This was my third visit and it was like home from home. Without exception the staff from cleaners, maintenance, of corse Curro entertainments , Slav and all his staff are all wonderful. The pools are kept in first class condition. Smoothies in the Plaza lounge are delicious for breakfast. Food in the Plaza Beach restaurant is varied and delicious with good portion sizes. Entertainment In Plaza Beach Monday, Wednesday and Friday are superb.

Stayed 2 bed 2 bath which was very spacious. Comfortable beds and very clean. Beach towels provided. 2 on site restaurants.
Excellent pool area with plenty of sunbeds.
On site supermarket for essentials. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Great boardwalk in front of hotel to either walk to harbour or La Cala town. Mercadona supermarket across road.
Overall a great stay and would return

Good but needs updating

Great location and good apartments. However, the propery is \"itred\". Needs modernising. Also very disappointed with the apartment we were given, even though the complex was quiet and not at full occupancy. Our balcony had no view and felt very boxed in when you were seated on it. Yet, I'd booked an apartment with a sea view - it was only from the living room window, and not the balcony. Otherwise, place is clean and convenient.

Absolute incredible. The staff always go above and beyond especially Diago & Paula in reception & Curro the kids club worker!! So lucky to have these staff, they are a credit to the company!! It did the job to stay close to my parents renting a condo. Beds rock hard and we had singles assuming no king available? Very late heck in time of 5pm. Checkout, no thank you for staying, how was your stay etc. Found staff not very friendly except for at the La Plaza restaurant on site. Food sub par there. ABBA show was great.

We had a two bedroom apartment, very spacious, reasonably well appointed, only shortfall was they didn’t have a spatula for the kitchen.
Beds were very comfortable.
Plaza lounge was ok, had entertainment three nights a week, but it doesn’t change much, at least while we were there, so after first week , mehh.

Great position with many facilities.

This complex is in a great position, right on the beach and next to the boardwalk. It has a really large outdoor pool and an indooor one, a laundrette, restaurant and bar on the site The gardens in particular are really lovely and well kept. There are several very good and stylish restaurants next to the complex but the only small supermarket was closed meaning a longish walk across the road bridge and beyond to the nearest shop - not great if carrying wine, bottles wate etc etc. The apartment was spacious and well equipped but i would have liked a change of towels and bedlinen (without having to pay for this) as we were staying for seven nights.

Stayed here 3 times before so knew what to expect. Lovely complex with parking, security gate, clean & comfortable accommodation. Great cafe/restaurant on the site and numerous restaurants and a supermarket just round the corner. We had paid for terrace with sea view but the view of the sea could only be seen if you stood up on the terrace! Shame as we couldn't sit with our drinks and look out. The only view was a wall. I'll double check when we return.

Overall a decrnt property, good sized rooms, all you need for a self catering holiday. The property is just a little dated.
Surprisingly a deep pool almost 2.5m a nice change. If you want to eat out almost every kind of restaurant out front, but does cost, no cheap and cheerful types.
The onsite shop not to overpriced.
Staff all good.

We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids 17 & 15.

We did have some issues with the booking itself as we got a call from macdonal resorts asking if we could move rooms part way through the holiday, i said no and they made the rooms work, but i was very disappointed in this, as the woman on the phone did not appear to care or understand why it could be a issue.

Excellent vacation spot if you are traveling with small children. We enjoyed the kids pool, access to the beach and availability of the high chair for our toddler. If your kid is over the age of 5 - there are lots of activities for them organized by the property which looked fun. A few restaurants and a small grocery store were very handy! We will definitely consider this place if traveling to Malaga again!

Doña Lola resort - another good McDonald resort

It was a good experience- this one was our second stay at a McDonald resort in Mijas. On arrival the person who did our checking was wonderful and very helpful (Antonio). Property was in good condition although our apartment building did not have an elevator(though we did not need it). Service staff was very helpful- we had an issue with the electricity and it was fixed immediately by replacing the electrical breaker. Same 4 replacement towels/toilet paper/kitchen paper/dishwasher salt/rinse aid. Facilities were very good: pool, restaurants, etc. Scheduled Events were also good: ABBA, wine tasting, sports events etc. Pool restaurant food and service was excellent. My only complaint and not trying to be picky is that the bed mattresses were hard same 4 the pillows. The other thing is that when I went to return my keys the gentleman at the reception offer me help with a cab ( we were driving), but he did not ask about how was my stay or something similar

We were robbed, room was unsafe, window lock was broken, thieves broke into room in the middle of the night, terrible, money purses wallets handbags stolen from 1st floor apartment. Really upset us, ruined the holiday. Didn’t the hotel have some sort of duty of care that our room should have been safe, we could have been attacked/killed??
Management were horrendous, told us it had never happened before. Hotel initially told us they had no proof,there are footprints on external walls as they climbed in, handprints on external window frames, camera in hotel grounds, hotel then sent maintenance next morning when we were out, told us the window was not faulty, 4 people checked the windows on the morning after the robbery, it would not lock. Today I was told 1st floor apartments are having burglar railings installed on 1st floor rooms. Hotel told me to claim my losses through my travel insurance.WHY?? This was the hotels duty of care to have us in a secure room with working locks on the windows. I have to question in a resort of this size that a robber knew to climb to my first floor terrace to my window thst didn’t lock to rob us when there we’re probably 100 first floor rooms to climb to?? Seems like a inside job that someone knew our window didn’t lock??

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was very comfortable. Sofa in the living area could have been better, but it was a sofabed so not so good in sofa mode. We booked as a hotel and so assumed that normal hotel conditions apply and so daily cleaning and refresh of toiletries would happen, but none of this was included. The rest of the resort was very nice with decent facilities loads of places to eat inside or just outside the premises. The pools were good and direct beach access was great too.

Stunning gardens

The gardens around the complex are stunning and very well maintained. All the paths and public areas are very tidy and litter free. The complex borders the beach, the boardwalk and the sea and there are two very good outdoor swimming pools, one very large and one heated and one indoor pool. There are some excellent restaurants within two minutes walk.

The complex is very good in many ways, but is in need of modernisation in the block we stayed in , Cristina.
The choice of eating places is good.
The best place was the Plaza Beach. The staff were all very friendly, the food was excellent and the entertainment was very good.

The leisure centre was well equipped and easy to access. La Plaza Lounge was staffed by a lovely girl called Carolina who worked extremely hard and was welcoming to all visitors. The food served was always first class, No matter how busy it was. Corrus provided excellent entertainment and was welcoming to all nationalities. Spanish lessons, Wine tasting and Paella demonstration with the help of Chris from La Plaza Beach. I'm only sorry I missed the garden tour because the gardens were exquisite. It was good to have an adult only pool. I had three treatments with the masseur Francisco but was expecting more services according to the brochure. \" with qualified beauticians\". La Plaza Beach was also staffed with excellent staff who were welcoming me by name and knowing my drink requirements by about my third visit. The Entertainment on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays was really worth booking a table for. There was a minor problem with teeny tiny little antlike insects in the kitchen which appeared to come up through the sink. I kept the plug in which helped to control them. There was a note in the information book that said electricity would be charged at the end of my stay so i was being very sparing with the electric but it transpired that this only applied to Timeshare properties and not those booked through Expedia. If i had a worry about anything the staff in reception always sorted it out without any delay. Diego was the person I had most contact with.

Check in is late in the day but this didn't bother us as we arrived about 5.00pm anyway. The apartment was very nice, and had everything we needed, good bathromm and shower, the only issue was the room was set up as 2 single beds so we just pushed them together. As we were near the pool in Christina 102 we did find an issue with the lights being on all night outside and the curtains being thin, I had to drape 2 towels over the railings outside the window to get to sleep but apart from that everything was good value. The added value is having several very good restaurants on site, the Indian and Italian were used, and both were excellent, we would return without hesitation.

There was an issue with the apartment next door so we were upgraded to a front row unit while they carried out some repair work.
The apartment was amazing with everything you would need. The views of the sea and boardwalk were amazing.
All the staff were masks and social distancing was observed at all times.
The location is great for walks up and down the boardwalk and there are plenty of facilities locally.

The flat we stayed seemed to be refurbished and clean. It was great to be on the beach. I felt the property itself was quite cramped - there was not much space between the buildings. They also charge 35 Euro for extended the check out time till 2:00pm ( check out time is 10:00am) which is more than a day rate. I don’t think that was fair.
The property is between kind of a motorway and the sea.

Our week Dona Lola stay was excellent! The part we stayed in was quiet, our apartment was on the third floor and we had a view of the sea. Room very clean. Kids loved the swimming pool especially splash time sessions where they used their inflatable ring (buy from shops over the road) Gardens beautiful. English mini market, small shop and loads of restaurants to choose from on site - recommend Da Vinci - excellent food and restaurant by the swimming pool. Shops over road too - Supersol for shopping, if you have a car Lidl & Aldi not far. Great location and lovely beach walkway.

Overall the property was excellent. Very well equipped for self catering. Lovely pools and adult pool was a great place to get away from noisy kids pool. During the day there were a couple of things to keep the younger children entertained like pool games and art. For older kids and teens there was a games room for an hour a day which yhey enjoyed. At night there was no kids or teens entertainment so just hanging around if they were lucky enough to make some friends. A few really good shows at night for adults. Restaurants on site were pretty good and a good variety a couple of minutes walk. It is a lovely complex and overall we had an excellent holiday. Would definitely have liked to see something more for older kids in the evenings but we would definitely go back.

Just returned from another holiday at Dona Lola Resort. Cannot fault the staff or amenities, all are very good. Beautifully kept gardens and pool areas.
Plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as the onsite restaurant.
There are lots of organised activities available including lovely walks along the broad walk with an amazing marine biologist.
Apartment very clean, but in need of modernisation (kitchen, bathroom and furnishings all needed updating). There was no midweek clean / change of towels, these now are extras which you have to pay for if required.
We really love this place and hope Macdonald’s management will undertake an improvement programme to update the apartments ASAP.

Our allocation of a second apartment was excellent. The reception staff were really lovely and very helpful. Our first apartment was ground floor, slight problem with ants trying to join us for dinner and the bathroom. We advised the management who in turn immediately offered us another apartment, this turned out to be far superior, lovely view of the beach! Excellent facilities, although 2 single beds the staff offered to change this to a double, we were very happy to leave as it was. Bedding very fresh, good towels. We didn't have a maid service, no need really as we prefer the privacy, plus my hubby likes to do the washing up!! Even though there's a dishwasher! We would request this apartment again.
