Property was clean, had a shuttle to town but we never used it due to time we needed was to early. We did however use public transportation that was right outside the hotel. Was very cheap. And we saved money by not having to get taxis. Rooms were cleaned daily. Breakfast was great. Variety of options. Eggs, pancakes, different fruit. Over all was a great stay. Close to restaurants and stores

We booked 5 nights in a bautiful sea view room with a fairly large balcony. Breakfast was lovely, although the hot food did dry up quickly especially the scrambled eggs. Dinner one night and it was nice. The staff were amazing, each of the restaurant staff were very very attentive.
The area of SantAgata didnt actually suit us for the 5 nights as we had to shuttle down to Sorrento each day or evening. Not much in the SantAgata area to see or do but the few restaurants they have were great!
Our choice to cut out stay short by 2 nights of the 5 night stay.
The shuttle service was great to have though.
Nice pool area and pool staff and reception staff we could not fault. Each of them went out of their way to help.
One thing I'd mention is getting to the shuttle bus from Sorrento train station......it wasnt easy and we ended up on the municipal bus. Wasnt to awful in the end we got there. Thanks to Marco for his patience with me and the directions!

Well my stay started off great. I booked
One night and was upgraded to an ocean view suite. I decided to book a second night and was then downgraded. Not so great. Since I was travelling with my daughter and granddaughter it was very inconvenient to have to change room . Hotel is very Nice and full of history. The things to be aware of it is not mobility friendly many stairs and not easy with a stroller either. The hotel is not kiddie friendly at all. The POOL closes at 6!!! Which is ridiculously early ! Service wise I would say most are pleasant but communication seems to be N issue I requested a rollaway bed and was not advised of an extra charge. When it was added to my bill I had to really go at it with the front desk staff. The manager finally credited me for the charges. I would say the most pleasant staff member is Elaria at the front desk. She is very kind and attentive. Also a bartender who is a doll . Didn’t catch his name tho.
As far as the food service … the breakfast is very good. The restaurant for dinner not so much. The pasta we had was terrible. Overcooked and no flavour. We ordered the set menu at $30 euro and were deeply disappointed. So all in all a 6/10 for me. Things to be aware of .. extra charges, lots of different stairs, food very blah …

Good location and convenient for local restaurants and shops. Lovely view over the bay from the restaurant. Our room had a small balcony. Daily maid service, but toiletries weren’t filled upon arrival so needed to have this corrected. Would stay here again.

Just had an absolutely amazing week at this beautiful hotel. All the staff were so helpful & polite. They have a shuttle bus to take you down to Sorrento if you want to go or you can walk into St Agata in less than five minutes where there are plenty of shops & restaurants. Food at the hotel was very good with lots of options for breakfast & evening meal. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone & we definitely intend to return in the future.

The hotel grounds are very beautiful and well taken care of. Our room was also clean and spacious.
We came in a car, but also took advantage of their shuttle service to Sorrento one evening, which was easy and convenient.
We really enjoyed breakfast selection at this hotel as well as the options for lunch and dinner.
There’s also a cute little town a short walk from the premises where you can get some groceries and souvenirs.
If we ever come back to this beautiful region in the future, we would be happy to stay at Hotel Jaccarino again.

Beautiful and relaxing pool and view. They had cold water in their lobby and gave us a free reusable bottle upon check-in which was very helpful in the hot summer heat. Everything was very expensive but service was great and amenities couldn’t be beat. Our room was clean and very retro style. However the surrounding area is not walkable as this hotel is on a hill. If you want to get down to Sorrento you have to call a taxi or take the hotel’s free shuttle, which was very convenient.

We searched hotels for a few weeks before booking the Jaccarino. We must have looked at 40-50 hotels in the region before settling on this one and, after our week long visit, we were glad we did!

The staff are superb, friendly and efficient while not being intrusive. The main areas, pool, bar and restaurants are all very nice places to be. The bed was comfortable and super clean each day. The WiFi was fast and the food and drink were both reasonably priced and very tasty!

There are a number of great restaurants within a short (and mostly flat) walk and the free shuttle bus to Sorrento was clean, reliable and well driven.

The whole place has an authentic 'Italian family' atmosphere (it is NOT a faceless corporate chain hotel) and the personal touch of the staff made us feel very welcome.

Would we stay again and / or recommend to family and friends? Absolutely 'yes'!

Oh, and one last thing, the view from the terrace, pool and some of the rooms is simply breathtaking!

I definitely recommend upgrading to a seaview room, the view is breathtaking. The hotel is clean and pool is fantastic. There is a 10 min. walk to a local village, which is lovely and quaint. Alot of tourist meet up at the restuarants there. The shuttle service from the hotel is extremely helpful to go to town or other locations. I would suggest taking the tours suggested in the Hotel. By far the nicest hotel we stayed at on our Italy vacation. The place was super clean. The front desk was excellent. Thank you Marta for all the advice! The room was spacious with a separate area for a child to sleep. It's a old historic hotel. We didn't know when booking that just up the hill behind the hotel was an entire community full of fun shops and restaurants that come alive in the evening. The hotel offers a shuttle from the town of Sorrento which was a huge plus. They will take you to the train station as well. The pool was awesome and the views from our room were really special. Some really wonderful restaurants can be found within walking distance and are a must see. Try Lo Stuzzichino restaurant and a boat cruise of the Amalfi coast.

Nice convenient location, only two minutes walk to a little village with good restaurants, grocery stores and small shops. Shuttle bus to Sorrento few times daily. Average quality breakfast. We like the Jaccarino as the view of the bay of Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius is the best and the staff are helpful.
It backs on to a lovely Italian village (St Ágata) where you can eat in friendly restaurants.
The only negatives are no kettle in the room (so we take one with us)

It’s a bit hard to get to this hotel from Touristy areas but not impossible, the highlight is the pool and dining area here, it over looks the gulf of Naples and it’s BEAUTIFUL, we enjoyed the hotel shuttle to sorrento, it’s very on time. The breakfast buffet was the best we’ve had during our trip. Lots of varieties of fruits, pastries and meat.
However the room was outdated and smells bad because the sewage scent from the washroom kept coming in. Our room happened to be beside a dog that just kept barking. Good thing we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room.
Overall we enjoyed our stay considering the price point.

The atmosphere was beautiful and we even loved the free live music on the patio on Friday night! The only thing that we didn’t love was that when we were trying to checkout early to get to our flight on time, no one was at the desk for over 10 minutes.

Beautiful place, however the rooms are up for an upgrade, mainly beds mattresses, as the most uncomfortable ever and the the hairdryer!! Also, a massive shame for being charged for water in the rooms- would expect it to be a standard in 4*. Breakfast could be improved too as the same every day with not many options. Staff ok but could be more chatty. Overall ok, but overpriced for what it is. Thanks.

Totally below average. Rooms are dated, the bathroom smelled horrendous and the overall smell in the room was unpleasant.
Our room was above public toilets and was loud and added further to the smell.
Could here dogs barking all night.
The staff were short and unhelpful.
An elderly woman had a terrible fall one evening and when I went to speak with the front desk to call an ambulance I received a loud sigh and mumbled words of annoyance.

Only redeemable features are the pool and the view.

Would not recommend.

Amazing view from common terraces and some rooms. Nice pool. Dinner was good but breakfast was not. We had to cab back and forth a few times because its out of town. Usually about 50 euros each trip. They have a shuttle but not on Sundays. The hotel needs remodeling, and soon. The lady that runs the front desk is terrific as well as the wait staff. We stayed in Room 10. Great balcony, room was less than inviting. Quiet, tricky shower.

Great getaway place high above Sorrento and the crush of tourists. Spectacular views and gorgeous lobby and pool area. Adjoins a quaint small town with a number of good restaurants and a little shopping. The farm tour they offer is fabulous.
Price of being on top of the mountain is long drive to go sightseeing.
Only negatives are rooms are very basic and food at the hotel is mediocre ( we ate dinners in town 5 minute walk from hotel).

Perfect First Visit to Sorrento Area

We chose this hotel to be up in the hills rather than in the city, so the 20 minute journey to/from Sorrento was no inconvenience. We used the local SITA buses (€1.30 each way, stop Sant’Agata sui due Golfi) as they were more frequent than the hotel’s free bus.

We have no complaints about the hotel, staff or location. The rooms were authentic Italian, not sterile ultra modern; the staff friendly and very helpful and the view stunning. We were a short walk (less than 5 mins) from the village of Sant’Agata with a small number of shops, pharmacies and many restaurants/cafes/bars.

Lovely, charming old world hotel with old fashioned service too! Beautiful views across the bay to Vesuvius both from the terrace and the swimming pool.
Our room was large enough with nice views although not all room are the same and I guess you'll get what you pay for.
Staff are all attentive and friendly.
Considering this is the Sorrento area, the drinks etc from the bar are really well priced.
There's a lovely village right behind with at least a dozen restaurants, bars, hotels etc which helps make the stay here even more special.

This is a very good hotel with superb friendly staff, eager to assist at any point. We had a room with two terraces, a small one and a larger one which gave superb views over the Bay of Naples. Comfy bed (Two twin beds pinned together with only the sheets) but tricky when the sheets come loose, as they do during sleep. Beds can wander a little. No kettle or tea of coffee in the room, so we brought our own travel kettle and necessities. There is fridge within the room stocked with soft drinks only, at least some room for shop bought milk. Views from the terrace are sublime and at night, even better. Breakfast was buffet style and plenty of it. Free shuttle at certain times to and from Sorrento. You could walk there as the direct path passes next to the hotel but it is around 2 kilometres and all downhill, sometimes quite steep sloping paths. Walking back would require a decent level of fitness and plenty of water. You can have clothes laundered at a price, room service but we found the evening meal there a little disappointing. So we chose to eat locally. Don Alfonso is nearby at £130 a time but Restaurant Mimi, en route from the hotel to town, is a better bet. 30 to 40 Euros for two people with wine and water and at least two courses with the obligatory Lemoncello or Melloncello as a gift. Our room was a little difficult to get to but the staff carried our bags thankfully, saving us a two flight set of spiral stone and marble staircase. lifts elsewhere. We plan to return.

Nice hotel, 2 minutes walk from the centre of Sant Agata. Lovely staff. Pool's really nice and pool towels are provided which was unexpected. Good location for visiting Sorrento (courtesy bus runs a few times during the day), Positano and Amalfi.

Hotel in the peace of the hills away from the busy, petrol fume filled Sorrento. Although Sorrento is easily accessed by complimentary hotel bus or a walking path (40 minutes - very pleasant walk)

The hotel was very clean, served reasonably priced lunches and the staff were very attentive.

We would certainly return to this hotel.

The only downside for us was wifi was only available in the lobby

Amazing view! Rooms are disgusting!

The hotel staff is really wonderful and the views are breathtaking. Thats where the good ends. The hotel itself needs a major overhaul. The rooms are dirty. Dust in the corners. The floor was never cleaned. The bathroom is gross. The toilet seats are disgusting. The shower is a joke. A shower curtain being held up by strings that has no business being in that cramped area.

What would it cost to at least change the toilet seat and replace the shower curtain with something more suitable? It does not cost much to really clean this place up make it something better than it is. The food at breakfast is what it is. The coffee was the only place in Italy that was not good.

It really pains me to knock the place because I really like everyone there but the owners should really invest some money in this place to make it what it once was.

Great location, helpful staff and nice hotel. The pool is perfect after a hot day to come back to and cool down.

The only constructive feedback I have would be to open the pool into the evening, update the guest rooms and to change the breakfast each day a little, to provide a bit of variety.

Our room was clean and good for our needs - we didn't plan on spending much time there. We could have paid more for a room with a view. The guest areas downstairs were very nice though - plenty of space and quite opulent. I would definitely consider returning.

Nice hotel in the hills above Sorento.

Very friendly hotel overlooking the bay of Sorento. Located in the small town of St Agata so very convenient for the local restaurants & shops. A calm oasis away from the beautiful but busy Amalfi coast. Lots to see & do in the surrounding area but you really need a car to get around to the beaches & sights. Such kind, helpful staff we felt very well looked after. Very good food & reasonably priced.

Bit of a mixed bag

This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. Location is great, views over sorrento and Vesuvius are great. Rooms are clean and the pool is a decent size. There are just few issues.
The rooms were tidy, and well kept, there is no tea or coffee facilities or even a complementary bottle of water. As everywhere has tiled floors, it can be VERY noisey, sound travels down the corridors, and some room doors slam loudly. There is also a dog next door that barks LOTS. We also seemed to be given excessive amounts of shampoo rather than shower gel by the cleaners ????
During the day the terrace bar is closed and you have to go to the pool bar to order drinks, which can be a pain if your not good with steps. ( the drinks are quite expensive ones too). Food at the pool bar is only available between 12-2.30. Breakfast is like ground hog day, no variations to ham, cheese, pastries and fruit. The toaster was rubbish, you could brown toast faster on the window cil. We didn't have the hotel evening meals as the options always seemed quite poor. Wifi is only available I reception, which leads to it being full of kids and the internet being really slow at times. The hotel puts on a limited shuttle bus to sorrento, this needed to be run more often as we found it easier to use the local buses instead. Also the evening shuttle bus you have to pay 6 euros pp .
Overall great hotel and location. But needs improving in certain areas.

A pleasant hotel that needs a facelift

Hotel Jaccarino is a pleasant hotel but it does need a face lift. It is many years since I stayed in a hotel where the wifi is restricted to the lobby. I know its free but with modern wireless access points anything is possible.

We only had breakfast each day at the hotel. It was the same each day with no variation. It filled the gap but did not stimulate the taste buds.

The pool area was heaven after a hot day touring the area of Sorrento and the Amalfi coast.

The view from the front of the hotel is wow.

The staff where very attentive and knowledgeable. The hotel porter and car park attendant was brilliant. So polite and helpful.

We had a loft room, which was not good. Very small and overpriced. The shower was petite. We requested double bed and non smoking, but we got a twin smoking room. Not very romantic for the partners` birthday. The hotel should advise of the noise at the hotel made by scooters and motorbikes that use the rear alley as a shortcut. We did meet Leia from an adjacent property who was quite vocal, but we do like Oberland Bernese mountain dogs, so that was not a problem.

If this hotel was given the right investment which would not cost much, it would be a great place to stay.

This hotel is high above Sorrento but there is a little lane that you can walk down into town, although it is a bit steep in places. There is a free hotel shuttle that takes you to the centre of town. The views from the hotel are magnificent. The food in the breakfast and dinner option is ok but the waiting staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are big and plenty of fast running hot water. Around the pool is nice, the pool water was a bit cold in May. The reception staff are excellent, advising the best trips and booking them for you if you wish, but there is no hard sell. Overall we had a good stay.

Comfortable hotel with wonderful views

The hotel is high over Sorrento with lovely views of the town and Vesuvius, it is quite far out of Sorrento near a small town called St Agata and as a result is quiet and peaceful. The hotel itself is spacious and comfortable and has a lovely pool. Breakfast is a buffet of continental style meats and cheeses along with pastries and cakes, fruit, cereals yoghurt and eggs. The toaster is rather slow, as my husband said 'the bread could go stale whilst you are waiting for it to brown'. Our room was large with its own little terrace overlooking the pool, the fixtures and fittings had seen better days but were clean and worked fine, there was a safe and fridge in the room but no facilities for making hot drinks which would have been nice. It is a relaxing place to stay with friendly old fashioned service.
To get anywhere from the hotel, other than St Agata, requires a bus, taxi or a fairly strenuous walk. Being reasonably fit and preferring the exercise (and taking into account the taxis charge 45euros for the trip!) my husband, aged 70 and I, aged 60, chose to walk down into Sorrento and back up when we wanted to go to look round. From Sorrento it is easy to get the local train to see the sights of POMPEII AND Naples etc. For the Amalfi coast a local bus can be got just outside the hotel, but buy your ticket first at the tabac.
All in All the hotel is in a great place if you want a base to relax and explore. No good if you like night life or a beach.

Fabulous views

Spacious hotel with plenty of comfortable seating areas for relaxing. Room was very clean and had a fabulous view over Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Good food in the restaurant, but also just a 2 minute walk from the village, where there was a choice of places to eat.

Nice area and view, but uncomfortable rooms.

No wifi in the rooms, it only worked in one part of the lobby. TV/remote did not work. They charged me double for drinks at the bar that I did not order. The bed was very stiff. There was no \"free shuttle\" that they advertise, we had to take the local bus and even had to pay 50 Euro to take a cab at one point. But we enjoyed the view and the town nearby.

Away from the bustle of Sorrento but with a free shuttle bus into town. Sited just outside a lovely village with great restaurants and little shops. Much cheaper than staying in Sorrento itself. Pool excellent. Ask for sea view room though as some overlook slightly dingy backstreets of village.

The hotel needs a bit of an update paint snd soft furnishings! There were more older people than younger ones maybe because the hotel is quiet at night sorrento is 8km away a shuttle ride.

Dream stay!

It was a wonderful stay! I actually miss my stay there. The location was great! I got the room with a balcony and a sea view. People were lovely! It's located in a small lovely village Sant Agatha with small shops and cafes. The people in the town are simple, friendly and lovely! I'm looking to go back and stay in the same hotel next year.

Beautiful hotel let down by the little things

Stunning location and building. Shame that the walls were so thin, you can hear everything in the rooms adjacent and above. I was also ill for a couple of days and it was a shame not to have wifi in the room or a tv with any English channels, there was a sky box but we were told this didn't work in any of the rooms.
Wifi in the lobby was very slow, I would recommend investing in better wifi for future guests.
The evening meal was €40 each excluding drinks, it wasn't worth the money, you had to help yourself to dessert and it was same pastries from breakfast - I would highly suggest the very short walk into the lovely town St Agatha where there are lots of fantastic restaurants.

Lovely hotel-- out of town location needs mention

Good, shuttle to sorrento good, need to advise re getting taxi at airport -- driver no idea where to take us, yet when we left hotel at then if stay , taxi took different , easier more pleasant journey ... Need to really encourage to contact hotel re arrival times n get them to send taxi!!

Close to village of Santa Agata which we liked very much. Made the mistake of booking too early a flight which meant we had to pay for very expensive taxi rather than use public transport. Staff friendly and helpful. Checkin very quick. Didn't use excursions but 'did our own thing'. Public transport very good.
Only used pool once due to it closing very early at 6pm before we got back most days.

Super hotel for a family break

We chose this hotel because it was \"out of the way\" and away from the noise and bustle of Sorrento. However, it is just on the edge of the little village with lovely restaurants.
The hotel itself is just beautiful. There were amazing views from the balcony and the pool over the bay of Naples. It is quite traditional - beautiful furniture and mirrors. The staff are delightful - they only speak a little English but try so hard to communicate if you can't speak Italian. They were friendly and warm - especially to the children. The hotel felt very safe so we were able to let our daughters (aged 11 & 14) wander around and to the pool by themselves. Very impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel. Loved the fresh towels every day. Breakfast was good - typically continental.
We were able to get around easily as the hotel provided a shuttle bus to and from Sorrento. From the drop off point, it was easy to get to the beach, port and train station. We also took local bus as it stopped close to hotel.
A wonderful stay - highly recommend for families who want a quiet, relaxing and good quality hotel for their holiday.

Wonderful hotel in St Agata Sui due Golfi

We have just got home from a wonderful week in St Agata staying at the Hotel Iaccarino. The hotel is in a wonderful position with great facilities and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend the hotel without reservation. Anyone visiting St Agata should be sure to visit Casa da Mimí a fabulous restaurant two minutes walk from the hotel

Nice enough but all about the room you get..

This hotel is all about the view, its fantastic. My advice would be to only stay at this hotel if you have a room with a sea view because you are giving up 50% of what it has to offer if you do not. You can get the view from the hotel veranda but its not quite the same.

The hotel is comfortable, clean and homely. The staff are friendly, the pool is nice and breakfast was adequate. The fact you can't pay cash for anything is a little annoying but works efficiently enough.

Our room was definitely one of the 'lesser' at the hotel. We were around the back with no sea view or view at all come to think of it whilst over looking a busy and noisy alleyway. A light sleeper would really struggle, luckily we are not.

The hotel is isolated from Sorrento centre. The benefit to being further up the hill is its located right next to the little town of Sant Agata which has a small array of shops and restaurants. If you are looking for a hotel to base a holiday around, this is a safe choice, if you will be exploring the local area the travel to and from town becomes a pain. Your options are the hotel minibus but the schedule is quite rigid, an 8 euro 30-40 minute bus ride or 40-50 euros in a cab down into Sorrento.

This is a good hotel if you get the right room, unfortunately we did not. Its distance from Sorrento was also a negative for us but that will not be the case for others.

A decent hotel, in a good location. A good base a little off the beaten track and away from the main tourist areas. The hotel staff are nice and helpful, and the facilities are fine. The main issue is the lack of wifi. They only have free wifi in the lobby. Why? How much would it cost to install everywhere (including pool area) and maintain? Not much I think, yet it would significantly improve the hotel, it is 2016 after all. Rooms on the other hand are dated, but that does cost a lot of money to change. Cleanliness of rooms was fine though. Breakfast was okay, but virtually identical everyday, which clearly leaves room for improvement. Overall decent, but probably wouldn't stay again.

The first thing I need to flag is that this hotel is a 20 minute bus ride up the hills overlooking Sorrento and not actually in Sorrento as I thought. Perhaps this is my own lack of knowledge but I did search for hotels in Sorrento and this one came up. The is not a place for young people. It seemed more like a retirement home than a hotel. The bar was a rip off, €6 for a glass of Heineken is too much to ask. My biggest issue is that when choosing a place to stay I went for this one as it stated that it has a shuttle bus service to the airport. This is not the case. There is a shuttle bus into Sorrento that leaves you a 10 minute walk from the train station where the buses also leave from. Why the couldn't run their bus closer to the station is a total mystery and not in the least bit helpful. It doesn't make any sense to not drop guests in to the heart of Sorrento. I would not return and could not recommend this place to anyone.

Scenic gem-great pool lounge area

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Jaccarino. The room was exactly as described in other reviews, clean, outdated décor, hard bed, don't sit down on the tub (lol). Staff were friendly & helpful in arranging activities. Breakfast was fine. I also had dinner one night before going to Opera mini performance at museum, event suggested by staff enjoyed tremendously.

Old style hotel. 4 stars...??

It was a mess to get there. They said it was Nastro Verde 4 but for our GPS it was NV 84, 7 kilometers away!!. Had to stop several times on the road to ask where it was.
We had to take TWO different elevators from the front door to our room (3rd floor). The place is very silent but we could hear flushing toilets on other rooms and showers (really tiny by the way). NO WIFI anywhere. You have to stand no more than 10 feet away from the wifi to get some minimal signal. Dead signal if you move far away. Good breakfast and staff, the only two things that I could remember positive. Beds are really tuff. Tiny rooms without enough space for your clothes.

Brandy on the terrace overlooking Sorrento and the glittering lights of Naples - what more eh? ON booking I asked if it was possible for a balcony and sea view - on arrival they had managed that for us - lovely!. An old manor house with a few quirky corridors and loads of steps - pool really nice and clean. Superb breakfast buffet providing all you could ask for (although there was one Englishman who asked for poached eggs!)
Didn't eat at hotel as there were several restaurants in St Agata to try - Expedia - please remember to tell people how far this Hotel Jaccarino is out of Sorrento - the signposts say 7 km - 25 mins by bus if traffic heavy.Shuttle bus a few times a day but you have to pay extra for evenings! Very very steep path back up but managed to walk it in 45 mins. Amalfi coast closed for 5/6 days as fires in hills made it unsafe - we just took a train to Naples and did fast train to Rome (1 hr 10mins). Trevi fountain a waste of time - scaffolding and no water!!!
We had to leave very early in morning and were offered a packed breakfast.

Romantic getaway not for exploring downtown Sorrento

The hotel is beautiful and has spectacular views. They have everything you need in the room and there's a small town behind the hotel for everything else you need. The downside of the hotel is its location, no where near downtown and the hotel shuttle does not leave you in the train station but elsewhere. I would recommend the hotel if you want alone time or a romantic relaxing time with your partner. Wifi is only available in the lobby.
