Lovely hotel and balcony (we booked a partial sea view). The most wonderful staff who really supported a gluten free diet guest. The dedicated free shuttle bus was a great addition. If you can, would highly recommend the boat excursion to Capri/grotto Verdi, arranged by the hotel. The most fantastic trip!

The hotel La Vue D’Or is located in the hills above Sorrento providing a quiet respite from the bustling town below. The views are breathtaking and you often hear church bells, rosters and donkeys giving the feeling of being in the country. There is a frequent free shuttle to town but if you want to stay put the restaurant is very good with nightly specials.

I stayed for 2 weeks, and absolutely loved my stay! The staff is extremely friendly, delicious food, parking available + shuttle pick up and drop off right in front of the hotel. The view is breathtaking and the balcony I had in my room just made my stay even better. I would absolutely come again and recommend if you are looking for a safe, convenience beautiful hotel. The food was abysmal! The free breakfast was mediocre at best, the dinner was disgusting, it makes me gag remembering it. We stayed in 4 star hotels in Rome, Sorrento, and Venice on this vacation, all around the same price per night (Rome was the least expensive) and this was by far the worst hotel not only on this trip, but that we’ve had as a family. There is a bus that goes to the center once per hour, otherwise there’s no way to get down. It was never on time, and there are times when it doesn’t run at all.
The sheets are like sand paper, the furnishings are ugly, the shower had strands of hair on the wall. The toilet paper holder was 4 feet from the toilet, so you have to get up to get paper while using the restroom.
Also, there were animals braying outside our window, so forget about sleeping in!

The location is clean and the view is spectacular, however it is very inconveniently located. There is absolutely nothing within walking distance. You need to take a bus which isn’t really frequent enough and is so crowded you will likely stand on the dangerous curved 15 minute ride to the hotel, even if you arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled departure. The pool and pool area are small and crowded- it was rare we were able to get lounge chairs. The staff is very nice and the included breakfast is good.

The pool area is beautiful and the views are unreal! The restaurant had good food and the breakfast was great! However, the lobby and rooms are extremely dated and there is damage on walls that need to be fixed. As well, our room had a very stale smell.

Arrived and check-in was easy. Once we were in the room we were very pleased with the balcony as advertised as a valley view you could also easily see the sea which was a nice surprise. The room was simple for a 4*. There was no full length mirror, no iron and no where to hang towels. Also because the room card has a chip in it, it has to be that card used to activate power in the room which meant when we’re out for the day the fridge was off. The bed was surprisingly comfy and spacious however the rooms aren’t remotely sound proofed even though their advertising states they are. We could hear every conversation from the rooms next to us and above. We were lucky that our neighbours were courteous and weren’t playing music etc but you could hear every flush, shower and chair being moved in the rooms next door and it did affect our sleep.
The breakfast buffet was lovely and never a problem getting a seat and the staff always ensure the food is kept stocked up.
One of the reasons we booked this hotel was the advertisement of amble free parking. There isn’t a lot of parking (only about 16 spots) and most evenings some guests were having to park on the road. There also isn’t any car charging places which they advertise there is. This wasn’t an issue for us as we didn’t have an electric car but may be an issue if you’re relying on it.
Overall it’s an OK hotel. Would have appreciated a more accurate advert as noise especially affected our holiday.
The breakfast buffet was lovely and never a problem getting a seat and the staff always ensure the food is kept stocked up.
One of the reasons we booked this hotel was the advertisement of amble free parking. There isn’t a lot of parking (only about 16 spots) and most evenings some guests were having to park on the road. There also isn’t any car charging places which they advertise there is. This wasn’t an issue for us as we didn’t have an electric car but may be an issue if you’re relying on it.
Overall it’s an OK hotel. Would have appreciated a more accurate advert as noise especially affected our holiday.

After rushing around on a tour of Italy, we arrived at this hotel feeling tired. The stunning views, pool, and friendly staff were very welcome. There is a shuttle bus every hour to get to Sorrento city centre. We had a balcony with views over the Bay of Napoli. We were sad to leave.

We had a fantastic stay at Vue d’or. Me, my husband and our two year old were comfortable in our triple room which had a balcony overlooking Sorrento and Vesuvius, and the sea. Stunning views. We loved being a little out of town so it was quieter and the free shuttle bus (and local bus if shuttle time not convenient) worked perfectly to get in and out of town quickly. Breakfast was okay, every day was the same (egg, beans, sausages, cold meats, yoghurt, fruit and cereal) but it was absolutely fine and covered all bases/tastes. We ate at the hotel on our first night but it was quite expensive so chose to eat in Sorrento for the rest of our stay. The pool is not heated and was very cold but obviously down to time of year. Staff were friendly and happy to help, Tony in the restaurant was always smiling and obviously loves his job. Hotel was very clean. Overall I would definitely recommend and return to HVD!

For the price, it is excellent. We loved the comfortable bed, amazing view from our terrace, nice bathroom, buffet breakfast included in room price. The pool was great and so was the provided shuttle to downtown Sorrento which we utilized at least twice a day. There was a musty smell in the room and at times, sewer smell in the bathroom that we didn’t appreciate. We only had dinner at the hotel restaurant once but the food took so long to be served. Staff is very polite and helpful!

La Vue D'Or was great for the price point. The shuttle and view were the main reasons we chose this hotel. The first day the shuttle was not working, which was a disappointment as a taxi to town was about 50 Euros each way. The breakfast was good. The view was the best thing about this hotel! There were no pool towels or towels to bring to the beach, which other hotels we have stayed at provided.

A hidden gem in the hillside overlooking Sorrento surrounded by olive groves and lemon trees. Beautiful tranquil pool and the view is unbeatable. There’s an hourly free hotel bus to and from Sorrento (15 mins drive), the road is very busy so not really walkable for all, but the bus is an amazing service and honestly it was nice to be set away overlooking Sorrento. Can’t say enough good things about this small, independently owned hotel which oozes charm and character.

the hotel was wonderful. they had a great breakfast and the staff is really nice. the location is far from the city center so you have to take the bus to get downtown to the shopping district. there are a lot of sharp curves as you go down the mountain to get to the city center so beware if you get motion sickness.

We booked it for our anniversary , it is not a huge hotel, far from the Sorrento central, they have a shuttle from the hotel to town and the other way, the biggest point of this place is the view, View, VIEW, you can’t take your eyes of the balcony and hotel truss, Resturant is glass all around and you would enjoy the view while you are eating.

Problem at checkin but had a good stay
Not a great start. At check in they gave us a double room when wed booked a 2 bed suite. Theyd given our prebooked suite to someone else on our 1st night. This meant us all having to share 1 room and not getting the room wed paid for on night1. After a 10hr journey not being able to unpack as we had to move rooms next day was a pain. We were refunded the price difference for that 1st night but no goodwill gesture was offered for what was a really annoying inconvenience. Hotel is very clean, pool area is lovely (our main reason for choosing it) & views of Gulf of Naples & Vesuvius are jaw-dropping. Quite traditional decor. Breakfast was ok, we ate in restaurant 1 night and enjoyed the meal. Free shuttle bus to Sorrento town every hour, apart from 3hr period over lunch. Walking down to the town is too dangerous as roads very windy & no pavement. Free parking. Staff were friendly enough. Would categorise this as a 3 star hotel.

However, the lack of operation of the AC unit in the middle of a heatwave was a misjudgement on the part of the management; this was a very serious error and made our stay quite uncomfortable during the night.
