The capsules stank on the inside, light shines into your capsule still around the seal and if you’re like me and in the top, the bottom capsules light shone up around the gaps and edges of the inside of mine, the floors were bad, facilities for showers are old and need refreshing, and I wasn’t sent my late check in info. The receptionist was friendly and helpful both times, but everything else about this is just a gimmick.

Let's be clear: this just is a hostel where the dorms have stacks of 'capsules' (plastic boxes) instead of bunkbeds. Never again!

Capsules
- No bed base so you're sleeping on a thin mattress on a hard floor
- Thin walls let in lots of light and sound
- Ventilation fan is noisy and ineffective. I ended up leaving my door half open all night
- I'm 5'9\" and with my head against one wall I could touch the other end with my toes.
- Minimal storage. Other than the safe there was only one small shelf, which fit a water bottle, a phone and a pair of glasses
- \"Latest technology\" = two power points, two USB ports and a bunch of lights. (One was broken.)
- *Terrible* pillow!
- Rooms are cluttered because the lockers barely fit a carry-on and you have to pay extra for the 'oversize' lockers outside the room (assuming any are available)

\"Kitchen\"
- An alcove with a bench, stovetop, sink and some small appliances
- No washing-up liquid, tea-towels or paper towels
- One blunt knife and limited utensils or crockery
- Dining space = the far side of the bench and a couple of stools under a wall shelf

Bathrooms
- Men's & women's are on alternate floors
- No vanities or mirrors, just a tiny sink in each stall
- Everything was cracked, sagging or uneven
- Plenty of mold

Building: entire place felt like a rushed renovation job. Floors were noticeably uneven, lift seemed built from packing crates and the entry hall smelt faintly of mold.

Lift was out of order my capsule was broken and I was given no top sheet. Bed was itchy and I am concerned there may be bed bugs present, and pillow was absolutely disgusting. Bed was pretty firm, but that is not the worst thing in the world.

Staff were friendly but limited staffed hours meant I couldn't ask anyone for help when I realized the issues were happening.

Overall I likely would recommend just going to a reputable hostel rather than this place, the capsule schtick isn't really worth the mediocre amenities and dodgy beds.

My capcell room itself was what I expected. Something I did not expect was some parts were broken. The pictures in the website looked clean and new but it was actually not.

A shower room was terrible - not clean at all and water pressure is very weak. (I don't know female one)

There was a common kitchen but a fridge there stinked badly and was so messy.

The room in which my capcell was located was not tidy at all.
I really do not know what kind of guests had been staying there but some of them seemed to \"live\" there for a long period time.

I highly DO NOT RECOMMENDED to use this place unless other accommodations around the city are VERY VERY expensive.

Pretty average and nothing to rave about, the tv inside the capsule didn’t work and neither did the mini safe so couldn’t store any valuables. The shower and toilets had black mould growing on the silicon around the hand basins. Very small stalls to the point when I sat down my knees were touching the door and my feet were sticking out under the door.
Reception wasn’t very knowledgeable about Sydney as I asked how to get to the Olympic park, Showgrounds and she had no idea what I was taking about let alone how to get there.
Not impressed and will not be going back again.

I'm giving it two stars, One for the concept of a private, quiet and inexpensive stay at a central location, and one star for the helpful, diligent but overworked staff. Everything else was TERRIBLE!!!
The toilets and showers were filthy, cramped and insufficient. The plumbing was terrible and the tapware was rusty, loose and dirty. The floors and walls were moldy. The sound insulation between the capsules was missing which means you could not get a good night's sleep. The mattress was too thin.

A Filthy Experience

I stayed in the Space Q for 2 nights, knowing full well that for the price it was not going to be a luxury experience. What I didn't expect though was the filthy state that the toilets and showers were in. All 3 toilets were leaking, not cleaned, paper missing etc. The showers were very dirty as well, with leftover bars of soap and underwear strewn everywhere on the floor! There was no soap in the dispenser in the shower I used. Good thing I took my own bar of soap.

The capsules have an incredibly thin mattress. I did not expect a lot, however I struggled to sleep given the mattress was so uncomfortable, as was the tiny pillow. There is no top sheet on the mattress, only a base sheet, and there are not blankets. It was 30 degrees in Sydney and once it cooled down, it was actually cold during the night. There is a fan in the capsule, but no heating. I resorted to sleeping in my clothes the second night as I was so cold. Never again.

I did not have many choices in the last-minute booking during the Sydney marathon period. This property has nothing other than the location. The facility is in worse condition, the bed sheet and the blanket are dirty and full of long hair, even though they changed another one, and I questioned whether they had not been washed. Be honest, the location is the best, it's close to the central station and a walkable area, there are a lot of restaurants surrounding. The staff were nice.

Friendly staff arranged late check-in on the day which I appreciated. Cool concept but inside the pods are a bit worse for wear, mine had dirt in the all corners & the stickers/posters were peeling off, also smelled a bit damp. Floor of the room was dirty. Bedding was clean but hard floor of the pod was quite uncomfortable to sleep on. Really weird cleaning schedule too - the lady came in around 10-11pm & obviously made noise so that was quite disruptive to sleep. Overall just needs better upkeep & maybe some refurbishment but it’s a good alternative to a hostel.

I've stayed here multiple times and will continue to stay here when im solo in sydney. Its the budget of a hostel with the safety of a private room. If youre there too early they let you hang out in the shared kitchen/lounge area until check in. This is the only place i consider staying when im alone in sydney, and i recommend it to everyone.

Wouldn’t book with them. They say to email them if you’re late arriving and they’ll email you what you need on arrival.
I received nothing and was stranded in Sydney City Centre with no where to sleep and they claimed they were there waiting for me but I did not receive any instructions whatsoever.

The place is very dirty, I only stayed one night and I couldn’t bring myself to even shower at this place. Just taking my shoes off and walking into my pod my feet were disgusting. When the cleaner was out the next morning he was just giving the rooms a very light sweep and there were no signs of mops!

The Pod itself is quite spacious for one person, the foam mattress is quite thin so not the comfiest. There’s nowhere private to get dressed etc so bare that in mind if you’re a bit more modest than most.

More of a homeless shelter than a hostel. The place is filthy from top to bottom. Large lounge area but again tired and dirty. The pods are dated and half of the controls no longer work. They get sweltering hot with only a aeroplane style air valve which makes a noise. Went to check in, nobody there for 20mins. Nobody at check out either (8am in the morning). Cleaner just opened my pod without warning. I’d only recommend staying here for one night in an emergency. The only positive is the location on George Street. I also noticed that many of the 5 star reviews is the reviewers first ever review…

Not worth it. Bathrooms are unclean, showers don’t lock. Mattress is about 2cm of foam so you’re practically sleeping on the floor.
Hotels.com we’re incredibly helpful with lodging a complaint but the property itself did not entertain the process.

More like a dorm than a hotel, the mattress was not comfortable at all. At times the capsule got hot as the air-conditioning didnt seem to flow through into the rooms properly. Also quite loud as people came in and out and took random phone calls in their pods at all hours of the night. The mens room only had 2 of 3 toilets working and the shower heads need attention. The pod itself is dated and not entirely functioning in all its controls. 10 out of 10 for location, and value for money if you get a cheap rate.

I had to use my t-shirt as a towel. Checkin is only open between 10.30am and 6pm and I found during these hours that towels need to be hired from reception.
There was no top sheet on the bed, just a dirty blanket, so I had to roll myself in the bottom sheet. The bed didn't have a proper mattress and the pillow was small and hard.
I have never seen showers so small and only a small tinted mirror in the bathroom, so the dirt isn't as obvious maybe. Most of the powerpoints were broken. Piles of things everywhere and the whole place had a strange smell. Plus rude staff.

First time using this type of accommodation. Staff admitted that the installation was quite old, so some features like temperature control weren't working, though it wasn't really an issue. By no means soundproof, to put it politely. Well managed, but toilet cubicles were not up to scratch. One seemed permanently shut, and one you had to pee from the side not the front of the bowl.
Management was good and helpful.
Last Minute check-in instructions were unhelpful and quite out of date.

Pros: the staff were super helpful when my pod/locker had issues. Price and location are great. Felt safe while there.
Cons. Some of the toilets are so small you need to sit side ways on the toilet. But others are much better. When I was there one of the three showers on my floor didn’t produce anymore than a dribble

The area is close to everything like Haymarket, Chinatown, Darling Harbour etc. Didn't like the chemical smell due to lack of ventilation.
If there's a certain time at night when people are sleeping. Would appreciate some rules and consequences for people who like to make phone calls in the capsule rooms or walk quietly back into their rooms since it's not sound proof for some respect.

I booked for 3 nights I stayed 1 spoke to manager who put all the blame back on to me… and was very rude… no refund no apology no nothing.. would not recommend this place to anyone

The location was prime as it was very close to Market City and had some great food options. It was also close to a light rail station and not far from Central so it was easy to jump on the coach back home. I didn't like how small the cubicles were in the bathrooms and just the general smell of the place? It wasn't pleasant. Thankfully my capsule was clean but lockers were not nearly big enough for my bag and seemed like a lot of people had the same issue as there were bags everywhere. In terms of placement in the city and all the things around it, very accessible, highly recommend. In terms of the facilities there, it's a meh.

The capsules are amazing and offer a sense of personal space and have aircon. You have a locker as well to keep your belongings. Staff was very helpful especially the young lady- uber friendly.

Bedding is provided but might need an extra blanket when it’s cold. Location is sublime as it is close to China Market - walking distance of trams, Central station and Darling Harbour.

Stayed here after checked out Hilton Sydney. No direct comparison, but good enough for solo and short stay.
Capsule door and rocker can be locked with card and CCTV here and there for safety.
Wish space for eat/drink and extra attention to functioning and cleaness of shower room and toilet. Will stay again here.

A hole on steroids !

Don’t stay there on da floor with thin old smelly mattress that is guaranteed to break your neck and back in da morning,. Bathroom is disgusting and shower is for animals and toilet can’t fit inside.

My recommendation is stay on a hard bench @ Central Station, or park. At least you keep your money and wake up feeling great !!

The concept of a space capsule was interesting, and everything worked well and was very clean inside the capsule. Definitely not for you if you are claustrophobic!
The womens bathrooms left a lot to be desired and lacked privacy and security. First the access to the bathroom facilities was located next to the communal kitchen and lounge area and there was no security / card required to access the outer door. The showers were tiny and the only place to put your things was in a small sink. Also the shower cubicle door was just frosted glass and others wanting to use the toilet at the end had to walk past the showers to get to toilet. And the toilet didnt flush properly.

Affordable nightly rates, mostly clean capsules.

Only downside was that the capsule was beginning to show signs of age. Microwave oven in the kitchen also broke on the third night of the stay.

Asides from that, staff were friendly and were going above and beyond to ensure a tidy hotel.

It was okay, not the best hostel I've been to. Thought it was odd you had to pay for luggage storage. The cleaner said you can leave your big luggage behind the desk, there was no one there. When I checked in they said you can leave you big suitcase in the room because it locks. Maybe I was in the one room that didn't lock. Facilities were okay.

The property is well located on George street, a main shopping hub for dining, bars, and clothing outlets. Property itself is well kept by service staff. Plenty of thought for the long or short term stay. Includes, communal kitchen, fridges, cooker, microwave, hob, etc. communal space for free pool table and area for mix with other travellers socially. Also a laundry facility. They don't provide free towels these are at a cost of $3. The capsules are okay for a night's rest, but bare in mind they are off plastic construction, so opening and closing the capsule can appear to be loud. Lockers are available to store luggage etc.

Front desk manager was kind but onviously overloaded with responsibilites. I asked about shower soap and dispenser but nothing was done about it. Showers had too much black mold to feel clean. Rooms and toilets were swept and mopped daily but so many people staying and untidy, it could have been cleaned 3x daily. No fault of the hostel. Capsule was fine but could use a thicker mattress. Kitchen area was fine although i did not cook. For 3 nights the location made it tolerable.

Overall not terrible but I wouldn’t go back. The air conditioning was absolutely terrible. They use a ventilation system that pulls air near where a small air conditioner is placed but it’s not sufficient for Australia summer. The capsule was cute but once you get over the initial excitement of it being fun to look at you realize it’s just a hostel. Noise travels through the capsules so more white noise with a better ac would be so helpful. Staff were professional and friendly. If you’re looking to save I’d recommend a hostel over the capsule. However if it’s like a quick few hours before a flight or missed your train home it’s not terrible. Also bring 3 dollars for your towel or just bring your own.

It was affordable option to sleep. Idea is good but, it can be noisy due to how capsules are placed and when someone moves around, sound carries. Otherwise it wasn't terrible.

Clean and affordable stay

Better than the other capsule hotel I stayed at in Sydney. So much better than staying at a hostel. The cube was clean and very quiet which helps a lot.

Buyer beware. The room photos and description indicate there is a TV in each pod however there is in fact only one TV at the property and it is located in the common room. Pods have no A/C therefore you'll need to ask staff to turn on A/C in your room and leave pod door open. It's essentially hostel accommodation but with a little more privacy in your bunk/pod. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to central station and Chinatown as well as downtown Sydney.
