The swimming pool is warm enough for us to swim in winter.. the location is close to central station with lots of eateries around the area.. the breakfast buffet was great plenty of selection with healthy choices.. the room is clean..overall we enjoyed our stay and definitely will come back..

Perfect location, being right near Central station, and 3 train stations away from both, the airport, and Sydney's main attractions (Sydney Harbour/Sydney Opera House).
Hotel itself is clean and comfy.
Self check in and out makes things super efficient.
You can control the room's Temperature and lighting.
Buffet breakfast is fantastic.
(If you have sensory issues, or would prefer a quiet breakfast, I would advise to go between 6.30am - 7.30am).
Otherwise, it's a sensory nightmare.

All of the staff from different areas were amazing so helpful with suggestions of attractions and transport etc.

The breakfast buffet was 10/10.

Would definitely stay again and 100% recommend to family and friends.

Close to trains and buses and an easy stroll to the heart of Sydney great location.

The room was quite small.
The air conn had limited control.
No fresh air window, didn't like the carpet room due to allergy issues.
Can't spend a lot of time in a closed carpeted environment.
The Lifts waiting time was a lot. Not all lifts were working, had to wait 10 min for a lift on my checkout time.

The hotel is excessively darkly lit, feels very American. Rooms and restaurants all have very low light. Breakfast was good however there are blinds that drop down preventing access to the food area at exactly 10:30 am on weekends, and at 10:00 am on week days, the latter we didn't realize until we were shut out mid-breakfast on a monday (morning two of our stay so was a surprise and staff were not flexible). Location is good, as is the gym and pool area. But I would look elsewhere next time. The electronic check in and check out felt impersonal. Finally, check in is at 3 pm and we arrived at 2 pm. They wanted to charge extra to check in at 2 pm so we checked 6 bags and went elsewhere. I like to know these things in advance. If you do too, beware. Late check out also possible for $20 per hour after 10 am. It's fine, but not excellent.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout my visit, which made the experience even better.
The breakfast was very good with a nice variety of options, and everything was fresh and tasty. The location is also excellent, making it easy to get around and access nearby places.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We had a double room with two beds - and two bedside tables (hooray!). Each bedside table had two good-sized shelves. On each table was an adjustable, separately-switched bedside lamp (hooray!) In the bathroom, there was a light under the mirror - good for leaving on all night (switched from outside the bathroom). The shower had no door - just a half-sized panel separating it from the main bathroom - so water easily escaped from the shower and, in our room, would flow across the bottom of the bathroom door unless checked with towel (bathmat was already half wet from escaping spray).

Wasn’t a fan of the self service check in - whats happened to face to face communication- it says to use it if your in a rush- however seemed to be the only option as we were directed to it- don’t mind using it for checking out but would be nice to feel like your at a hotel. Staff weren’t very friendly

There are hotels that welcome you with open arms, and there are those that greet you with a shrug and a hard hat. My overnight stay at the Mercure Sydney fell—quite spectacularly—into the latter.

Any optimism evaporates upon entering a foyer that resembles a mid-demolition worksite. Not a design choice so much as a declaration of indifference.

The room (312) was… intimate. Not boutique-intimate—cupboard-intimate. Everything within arm’s reach, including one’s own existential doubt. The bathroom’s vanity is positioned so close to the toilet that one’s knees are introduced to it immediately and without consent.

Sleep, the one essential service, failed. No spare blanket, ineffective air conditioning—an experiment in mild suffering I did not agree to.

Placed on the lowest floor beside a busy road, one feels less like a guest and more like a logistical afterthought.

Would I return? Only for research into construction aesthetics and the limits of human knee placement.

The buffet breakfast was generous, fresh and delicious!

Si oui, on livre à votre chambre dans les minutes suivantes. Bon déjeuner buffet avec des changements de mets quotidiens. Côté localisation, l’hôtel est situé à distance de marche du Quartier chinois et de Darling Harbour. Pour le reste, la gare et le bus sont à vos pieds!

Had a great stay here. Rooms immaculately clean ,well resourced,comfortable beds and nice and quiet despite its very central location. All staff we encountered were fantastic ,really attentive and going the extra mile to make the stay comfortable.
The breakfasts were fantastic ,so many options and yummy. Particularly appreciated the gluten free options.
So well located ,right next to central station and minutes away from the light rail. Would definately stay again

Entry and Reception under renovation.
No access down one flight of stairs as Lift was out of order as well.
Superior King room with City Views was their best and at their highest price ... 3-Star only !

Tiles mouldy, skirting boards aboung with fluff and dust. Bed-side table still carrying spill imprint from previius guests.
Shower rail came adrift without any pressure.
All signs of poor cleaning and maintenance regime.
Breakfast offerings were of a high standard, yet guests were asked to pay extra if \"brewed coffee\" was sought.
Close to Central Station, yet major construction works made walking difficult.
Stayed there 20 years+ earlier, much better then. Not make another booking.

On our 1st full day after checking in, we left and hanged the request for housekeeping sign on the door handle. When we returned, we found a stranger's pair of socks on our pillow! We called the reception requesting for a change of pillows and complained about what happened. The manager called after a few hrs, offering a change of room on a different floor but at this point, it was already late a night and we had an early day trip the nxt morning. The following evening, we received wine & chocolates, with a letter of apology (saw a previous review stating that they were given wine & chocolates upon check in)

Aside from this, the tv was not working at all. It just showed a black screen when switched on. We asked the reception for help regarding this but they never came. Breakfast buffet was mediocre and we spotted a cockroach where the plates are placed. Very unhygenic! Staff at the Eve's bar were the only ones commendable. A below average hotel, definitely wont come back. It's a mystery how they got their 4-star rating. The only good point of this hotel is it's location.

The bed was hard with no pillow top, the carpet was old and smelly, the building was like a rabbit warren to navigate around, the gym and pool were not accessible for people with mobility issues, you have to go through what looks like an external exit on level 14 then climb these internal cement steps, the gym was very basic and the pool water was a horrible green colour. the shower was over the bath which wasn't great.not what we were expecting for our $398 overnight stay.

Super convenient. Literally right next to Central Station, George St, and all your necessities. I loved it: super big spacious room too! The buffet in the morning was fantastic to have. Loved it. Staff was helpful and friendly. And the convenience store on the hotel was perfect. I loved this hotel and will always stay here. The entrance too is beautiful: iconic big screen video, a photo op, and more. Definitely stay here in Sydney!

Great location for getting out and about to Sydneys main attractions. About 35 minutes walk to Harbour area via Pitt Street (recommended) or George Street where you can pick up tram to harbour easily.
Hotel is spotless, room was spacious and ned very comfortable. Staff very helpful and breakfast was definitely worth having.
I arrived late evening and got booked into the 808 restaurant, where meal was superb and staff so friendly.
One star knocked off as bar closed at 9.30 pm on Sunday evening, however enjoyed my stay here very much and would stay again.

The staff at the front desk were wonderful at check in, during the stay and during check out. The rooms were clean (housekeeping did a great job!). The pool and Gym facilities were also good!.

A note: the rooms could have been better enjoyed if they had a toaster and a microwave.
