Spacious, clean and well equipped one bedroom apartment which was perfect for my wife and I and our little baby. It was a little noisy in the living area from the road traffic, but it was fine from the bedroom. We also loved the big pool and gym. Overall it’s a perfectly good, functional hotel for a short stay. Great location too near Central and the heart of the CBD

Arrived at the hotel after a red eye flight from Perth at 7am with my young son. We checked in early and asked if we could receive our room key at some time during the day before the scheduled 2pm. The girl on the front desk said she would contact me if a room became available. We called twice during the day and were told the same thing. We went back to the hotel around 1:30, sat in the lobby, and watched as people who were just arriving were given keys to their room.

Yes, I understand check in is 2pm. But there used to be such a thing as customer service, hotels and staff used to try and help people and let them go up their rooms a bit early. They could see my young son was exhausted and not feeling very well but they chose not to help us. they could've given our room some slight priority, I know because I have friends in the hotel industry and that's what they do routinely. We were finally given the keys to our room at 1:55.

The room was adequate but rather shabby.Walls need a fresh coat of paint and tiles in the bathroom were cracked.

Great location and very spacious rooms. The property itself is aged and could do with some tidying up and renovating. The foyer area had a pretty strong smell (Indian spices) as you walked on off the street but that didn't spread to the other floors.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Property is dated, however we opted for an upgrade and were given a spacious room with more facilities. The noise from the vents in our room from neighbours made it difficult to sleep, however we enjoyed our stay. The proximity to everything was incredible and ease of getting around made it the perfect spot.

Not a bad spot, if you are in a pinch.

It was a Thursday night and the hotel seemed to be a hotspot for the younger ones, Uni Student aged. They were pretty noisy, and everywhere.

I won’t even start that my booking was booked for a night earlier and trying to have it updated. The hotel was not cooperating and only wanted more $ to change date after 15 mins of booking.
Check in they throw you a piece of paper with a map of the car park.. how about just say it is not clearly marked and entrance is about 20-30m up from reception.

Finally checked in and try to turn the heating on. It’s winter in Sydney. After a while no change in temp rang reception and they said they will turn it up.. so you can’t control within the room. No change rang again maintenance came in. Looked at and said will kick in shortly.
Again no change room is freezing - ring reception they offered more blankets and a portable heater. Was told no other rooms available to move.

After about 30 mins another room became available so moved. By then we had dinner and show to go to so only slept in the room..

Plenty of other hotel options around. Look at these..

I just needed a base for one night near the city and central station. A short walk to the places I needed, and the light rail made it close to the Lyric Theatre too. A lounge to use watching TV is always good. They were happy to keep my luggage after checking out. Helpful and obliging

Unfortunately, it is an aging property that needs some major upgrades. The rooms need a good paint job, the bathrooms need an upgrade and the parking is atrocious. The location is first rate, so the condition of the property should match the location. Overall, an average stay so until there is a significant upgrade, I will not be recommending this property.

Need to fix locks on doors to make guests feel more secure. Upgrade locks so don’t need to use an actual key. Need more kitchen supplies to actually cook and some paper towel, dish soap would have been nice and extra soap for kitchen

Great Option for Stay Near Surry Hills

I didn’t know what to expect, so I was pleasantly surprised at the facility and the amenities of the Oaks. I chose this location based on the proximity to transportation and shopping options. The are is extremely walkable so that added to the enjoyment.

Pros:
- Well equipped unit; won’t need anything but the food ad drinks.
- Pool and Hot Tub (Bring towel from room)
- Washer and Dryer in unit (w/complementary soap)
- front desk has plug adapters upon request
- Nice Air conditioning for the hot days
- Iron for clothes
- my unit had a 2 balconies for fresh air and views

Cons:
- nothing significant to mention, just a little dated in some places.

Overall, great place for solo, couples or families. Easy access to Chinatown and Paddy’s Market. Short walk to world market. 20 min to rocks or airport by train or bus. Would definitely recommend this for a short stay in Sydney and for the price you can’t really beat it.

Very convenient location. Easy walk to tram stop at Chinatown. Great spot for accessing Central Station trains and buses. This is an older complex but unit was clean and tidy. We had a 1 bedroom unit on the 20th floor with laundry and balcony. Very comfortable and good to have an outlook rather than staring into another building. Air conditioning was inconsistent. At times it was really cold and then through the night it was too warm. Comfortable bed. Clean linen.

3 night stay in Sydney for New Years Test

For an oaks disappointing, but the place is still nice.

Room ambience feels a bit dated and stuffy, although it’s fine and has everything.

Had a leaky central cooling unit, which meant i was surprised with a wet puddle on the tiles when i woke up.

Left a day early due to cricket finishing early, but place itself is fine, wouldn’t stay here again unless financially prudent to do so, but location is great and as long as air con isn’t required, it does the job

Worst hotel staff I have ever met. Staff Jina chased my elderly parents to not stay in the lobby and not sit and sleep on the sofa after a long overnight flight. We reached around 9-10am in the morning and she did not make any effort to allow us to check in early or make us more comfortable after the long 8 hours flight. She also refused to help my parents to go to the toilet a they do not really speak English( my dad wrote a WC on the paper but she just pretended that she did not understand.

2nd time to stay. One lift out of order last time due to construction which was ok. This tome Lift still out indefinitely. Being a residential block the lift can take quite a while to come. 15 mins. Not like altering but a but annoying when carry bags or just popping to reception. Our Air con was ridiculously loud in room and Wi Fi not connecting. Went to reception and very helpful. Changed rooms straight away. Fridge in new room wouldn't close because the ice in freezer was amazing and stopping door closing. Again, fixed by lovely guy who chipped away enough ice to close door. Poor housekeeping there, should be check after every guest. Great location and close to food and shops and activities and transport. Parked in uncover garage. Interesting location to find and door also wasn't working. But all fixable problems. Would stay again once 3 lifts in use.

Aging facility. The lift being out of action meant it was a long wait to get the one elevator (servicing about 20 floors) to enter or exit the hotel. We got no information about hotel facilities despite a 4 night stay in a 2 bedroom apartment. I only found out there may be a pool and or gym from reviewing the photos before writing this review. Lovato was ok though, near a train and World Square

The receptionist was lovely and courteous. Just a couple of minor issues, \"it was difficult to understand him due to he's accent and softly spoken voice. There was some confusion even after requests to repeat.
He was very well dressed but the other two staff were untidy. Checkout staff was very well spoken and very well dressed.
There's a notice about leaving the place clean but the cups on arrival were dirty with coffee/tea rings.
Overall a good stay, rooms are spacious, central location. Good value for money.
