We were relying on the fact that the shuttle service was available to pick you up from the train station, which was the impression we got from the listing. When we arrived, after a long day of travel, we were told that the shuttle was not available and we should \"call a taxi\". They didn't offer to call a taxi for us or anything. I really have never experienced anything like this when traveling at a hotel at this level. We were able to get a taxi in this little town and take a €12 ride up to the hotel where the clerk asked me to show them the email to try and prove that I was wrong. In the end, the email was not very specific and I received no apology or anything. We got off to a very bad start. The property is beautiful, spotlessly clean, and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good as well. But the staff, except for the shuttle drivers, who are really wonderful, were really rude. It was such a lovely place, but we were really turned off by the desk staff. Please know you are limited to two shuttle trips per day so if you don't have a car you are paying for taxis. There is no food on site after breakfast so you have to figure that as well.

This is a gorgeous, family run hotel in the hills just 5 minutes drive above Levanto, with wonderful views down to the sea. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was simple and beautifully done (and great coffee). But we stayed in mid-April and their restaurant wasn’t open yet, with no guest bar either or any spaces indoors accessible to sit or eat/drink during the day (except for breakfast) or evening.
In the summer there will be terraces open and the pool - but out of season, we felt they were missing an opportunity to use their indoor spaces too. And with no in-room kettle or coffee-making facilities - it was just a bit too basic. We’d go again - it is truly lovely - but in the summer next time.

Set up in the hills overlooking Levanto, this was a lovely & quiet hotel. They also provide bus shuttle services into Levanto & return.
They provide a lovely self service buffet breakfast inside or out on the terrace.
Once in Levanto you purchase train tickets to all of Cinque Terra towns, and the National Park entry tickets

What an amazing location, right in the hills overlooking quaint homes and a church whose bells you can listen to. Also has an infinity pool overlooking the valley. The breakfast was amazing, many homemade items. The staff were pleasant and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful get away in the country.

Al Terre di Mare was the perfect place for our 3 nights in Cinque Terre. The hotel is charming and clean, with gorgeous views and a wonderfully-appointed room with everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing and we benefited greatly from the hotel shuttle which transported us to and from the town and the train station multiple times. We were thrilled to be staying near but not in the 5 towns and Levanto is a great town. Pool season was over so we didn’t use it but the owners packed us a beautiful breakfast the morning we left because it was so early. Everyone at the hotel was helpful and friendly. We loved it and would stay there again any time. Grazie!

Beautiful property with views of the mountainous area around you and the sea in the distance. Nice breakfast. Curvy mountain roads to get up to the hotel. We thought the description said they had laundry facilities but that must have been a language difference.. they have a service where you can send your laundry out for a fee. Levanto a great choice to stay as you can catch the ferry to the Cinque Terre, it has nice beaches, a few bars along the water. Great choice. We were there 3 nights.

The property was breathtaking. The staff was very helpful and the shuttle to Levanto was great. The pool area was very nice and had a great view. The only negative would be that there are no food options you can walk to but you can book the shuttle which is quick and easy.

Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the valley and the sea. It was clean and comfortable. Although a five minute drive from the beach and town centre, the shuttle van was convenient. Levanto is a much nicer place to stay than the Cinque Terra towns as it’s bigger and not nearly so crowded. Easy to get to all of the towns by train and boat. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were very friendly.

Upon checkout was forced to pay so called \"baby fee\" because we had a 2 y o toddler with us. We didn't receive any upgrades which could explain the charge and were never worned about it at check in. It was 40 euros for a toddler to sleep in the same bed as us for a night. The hotel with its 31 rooms is set out as a mini-village with the rooms set off open alleyways at three different levels. The alleyways open onto larger courtyards where you can sit and enjoy the scenery or enjoy that well earned drink after you daytime trek. All rooms have views onto either the mountains or onto the valley and the coastline below.
We had one of the Superior rooms for our 2 night stay in early September. Lovely with great space and a wonderfully comfortable bed.
The hotel management are very friendly and helpful.
There are COVID-19 controls in place. Strategically placed hand washes/sanitisers are evident. Wearing masks in communal areas is mandatory.
The breakfast buffet is served by the staff to whom you make your plate requests. They and only they handle your food before it is served .The system works well.
Other than breakfast the hotel only offers a bar and coffee service. There is no restaurant per se - so lunch and dinner need to be taken elsewhere (unless you decide to make your own meal and eat-in).
There is a swimming pool, though we did not get around to using it on this occasion.
Parking at the property is controlled. There are 31 rooms and 31 parking spaces. There are also spaces in the covered garage (at extra cost).
Also of note is that the hotel operates a shuttle service which can be used for downtown Levanto drop-offs and pick-ups. This can prove handy as finding a parking space in town can be a challenge - particularly at weekend.

A lovely spot out of the way in Levanto. Especially good if you want to escape the crowds in the Cinque Terre villages. It is 2km outside the town of Levanto, not really walkable in the summer heat as it is a climb up to the hotel. I would recommend having a rental car as the hotel shuttle doesn’t operate from 11.10-4.50 and there is no restaurant or shop nearby so we did go hungry a couple of days. The hotel does have ice cream and crisps and drinks at the pool.
The hotel shuttle is very handy for getting to the train/town but you need to book in and often we were too late and had to get taxis (only €10 so not too bad)

Accurate photos except for the power lines that run on either side of the property. Beds were comfortable, bathroom super clean and nicely tiled, air conditioning unit was annoying (loud, gurgled & automatically shut off every time the door opened), manual exterior shutters only diffused the morning light (no black-out curtains), and without screens they provided no guard against bugs.
You're a captive audience here, so enjoy the charming setting on the hillside above Levanto: there's nothing worth doing within walking distance of this hotel. Shuttle to town with advance notice and for a hefty fee (not sure there even is a car rental in Levanto). Count on 7 minutes to the beach driving, or a 35 minute walk. The hotel has a nice, quiet pool but little else to do unless sitting in a hard chair on a patio suits you.

BE AWARE - This is not a pet-friendly hotel. Even though the small print indicates pets are permitted, we were informed - via email (AFTER booking a non-refundable room) - that pets cannot be left alone - at any time - in the room. We have never come across that restriction before - and it was quite a shock. The hilly Cinque Terre area is challenging enough without having to bring both our small dogs with us. After threatening to leave - and pointing out that the dog restriction was not made known to us (why isn't the policy in the small print provided on the Hotels.com website?) - we were permitted to sign an agreement the hotel already had printed up that we would be responsible for any damages caused by the pets. (Isn't that standard practice anyway?) Needless to say, we were not a bit happy.
Furthermore, we took advantage of the van service to downtown not knowing there was a 5 euro charge for doing so - a charge we only earned about upon checking out. IF you're going to provide a service with fee, there should be some sort of notice to guests.

Perfect hotel for exploring Conqe Terre
Situated high in the hills overlooking Levanto, this hotel is a real find. It’s well priced for the facilities it offers but it’s the service and location which make it much more than just worth the money. The staff are uniformly excellent, and the atmosphere is exactly what you’d hope to experience in such a perfect spot. A shuttle service is offered to and from the town centre and railway station, but frankly the walk is no hassle at all. The only small glitches did little to take the shine off the whole stay - temperamental temperature controls for the shower and air conditioning - but everything else more than made up for that. Another highlight was the breakfast - you won’t need lunch afterwards. Very highly recommended.

Had a few drinks on the deck - great service from the waitress. All of the staff were very friendly and spoke English well enough.
Only improvement would be plusher non-decorative pillows in the room - we always throw off the non-washable bedding items, which left us with a pancake of a pillow!

The free shuttle to and from the hotel to the train station and downtown was very nice as the hotel is a bit away from town. However the shuttle only had certain times it ran which made it so we had to take a 10 euro cab ride a few times. Not a big deal but make sure you sign up for shuttle rides and plan your dinner and other plans around the shuttle unless you want to get a cab which there are only a few and you have to request in advance or you will be waiting a long time.

We originally booked a hotel in the town of Lavento but when we discovered this hotel that had a pool and was just in an ideal spot in the countryside we decided to book it instead.The staff are friendly the rooms are clean and the breakfasts are varied .They offer a shuttle service into town for a small fee.We spent a week there and were well looked after by the staff that did all they could to make us comfortable.I highly recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to visit the area.

Great place to stay to explore the wonderful coast
Located up a steep road about 3km from the coast, the views from the hotel are great. If you don't bring a car, the hotel offers a shuttle bus service for a small fee. Very comfortable and clean rooms (no tea or coffee facilities in the room) each with shutters and AC to keep them cool in the summer. Each room has a terrace with shade canopy and comfortable chairs The infinity pool (towels provided) is down a path about 100m from the main buildings with sunbathing terrace. Breakfasts were self service with a good choice except a little more prepared fresh fruit would have been a plus for us. With a car, we had our own personally reserved space in the underground car park. Very friendly and helpful staff. Levanto is a great place to explore the coast in both directions via the fantastic train service. Would definitely recommend and go again.

The staff were amazing. Kiara was so kind and helpful as was the where staff of this family owned and run hotel. If you are tired of the overcrowding on CT this is the place to stay and get away from the Disneyland like experience in the towns.

The hotel is situated outside of the town so it's quiet and has a beautiful view of the valley. The shuttle service to and from town is cheaper than the parking at the station. Hotel has a buffet breakfast that puts both North American hotels to shame.

Decent hotel perhaps a little expensive
Hotel situated a couple of miles from town so transport required, not an easy walk. There is a shuttle which is €5 each way , but you can park by the station for 24 hours for about the same amount. Room was spacious and well equipped though if you want a balcony or sea view, you should ask for this.

Mostly sightseeing at the very busy Cinque Terre but loved coming back to levanto where is was peaceful and beautiful. The staff at alla terra Del mere were so lovely, breakfast was decent and the free shuttle came in useful. Only one little issue, the air conditioning is not great and our room never got cooler than 25 degrees! That said, we will defiantly return

Peaceful hotel with nice rooms away from the crowds of tourists. It was a pleasure coming back to this hotel every night and the pool is a bonus. It's set off in the hills with beautiful views. Far enough away to feel private and secluded but close enough to really enjoy the region's attractions. We loved Levanto as well. The guidebooks don't mention it so the crowds are reasonable and is charming with lots of nice restaurants and beach. If we return some day, this is where we will stay. There is a hotel van that takes you down to Levanto and back. The only downside to the hotel is that the van doesn't run for several hours in the middle of the day so we had to kill time until 5pm or pay for a taxi to go back sooner.

Lovely friendly staff and great views of mountains and ocean. Convenient shuttle most of the time. Very clean hotel and room. Good continental breakfast and afternoon snacks and drinks. Drawbacks are that you really need a car to do any exploring off the beaten track. The air conditioning is just inadequate. It goes on for a few minutes and then goes off. The staff really needs to adjust it to give more discretion to the guest. A couple extra pillows would also be nice.

Great location to stay when you visit the Terra Ciniqoue. The hotel itself is located out of town on a steep hill with beautiful views. There is parking & an elevator that will take you up to the reception area. But, beware you will need to climb stairs to most of the bedrooms. The room was nice & specious, so was the bathroom. Breakfast was reasonable. It is served from 8:30 so if you need to leave earlier try to find some other arrangement. The service was good & obliging. They provided us with all the needed information about trains & bout trips etc. & you can pay for a shuttle minibus to take you to Lavento town centre & back. The hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel but had only a bar, no restaurant and no room service, all of which I found unacceptable, taking into account the hotel ‘s isolated location, out of town.

This is not a 4 star Hotel. It has no Restaurant or proper Kitchen. Hot food is not served. The Breakfast is adequate, again no hot food available. There is a small bar which doubles as a Breakfast Bar for breakfast. There is no bar person or comfortable indoor seating. The heating in the bed room did not work. I realise I did not read the coded description of the Hotel properly. Overall, bad value for money.

This hotel is a great place to stay when checking out Cinque Terre. It's a beautiful place to stay; we even spent a day just relaxing by the pool, rather than tackling the crowds around Cinque Terre. Levanto is worth a visit.

This hotel is beautiful, located in the hills so it's definately alot of walking uphill on a narrow road to get back tot he hotel from town, but in our opinion it was worth it, the views are splendid. The hotel has the perfect setting to sit outside looking out to the ocean while sipping the beverage of your choice and relaxing. The only downfall is that the hotel does not have a kitchen and so does not serve anything other than Breakfast, but the hotel does allow 2 shuttle trips a day, 1 out to the city or train station, and 1 back to the hotel. We took advantage of that shuttle and spent the day exploring all the villages of Cinque Terra. That was one of my favorite days on our trips. I will book at this hotel again when we come back.

Very steep drive to get to hotel. Walking distance to train station (25mins). Shuttle service available. We had a car and found it a good location for exploring Cinque Terra. Loved it and would go back again.

We spent three nites at this very nice hotel. The rooms are quite comfortable with excellent linens and towels. Great reliable WiFi. Great view of the ocean from the hotel front porch. Nice place to enjoy a bottle of wine (nice offering of local Cinque Terre wines). The staff is very professional and accommodating. Hotel provides shuttle service to downtown Levanto. Serves breakfast, but does not offer dinner. But there are ample choices in Levanto.

Fabulous Cinque Terre location as it is away from all the tourists and the \"honky tonk\". Very nice quiet location with easy access to the train to the five towns of Cinque Terre. The people running this hotel were most friendly and helpful. This is a place I would stay at again and recommend to anyone wanting to visit Cinque Terre but not wanting the hassle of going to the hotels/inns in the five villages. Sunsets from the balcony with a glass of wine are fabulous.

A dreamy place in Levanto
The hotel is well situated and clean. The waitresses are friendly. The pool area is beautiful and there is an overall peace and quiet that every tourist should experience. The sun just shines brighter there.
That being said I wish the hotel had a few healthy snacks/small plates for lunch i.e. Bruchettas, small sandwiches, small salads and such. Once breakfast is over, one basically has to wait to eat dinner starting at 7:00 p.m. on. It's difficult to get to the village once the shuttle service from the hotel stops (around 10:30-11:00) and there is only one taxi for the whole village. Therefore getting around is difficult.

Great base for Cinque Terre
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is located just outside of Levanto, up quite a large hill. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The hotel runs a shuttle bus back and forth to town. You get one free return trip and then each additional trip is 5 euros per person. We had a car but chose to take the shuttle to avoid having to find parking in the town. It was quite convenient. They will drop you off in the town centre near the beach or at the train station.
We had a lovely room. We had booked a standard double room but were sent an email offering an upgrade to a deluxe room with a small charge. We took advantage of this and were glad we did. The room was spacious and there was quite a good sized balcony with a nice view.

Wonderful five days stay to visit the Cinque Terre at leisure. Shuttle service to and from the train station was convenient with very friendly drivers. Also used the shuttle to and from Levanto restaurants. Good European style breakfast with lots of coffee and cappuccino upon request. Free parking for those with a car. Wonderful views.

Great location for Cinque Terre
If you want to tour the Cinque Terre, Levanto is a great place to stay. The train takes you to the first town of Monterrosso in 5 minutes and this great hotel has a shuttle bus that drives right to the train station (and will pick you up if you call them upon arrival-take advantage of this because we didn't realize and hiked up the hill which was very tiring). The hotel was very pretty up on a hill in Levanto and had a beautiful view of the sea and surrounding hills. The room is nice with a comfortable bed and bathroom. The staff is excellent and couldn't have been more helpful to us, even driving us to the station early on the morning of our departure. The included breakfast is a cold buffet style but has plenty of delicious choices to fuel you for a day of touring. Do yourself a favor and stay here on your next trip to Cinque Terre.

Pros and Cons, but Mostly Good
I thought the hotel grounds were beautiful, especially the terrace overlooking the sea in the distance. The rooms were spacious and well designed. The bed/pillows were not especially comfortable and the A/C was not very efficient, but overall we liked the room and the hotel's features. We were very disappointed that the pool was closed while we were there in late May. I didn't see anything about its opening dates on hotels.com when I booked the room, so I was expecting to use the pool a lot, but it doesn't open until June. The other main disappointment was the breakfast. I travel in Europe about once a month and always choose places with free breakfast, and I think this hotel had the least impressive breakfast of anywhere I've been. The coffee in the urn was usually cold and not very good, so we started ordering espresso and lattes, which were much better. But the pastry/bread and meat/cheese selection was pretty limited. I'm used to a lot of fresh veggies at European breakfast buffets, but there were none on offer here. One other oddity is the lack of a do not disturb sign to indicate when you don't need maid service. The doors are not traditional, so it explains why they don't have the signs, but it would be better if there was some system in place for guests to easily indicate when they did not require service.

Peaceful getaway
It was our first time staying in Levanto Italy. The reception we received was amazing. It was as if we were part of the hotel staffs family. They fulfilled all our requests without hesitation. Even when I lost my cell phone , they found it in their hotel shuttle van and are sending it to me thru courier service to my next destination. They answer their emails promptly. The rooms are lovely and the veiws are incredible. I look forward to staying there again soon.
