Just before we went to the room, the clerk said \"I need to prepare the room for you\". I believe she sprayed an air freshener, a LOT of it around the room. It was awful, and even the next morning it lingered. Please do not spray air fresheners, many people, including us, are allergic or sensitive to these artificial fragrances.

The room was not clean. The shower stall kept backing up. The laminate flooring in the room was missing pieces. The worst part was, I noticed that the staff coming in. We’re going through my luggage, looking at my belongings as I would strategically leave my luggage and my belongings in a certain way when I came back to the room, everything was moved around with in inside my luggage.

Was a little tricky to find the hotel, they maintain very secure entrance. Receptionist are available 24 hours. Breakfast consist in a yougurt with granola and everything to prepare a sandwich, orange juice, good coffee, a fruit. Relaxing areas. Outside we can walk in the middle of a lot of threes and quiet residential area. I will like to come back again.

Hotel located at walkable distance to all kinds of dining areas. Very clean, and safe neighborhood. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff was polite and very professional. We enjoyed our stay at this property but didn’t like breakfast because of very poor selection.

In a wonderful part of town, very close to numerous restaurants. Sufficient size of room, comfy bed. Not like some issues around bathroom, shower, even closed doors while showering, leaked onto floor. Sink did not drain very fast. But overall great and clean. Thank you

The hotel is located in chapalita, one of the best neighborhoods in Guadalajara. There are many restaurants and bares close to the hotel. In general, my stay was great but if you are looking for resting and sleeping well and early, it’s probable you should book another hotel because there is a small bar close to the hotel. If I come back to Guadalajara, I will stay again in this hotel.

Great Getaway in Guadalajara

We've stayed here before so we're comfortable with the area and the surrounding. It was an amazing deal first and the owners and employees are always so good. While our room was supposed to have a jetted tub - it may have had but it was located in the patio and it was not usable and certainly not considered a jetted tub when it only has a facet that fills a tiled basin area. That was the only slightest issue. Great location, security and walking distance to all the essentials. Would recommend and stay again

Something changed in the past couple of years becaUse the details that made this hotel nice are all gone. The staff friendliness, the calm music in the common areas, the WiFi, the amenities. I’ll admit, the price is low, but at least clean towels are a bare minimum requirement..

This place gets a fair amount of traffic noise from the street, but there appears to be a nightclub on the premises also? It's after midnight, and I have to be up at 5am, and... yeah no good.

The room itself was really nice and clean. Love the location. Near a lot of restaurants without walking distance. However when we were checking out they charged us for a broken lamp that they said we broke. We were just there one night and we got there really late and we left in the morning. I didn’t even touch the lamp they claimed we broke. I remember seeing that lamp cracked when I got there but I thought they knew about it. So if you are staying there make sure you check the entire room and make sure nothing is cracked or broken or they will charge you for it.

Difficult to get to due to unreported road barriers if using GPS.
Extremely quiet environment.
Extreme security to get into the property, but be prepared to give up your car keys if parking outside. It will be moved, parking is 2 space only but can park 3 or 4 cars deep.
In general good value for the money.
Glass toilet door offers no privacy.

What???

I thought desk staff were very poorly organized. When I first got there I was put in dirty room, you would think staff would know which rooms were clean. The most disturbing thing was, I was asked to pay a 500 pesos deposit for frig drinks. I was not going to use, but pay anyway. But upon leaving for airport, I asked for the deposit to be returned. The clerk stated they did not any money to return the deposit. Waited 25 minutes for him to call around for help, still was not able to come up with the deposit. WOW I have never had this happen before. I stay in hotels 50+ days per year. The clerk finally gave a voucher to my Taxi cab driver, to receive deposit at a later date. WOW!!!!
Truly I was left speechless.

EITHER BOUTIQUE OR NIGHT CLUB HOTEL NOT BOTH

Both my wife and me are avid travelers, both for work and leisure, and when we travel we prefer to stay at boutique hotels. We like small homelike places where you can walk out and get a coffee and enjoy the peaceful setting of a small hotel.
In this particular stay we booked for 7 days and decided to spend the weekend to explore the city after a week of work. The owners are confused if they are a night club or a boutique hotel, on Friday they decided to \"rent\" the terrace for a private party... it's a 3 story house converted to a hotel, doors and windows are poorly sealed for sound, we where staying in the second floor so the terrace was above our room... from 5pm until 2am in the morning it was none stop sound checking, instrument checking, live concert/live music and drunk people walking down the \"glass\" stairs with high heals ... obnoxious party goers that would not understand there was people wanting to rest... two owners from what I can figure out, one of them was a no show and the other one was no help at all... the terrace was booked until 1am and music should have stoped at 12am... none of that happened. I ended up standing at the front desk asking for the police and asking for them to fix the situation... you can figure out the rest of the story sleep was not happening until ~3am...
After pressuring next day we got a refund for one night, but that did not fix the lack of sleep trying to explore the city... very bad experience... I would not stay there next time.

Very inconsiderate towards guest who want to rest

It is a 12-room butique hotlel (small) and had a QuinceIt is a 12-room boutique hotel (small) and had a loud Quinceanera party going on the night of my stay. I ask the staff how was it possible to be so inconsiderate with the hotel guest that were not there for the party but no satisfactory answer given. I had to be at a nearby hospital the next morning and did not rest because of the commotion. If you want to rest, don’t stay at this hotel.

We had reserved 3 months in advance and still when we got there they had given our room to someone else and were fully booked. On the plus side they did send us elsewhere and footed the bill after we yelled at them. Try Casa Montore instead, we were treated like family in a big beautiful home.

Complete disrespect for guests comfort

The hotel is a very small property not fitted to manage party events and they still do creating ENORMOUS discomfort to hotel guests but they simply don´t care.

The hotel has a small terrace and they rent it for private parties. All Saturday morning and afternoon they had workers at the terrace making adaptations for the private party that was going to take place at Saturday night. All day long they hammered, moved furnitire, etc. creating A LOT of noise which made it umbearable to stay at the room. At night the party started since around 7 pm and the noise of the croud and the loud music lasted until 2 pm, again, without any possibility to have any rest. I called to complain and the only answer I got was that they were paying patrons and there was nothing they could do about it.

I believe this facility needs to decide was is their line of business and stick to it. Either they are a hotel and are committed to offer confort to their guests or they become an events venue but they can´t be both. They don´t have the dimensions, facilities and accomodations to manage both line of business simulataneously without creating big distress and disturbance.

Fabulous and helpful staff.

This hotel is not promoted particularly to foreigners (non-Spanish speakers) so I had some concerns over communications. However my concerns were inconsequential the staff were wonderful, the room was cleaned immaculately, the bed was comfortable.

A small mini fridge with beverages and an impressively large selection of candy are available to tempt you.

WiFi was pretty good but the wired connection was really good. Ironically I didn't notice the wall mounted Ethernet port until late in my stay and when I tested I discovered up/down speeds respectable by any standards (well in excess of 40mps).

I enjoyed it so much I'm going back to stay again this Friday/Saturday,

Hotel in Transition

This hotel was in the middle of remodeling when we were there. The room didn't look anything like the photos on their website. I think they staged a few rooms for the photos. The room was very minimal, the shower was missing tiles on the floor, the sliding door to get to the patio you could barely open. The maids were friendly and helpful but the rest of the staff not so much. They showed us a room that had been remodeled and it looked great but it wasn't being used for guests. This hotel will be very nice when they are done remodeling but until then I wouldn't recommend staying there.

Convenient hotel in a great area and great service

Wonderful stay at this hotel. Great customer service and property. Our stay in the Deluxe King Room was great and overall the service was excellent. One thing that was not mentioned anywhere in the room description, however, is that there is no door dividing the room with the shower/toilet areas; not a big deal, but worthy of it being in the description, I think.

We arrived late, so maybe that's why our room was so funky. The room was small, on street level with big shades over the windows and no air conditioning. The light switches were hard to figure out and the entrance, closet area and room were all separated into different areas, giving the room a disjointed feeling. The shower was very slippery and unsanitary looking. Also, they provided almost NO drinking water, except for very small waters you can buy. I found that very cheap -- especially for the cost of the room. As others have said, the bed was very comfortable and the staff, especially the night manager, were great; but we won't go back.

Well we had a great stay at the Clarum. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The Hotel location was located near many very good restaurants and shopping and not too far from the EXPO center for trade shows. The sour part of our stay was the second to the last day I came back to my room to find that every pocket in my backpack had been opened and a large sum of money had been taken. Also, my wife's bag had been opened and money was taken. The manager made an incident report and we will see what happens. We thought our belongings were safe as the hotel manually allows people to enter through a secured locked door. There are only 9 rooms with few guests entering the hotel in a very safe neighborhood. Overall great boutique hotel with a bitter ending.

Hotel was great! Hospitality was superb.Walking distance to plenty of high end restaurants and lounges. I recommend for the terrace to be updated with modern furniture. Overall a great experience. Excellent hotel, very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. The manager would check personally if everything was ok, very nice and modern interiors and a hidden gem. Also the location is very safe and the neighbourhood has a lot of nice restaurants. Just the breakfast at the hotel is not too great but there is a nice cafe 5 mins away which is very good. I would definitely stay again, highly recommended.

I have stayed at the Clarum 101 many times over the past year, every time I stay I am greeted as family and helped to my room. The room is comfortable, clean, and amazingly private. The neighborhood is superb with fine restaurants and night life in a short walk, and and the staff does everything in their power to make you feel at home. The Clarum is one of the best keep secret gems of Guadalajara. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. As someone that travels the world for work I must pay this hotel an amazing compliment. I want to call special attention to the hotel employees, they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Jared at the front desk during the day will help you with anything you need and speaks perfect English.

The hotel itself it is very nice, clean, comfortable. They give you toiletries, hot water is available. They have security box, and bar/refreshments available. I would prefer that the frigo is empty so I can use it for the food and drinks I buy. They also don't have coffee makers and it will be very nice to have one available to have coffee and teas in the morning and night time. A fitness center is also needed. They have a rooftop but really is not available for guest, it is pretty much for parties. There is one open/living room where you can chill and relax or have visitors, this is great. Breakfast is not included and their restaurant have decent food but nothing outstanding, the price is reasonable but just around chapalita you can find much better food for the same price. For the price, they miss those features that other hotels offer but still it is a very nice place to stay.

The hotel is cold. The room had a broken window that couldn't be closed. i had to try to close it with the curtain and the couch. The bathroom is super cold as well. Location is fine. Decoration of the hotel could be improved, its supposed to be 'minimalist' if that means a plain chair over a concrete floor. Stay somewhere else.

Not on the radar...

This hotel is so exclusive, that the taxi driver did not know where it was. When traveling in Mexico, travel agencies NEED to write the COLONIA on the address. Mexican communities are recognized by specific community names..for example \"colonia Tepeyac\" or \"colonia Hidalgo\". Poor taxi drivers, they couldn't figure it out until they called their dispatch station.
Yes . We found it...in a very uppidity community. We had complimentary wine the night we arrived and breakfast the next day.
The room was visually appealing, until I noticed not one, but two dead roaches near the closet. Didn't bother complaining ..My husband and were to tired to complain. We don't plan on using this place again.

Nice location, but service lacking

We picked this place because we were looking for a quiet weekend stay outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown. And the location of Clarum was great: in Zapopan, an affluent suburb 15 minutes away from Guadalajara. Within walking distance of Stabucks, local shops and some good restaurants. However, we rented the master suite and expected an immaculate room, but found the furniture worn and some of the bathroom fixtures grimy. Also since the place did not have a gym, we were looking forward to taking advance of the running path and yoga classes nearby (as described on the website). However, when we asked the concierge, he said \"I have no idea where that is\". Also, when we asked what we should do at night, he replied \"I don't know but I can call the track company for some recommendations\". So the staff was useless (and didn't speak English). However, the food was great. A so-so experience overall.

Beautiful small hotel

The hotel is nicely located in the Chapalita area. The staff is really helpful and they make every effort to make your stay a good one. The room is a bit small for the price you are paying, but they have made good use of the available space.

really nice place

Location is excellent, especially if you get to enjoy Sunday's evening activities at the nearby park (roundabout). Service is always nice and friendly, and the rooms are clean, neat, and well cared for. Great find.
