I have now stayed three times at this hotel. It is excellent value for money in a central part of Sydney. I will keep going back. But the unexpected $4.50 for a bottle of water on departure seems like a scam and should be discontinued. It left an unpleasant sensation after a very good stay of five days.

Had a comfortable stay at Best Western Stellar. Room had adequate space, bed was very comfortable. Kitchenette very handy, but only three sets of cutlery/crockery. Walking distance to public transport and Sydney CBD. We stayed for a week, would be happy to book again if requiring an inner city stay.

Lot to be desired.

Pillows are awful, the king bed is two beds pushed together that are horrible to sleep on. Room is insanely dusty and the fact you pay for laundry after paying a massive amount of money is diabolical. Also the casting system they use for tvs is rubbish. Just have normal tvs since it won’t sync iPhone to cast apps. Oh and see through two ply is basically one ply don’t be cheap.

We booked a kitchenette but when we arrived there was only a sandwich maker. No toaster, nothing to cook on etc. The room was very dated but had a refrigerator like any other hotel room. The building is older, I understand, but not what we expected at all. Very noisy during the day and all night, as there was an emergency response location not far from the hotel. Also, when the bars would close anytime between 1 and 3 a.m. you would hear people yelling and screaming!
The staff were very kind and helpful.
The cafe on the main floor was open early only until midday.
Location not bad, we walked approx. 10 minutes to get to the hop on hop off bus location. No tours would pick us up from this hotel, so we walked to other hotels where they would pick up, approx. 15 - 20 minutes.

Hi there, We stayed for Mardi Gra great location. Had a corner room on the 1st floor great view. Could not fault it. One thing I would recommend even though they had a kitchenette it was limited. I felt we needed plunger for Coffee, a toaster and a single stove top and pan to fry bacon or eggs. The reason is you had to eat out for all meals.The Reception staff were amazing very helpful and great advice.

Small hotel in convenient location with satisfactory rooms at a reasonable price. Kitchenette is a plus. Neighbouring streets can be littered and the traffic noise can be intrusive. Overall a fairly good deal for Sydney.

We asked for early access to one of our rooms when we booked and on arrival at 12.30 receptionist said it couldn’t be arranged, as if no rooms had been cleaned by 12.30. Most inconvenient, had to change in a toilet. Pity as the room was good but wouldn’t stay again.

Don't judge a hotel by what it looks like from the outside. Room with 2 queens and kitchenette. Also overnight parking nearby for $30 per day is pretty good (limited).
Staff friendly and professional and the cleaners were lovely.
I will definitely come back.
Only one safey issue is that the windows can be fully opened. So take care if you have kids.

The staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was lovely and the food in the cafe for breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh orange juice.
The only improvement I would suggest is having a ramp at the entrance for people who have trouble with stairs. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sydney.

The location of the property was amazing. Easy to get to all of the major attractions. Lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel is old and run down. Needs updating. Rooms are dark and gloomy. Would not recommend unless you booking the 2 or 3 bedroom suite.

The room was lovely, quiet, and the beds comfortable. The in-room facilities were great (we had a kitchenette in our room).
Very clean. Pleasant decor.
Staff were polite, pleasant, and very helpful.

Cons:
Not accessible friendly. We had a pram and large suitcase and found it challenging to get where we needed to. There are several steps inside the front entrance that can’t be avoided - there is no wheelchair access. Staff were very helpful with helping us lift the pram in.
Doorway to room angled to create a narrow entry. It was really difficult to get the pram in and out.

One of my favourite hotels in Sydney - a gem

Third time I have stayed here, third time I have been glad I did. A great little hotel with good sized rooms and very clean. And the rooms are quiet and allow for a peaceful stay. Friendly staff who make it an easy stay every. I stayed at another hotel in the city recently and it was awful. It made me wish I had just stayed at the Hotel Stellar instead,

It is an old building and running down although it has been renovated some parts need to be improved such as door closer noisy, bath room door was hard to open for kids and older people and finally the noise from someone walking upper level and it makes you nightmares!

Our room was very spacious and clean with a view toward Hyde Park. The location was fantastic, walking distance to parks and so many great restaurants, cafes and shops. The staff were friendly and helpful. The one downside is parking - we had a hire car and so I paid for a place in the car park which turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. It is tiny, fits about 6 cars and takes a lot of skill and patience to get cars in and out and would be easier with a small car. Better to stay here if you don’t have a car I think.

Did not meet expectations!

Our room had a kitchenette but no table and chairs! The front desk provided us with a small bistro table and two stools. The room was serviced every day. We used the laundry facility at a cost. Doors closing from adjacent rooms was noisy especially in the middle of the night. The photo in Hotel.com did not represent the type of room we had. At almost $400 a night, it did not meet our expectations.

The location is good not far from trains etc, property nicely presented. Travelled from interstate and arrived early and there wasn’t much concern for trying to accommodate that at all. Also ran out of hot water after 1 shower. And a staff member entered our room without knocking.

Room was large and very comfortable, I especially liked the kitchenette, it made breakfast very convenient. My husband enjoyed the shower, plenty of hot water and the size was perfect, as was the size of the overall bathroom. We both like the convenience of location it was within an easy walk of the gardens, museums and shopping.

Well the only thing i didnt like was that i had a bunch of guys outside my window yelling and screaming from 2am sunday morning and i didnt get back to sleep and i was running the city2surf that morning.
I wasnt very appreciative of that interruption
