Was a cheap fit for purpose establishment at a budget price with privacy, close to train station and amenities. We dined at a lovely place nearby and seen the sights we came for. If you're after something hoyty toyty it's not the place for you but if you want somewhere clean at a good price with friendly staff it ideal.

Everything was clean, even if a bit run down. Even had AC which some of 4 star hotels we've been in lately didn't. Staff was excellent: friendly and helpful. Room was small (no room for a chair, just a stool) but the bed was \"awesome.\" Only had two bath towels - no hand towels or wash cloths.

The staff was amazing and I loved having a full kitchen to cook in too. I love to walk and the location was perfect. Kings cross is a 1minute away if you need to catch the train and the area is filled with shops, food and so close to the Botanical gardens, museums, ferries and the main attractions! I’m returning there in a few days before I head out of Sydney to Melbourne! 5❤️

I never leave reviews, but this property needs one to warn others. I booked a double room with en-suite bathroom. Upon arrival around 8:00 a.m, we asked to drop off our luggage while waiting to check-in and were told we could get another room immediately. The only difference, we were told, was a single bunk above the double bed. Exhausted from a flight from London and needing a shower, we agreed.

The room was nothing like what I had seen on Wotif. It was small, ugly, and faced a wall. The bathroom was tiny, with no hand soap and no hooks for towels. The bedsheets and pillowcases were barely acceptable. I’ve travelled extensively, including backpacker hostels, and this was the worst I’ve seen.

Noise was unbearable. You could hear everyone around you, from loud voices to music, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Every time someone walked past, the bed moved and made a metallic sound.

After check-out, I understood why. The room we were given, room 5, IS NOT ADVERTISED ON WOTIF. Out of 61(polished) photos, it is not shown. This is FALSE advertising!!!

The room was riddled with bugs, especially in the bathroom, including a 5cm long cockroach I encountered one night.

Despite calling itself a hotel, it provides NO service. The room was never serviced, towels were not replaced, and toilet paper was not replenished. We had to ask, and were given one roll.

If you don’t mind bugs, noise, begging for basic supplies, and gambling on which room you’ll get, this property is for you

It wasn't a motel it was a tiny room in a hostel I had insurance and was not able to cancel even though it was before the 3 pm cut of any a tried furiously to cancel the next night and was denied after multiple extremely long phone calls I was moved around making it extremely difficult to try nd cancel the third night I have beeñ using wotif for years and have spent thousands of dollars I will never ever use this site or recommend to anyone ever again

Everything is close together with this property, which makes it really easy to find entertainment or food. :)
In the summer it might be a bit of a challenge as some of the rooms don't have air conditioning or fans, but otherwise they're very cosy and Adrian will definitely look after you. :D

Look, it is only a 1 star hotel and so expectations need to remember that. The pub patrons next door like to sing so ear-plugs are essential. For my purpose, a room to sleep in and no more, it was great. Clean, comfortable bed and close to food. Bathroom clean, hang everything on the high hooks, everywhere else gets wet including the door. If I need to stay in central Sydney again I'll use the Highfield again.

Old hotel with some charm and good service when the owner is in attendance. Was given a free upgrade which was greatly appreciated... but unfortunately the property has roaches. Saw one in each of the rooms I stayed in. If the roaches are cleared up, I would stay again.

Good location in buzzing part of Sydney - walking distance from both the Allianz stadium and the bridge/opera house area. Expensive for size of room but you’re paying for it being Sydney. Very small room - no space even for a seat and only one pillow for 2 people staying. Parking A$25 extra - but that’s for a full 24 hours. Could see Syndney Harbour Bridge from the car park (opposite the hotel). Only view from our room was of a brick wall. No (working) lift.

I stayed in the hotel for one night as it was convenient for getting to the airport. The hotel is in a busy area and there are lots of shops nearby. I had to check in late and the staff were very helpful in giving me the access codes. There were a couple of issues that spoiled the stay: 1) The room had a fridge that emitted the most horrible noise every few minutes. I don't think any normal functioning fridge would make that sound, 2) I could hear other guests talking in the corridor in the middle of the night. It was a bit inconsiderate and I didn't get good sleep.

I loved this property. The room was small, but great value for money in this location. We were only staying 1 night and just wanted a base. Easy walking to George Street and Circular Quay. Parking available close by. Two great cafes super close for breakfast.

One for the explorers.

It is an older establishment however it was a clean and functional room. The ensuite was small but worked effectively. If you are like me who spends 2-3 waking hours in a room, I would rather save money for food and drink. My only criticism is that the sound proofing is not very good particularly from above. There are stairs involved as well.

Had a great time at highfield! It was a super convenient location so close to central and the train stations, and it was incredible affordable for the private room that we stayed in. The staff is super nice and very accomodating to late check ins and room attending requests. It was as quiet as you can expect for a inner city room, but was super clean and comfortable. Definitely not the biggest space and the lack of an elevator could be annoying at the end of a long day but I would absolutely stay here again!

Not a “luxury” hotel but certainly value for money.
Staff were excellent- welcoming and helpful.
Our ensuite room was small but adequate. Being able to open the windows was a real bonus

The room was very small and freshly painted. So fresh they forgot to remove the masking tape from the smoke detector. So it was definitely clean. The single blanket and flat pillows made for an uncomfortable sleep. There wasn’t even enough space for a bedside table. The bathroom was a small ensuite and I had to put a towel in a spot to prevent water from soaking the carpet outside the door. So overall it was okay, but that’s about it. At least it was clean!

Last minute booking at night and property owner made sure we got checked in and in our room. Staff were friendly and were glad to give recommendations on sights see in the area. Street parking was limited but there is a parking garage a walk away that can be used for longer parking

Booked as budget accom. Location, Sydney---brilliant, bang-for-the-buck, rate as pretty darn good. However-- the rule applies, 'get what you pay for. Room with ensuite, 'compact' , window view, a wall [ but windows did open for fresh air] Bed, comfortable, linen, pristine, personally, I would use again, ask for room with a view-- if available.

Hotel is very accessible to Kings Cross station just 3mins walk. The room I got is good and clean especially the bed. I had a good sleep. There’s cafes and bars outside which is good. The only thing if you have a huge luggage is that it does not have lift so please prepare your muscles. :D Good thing I saw a review about that and I was kinda prepared. Overall experience was good.

I'd give it 5 stars except for the thin walls and no staff on duty to enforce a quiet time after midnite. Manager went above and beyond to give us a choice of rooms, and to provide an adapter for our American electronics. It would have been helpful to let us know if we could have a room with no one next door.

Upon check in the lady never smiled once, just asked us our name, gave us a form to complete & asked for I/D. Gave us room key, that was it. Didn't realise we had to hike our heavy bags up 2 floors on our own. Room was unbelievably tiny for the $$$ room rate for one night. At least it was clean & bed was comfortable. Lots of noise from other rooms & the alley below, despite keeping window closed.

Property was very basic, the shared toilets were horrible. Tiny little cubical I’m sure not to Australian standards. I was on the 3rd floor and with no lift access I asked the staff to assist me with my bag as I have a back injury and was advised ‘that’s not a service we offer’. Absolutely NOT worth the money I paid. Bed and pillow were horribly uncomfortable. No air condition and the room was like a hit box

No lock on the main entrance - so technically anyone could enter the hotel. (Reception was not always there.)
