The hotel is centrally located in the Haymarket area, close to Chinatown and walking distance to the Sydney Opera House and harbour. The room was a bit small but well appointed. Tastefully decorated in a theatre motif. The bed was soft so uncomfortable for those with back issues. Hotel is close to shops and restaurants.

We got the room number 319 which was so noisy because of the proximity to ventilation riser you couldn't sleep there. Even ear plugs don't help. Staff didn't change our room per our request. The lift was out of order for the whole week we stayed there. Breakfast is nice but limited options. It is good location close to Central Station.

The place was clean as, the aircon as soon as you walked through the main door was amazing with it being red hot outside! Plus the aroma smelt so so good.

The guy early morning checking out didn’t seem to know what he was doing on the computer. Took his time still wasn’t sorted, but we had to leave because my uber was outside waiting!

Overall great stay would recommend the hotel! 5*

Everything is within walking distance. if thats not your thing then the tram line is literally at the front door and so easy to use. We would definitely stay here again.

This property was amazing, so close to the centre, trams and trains to get anywhere we needed. Its right next to a theater and food center, and our room was right next to the lift, I had seen other reviews saying there was a lot of noise, we experienced none of this, it was really quiet and slept really well.

Lovely room and bathroom, the bed was really comfy. Loved the idea of being able to chose if we wanted the room cleaned daily by putting a sign on the door, we dont always feel a room needs to be cleaned all the time and it also came with cash back to use on food or drinks in the hotel.

Staff were brilliant and they helped when needed. Felt very safe in the hotel too with entry only being for guests.

Its around the Chinatown area, so there are so many lovely places to eat close by.

Would recommend staying here is visiting the city.

Great location, just a short walk north of the central train station and steps from the light rail (trams) that will take you to Circular Key. Still walkable to Circular Key and buses to anywhere you might want to go. Lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby. Hotel is quiet and clean, rooms are small but have everything you need (including a coffee machine and separate kettle with a range of teas provided and refreshed during our two night stay). Bed was comfortable. I would happily stay here again.

The staff was helpful, but the cleanliness is so bad. The mugs cannot be used without washing first as they all have tea stains in them. The duvet has a large stain. There was a paper tag on the floor in the corner of the room when we checked in, and it was still there when we checked out. The coffee machine and the bathroom mirror were covered with dust. The king bed was comfy but the pillows were all so high we couldn’t lie flat properly. The room advertised looked medium sized but the actual room was tiny, with a small window that looked out onto air conditioning and structures on roofs. Breakfast was part of the package but less than I thought would be offered for the price. We paid above $400 for this room and were disappointed that we could have stayed in a hotel with a bigger room that was cheaper with more facilities. The staff were all so lovely however and it was close to the Capitol Theatre where we saw a show. Overall, for the price we paid, it didn’t meet expectations.

Staff are wonderful and the location is pretty much unbeatable. The bed is comfy and the aircon is also really good when it's hot outside.

Unfortunately there are a few issues. There is only one elevator up to the higher floors and it's pretty slow too arrive.

The room and bathroom both need a very thorough deep clean as there was a large amount of very old, grey dust build up and stains. Although tea/coffee is provided, there are no teaspoons etc, house keeping did not refill.

The shower was terrible and pretty frustrating. Very low pressure (like I've had infants drool on me with greater force) and inconsistent heating - would regularly lose all heat.

I would consider staying again if there were major discounts as the location and staff were lovely!

The good - the staff were attentive and friendly. The location is good, easy access to transport. Lots of food and dining options in the immediate vicinity. Now the bad - the breakfast was extremely limited. The shower pressure is poor. Not really good enough for a supposed 4 star hotel. There is only 1 lift and no stairs. You can be waiting ages for the lift and it’s very frustrating. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the pillows they supply way too big. I wouldn’t stay here again, there are many more 4 star hotels in Sydney offering a lot better.

This is a well located hotel and served its purpose. However, it does have a lot of pubs around, which could be noisy, especially on weekends until past midnight. The lobby has a distinct scent of perfume or cleaning agent? that we didn’t quite like.

I've stayed here often. In the middle of the bustling theatre and Chinatown/Thaitown district of Sydney CBD, the location is perfect for those who like nightlife and excellent casual dining.
It's a little oasis amongst this busy area, where your room is quiet and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
For those who like privacy, know that no-one can even enter the building, let alone reach your floor, without either having their room key or requesting entry to the building with the intercom.
The only thing I don't personally like is that it has one of those TV's that is so smart, it can't receive local free-to-air channels, but 100 other channels, of course.
I've stayed here maybe 20 times now. It's my preferred hotel in this area, and may well become yours.

I recently stayed at The Capitol Hotel Sydney and was very impressed. The location is unbeatable, right next to the Capitol Theatre and within easy walking distance of Chinatown, Darling Harbour and plenty of great dining options. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished with modern, stylish décor and clever touches that give it a boutique feel. Rooms are compact but very well designed and spotless, with handy tech features like streaming options and in-room tablets.

What really stood out was the service and hospitality – staff were warm, attentive and genuinely helpful, making the stay feel seamless and welcoming.

A couple of small points: some may find the rooms on the smaller side and the in-room dining menu is a little limited, but overall the value for money is excellent.

I’d highly recommend The Capitol Hotel Sydney for anyone visiting the theatre or looking for a clean, modern and friendly base in the heart of the city.

The hotel itself was very nice, clean, and comfortably furnished. I elected to stay a Friday night in the cbd as I had a scheduled event early in the morning the next day and didn't wish to travel in from home on the day.

Our room was on the second floor and was unfortunately directly over top of a bar which was blasting its music loudly until at least 1am. This is no fault of the hotel, but it makes it very hard to enjoy your stay and feel fresh for the event the next morning.

Clean and convenient hotel

The room appears clean but is quite small. No hangers or place to hang clothing. Bathroom trash can is too small and probably better without the swinging lid. I wish the outlet plug is not over the toilet. It seems so unsanitary for cords to touch the toilet.

The front desk is always very professional. The place is very convenient and accessible to public transportation.

To be greeted by Duty Manager Thomas at 08:30 with a welcoming smile was just what we needed after a long flight, not expecting to check in but Thomas apologised not being able to to check us in due to a Full House the previous night which we totally understandable

Thomas kindly offered to look after are luggage after we had a rest in the lounge area & to stay as long as was need

Such a perfect spot if seeing a show and traveling a long way from home! We were concerned we wouldn’t get parking but managed to get a spot. The security was good being in such a busy spot in the city, I felt safe.
