The hotel is well-located in Double Bay, steps to a supermarket, local bus stop to Edgecliffe Station or the Double Bay Wharf to the Central Business District. Lots of cafés and restaurants, parks and shops in the area.

The single room I had was very small and windowless. A few steps to navigate with heavy luggage.

Late evening check-in was appreciated.

Was close to the bus stop and restaurants. Safe area and easy to get to Circular Quay by bus and train. Was good for a 2 night stay. It is an older hotel, so it is not fancy. It was quiet and good for our needs. If you want luxury, stay somewhere else.

Couldn’t change programming, noise level, turn off or on.
Assume battery went flat and no capability to do anything.
Basin tap wouldn’t turn off and dripped the whole night with an annoying noise.
Very disappointing - convenient position, but overall a very disappointing stay over.

Extremely loud, building shaking demolition work permitted next to the building through the entire night until 5 am then started up again at 6.30. Police were called but advised the construction company had a permit was in place. We can’t understand how any council would allow this noise violation in a residential area. No sleep was had. Money was only partially refunded by the Savoy Hotel.

Not really a hotel and not really even a 2 star. More like a lodging for foreign students. But then it's inexpensive so that's what one gets. Dirtiness of the bathroom will always make me feel let down. Never cleaned properly. Helpful staff though and a super part of town.

The staff were helpful, called me to arrange check in as the reception was closing and I was coming in late. Room was on the top floor, I had paid extra for a balcony, it was a very hot day, the room was very hot, fortunately it was cooler outside so I was able to open it up and get the airconditioning going.

While the room was clean, it was dated with stains on the walls and carpets. Shower screen had gaffa tape around it. View from room 215 was terrible, overlooking a building site with scaffolding and cranes. There was also a clothes dryer in the public area that was still going at 10:30pm.

The hotel was so much nicer than I expected! The bed was very comfortable and warm. Every night when I returned everything was cleaned and organized so well. The staff was very helpful with answering all my questions. I also love how there was a kitchen area in the lobby that makes preparing quick breakfast, or in my case one night ramen, easy! My favorite part of my stay was the convenient location. There were several restaurants and stores right below and the public transportation is fairly easy to walk to! It’s an easy bus ride to Bondi beach and rose bay. And a quick train ride to the city. There’s also a park less than 5 minute walk from the hotel and the double bay beach wharf is about 7 mins. My only complaint was the laundry facility. It was just one room and the dryer was outside in the lobby area. Not very private for doing my laundry. But it got the job done! Overall, I would definitely choose to stay here again if I’m ever in the area.
