped away with dangerous gaps. The wall paint was patchy and chipped. The floors were dirty and strained. The toliet seat wasn’t hooked properly. This room should not have been rented, especially at the price point. The deck area around the old restaurant was very dangerous and broken, it should be fenced off.

Hotels.com is representing a hotel that is falsifying the quality of their hotel. Their hotel had so much mold inside the room(s) that we couldn’t even stay there. We were forced to stay there one night which I ended up sleeping the night in my car because the amount of mold penetrated the air in the room. We tried to open the windows to get cross breeze so we could breathe fresh air, but some of the windows were missing screens. The toilet in the bathroom ran all night long so eventually, we had to shut the water off to the toilet. The light over the kitchenette turned off and on on its own through throughout the night. The room stated and showed pictures of a working fireplace put upon arrival it did not work. We were told that it might work the following week. The mold in the room was by far the worst part we couldn’t even breathe because it took your breath away the next morning when we went down to the office to let them know we were not able to stay another night because I have multiple sclerosis and a brain tumor and had just come from Cedar Sinai Hospital the following day. The man in the office told us we could not have a refund. So I asked to speak with the manager but he said he wasn’t there and he was out of town. Yet when hotels.com called after we had left the man we had spoken to was indeed the manager, and had lied to us. He still refused to refund us for the night hotels.com refused to refund us for that night as well even though I provided photos.

The Mountain View Room is highly recommended, super spacious, cozy and has a really nice view outside! The nearest beach is a short walk away and plenty of restaurants/stores around, perfectly drivable to any location around Malibu too! I will gladly book again for a nice getaway! ❤️

Room was dirty, ants in the bathroom, dead and alive spiders all over the room.
It was also freezing, which we found out on day two that the heat is functional, just not easy to figure out. We checked in after the front desk closed the first night, and our son did not not have any extra blankets or sheets. We had called ahead and asked for the couch to be made up as a bed.
Staff didn't care much, and as I was asking for spare blankets etc, another guest was in front of me checking out early due to the bugs in their room.

WiFi did not work and the TV cable wouldn’t work since it was connected to the WiFi. I had to use my own hotspot. There was a bad gnat infestation. I had to purchase a bug trap. I have pictures of the WiFi and TV not working and having no connection. I also have pictures of the bugs caught in the trap. My car was covered in gnats at night and in the morning. Staff offered for me to go get a bottle of wine from them for the WiFi and TV not working.

This property is trashed! There was a line of 100+ ants from bahroom door, around two walls, and into the bathroom sink. The bathroom mirror was broken. The towel rack was completely rusted. NONE of the power outlets would hold a plug in place. The floor molding was broken off and jagged in two locations. The outdoor pool and pool house were completely trashed. The in-room jacuzzi tub is smaller than pictured and stained throughout. The staff didn't care about our complaints. This is a one-star hotel that is not worth $50/nights. I would like a refund.

We were shown three room. First room that was booked had water damage/ wet floor. Mattress not fit bed. Cob webs broken furniture. Second room the mold smell so bad did not enter. Third room broken slats on windows head board detached hair on pillow. Bathroom had small roaches. Chipped sink and stains on walls.
We left property it was 9pm when we arrived after long day and this property a nightmare. Clerk was kind and tried but rooms not fit to stay in. And now cannot contact property or you for refund. This not good.

Location is superb. Within walking distance to Point Dume and Zuma beach. Close to restaurants, stores and hiking trails. Front desk staff were kind and helpful.
Rooms are clean, spacious but a little dated especially the cabinets. Toiletries provided are subpar, better to bring your own or buy. Rooms are sound proofed. Plenty of parking but can be challenging to get in and out of.

Great place for a medium beach vacation. Super clean, and quiet, and walk to the beach. You park your car right outside your room. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the warm water of the pool is refreshing after the beach.

Check-in process was terrible. No one on site at the stated check in time. A man drove in and came in for check-in at 3:20. He mumbled something, handed me a form to sign, and pushed a physical key to me. I started to ask a question when he stopped me, pushed another paper to me and said read this first. I almost canceled and walked out.

We walked the property..very worn out…abandoned restaurant on site..dilapidated deck and furniture. Hotel clerk lied to Hotel.com rep saying they were there the. Admitted at lunch. Look at photos on Yelp… recommended avoiding this place.

This hotel is in a great location. But the property isn’t well maintained or updated. Upon arriving the bed frame was broken (front desk guy said he would fix it and give me 50% off for my first night, he fixed it, but he never gave the 50% off). I killed 3 daddy long leg spiders in the bathroom. Also the bathroom fan didn’t work. Nice walk to Zumba beach though.

Location is next door to PCH. Convenient yet a tad noisy during the rush hours. Location is also walking distance to Zume(a) beach. Great place for a morning, day or evening walk along beach. A few good restaurants, and amenities near by. Staff were accommodating and helpful.

You can tell the property is a little older, but it’s well kept and very clean. The parking can get tricky when it’s full because of the steep incline and parking stalls, but I recommend this hotel. I’ll be staying there often as my daughter goes to college.

Raheem was absolutely amazing during our stay—he handled every crisis with care and made us feel well taken care of, which we truly appreciated.

That said, there were some challenges. The blackouts happened often—most of the time, in fact—and I was surprised the hotel didn’t have a backup generator for emergencies. The room also had ants, and I was bitten for two days straight. The sheets were dirty and even ripped, and there were no chargers available with very few outlets for phones. While the property itself is quaint and has a certain charm, it doesn’t feel well maintained.

I had a suite with a patio, which could have been a highlight, but it hadn’t been hosed down before I arrived, which took away from the experience.

Overall, the service from Raheem was wonderful, but the upkeep and amenities of the hotel left a lot to be desired.

We loved our stay there. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us in our room a little earlier so we can get ready for our friends wedding. The suite room was surprisingly large (especially for LA standards).I wish we had a longer stay so we could enjoy the amenities and the beach.

We had a great experience for our one night stay. The person who checked us in gave us a king size bed as an upgraded since they had the availability. We slept great. Everything was clean. Would stay again.
