Having arrived in Sydney early in the morning, I knew that I would have to wait until the hotel / pub opened to check in. However, seeing someone in the bar, I took a chance and knocked on the door. Tony (? - from New Zealand) was most welcoming, got me a drink, told me all about the hotel / food options etc. and offered to look after my luggage if I wanted to go out and come back later once the room was ready. The room, which was serviced daily, was basically just what I wanted - nothing fancy, but somewhere to shower & sleep. The breakfast option (bread / butter / jam / honey / coffee / tea / milk all available outside the room) was ideal for me as I had a few late nights & early mornings, so could grab what I wanted when I needed it. I would certainly be happy to stay again. Downsides? Well, apart from the guy in the next room running his shower at 3.00 a.m. and setting off the fire alarm with the steam (then locking himself out of the room, so couldn't turn the shower off!!) the only real issue was that the hotel is on a corner so there was some traffic noise. That said, I was so tired with all I was doing, that it hardly stopped me sleeping. I understand that the hotel was about to change hands and an update to some of the decorating would help, but if I do ever return to Sydney, the Glasgow Arms would be top of my list. Thanks for a great time.

The accommodation is pretty basic and fairly run down. Very comfortable beds. The only thing we really didn't like was how dirty the room and bathroom were. There were still hairs on the floor from the previous occupants and it looked like the room never really gets a deep cleaning. The latch inside the bathroom door was broken, there was no way to turn off the noisy fan in the bathroom that was on 24/7. Other than that, it's convenient, within walkable distance from all the Darling Harbour amenities and CBD and surprisingly quiet.

We got there at 10:30am, and fortunately an employee was inside and even though doors were locked, let us into the pub to leave our bags while we wandered the city. Also, don't expect a late checkout. Checkout is 10:00am, and about 9:55 housekeeping knocked on our door to see if we were leaving. We were in the midst of packing, and I asked if we could have until 10:15 to which he replied, \"No.\" The breakfast is very basic: toast, cereal, milk, juice, coffee, tea. It is convenient as it is on the same floor as the rooms.

Our initial reaction to this hotel was negative to say the least. Mark received us politely & carried our suitcases up the stairs to our room, but we were so disappointed with the facilities. We were staying at the Glasgow Arms for 7 nights, but it was the middle week of our 2 month holiday so we had quite a bit of luggage and clothes, so to only have a rail & 6 coat hangers (no wardrobes) was a problem! But after the initial disappointment we soon warmed to the place.
The food in the pub is excellent & varied. The staff are friendly and efficient. The drink prices are very reasonable and the location is great for both Darling Harbour and the fabulous Chinatown.
So thank you Mark, Jonno & the team for looking after us so well.

We stayed for 2 nights on a stopover in Sydney. Check in was easy and the staff were really friendly - gave us a rundown of the accomodation, breakfast etc. The hotel is fairly well located - close to a tram stop and a short walk from central Sydney. The facilities are a little tired but generally clean and tidy. The room itself was fairly big, although with a small bathroom (shower only - not a problem for us). It was very handy having communal space with breakfast (just the basics - toast, cereal, tea, coffee, juice). There was a communal fridge but our room also had a fridge in. Although we were sleeping directly above the pub, we didn't really notice any noise overnight. Would definitely recommend.

Well, you get what you pay for. But I still prefer spend money on restaurants than pay for hotel to just sleep. That’s why we choose cheaper hotel. Room was clean but at general just old. Stairs outside of our room was painted at that time so that smell from painting was very strong. Plus as many other people mentioned was noisy.

The location for a show at Aware Super Theatre is sensational. Easy 5 minute walk to the venue, even less to light rail connection to Central. The staff are super friendly and remembered my name from check-in so any purchase of drinks and food all afternoon and night was on a first name basis. Not very common anywhere, let alone Sydney.

The bathroom in room nine needs to be completely replaced I arrived when the floor was wet from the leaking roof it was not another room to go to so the bathroom reflect all night when it came to the morning wasn’t sure what to do with the key there’s no instructions in the room to do with what you have to do with the key I also didn’t get the opportunity to see if my credit card details were ripped up as you can’t speak to anyone when you’re leaving

While the staff were lovely and the hotel itself was well maintained, the doors and walls between the rooms did nothing for the sound! The people next door left their TV on all night which was great for sleep and the rest of the time it was either the cars of the other people making noise.

Cons- Make sure you bring/buy earplugs (you are above a pub that is open until 3am). I had thought all the loud music and noise was coming from the pub but I think other surrounding areas contributed to this. My room was very poorly insulated from sound.

The property is quite out dated and we found cockroach in the room during our stay. The another issue is the room is full of smell of chemical. We feel quite disppointed for the room condition.
